So now that it has been confirmed that the Breck Boy was getting some nooky on the side, the right wing attack dogs have been foaming at the mouth. Over at FUCK NEWS, as can be expected, it has been wall to wall coverage. One of their blond bimbo anchors and the house Negro with the fucked up toupee even had some clown on from the "National Inquirer" today. He was promising to give us more juicy headlines and drop another bombshell or two soon. *Yawn*. Can someone please wake me when this shit is over? Like we really care who or what someone is poking as long as they can do the job we elected them to do.
Here is the thing that a lot of these right wing crazies don't get: The only reason we are all over them when they are caught fucking around on their spouses, is because they are such a bunch of hypocrites. Bob Livingston going all out to get Bill Clinton, for the very same thing he was doing at the time, took balls. The lying piece of shit, Larry Craig, trying to get his freak on in a public bathroom, while publicly condemning gays and sponsoring legislation against homosexual behavior, took big ones. (No pun intended)
Which leads me to Mr. Morton. A word to the wise for the salty one: While this John Edwards thing is going down, you need to keep your damn mouth shut. You have been getting a pass from the A-merry-can people because you are a war hero, but you are no different or better than John Edwards. You did the exact same thing. You fucked around on your first wife. And from all indication, you have been fucking around on this one too.
But don't worry, your friends over at FAKE NEWS will realize this soon. And, as a result, they will ease up on the Breck Boy just a little bit. Let's hope that they do, because if they don't, folks will start pointing their fingers at you. And I am sure that this is the type of scrutiny you don't want.

Unfortunately, the for profit media won't touch McNuts sleazy behavior, but we can keep hoping. In the mean time I'll be joining Chula in the dungeon.
Please....be my guest ;)
Please! Diiference is: No one wants to hear about Morton's sex life. Ugh, Can he even "rise" to the occasion.
Make that no one wants to hear OR think about Salty in that element.
McCain is still trying to portray Obama as opportunistic celebrity. Not too far off the mark I think.
The MSM won't have to touch it, because it's out there. But, yes, if he tries to make hay with this, he needs to be nailed to the wall.
Mr. Belle makes me watch Sean Hannity. (It keeps him angry.) I couldn't believe Hannity had the nerve to say that if Edwards had been a Republican, MSM would have been camped outside his door to get the story. How can he believe the words that come out of his mouth?
You can see the smoke coming out of his ears as he tries to find a way to tie this to Barack.
Ain't gonna happen, Field. FauxNews been knowing this and will continue to shield the heartless, loveless John McCain from bad press.
I have another view on media lynching of John Edwards and insight into why he did what he did, and invite you to come read it:
John & Elizabeth: Their Pain From Our Hypocrisy
The Old Coot has a sex life?
He must be all-oral cuz' you knowd that old noodle can't get hard anymore.
I went through this infidelity thing years and years ago... it wasnt the sex, it was the betrayal. The breach of trust that was painful.
I cannot imagine having to endure what was one of the most painful experiences of my life if it were then broadcast to the whole world and became front page headlines.... The person in all of this that I give a shit about is Elizabeth... going through cancer and then this..... Even if she knew.... its gotta hurt for it to become so public.... For her sake, I hope this story goes away, Fast!
Where is Vicki Iseman in all this mess? How come we don't hear about that little tart every freaking minute of the news cycle?
Trouble is, when you bring this up, they [Republicans] always come back with, 'Oh none of that was ever proven'. McCain knows how to play the deny, deny, deny game. Edwards, meanwhile, had decided to spread his business all over town.
And by the way, I agree with whoever said he was doing this knowing that if he got the nomination, this was gonna come out sooner or later. It always does.
Brother Field...War hero? Real war veterans that fought the enemy still find it ludicrise to lable a P.O.W. as that. But... the term has been so diluted by a media that places people in special categories allow the average to be unique. There is nothing heroic about being unable to fly a plane, then gets captured and being a prisioner for x number of years. He may parlay that "hero" status into the WH. Only in Amerikka can a person of that status be given so much without giving much.
He ain't no war hero. Read all the stuff at Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain. They say he even was given a woman while in prison for the information he provided. I'm a Vietnam veteran and Mr. Morton is half ass eyes and the rest peter cheese.
amen Field. Mr. Morton would want to not comment.
I hope the story goes away too. Who cares? He's not the nominee. It's bet. him and Elizabeth.
Note to future campaigners: Unless you are running for President/PM of a European country keep it in your pants. We don't live our leaders to have complicated lives.
I heard the question asked on TV, "How will this affect Edwards' message on poverty?"
I thought, well, I don't see how it can possibly hurt considering that nobody paid any attention to his "message on poverty."
The only difference is that before, nobody heard the message, & now they'll say we shouldn't hear it because he cheated on his wife.
i am not sure i ever want to think about either of them in a sexual way... not even holding hands with their spouses..
now barack & michelle...
yes indeed... they are a hot couple...
"No one wants to hear about Morton's sex life. Ugh, Can he even "rise" to the occasion."
"VIVA VIAGRA"
LOL!
@ FIELD NEGRO: Great blog. My first visit.
There was indeed internet gossip during the primary season that McCain's camp itself was promoting the idea that McCain was a dog. The idea very much was because they were worried about the age thing and wanted him to seem vigorous.
I have no opinion one way or the other about that, but I do agree and have always expected that McCain would get a rocking-chair press ride and Obama would be in for a grilling.
McCain has always been the press's favorite American politician. I don't know why exactly. He's always seemed cruel, vindictive, petty, corrupt and none too bright to me. Obama strikes me as a little cranky from time to time but certainly intelligent, sophisticated, pleasant and seems like a fun guy to bullshit with.
The press probably loves him because very few of them have served in the military and are ashamed of that. Their bosses have more of a McCain corporate agenda than the overall pro-business agenda of Obama. The election of McCain would be the MSM's last chance to be "correct and relevant." If Obama wins, it's a big boost for the "open-source" blog news DIY model.
That's why Obama's enjoying playing poker with his staff is considered evil. His enjoying a round of golf now and then is considered "elitist". Yet, McCain's having an intense dice jones which has cost him millions gets no attention whatsoever.
Big danger for Obama is the Russia/Georgia hostilities. This is your "August surprise" and probably accounts for McCain's rise in the polls, althought I'd be very confident saying that Obama has higher approval ratings than McCain does in both Russia and Georgia.
As for Edwards, if FOX NEWS is saying that this reflects badly on Obama or the party in some way, I don't know how to respond. Seems to me that would make Edwards like every other American man. He's got a wife. He's got a girlfriend.
Edwards is one of the nation's top tort lawyers. As a Senator and campaigner he was average at best. Better for him that he go back to doing what he did well.
I saw an article yesterday implying the the Obama family vacation to his home town in Hawaii might be considered elitist. If that is the case, lets have McCain speak on Edward's affair so that it stays on the front page until Obama comes to the mainland.
It seems that Mr. Morton has a problem with treating women well and with respect. How does a person leave his first wife, a woman who waited for him all those years while he was a prisoner of war only to show his gratitude by cheating her and leaving her for a younger and richer woman. I wonder how stupid is Cindy McCain, quite honestly how do you trust a man who cheated and left his wife for someone else namely her and not think that he could do that you. Unbelievable. I think the wise thing for both John and Cindy to do is to keep their mouths closed because they are not most honorable individuals in the world. At the end of the day John Edwards did not leave and he is going to leave. Did John mistake, sure he did, and he does not necessarily mean he still cannot be an effective political leader.
Let's face it, no one is going to bother to get any dirt on McCain partly because he's old guy. No one wants to say anything negative about the old guy, and he is using it to his advantage. The man cannot lift his arms over his head to comb his hair due to the time he was imprisoned, and he is old. No one is going bother to question about his mental state because anyone who was in prison for long period of time would have some mental stress lingering around. However, people will still vote Grandpa Monster.
Filled-Negro is just being typical. He masturbates on the "Fox News Channel" every night and now when the golden boy John Edwards who's track record of helping "poor Blacks"......stay poor - matches Obama gets in a pile of trouble our hero Filled-Negro can only think to lash out at Fox.
I can imagine that many White lynch mobs of back in the day had a strong sense of OBFUSCATION in play as they redirected their anger and shame at some failing that was dear to them (ie: their own daughter is a hoe and will give it up to anyone) over to anger and hatred at the BLACK GUY who she gave it up to.
Give it a rest Filled-Negro. Fox News AIN'T the problem in South West Philly and Fox News didn't cause John Edwards to cheat on his cancer stricken wife. LACK OF CHARACTER made him do it.
His hopes of being a Attorney General in an "Obama Administration" are dashed. Your hopes of being a "Federal Drug Dealer Defender" for the region of Pennsylvania died with Edward's choice to wet his dipstick with someone other than his wife.
Filled-Negro - how long are you going to remain in this soldout, abstracted state? Your HEART is in SouthWest Philly and other areas that have been destroyed by failed economic policies and social mores that have been stripped away yet you continue to be the #1 Cheerleader for the POLITICAL MACHINE that had done most of this damage. As with any addict you want MORE of the very subject that is causing your teeth to rot.
You need to check yourself brother and really, really understand WHAT YOU AND YOUR COMMUNITY IS GETTING OUT OF THIS RELATIONSHIP.
Mr. Belle makes me watch Sean Hannity. (It keeps him angry.)
KellyBelle:
If I recall correctly - you live in Ohio. With all due respect you all should be listening to the local politicians in the big cities around Ohio that are being driven into the ground rather than worrying about anything that Sean Hannity has to say. Sean Hannity has 0.0 impact on the massive erosion that is going on in Ohio and other Rust Belt states.
Are all of you so willing to abstract what is going on in the REAL WORLD and instead fight this proxy fight so that "your side" can win the Presidential Race? How does any of this translate into your REAL life?
I would not expect to hear anything out of the virulent mouth of Bill O'Rielly about this. He who settled his sexual harassment suit out of court.
"You need to check yourself brother and really, really understand WHAT YOU AND YOUR COMMUNITY IS GETTING OUT OF THIS RELATIONSHIP."
Question: Are you a part of that community? ....oh that's right, you are a different kind of black person. You are actually one of dem smart Negroes. You are a republican Negro. LOL! You pulled youself up by your boot strap. You have achieved :)
Field: You should join the club... the door is open to the GOP
CF,
The Democratic party sucks. Then I look at the alternative and embrace it.
I doubt the Stray Cock Express will stay silent on this issue. Hell, last week he was yelling at Congress to come back from vacation/recess to vote for more drilling, even though HE HIMSELF hasn't been at work in over 4 months. McHypocrite will be on the attack, even though it'll make him look bad instead.
Personally, I do not understand why anyone should want to be a part of either party. They two wings of the same bird both parties are interested in gaining control and think about we suffer because both maintain the status quo. Of course, you have individuals within both parties who make good leaders. I want leadership, a person who can set forth an agenda for the direction of this country, and this means for educating the masses. Create ideas that are innovative that moves country into the future. I agree with Bill Maher who said that America is not on a bridge to the 21st century, but on the bus to Atlanta City with a roll of quarters. And you what we do, we choose sides as if we are playing a football. I have had enough with the two-party system because it has hurt the country as a whole. If you were objective in looking at both parties, you realize that the two-party system isn't working. They both take special interest money, and it's our fault that we do not take them to task. We have two gigantic cliches and we argue about which one we want to be in, and is it me or does anyone else thinks that this petty.
Field,
It's not so much that folks care about John Edwards' affair, I think most of us -- well, women, I'm sure -- think he is a pretty awful guy to do such a thing while his wife is in the throes of breast cancer. That's the deal. Not that he slept with whomever. At the very least he should have been as true to her as ever during her time of crisis. He's heartless in this respect, and he has, obviously, no respect for the sanctity of their marriage. No one gives a hoot about who he fooled around with. It's between him and his wife. At least she didn't appear on 'Nightline' with him -- looking dreamily into his eyes as he sat there telling more lies. I give her props for having some integrity and self-esteem. I'm sure Hillary, the Spitzer woman, and the ex-wife of the New Jersey governor are feeling her public pain.
Anon. I feel you about Breck Boy's wife. I think it's a shame that she (as well as other wives) had to put up with this type of public humiliation to satisfy these egos.
Still, from a pure political standpoint, it shouldn't matter what the people we elect to do a job, do in their private lives, as long as they do their job well.
hennasplace, I co-sign with you about the two party system. But somehow folks like cons.feedack believe that with the rethugs running things, we will wake up one day and, bam! It's all peaches and cream in A-merry-ca. Not!
"Personally, I do not understand why anyone should want to be a part of either party."
I hear you on that one. It's a matter of one party being better by degrees.
Kind of like the old conundrum. You're in a barrel of monkey vomit up to your nose and somebody throws a load of horse shit at your face. Do you duck? :-)
CF You think that FOX News is not the problem. I humbly beg to differ. FOX News spew hatred and intolerance. They invent most of their news to fit their agenda. The real news would be if they actually started reporting the news and stopped pandering to all those right wing morons who believe every word they hear because it reinforces their bigoted views.
Just my humble opinion, of course.
Hey Brother Field I gotta say that all this talk about infidelity is just a bourgeousie distraction. Who cares? This is not politics!!!
If a person was put into elected office who found a way to get everyone decent health care without sacrificing their first born, or could find a way to get folks employed at a living wage, or would make sure that all of our children were educated you wouldn't care who they were sleeping with.
At the end of the day you want someone who is going to keep food on your plate, clothes on your back a roof over your head and your behind out of the poor house without fear of government interference and the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.
This is just another example of the pornification of what "they" call news.
Character is not limited to personal morality as the ruling elites would have us think. But it is also demonstrated by ones ability to seek and do justice on behalf of their fellow human beings.
Look at all these other so-called leaders of the free world (Reagan, Nixon, Bushes Iand II)who were straight arrows they may have been faithful to their wives but they screwed everyone else who couldn't protect themselves.
For us black folks maybe we can understand it better if we picture the Jim Crow era Southern church going, rules following, faithful, pious white guy who when told of a black mans indiscretion, yells " get a rope." I am sure the person swinging from his rope didn't concern himself with his personal piety.
Hennasplace said it right just as Malcolm said it years ago both parties have sold us out.
Question: Are you a part of that community?
Filled Negro - I am a part of the Black community indeed. This is why it PAINS ME so. Just like a LOST brother who has an addiction which causes him to do things that are ultimately destructive to his own interests.....I realize that my ATTACHMENT to it alone is not going to make HIM change.
HE NEEDS TO BE WILLING TO CHANGE before any of my intervention can WORK. HE NEEDS TO allow the POISON to work its way through his system.
I ON THE OTHER HAND - as a Black man of CONSCIOUS when I see a POISON DISTRIBUTOR lining up to BRING MORE POISON IN....can't sit back as your PUNK AZZ DID and allow him to bring "CIA drugs" into the community for PROFIT!!!
....oh that's right, you are a different kind of black person.
Nope that's just it Filled-Negro - I don't believe in a Black Hierarchy. This is why when the very people ask me "What have you done to HELP the Black community" I demand that THEY ask the DOPE DEALER who is Black THE SAME DAMNED THING!!! When you have the presence of mind to ASK OF this THUG IN TRAINING then you come ASK ME.
You are actually one of dem smart Negroes. You are a republican Negro. LOL!
NOPE - NOT A REPUBLICAN. "Black Conservative Independent'. (Please note where the BLACK is positioned.)
Are YOU a "Democrat who is Black" or are you a "Black Democrat" Filled-Negro? It seems rather obvious to me.
You pulled youself up by your boot strap. You have achieved :)
NOPE - No bootstraps here. I use VELCRO.
You see Filled Negro I came from a STRONG FAMILY in West Philly. I am not surprised with any of the sights that you described. This city is MENTALLY IDLE while the people who come and go need MENTAL NOURISHMENT and the houses that they live within face wear and tear.
The family that I was raised in in this same environment (it has since gotten much worse [though more Democratic] in the 25 years since I have departed) gave me the foundation to be IN such an environment but not OF such an environment. While my parents still live in Overbrook, all of their children have moved to Jersey or elsewhere.
Filled Negro - let us look at all of the INSTITUTIONS that have FAILED around these people. You have WON control of them but the people have LOST.
Education - This web site provides me with a barometer of what is going on in Philly: http://www.greatschools.net/schools.page?city=Philadelphia&lc=h&showall=1&state=PA
Overbrook High a 1 out of 10????
Lamberton High a 1? (NEVER should this have been! CLEARLY the change in the neighborhood marks the FALL of this once great school)
West Philly High 1 out of 10??
WHAT ARE YOU WINNING FILLED NEGRO? Who are you WINNING for?
Safe Streets
Field Negro as a defense attorney are you actually bringing JUSTICE to Philly or are you working to keep people who did everything necessary to BE LOCKED UP....out of jail? Does their one day of praise for you allowing them to remain free get translated into a commitment that THEY won't attack the community's interests again?
Local Economic Development
I don't follow Philly on anything other than Homicide counts which I credit you for informing me about. In Atlanta, however, I can watch a daily account of how the same people with the mindset of your drug dealing friend are acting like predator ants, scavenging from the stores that dare to remain open to provide goods and services in these same "underserved" communities. Their continued theft serve as a force seeking to close the doors on these businesses more than any "George Bush sponsored recession" that you can think of.
Filled Negro - when are you going to get beyond the Obama cheerleading and the name calling of Fox and others who disagree with you?
I am calling you out to LINK IT ALL TOGETHER BLACK MAN!!!
How DARE YOU tell the community that by insuring MORE VICTORIES for the machine that ALREADY DOMINATES THEIR COMMUNITY but with little to show for it that one day this machines ULTIMATE VICTORY is going to RAIN DOWN BENEFITS upon them.
By definition you have them in a WEAK position because their SALVATION is a function of a new EXTERNAL POLITICAL ORDER.
I have a new blog entry being edited right now just for your benefit. It adopts your SOCIALISTIC mantra but instead of placing it on an EXPANSIONARY domain of the entire nation instead we have "PROGRESSIVE ZONES" where each person remaining within commits to working for the COLLECTIVE.
I just don't get you quasi-socialists. At the sight of a place that needs your socialism most - and your only challenge is to convince the people that THEY NEED TO CHANGE you instead focus on the EXTERNAL GOVERNMENT and it IT TO CHANGE, becoming more socialist.
I believe that YOU don't have much confidence that the Thug In Training that you talked to and the others in the community will be able to CHOOSE to order themselves differently and work for their own best interests LOCALLY.
Why don't you focus on getting your THEORIES working LOCALLY and then EXPANDING THEM OUTWARD? This is how most viruses spread effectively.
You keep asking me "Why am I a Republican" (though I am NOT!!)
You NEED to ask yourself - WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING? This would be a far better question for your own introspection.
CF,
The Democratic party sucks. Then I look at the alternative and embrace it.
Actually JP I think quite differently.
For ME it is not a binary choice of "Democrat or Republican". These are the two primary choices for those who operate within the AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM.
For me the binary question is "It what is being POPULARLY done WORKING or NOT WORKING?"
As far as the Black community is concerned there are plenty of operatives such as Filled-Negro who are beholden to the American political system as they aspire to gain POWER for the party that they are attached to. Some folks believe that a "Black President" is going to mean massive changes to BLACK AMERICA. This will be only in the area of PRIDE and SYMBOLISM. The same Philadelphia PA which already has a Black Mayor, 90% Democrat City council and which votes 85% for Democrats WILL STILL HAVE LARGE, IMPOVERISHED sections of West, North, South and Southwest despite their glee.
The thug kneegrows will turn the guns that they had been firing up in the sky in celebration BACK UPON each other after a few short days.
The key flaw in Filled Negro and other BQPFRCs is that they see themselves as working ON BEHALF OF the Black community and thus by definition they work either AGAINST the government or to CHANGE the government so the "Black will have an easier time of it".
They need to learn how to work WITH THE BLACK COMMUNITY, showing it that by EXPRESSING THE STANDARD OF LIVING that they desire ON THEIR OWN BACKS they develop systems of control THAT NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY FROM THEM! In migrating to new land - where ever that might be - Internationally, across state lines or even Yeadon PA - they take their cultural confidence with them.
As it stands the populists want HEALTH CARE for the people of Southwest Philly, paid for by the NATION! This does not mean that one single "Thug in training" will become a medical professional and thus provide these SERVICES to their community. It will only mean that when he gets shot - the government will pay for it. When he has a child from a casual relationship in the neighborhood - the government will pay for its care.
Show me how any of this builds a stronger people who see that they need to DIRECT THE BEHAVIOR OF THEIR PEOPLE toward the establishment of a HIGHER STANDARD OF LIVING rather than a GROUP OF PEOPLE who SOME ONE N THE OUTSIDE is sponsoring their STANDARD OF LIVING because their intrinsic ECONOMIC BEHAVIOR does not support the STANDARD OF LIVING which they desire. These are SERFS by the very definition (a person who is bound to the land and owned by the feudal lord).
Filled Negro's ideology is DESTRUCTIVE to the human spirit. Just because something is POPULAR does not mean that it is optimal for you.
Wow, now Isaac Hayes?
This is insane, Field.
These famous brothers are dropping one a day. I love the soundtrack from Shaft. A classic. You just hear the first three notes and you know something wonderful is about to happen.
Some say deaths come in threes. I wonder who is going next?
Field, can I just tell ya how much I admire your ability to deal with the illogical, immature personal attacks that get thrown at you... always with humor.... much admiration here....
CF:
I do not have a clue as what a conservative independent is because that really sounds like an oxymoron to me. I really do not understand the independent voter is because we still have a two-party system, and the country does not vote best candidate, we vote because we do not like the other candidate. Two-party creates and promotes voting for the lesser evil. You are not voting republican because you like them, you just like the democrats less.
Either party are not talking issues, but negative campaigns works because it what the average American can understand. I do not pay attention to campaign ads because it's more about marketing and getting people to believe the perception. People believe that perception true, and that is our problem. People believe whatever you tell them, and it something Hilter was very good at doing. He got the German to believe that the Jews were the cause of their problems, and they believed it because they wanted to. They did not bother to question it because you take one element of the truth, and run with. Just like what Reagan did what the Welfare Queen. It was true that some people did take advantage of the system, but he gave perception that it was wide spread when it fact perhaps less than 5% actually committed fraud on the system. But, we did not bother ask questions about the statistics or proof to support his claim.
CF, if we pay taxes then I do not see a problem with government having a healthcare system. The free market where healthcare is concerned is not working. Health is a social issue, and who wouldn't want to have a healthy that beneficial to the society at large. We do not the free market running fire or departments around the country. Health insurance is horrible in this country. My insurance turned down surgery to correct a deviated septum to help me breath easier, and I pay for coverage in addition to the co-payments, deductibles, etc. Birth control is not covered either under my policy unless it is medical necessary and they might cover it then. CF you nothing about health insurance, my sister-in-law just spent 20 days in the hospital for blood clots and believed they let her stay that long because she works for public school system in Newark and they 100% coverage, but under my insurance the hospital kicked me out within five days. I know her medical bills reached upward to $100,000 because she spent time in ICU, pain medication, monitors, etc. A lot of us do not have that kind of coverage, in fact, I have ALFAC disability in addition my medical coverage because New York State only $170.00 a week for short-term disability, and I cannot pay rent with that if I should need spend time off from work for an injury or illness. Yes CF welcome to the real world.
For the record, we have more republican administrations than democratic, and a couple from the Whig party.
fucking Isaac Hayes!!!!!!!Bernie Mac! now Isaac!! this is too much!! there both in movie together "Soul Men" RIP two to beautiful brothas..I'm sick
Has anyone actually seen Vicki Iseman lately? Seriously....how far underground did they put her?
Jesus Now Black Moses?
Anon. 2:00 P.M. "No one gives a hoot about who he fooled around with. It's between him and his wife.
Maybe we should.
If Edwards can't be faithful to the woman he claims to love, why should we believe he'll be faithful to the country he claims to love?
I don't understand the thinking that a person's private persona is not an indicator of his public persona, and vice versa.
We have all heard the saying: "taking your work home." Why shouldn't we believe that people take their home to work?
Bush is the same person in public as he is in private. When he's in public, he hides the private.
John Edwards is the same person in public as he is in private. When he's in public, he hides the private.
Private is to public, what public is to private. They're one and the same.
Who we are, we carry with us all day. We don't lose the private self at our front door, and neither do we lose our public self when we cross our threshold.
It's important to know if a man kicks his dog, or beats his wife in private: it's an index to his total character, public or private.
@Christopher: "These famous brothers are dropping one a day. I love the soundtrack from Shaft. A classic. You just hear the first three notes and you know something wonderful is about to happen."
Chris, I cosign a hundred percent.
Hayes, I believe, was in the first Watts Annual Parade. And this was a year(?) after the Watts' riot.
Maybe there's someone posting here that has a better memory than me, and can fill in the details.
His album Hot Buttered Soul broke new ground as well. Wikipedia says this about it:
"Hot Buttered Soul was Isaac Hayes' second studio album. Released in 1969, it is recognized as a landmark in soul music.
"Hot Buttered Soul broke radically away from the standard three-minute song format, and instead consisted of just four tracks—two pop song covers and two originals—with lengths ranging from 5 to 18 minutes."
For a time, it was almost impossible to keep the album on store shelves, and nearly impossible to find. And if you were one of the lucky ones to have an original copy, it became a treasured keepsake.
I never understood how, in time, Barry White replaced Hayes as the deep, gravel-voice sound of romantic soul.
Gee hennasplace where do I start?
I do not have a clue as what a conservative independent is because that really sounds like an oxymoron to me.
"Independent" specifies PARTY AFFILIATION.
"Conservative or Liberal/Progressive" specifies ideology.
There is no oxymoron as these define different concepts. Jim Webb is considered a "conservative Democrat" .
I really do not understand the independent voter is because we still have a two-party system, and the country does not vote best candidate, we vote because we do not like the other candidate.
I do have my policy preferences which has me inclined to vote for a candidate in a General election. I don't vote in party primaries as an independent.
But the primary reason that I am an independent is because in being a Black male yet seeing what is POPULAR in my community gain overwhelming POWER within and yet the PROBLEMS STILL EXIST or in some cases are amplified I realize that whatever the POPULAR assumptions are - THEY AIN'T WORKING!!
Instead too many people play CHEERLEADER to their party without fully comprehending what they are actually getting out of the deal. In the case of inner cities "they are winning but they are losing" at the same time. More homogeneous power in their communities yet erosion of their interests. To top it off there are idiots like Michael Eric Dyson who are BLAMING THE GROUP THAT IS NO LONGER PRESENT for many of the failures rather than the people who are actually running the place. (The ones with the "D" after their names).
Two-party creates and promotes voting for the lesser evil. You are not voting republican because you like them, you just like the democrats less.
Again the flaw in this argument is that THE AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM is the gateway to your prosperity and success. I constantly report on the people who are increasing their presence in the retail space of many of these same distressed communities. They are FOREIGNERS and they are nearly political agnostic. Despite their lack of POLITICAL POWER they continue to gain a foothold in the ECONOMIC space in America. (I ain't gonna lie to you - as I was driving home I just purchased some Chinese food and this particular restaurant has a brand new crew of Chinese working in the back from when they opened about 3 years ago. They insure their OWN FULL EMPLOYMENT!! I ain't mad at them!!)

I understand what you are saying hennasplace. Kinda like "the AUDACITY OF HOPE" is a belief system but it is for "good guys" because the RICH, the CORPORATIONS and the CONSERVATIVES are the bad people in this scheme who must be attacked.
CF, if we pay taxes then I do not see a problem with government having a healthcare system.
WHOA THERE. You PAYING TAXES ENTITLES YOU to government health care?
Why not argue the same about FOOD? Or transportation?
The free market where healthcare is concerned is not working. Health is a social issue, and who wouldn't want to have a healthy that beneficial to the society at large.
hennasplace - the primary thing that I notice in these type of arguments is that the key operator missing in your claim are the PEOPLE THEMSELVES.
In your view a HEALTHY PUBLIC is a province of GOVERNMENT ACTION. What do you ask of the PEOPLE to voluntarily YIELD in their excesses and alter their lifestyles so that they might be more healthy?
I am working on a project involving remote monitoring of diabetes patients. With obesity and unhealthy lifestyles among people the POPULATION OF DIABETES PATIENTS IS EXPLODING!! In this case the state Medicare/Medicaid has a vested interest in making sure that people monitor their glucose levels so that they can avoid expensive reactionary care (amputations, kidney failure, etc).
We are so programed to have a governmental/institutional response to these crisises when in truth more INDIVIDUALS need to take responsibility for their own lives as the primary solution to the problem.

My insurance turned down surgery to correct a deviated septum to help me breath easier, and I pay for coverage in addition to the co-payments, deductibles, etc. Birth control is not covered either under my policy unless it is medical necessary and they might cover it then.
Clearly they are practicing COST CONTROL. But think about it for a second hennasplace - if one hospital has the capacity and the budget to see 1,000 patients a month is there any real difference between
A) A market based system that regulates the flow of people into a health care facility by using insurance as a gating factor and thus those without insurance have to go to a "last resort" hosiptal
B) A government based system which provides universal access but has 3,000 people in the queue for the hospital that can only process 1,000 a month?
BOTH SYSTEMS are RATIONING CARE!!!
CF you nothing about health insurance, my sister-in-law just spent 20 days in the hospital for blood clots and believed they let her stay that long because she works for public school system in Newark and they 100% coverage, but under my insurance the hospital kicked me out within five days.
I know from my work experience that this is indeed the case. Hospitals are using information systems to analyze the type of insurance that a person has (what can they get reimbursed for) and they tune their coverage to different people based on the reimbursements that they can expect.
THINK ABOUT IT. What is wrong with this? Isn't this the case for restaurants, hotels, cars that you drive?
While I agree with the notion that all hospitals must accept gunshot victim who is brought in their front doors seeking immediate emergency care - I believe that as private, for profit institutions they have the right to stabilize the person and send him on to another hospital for care.
The bottom line is hennasplace , THERE IS NOTHING IN LIFE THAT IS FREE.
A system that ABSTRACTS the cost of a procedure at the POINT OF CARE and shifts it to the tax payer is unjust as well. A poor person who receives an Earned Income Tax Credit (and thus does not pay taxes) gets an X-Ray within a government paid health care system. Per the taxes paid - he is charged NOTHING for this procedure. A wealthy person receiving the VERY SAME PROCEDURE and is PROGRESSIVELY TAXED is charged $1,500 for the very same procedure (hypothetical charges). What person in their right mind is going to continue getting SCREWED by a system that charges him more for a procedure that others are charged less or nothing for?
hennasplace - you not being able to afford Health Cover is no justification to place healthcare in the realm of GOVERNMENT FUNDED services.
I am all for a safety net where those who are young, old or infirmed have their bills paid for within reason. What we really need is more preventative care being implemented to eliminate many of the long term, chronic ailments from taking root. Kidney Dialysis is costly. (There was an article detailing the skyrocketing cost for kidney dialysis - I'll get back to you on it)
The bottom line is that in my view HEALTH CARE COVERAGE IS NOT A RIGHT.
I support expanded health care coverage as a positive attribute for a "civilized society" but it must be executed with respect to both respect for PRIVATE PROPERTY and economic realities. Thus NO BLANK CHECK as paid for by the evil rich should be a pretext for a plan.
CF, I have a question.
Interestingly enough, for the most part, I understand your views regarding why universal health care should not be a "right: to anyone who pays taxes. And I also agree that most illnesses and costly medical conditions are preventable; and that there needs to be a great initiative on individuals to reduce the amount of illnesses and disabling conditions by changing their lifestyle habits. If lifestyle changes were made, then I am pretty certain that many of the illnesses that we are asking the government to pick up the tab on would not be so prevalent in our country.
But what about someone who lives in a city that does not have a county hospital system, and they contract/are diagnosed with a disease that was not quite preventable, but one that is awfully expensive to treat. What should this person do? If this person cannot afford their prescription drugs, cost of treatment, and the cost of durable medical supplies: What should this person do? Should the government come in and lend a hand, much like they already do for individuals who end up with end stage kidney failure.
When someone is diagnosed with end stage kidney failure, and ar placed on dialysis, they automatically qualify for Medicare. Why is that?
Why shouldn't other illnesses and other disabling conditions be included in that list of individuals that the government helps in the time of a medical crisis.
If a person is working ajob that refuses to give them medical coverage, and they become ill, does this person not deserve medical care?
If a person is working on a job, has good medical benefits, but becomes too ill to remain at work, and eventually loses their medical benefit: Should this person be left on their own, without anyone or any organization, mainly the government, to assist during a medical crisis.
Perhaps I understand the hardship of illness and disability. And that in itself helps me be more empathetic to individuals who are trying to "get well" but cannot afford it.
I'm just wondering. What is your thoughts on this.
CF, I tried to be nice and read your rant. And I really wanted to understand where you were coming from as you answered the questions that hennasplace posed to you. But then I read this quote:
"The bottom line is that in my view HEALTH CARE COVERAGE IS NOT A RIGHT."
And I realized that I was wasting my time, and why I should never pay attention to your myopic desultory ramblings.
HEALTH COVERAGE IS A RIGHT FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH. PERIOD!
And don't bother to answer Angie's question, I think we already know how you feel.
