Blaming Obama for racism.

Image result for roger simon images * "Speaking in the wake of the Dallas horrors, President Obama correctly assured us that race relations are not as bad in this country today as they were during the Watts riots of the sixties.

But that was over fifty years ago and is only part of the story.  Throughout the eighties and nineties and into the 21st Century those relations had improved to the extent that none other than the great actor Morgan Freeman could have this 2005 exchange with host Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes.

WALLACE: Black History Month, you find...

FREEMAN: Ridiculous.WALLACE: Why?
FREEMAN: You're going to relegate my history to a month?
WALLACE: Come on.
FREEMAN: What do you do with yours? Which month is White History Month? Come on, tell me.
WALLACE: I'm Jewish.
FREEMAN: OK. Which month is Jewish History Month?
WALLACE: There isn't one.
FREEMAN: Why not? Do you want one?
WALLACE: No, no.
FREEMAN: I don't either. I don't want a Black History Month. Black history is American history.
WALLACE: How are we going to get rid of racism until...?
FREEMAN: Stop talking about it. I'm going to stop calling you a white man. And I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You're not going to say, "I know this white guy named Mike Wallace." Hear what I'm saying?
Hear what you're saying?  Boy, do I ever. And that part about "Stop talking about it" - nothing makes more sense.  Since racist acts were already against the law and had been diminishing, the best way to extinguish, or seriously curtail, the remaining racism was to stop talking about it, to stop making such a big deal about it, to call each other by our names and not our races and let the racial scab slowly heal and disappear.

Just a few years later, the scab appeared very much healed with the inauguration of America's first African-American president, a man who would be elected twice. I didn't vote for him for policy reasons, but his election brought tears to my eyes as a former civil rights worker. America's long nightmare, as Dr. King might have put it, was over, at least as over as things could be in this imperfect world.

But it wasn't - not by a long shot. It went the other way. Driven by what I call in my book "nostalgia for racism," racial enmity was brought back as surely as Michael Corleone was pulled back in in Godfather III.

Why?

Power, of course.  The Democratic Party relies on the perceived reality of racism for the identity politics on which it feeds. Racism is the lifeline of the Democrats.

Votes lie there." [More]

I just read *Roger Simon's silly and misguided essay about the rise of racism in America in its entirety.

As is to be expected, this political right wing gang member chose to blame America's first black president for the racial fears and hatred that has metastasized among people in the majority population.

Simon uses all the usual tricks of the right wing conservatives who like to pretend that racism does not exist, and that he, and those of his ilk, are not somehow complicit with its spread.

He marched with King. He knew Good Negroes who were just so nice. Tears came to his eyes when he saw the election of Barack Obama. (Of course, by his own admission,  he didn't vote for him. Not because of his race of course. Of course Roger.) He longs for the days when Negroes knew their place.

Then, of course, like most conservatives, he attacks the entire Black Lives Matter movement. Why? Because, in his eyes, they represent something that is no longer needed in America: racial provocateurs who open the ugly scabs of America's racial history. A history, that in his mind, the rest of us are trying so hard to forget.

It never occurred to Simon that the reason that votes "lie there" is because most of the people who belong to his political gang are, in fact racist, and we (black people) know it.

The fact that he honestly believes that America was making racial progress because "the great actor" Morgan Freeman had the nerve (and uppityness) to speak openly to Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes, says all that you need to know about him and his ideological soul-mates.

I guess when your standards for true racial equality are so low, we have come a long way.

Racial acrimony is how the left keeps blacks fired up and in line and whites on the defensive.

Democrats live on hatred and fear.

The closer they get to their goal, the more blood is going to be spilled on our streets.

Fuck Obama.

Marc Lamont Hill claims black people can't be racist.

Racists are fond of declaring themselves to be incapable of racism.

If it's true that black people can't be racist because they lack the "institutional power" to "deploy racism," then does Hill admit that downscale whites also cannot be racist?

Who has more institutional power -- David Duke or Spike Lee?

Racists make up a lot of self-justifying bullshit to explain why their racism is "just the natural order of things."

Fuck Marc Lamont Hill.

FREEMAN: What do you do with yours? Which month is White History Month? Come on, tell me.

WALLACE: I'm Jewish.
---

The Jew is white when it serves him, and not white when it doesn't. The Jew sics the blacks on the whites and tells the whites it's their fault.

Fuck Mike Wallace.

Not talking about it might work OK for rich people, but almost everything works OK for rich people.

What would Field talk about?

Field, on your other blog, A Gay Black Man With AIDS Speaks, you talked about the need for One Love - that is, everybody should just get down and get freaky with everyone, til everyone on the earth is the color of Stacey Dash. I'm with ya, Brother! I had sex with NINE men just this weekend alone, and though we can't make babies together (not yet, anyway ...) we were all one big Pile Of Love. A XXX-rated Benetton ad, we were.

My T-cell counts have been good lately, so I splurged a little bit, what the hell. How are your T-cell counts, Field? Have you seen Tay-Tay lately? I ran into him the other day and he didn't look so good. Maybe you should give him a call.

Peace Out!

The best response to the conservative argument that black on black crime kills way more blacks than cops do, that I've heard, came from Jon Stewart. We expect more from officers of the law than we do from gang bangers. I think Obama may have done more to diminish racism in the long run than anyone ever has, just with the example he has set. When you see how conservatives think, we can see that Obama could never get something like the Civil Rights Act passed. Only Nixon can go to China. When Obama was a state senator in Illinois, he wrote and passed legislation that got police interrogations video taped. That was an important civil rights accomplishment and he was highly respected here. Another bit of interesting triva is that there was no drop in voter turnout when Obama ran for the senate against Alan Keyes. Conservatives think they aren't racist because they like house negroes. In reality, they see Obama being president as him not knowing his place.

White people come here seeking absoution. Fuck that.

The conclusive response to the claim that police killings of Blacks make Black Lives Matter essential, when the same BLM ignores the soaring rate of Black-on-Black killings where they've achieved their objective of de-policing, is to call them liars.  It is obvious that Black lives DO NOT MATTER TO THEM.  Only Black criminal lives, and Black fighters-against-civilization, matter to them.

BLM is a terrorist group, and anyone rallying for BLM is an active insurgent.  The appropriate response to BLM is to shoot them on sight.

James Bold said...

"they see Obama being president as him not knowing his place."

We see Obama siding with baseless Black grievances (e.g. Henry Louis Gates) and Black thugs (Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown) over sanity, law and order as a betrayal of the promise he presented when he ran.  But you wouldn't understand betrayal, because you have no concept of loyalty.  This is why you aren't America and never can be.

Good post. Roger, like Rudy Guliani and the rest of these guys never take responsibilty for their part in the divisivness. Tonight on Chris Hayes' show he had a former NYPD officer who now teaches at John Jay college, Eugene O'Donnell. This dude broke it down like no one else I've heard before. His takedown of Rudy was a sight to behold. Check it out if you get a chance.

Speaking of Giuliani who wants to lecture teh blacks about how to interact with law enforcement wasn't his daughter arrested for shoplifting? Just another hypocritical conservative.

Speaking of conservatives did the gop just put an anti-porn plank to their party platform? I hope it's a joke because if not reality and sanity have completly left the Republican Party.

PilotX said...

Holy shit dude, just read an article in Fortune magazine (using a mobile device so can't link) that listed some of the provisions that passed the committees. Calling internet porn a public health crisis, giving conversion therapy ligitamacy, going against gay marriage and calling for the bible to be taught in American History. Well, they definitely don't want any young voters. Going off the rails much? Cleveland is going to be soooooo much fun.

qnc jelly gamat Realize it or not, we live in this world depends on the environment, we drink water from our environment, we breath air from our environment and we eat foods which are planted from :
qnc jelly gamat
qnc jelly gamat
qnc jelly gamat
qnc jelly gamat

QnC Jelly Gamat Our environment has a great influence in our live. Our environment gives us life. Good or bad the condition of our environment will definitely affect our live even our existence. Our environment is our life.QnC Jelly Gamat Let’s close our eyes and remember few years back. Few years ago, there were many green trees around us but now those green trees are gone and replaced with grey stiff buildings QnC Jelly Gamat Few years ago, we could still breath deeper to fill our lung with fresh air of oxygen but now that refreshing oxygen was gone and replaced with thick Carbon Monoxide. QnC Jelly Gamat Few years ago, we could still look at our reflections on the river because of the clear water but now those reflection was gone and replaced with pale face of trash QnC Jelly Gamat

qnc jelly gamat Grey stiff building that we see, carbon monoxide that we breath, and polluted water that we drink become our daily menu right now Do we just stay still and enjoy those bitter menu everyday? Or qnc jelly gamat can do something small hoping to see green trees, breath fresh oxygen, and drink clear water once more Small action such as planting some trees, put trash in the right place, save electricity, and reduce the usage of motor vehicle will save our environment from destruction. qnc jelly gamat If those small actions are done by people in this world, it will create an opportunity to restore our environment from destruction once more The future condition of our environment depends on qnc jelly gamat. We who live now have a big responsibility to restore our environment so in the future we can still live a better life qnc jelly gamat

There is no such thing as "white guilt". That was a phrase created by racists to intimidate well meaning white people with a conscience.

On the sanity front maybe now people will listen to logic when David Brown broke it down. He rightly says he doesn't like open carry and the ability of citizens to obtain assault rifles because in a situation like in Dallas the cops don't know who's a good guy or a bad guy. Only insane people want random joes wandering the streets with assault rifles. What could possibly go wrong?

What absolution do we need? At what point will it be enough? The balkanization of America has begun and everyone is picking their team. This will not end well.

field negro said...

Sure it will. The Republic has survived much worse.

arthur thurman said...

It will be interesting. Although I wasn't a supporter of Mr Sanders, it was kind of sad to watch him today take his 30 pieces of silver and throw 100% support behind Mrs Clinton. I understand he is trying to influence the party and keep his issues in the spotlight however, his performance today makes one wonder why he ran at all.

arthur thurman said...

And yes, the Republicans are off the rails as well.

arthur thurman said...

He also made a strong point about how the cops can't do it all and how society has responsibilities to care for the mentally ill and howner family bonds have been weakened over the decades leading to where we are now.

The "conversation" is a one-sided and dishonest joke. There's no point in whites joining it. Withdraw the police from the ghettos and let nature take its course.

Anonymous said...

Withdraw the police from the hoods indeed. I agree.

I live in a town where the black population is declining as a percentage of our town. One of the reasons I moved here.

These rock throwing, traffic stopping, violent events by BLM and their murderous supporters who are killing white police officers have completely hardened my feelings against blacks in general. I'm not alone. Screw it.
