Calling for a racism Czar.

It's Sunday, so I am sure that John McCain is on a television set somewhere talking up a storm on one of those Sunday morning talk shows. (Is there any other elected official in America who can give their opinion on current events? My lord!) Yep, there he is, right on cue, and now he is calling for an Ebola Czar. Huh?

I am curious senator, what exactly would this Czar do that the CDC is not already doing? I seem to remember a time when his Oness was getting the business from republicans for appointing too many Czars. Now we have a leading republican calling for a Czar to control a disease. Interesting.

Maybe what we need is a racism Czar. Heck I would argue that if it was not for racism that Liberian, Thomas Duncan, would not have been turned away from a Dallas area hospital and told to take two aspirins and call them in the morning.

Now he is dead, and everyone who he came in contact with after being turned away could be a possible carrier.

Mr. Duncan's nephew certainly thinks that racism played a part in him not getting proper treatment.

"Josephus Weeks, the nephew of Thomas Eric Duncan, said Friday that Duncan would have survived Ebola treatment had he been white.

In an interview on CNN’s OutFront, Weeks echoed accusations he had previously made about Duncan, the now-dead Liberian man who was diagnosed with Ebola after having traveled to the U.S.

He’s the only person that has died from Ebola here in America,” Weeks said. “He’s a black man. He’s poor, didn’t have insurance.”

Weeks had previously said the Texas hospital that treated Duncan was negligent in its care because Duncan was initially sent away from the hospital with only antibiotics, despite having some symptoms of Ebola.

“Had that been another name, you know, or another color, he would probably be living today and he would have survived it,” Weeks told CNN. “And that’s what’s really hurting me the most is because they treated him the way they did because of the color of his skin, and that’s very upsetting and disturbing, and know that you stand a chance if you’re white, but you don’t if you’re black.." Hmmm, a racism Czar would be able to look into that. Are you white folks sure you don't have a hidden stash of anti-Ebola serum in a bunker out in Utah somewhere?

A racism Czar would at least be able to tell us what the hell is going on in police departments all over the country. Particularly in places like St. Louis and New York.

In St Louis racial tensions have divided that city just in time for their annual October championship run by their very successful baseball franchise.

There are a lot of other cities like St. Louis out there: Divided by race, class, and economic opportunities. Maybe a racism Czar could help us get to the bottom of all of this.

"After crouching to the ground and dirtying her forehead and her sweater on the pavement, Vaughan — from predominantly white St. Charles County on the outskirts of St. Louis — explained that she loved Jesus and that "there’s a lot of racism here. I hadn’t had to notice it because I’m white; I think I was really naive to it all.”

She added, “I don’t know how to make people care, but I wish they would. Some of my friends have had their eyes opened, but a lot just care about the Cardinals.”

Sorry Ms. Vaughan, you can't make people care. That's a job for "Jesus" and the racism Czar.
