The strange case of Brandon Tate Brown, and another mass murder in middle America.

Image result for tate brown imagesI have been watching the case of Tate Brown  here in Philly for awhile now.

This case, unlike other cases of police brutality, did not make national headlines.

I think I know why.

I also did not jump into the fray, because, quite frankly, I did not see an Eric Garner, or even a Michael Brown type scenario playing itself out here.

The truth is I represent a lot of people like Tate Brown. They are not angels or choir boys, and, if what is alleged is true, like Tate Brown, they make their living in the streets.

So when I heard about the shooting death of Tate Brown on a street in Frankford section of Philadelphia, I gave the police officer (or officers) who shot him to death the benefit of the doubt. Although my instincts tell me that as a person of color I should have known better.

Now, sadly, there is a genuine issue as to whether Tate Brown was executed or he was shot to death by police officers following proper police procedures.

There has been no social media outcry or no calls for marches on a national scale, because Tate Brown had a gun in his car, and he had an extensive criminal record.

But does all of this matter? If he was not threatening the lives of the police officers who were arresting him, did he deserve to die?

Now the powers that be are giving us yet another story about what happened that night.

"THEY SAY the devil is in the details. And the details of Brandon Tate-Brown's December death at police hands are getting more devilishly contradictory daily, the lawyer representing the dead man's family said yesterday.

Meanwhile, the head of the Police Advisory Commission yesterday viewed videos pertaining to the incident and provided an account of what they show.

Initially, police said that the officer who shot Tate-Brown during a routine car stop on Dec. 15 in Frankford did so because he lunged for a handgun hidden in the console of his 2014 Dodge Charger as he struggled with two cops outside.

But now, they're saying Tate-Brown also "reached for his waistband" in the skirmish, according to a narrative of the incident police posted on their website.

A police spokesman attributed the discrepancies to the preliminary report issued to the public, which contained information that has since been updated as a result of further investigation.

Attorney Brian Mildenberg said Tate-Brown's autopsy report shows that cops gave the Medical Examiner's Office different details than what police officials have released publicly.

Specifically, police told the Medical Examiner that the officers asked Tate-Brown, 26, to step out of his car because they ran his plates and found they were registered to a different car-rental agency than where Tate-Brown told them he'd gotten the car.

One of the officers noticed the gun, the medical examiner's report notes, after he and his partner approached the car a second time - not upon their initial approach, as police officials have repeatedly said.

Police officials have maintained that the officers pulled Tate-Brown over on Frankford Avenue near Magee because his car headlights were out. However, the police statement made no mention of license-plate discrepancies. Meanwhile, the medical examiner's report makes no mention of the headlights. Instead, investigator Natalie Young notes only the license-plate issue.

Kelvyn Anderson, the executive director of the Police Advisory Commission, viewed footage from the incident yesterday at the behest of Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey.

He also reviewed statements from four witnesses at the scene, as well as other evidence." [Source]

Finally, another mass killing in America and another collective yawn from the citizens of our fine country.

Maybe if the killer had chosen to wear a dress with controversial colors he would have gotten our attention.

Hey, the NRA say they've got the situation well in hand. They assure us that the solution is more weaponry, to pave the way for a "good gun with a gun" to save us.

I guess they mean this guy:

So apparently all we have to do is kick back and wait for The Punisher to show up and wipe out all the evil-doers. I'm sure he'll be along any minute now.

Field, re: Tate Brown, 'forget-a-bout-it. Cops in Philly are never prosecuted and you know it. I challenge you to find one case where a Philly cop was indicted for killing a bm....NONE...Nota.

Hell, even Alabama is ahead of Philly when it comes to indicting a cop for harming a man of color.

What surprises me is they haven't locked your ass up yet. That reminds me to ask, "when they lock you up, what's going to happen to FN?"

I'd like to put in my bid to keep it running. What do you say, brother man?

don't forget Lilac. She would like a piece of the FN action too. But, we really don't know how reliable she is. She seems a little 'shakey' to me.

Huh. You'll never quit, will ya field.

Your homie Holder just had to SUCK IT UP and admit the Feds had no case in prosecuting Zimmerman in that poor, innocent, purple dranking, Trayvon Martin" case again.

Let's start another one!

Oh. You're trying.

Once again the majority race has studied all people on this planet. Close to home. Mr. Holder HAD TO BE placed in the office of AG to insure Mr. Obama take no flak either way in regards to the system that is working in America. Needless to say, I think we might be on automatic.

Looking at the shows my people are appearing in, I can not imagine no other race being substituting into current roles. Even when Blacks are placed in supervisory roles either they have some character flaw or some personal defect- ie drug use or alcohol.

Majority of whites having formed opinions of Blacks by the tube can only have a non-empathy response to any situation. Lucky I have my family as an example- because I too will respond just as the majority do.

This is a bit off topic, but if cops aren't held accountable for brutality, there's probably a lot of evidence getting planted too.

Hey Field, any opinion on the Obama FCC illegally asserting control over the internet? Will you support them as long as they only censor speech you don't like?

The DHS funding debacle has been kicked down the road a week. I would be happy if the entire agency was disbanded. According to the Obama administration, "returning veterans", people who talk about “individual liberties”, those who have "patriotic bumper stickers", or anyone who is "concerned about illegal immigration" is a potential terrorist.

Worried your government might consider you a potential terrorist? Check out their list:

http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-72-types-of-americans-that-are.html

Don't worry, no one would ever accuse you of “being suspicious of centralized federal authority”.

There is also no need to worry if you are a member of a Somali mosque funneling money back to ISIS. Radical Islamists, the group actually responsible for 95%+ of terrorist acts globally, are missing from the list.

Obama has identified his enemies, and they are those that are “reverent of individual liberty”, anyone who “is frustrated with mainstream ideologies” or that exhibits “fear of Communist regimes”.

If they ever did start rounding up the kind of people on their list, would you have a problem with it?

I don't know about Malificent, but she does look kind of weird now. Her surgery has had the same effect as if about a pound of makeup had been applied to her by a mortician. Her face is unnaturally smooth and plastic-looking. Maybe she went to the same guy who did Mickey Rourke and Kenny Rodgers?

But putting her appearance aside and moving on to more substantial issues, I find the GOP's embrace of her irksome.

It's already annoying that Republicans are always promoting executives to "run the government like a business." This is just a stupid philosophy. Government is not a business and should not be run like one, and all this really means is that the GOP want someone to run the government to serve rich people's interests and deny everyone else's.

But even within that foolish belief system, if you truly think CEOs are who this country really needs leading it, wouldn't you at least want them to be successful CEOs? Carly wasn't even successful. Her most famous job was managing HP, and she was driven out in a revolt by shareholders angry that she was destroying the company. Not really a great resume.

Carly just seems like further proof that the GOP will lower its candidate standards into the basement to snatch up anyone minority or female, in a fruitless attempt to pretend they are not massively sexist and racist.

"Hey Field, any opinion on the Obama FCC illegally asserting control over the internet? Will you support them as long as they only censor speech you don't like?"

Oh for fuck's sake!

Nobody is censoring anyone. Just the opposite -- the FCC is blocking greedy telecom companies like Comcast from charging yet more money for the same damn service they are already offering.

If the FCC did nothing, that really would result in censorship, in that Internet traffic by deep-pocketed companies would get through, while traffic by everyone else would end up more-or-less blocked by Comcast.

Some people are so totally uncritical of obvious corporate propaganda. I'm betting you get ripped off when buying a car, too, because you believe the dealership is your friend -- because he tells you so and he is smartly dressed.

There must be a good reason the media decided the story about the dress was more important than net neutrality or zimmerman not being charged with hate crime or IRS emails being found.

Gotta wonder what else the media was trying to distract from.

"If the FCC did nothing, that really would result in censorship,"

Um, no, censorship can only occur when the government does something, like assert that they have authority to manage internet content.

Comcast is one supplier among many, and the idea that letting a company charge what it wants for its services amounts to "censorship" is just infantile.

"Um, no, censorship can only occur when the government does something, like assert that they have authority to manage internet content."

When a handful of companies have total control of communications networks, and collude on policy, as they do in the U.S., then there is no meaningful difference between their management of speech over their networks and the government's management of speech.

It is a distinction without a difference.

Cable and Internet providers should always have been treated as regulated utilities, because that's what they are -- utilities.

And now they will be.

Win.

They do not "collude on policy", and if they did, there are already laws against this that the government can apply.

And I agree with you: Liberals think the flow of information should be a regulated utility, because then they can control the narrative completely.

Why are you so eager to be a slave?

Consider what Obama has already done: outlawed the AR-15 and .308 rifles by banning the bullets, seized control of the internet with “secret” 300 pages of rules that have the force of law. Signed the US up to Cap and Trade without a treaty. Signed a treaty allowing Iran to have nukes without a Senate Vote.

Black men like Tate Brown have contributed to the virtual destruction of black "communities" from one end of this country to the other. I have NO sympathy for his kind. The black community he lived in is probably a better place without him in it.

Except none of those things has actually happened.

*No ammunition has been banned.

*There is no cap and trade system (although many environmentalists want this, or better yet, a carbon tax).

*Congress still has to approve the end product of any nuke negotiations with Iran in order to end sanctions against them.

You've obviously been mainlining bullshit conspiracy theories from WorldNetDaily or some other wackadoodle disinformation dealer.

Unplug from the crazies. You'll be a lot happier.

Alright, I want to take one thing back on my comment about the Iran sanctions. I was correct on my point that Obama cannot unilaterally end sanctions against Iran.

But I have to admit that the president can, effectively, cut Iran some slack by diverting Treasury Dept resources away from enforcement, issue a temporary waiver giving them some relief, etc. None of these measures would outlast his presidency (i.e., most of two years). This is the same thing he is doing with immigration, which the GOP is likewise dishonestly describing as giving illegal immigrants permanent residency (he does not have the power to do that).

So you have a point there -- but it is a very tiny one.
