"Ugly" thoughts.

So I am looking at this conservative writer, and, from the looks of things, his parents doomed him to a life of failure. (This dude ain't dating no super models anytime soon. Just sayin.)


Honestly, if this guy had a billion dollars sitting in the bank it wouldn't help his lot in life, because, at the end of the day, he would still be him.


This might explain why he hates poor and downtrodden people so much.


"Conservative blogger and author Erick Erickson said Thursday that some minimum wage workers have simply “failed at life.”


Erickson made the comment while guest hosting for Rush Limbaugh‘s radio program.


“The minimum wage is mostly people who failed at life and high school kids,” Erickson said. “Seriously, look. I don’t mean to be ugly with you people. … If you’re a 30-something-year-old person and you’re making minimum wage you probably failed at life.”


Erickson dismissed the idea that some of those people may have just been down on their luck. “It is not that life dealt you a bad hand,” he said. “Life does not deal you cards. It’s that you failed at life.”' [Source]


You don't mean to be ugly, but you are. Literally.


This guy better not eat out for the rest of his life. (Spit sauce with just about every meal.) Who does he think is serving him, parking his car, and making his food in some of those fancy restaurants that I am sure he likes to frequent?


Personally, I applaud people who have been down on their luck (for whatever reason) and who are willing to take a minimum wage job --or two--- to try and pull themselves up again by putting in an honest day's work. Operative word being work. That is more than I can say for Erickson and his right- wing buddies who are here on earth sucking up the air that us decent people have to breathe.


But this is where we are with the class war currently going on in America. On one side we have people like Erick Erickson and his buddies. And on the other side we have hard working Americans who are just trying to make it and take care of themselves and their families.


The dope boys are listening to folks like Erick Erickson who demonize hard work for little pay. In fact, like Erickson, they make fun of minimum wage workers all the time. "Man I ain't flipping no burgers for a living. I can make in an hour slinging on the corner what it takes me a week to make working at Mickey D's."


You would think conservatives would encourage hard work. Start off at minimum wage and work your way up. If you work hard you will be rewarded. Isn't that the American way?


That's certainly what Jason Riley seems to be saying in a typical house Negro pull yourself up the bootstrap screed he penned, recently. (Yo Jason, your ideological soul-mate doesn't want anyone to pull themselves up; he says that they are all failures.)

A real Laffer, and Chris Christie's bridge problem.

"Arguing that a federal minimum wage would put a good number of people out of jobs, former Reagan economic advisor Art Laffer told Fox’s Happening Now panel Wednesday morning that the minimum wage was just the “black teenage unemployment act.”


“The minimum wage makes no sense whatsoever to me,” Laffer said. “I mean honestly, it’s just the black teenage unemployment teenage act. These are the very groups we need to have jobs, not be put out of work because of a minimum wage. So I’m really very much in favor of, at least for teenagers, getting rid of minimum wage to bring them back into the labor force, get them skills they need to continue being productive members of our society for years and years.” [Source] 


Yes, because only "black teenagers" are unemployed. *rolling eyes*


Honestly, you have to wonder why republicans and conservatives are so obsessed with us black folks. And not in a good way.




In their minds, only black people are unemployed; only black people get unemployment benefits (it's why they refuse to vote to extend those benefits); and only black people require other forms of government assistance. We all know, of course, that this is not true. But whatever it takes to make some people feel good about themselves.




Speaking about feeling good about themselves, one person who can't be feeling too good about himself these days is the governor of New Jersey.




It looks like the gov might have a large problem on his hand. (Pun intended.)
He flatly denied any involvement in shutting down traffic on the GW and inconveniencing an entire town, and it turns out that his administration knew all about it all along and that it was done to get back at a political enemy.("Time for some traffic in Fort Lee".)




"E-mails emerged on Wednesday from top aides to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie bolstering suggestions that George Washington Bridge lane closures last year that tied up traffic stemmed from a political vendetta and not bureaucratic incompetence as his administration claimed.

Christie said in a statement that "what I've seen today is unacceptable," adding that he was "misled by a member of his staff" and knew nothing about what had transpired.

He previously said he knew nothing about allegations of political retribution against the mayor of Fort Lee, where the traffic lanes feed into the nation's busiest bridge across the Hudson River, for not endorsing him in his re-election bid.

Those cited in the series of e-mails and text messages subpoenaed by Democratic legislators and obtained by CNN and other news outlets did not respond to requests for comment or to verify the communications." [Source]

Now if you believe that the governor knew nothing about the actions of this particular official, I have an antique bell here in Philadelphia with a slight crack on the side that I would just love to sell you.

I guess those "I work the cones" jokes aren't quite so funny now.

Finally, I know that I chase racism with the best of them, and people quite often accuse me of making a racial mountain of a mole hill, but seriously America, we need to just chill out a little bit.

I can't believe that this dude blogging about his home life experience from Los Angeles has created a national foofaraw.

Honestly, what is wrong with the picture on his website? Dude is trying to do his daughter's hair and playing "Mr. Mom". I don't have kids, so someone who has children has to explain to me how this is supposed to go down.

 

 

What is a worker really worth?

I see that Glenn Beckkk is back, and I am happy to report that he is not dying........that is what he said, right?

Anyway, let's talk about my republican friends, shall we? It seems that they are hell bent on getting rid of the minimum wage. That is an interesting economic tactic, because it basically says that the federal government shouldn't mandate to employers what they can pay their employees. If, for instance, you just started your business and can only afford to pay a worker say $5.15 an hour, (the federal minimum wage prior to 2007) you should be allowed to do so. Who says that every worker should be worth at least $7.25 an hour? That's just the federal government involving themselves in places that they don't belong. What ever happened to states rights?

Republicans will tell you that the reason we are losing so many jobs to places like China is because they can afford to pay workers say .40 an hour. We don't create a pro business climate (the type the Chamber Of Commerce is pushing for) if we force businesses to pay workers a whopping $7.25 an hour. Besides, they reason, if you are allowed to hire a worker at say $3.50 an hour, you could hire two workers for what you would pay one at minimum wage rates. Aren't republicans smart? That would cut the unemployment numbers in half here in A-merry-ca with one quick swoop.

"The minimum wage is something that FDR put in place a long time ago during the Great Depression," Raese told ABC News Top Line. "I don't think it worked then. It didn't solve any problems then and it hasn't solved any problems in 50 years."

This is coming from a man who is running to become a senator from that very wealthy state known as West Virginia. Nice. Is it any wonder that Bruce Josten and the folks over at the Chamber are doing everything in their power to get the republicans back in power?- Even if it means funding republican campaigns with foreign money.- Because people being hungry in A-merry-ca doesn't really matter. It's not like they are corporations or anything. I don't know, maybe the people who strategize on behalf of the republicans told them that people who earn minimum wage don't vote. All those teenagers working at McDonald's don't have time for the voting booth.

Oh lawd! Where is his O ness when you need him? Wait.... never mind.

The HNIC Race

Folks it's election season and the field has got the fever. In fact, I am so passionate about these upcoming elections that I have decided to declare my candidacy for HNIC. [If you have to ask what a HNIC is you should not be reading this blog] Anyway, my opponent is the long time incumbent, the house negro. [Yeah he has been the HNIC for a long time now] And he will be running a well funded, and slick campaign.

So I collected some money from my fellow Negroes in the fields, and headed down to the local T.V. station to produce my latest campaign commercial.....

Narrator's voice: Every year the house Negroes promises you that things will get better, that with a little hard work, and creativity, you too can one day become the HNIC. He has promised you higher wages, safer neighborhoods, and a choice of schools where you can send your children.~~~~picture of school children playing in the background~~~~ But has the house negro delivered for you? The field-negro says no. Instead, you are left with decaying neighborhoods, rife with abandoned buildings and crack addicts on every corner. Money that should be spent to make our neighborhoods safer, is being sent to places like Iraq to fund an unnecessary war; a war which the field-Negroes opponent, the house negro, supported and continues to support. Instead of higher wages, jobs are leaving the areas around our cities and heading to states where big corporations pay new workers minimum wage. They are heading to suburban areas where you cannot afford transportation to be able to go to work.
