Carly plays Karlisha, and Albright College has a problem.

Some of you Negroes won't be thrilled about this post, but every now and then we have to get real with each other and have a serious talk about some of the racial issues facing our country.

So there has been an epidemic of young white college students co-opting black  culture in a mostly negative way. They participate in what they consider stereotypical black behavior, and they more often or not imitate or mimic the worst part of our culture.

In most cases this type of behavior is rooted in racism  and ignorance. Please don't ask me how I  can tell the difference between what is racist and what is not. Let's just say many years of being black on this planet has given me a unique racismdar. (Not a real word, I just made it up.)

There are incidents that are easy to define. This one, this one, and this one come to mind. ( Memo to white college kids:Dropping the n word is never good when you try to use it while wearing your blackface.) My racismdar says that the examples I linked were more out of what we now define as  racism than ignorance. And all the students who participated in those incidents should be forced to pick up a book and read about the history of this country.

There are other cases, though, that are not so easy to define. Take, for instance, a recent incident that took place not too far from here in Philadelphia where I reside, at a wonderful institution of higher learning called Albright College.

Here are the details:

"Albright College in Pennsylvania has suspended two students after a blackface video mocking the Black Lives Matter movement went viral.

The video, which was uploaded to one of the girls’ Snapchat accounts, shows a girl named as Carly Dickinson wearing blackface makeup.

She calls herself Karlisha and mocks the movement throughout the video. Halfway through, she is seen with padding stuffed down her pants and twerking.

The other suspended student is understood to have recorded the offensive video.

The students were asked to leave the Pennsylvania campus immediately and an investigation is ongoing. Albright, a private college, recently received an award for its diversity.

“As we continue to investigate the matter, we have learned that multiple students of multiple races were involved. We will continue to review the facts of the matter so that the most appropriate sanctions for those who took part can be determined,” the college announced on Facebook."

Poor Carly has made a bad decision, and it might cost her in the long run. It has already cost her time in school, and I suspect that things could go downhill for her from here.

Now here is the thing- and this is where some of you black folks might come at me-most of you know that I abhor censorship, and so even in the cases of clear racism as some of the examples above, I would not have banished the students involved from the rest of the student population. Expose them? Yes. Debate them? Yes. But expulsion, IMHO, seems a bit much.

But back to Carly Dickinson. I know a little bit about this case, because I have some inside information from some very good sources.

First, the other young lady who was filming "Karlisha's" Negro impersonation was black. Second, by all accounts, she (Carly Dickinson ) was dating (or has dated) an African American young man, and she was living in the most diverse dorm on campus.

Now all of this doesn't mean that somewhere deep in her heart she doesn't have a deep-seated hatred for black folks. (Slave owners raped their slaves and even had children with them.) But my racismdar is just not going up over this one.

Sadly, I am afraid that the good folks at Albright College might have overreacted here.  I know that some of the students there are angry, but sometimes you just have to hold the reins and say, let's all step back and engage each other.

"For Niani Marz, a video featuring an Albright College student wearing blackface was not a joke to be ignored or overlooked.

Marz, an Albright senior from Brooklyn, N.Y., was one of many students who attended a campus forum Friday to discuss the video. She wore a sign on her chest that read: "There is nothing funny about the color of my skin."

"I am offended," she said, "I am hurt. It hurts that this happened on our beautiful, diverse campus."

Niani, you should be hurt, but you should be hurt because Carly Dickinson will no longer be on campus to tell you what the hell she was thinking.

"mimic the worst part of our culture"

Well hell man, what are the good parts? I'll be sure and check them out.

With the death of bebop and funk/soul music, about all that is left is athletics.

I agree. Like Molly Ivins, I'm a first amendment liberal, and even when I find it distasteful, I would rather those I disagree with are out in the open with whatever vicious drivel they have running around in their minds before it feeds back into their behavior.
Less anxiety that way.

At what point does freedom of expression warrants "censorship"? Years ago, one of the leading racists of the time was allowed to expound his views on national television.

Rather than whites condemning his views, as I had hoped, they actually embraced them. Racist views that are allowed to fester leads to a prayer group being slaughtered. Surely you remember Dylann Storm Roof?

We're talking not just about freedom of speech, but freedom of expression. Should we allow Nazis on campuses, and allow them to spew their hatred against Jews, blacks, gays, and other undesirables, for the sake of freedom of expression? Hitler spent a large amount of his time vehemently attacking Jews verbally before he turned on them physically.

Words of hatred are so many precursors to the actual physical acts themselves, and no amount of debate will change outlooks or perspectives that are already set in stone.

To be sure, it wasn't an appeal to their rationality that brought them to the edge of racist thoughts, but an appeal to their emotions.

I say cull the herd, before the whole herd is infected. I say protect the water supply before the whole well is poisoned. I say "banish" those students who would use any academic setting to promote their brand of hatred, prejudices or bigotries.

If we censor nothing on campuses, but allow all, who wish, the opportunity to have their freedom of expression, to have their say, then where do we draw the line; should we then allow rapists to make their case, or child molesters, or those who would expel from the country whole ethnic groups on the pangs of great bodily harm simply to uphold a value that may cause others severe anguish, or do them great mental and bodily harm?

Violence can take many forms. It's not always physical, and it can't always be seen. Forcing blacks to use separate public facilities--water fountains, restrooms, and excluding them from other public venues--was a freedom of expression of a sort, and that freedom of expression inflicted immeasurable harm on many generations who were forced to capitulate. Discussion of these forms of violence wasn't what ended them. They ended because many blacks, and some whites, put their lives on the line to stamp out large portions of the color line.

Not sure where to go with this one. Young people certainly are goofy but she should have known better. The sista filming this should also be disciplined because I bet Carly thought it was ok because sistagirl was filming it. But let's be real, how many times have we seen other students get in trouble because of stuff like this? Maybe Carly just isn't bright enough to be in college? Stupid can hurt sometimes.

"Please don't ask me how I can tell the difference between what is racist and what is not."

NEWS FLASH!  A Google asserts the right to determine what is and is not "racism", without actually defining it!  Film at 11.

"( Memo to white college kids:Dropping the n word is never good when you try to use it while wearing your blackface.)"

Memo to googles:  asserting that you have a unique right to a word IS racism.  The only reason you aren't laughed out of society when you say so is because the Left has turned you into sacred objects in its pantheon.  But the alt-right's iconoclasts are coming apace.

Get ready for the fall.  It's going to be a hard one.

"Poor Carly has made a bad decision, and it might cost her in the long run."

Whereas the un-housebroken animals in this picture will be allowed to continue to misbehave, because "racism".

I hope to see the day that college administrations are slapped with injunctions and fines for such grossly racist disparity in expectations and enforcement.

Racists aren't born.  They're made... by exposure to Black people.  As you can see, that even goes for coal-burners.

To: Deplorable: "Racists aren't born. They're made... by exposure to Black people."

I can see that. If those blacks you encountered (and it couldn't have been that many) had bent to your will, had acknowledged your inherent racial superiority, then you wouldn't have been obliged to bring forth your "racist" animus, feelings that would have remained dormant had blacks submitted--heart and soul--to your racial supremacy.

Shame on them. Had they submitted, you wouldn't have been a racist, at least not in your own mind.

Take heart field hands! Brian Ogle a vile racist senior from Sylacauga high school in Alabama was beaten by a group of our brothers last Friday.

This horrible person had the audacity to post comments supporting police on social media. Our heroes hunted him down in a local hardware store. From there these brave souls beat down the despicable Brian Ogle.

Brian Ogle has sustained a fractured skull among the many other contusions administered by our valiant warriors. He currently resides at UAB medical center.

Brian suffered from the "unintended consequences" of his racist opinions. No one is safe from the long arm of "black lives matter". Let this serve as a reminder to all the deplorable and irredeemable bigots that harbor the belief they have a right to voice their beliefs or point of view.

No, my little bozo, I support the first amendment, just like I said in my comment. I know reading can be hard for some people, but I'm not going to censor my writing down to two syllable words for the reading impaired.

@Field Negro: "I want them right out front where I can see them."

And you have proved my point. We can discuss my position, debate it, analyze it, and you'll be of the same opinion still.

Just think how much harder it would be to change a racist's mind with the use of "debate" and "exposure," when so many of his fellow countrymen are not only benefiting from racist practices, but have had decades to mull over the racist practice's of this country, and do so from a personal, as well as a historical perspective.

Cliven Bundy was exposed as a racist, but he doubled down on his position: Today's blacks would be "better off as slaves, picking cotton." More than likely, he found a general agreement, a consensus, for his position, as well as won over many whites to his point of view, thanks to a ratings-greedy news media that gave him a platform.

How many times has the avowed racist, James Deplorable, been "exposed" here, and "debated" here, with little or no effect?

If anything, he's hardened his position, and perhaps even won over some fence-sitters to his way of thinking simply because he was given a platform from which to spew his hatred of blacks, and to do so without censorship, and without guidelines.

"mull over the racist practice's of this country"

I have to some extent, and so far as I can tell racist practice tends to consist of situations like -

Equality of opportunity, not outcome
Law abiding behavior
Expecting people to work hard towards goals (H/T to recent immigrants from India, Mexico, etc. in this area).

There's a great irony in that whites don't want to enslave or belittle blacks, they simply want to be left alone. It seems to me that the internet has amped up the ability of certain groups to be troublesome. In the past, those groups were simply an occasional story in the morning newspaper rather than a barrage of media.

The truth is Blacks just want to be left alone too, but were given little choice. Remember, you came looking for us, and we are here to stay…so deal with it. Additionally, you are lying to yourself if you think that there are no whites who want to enslave/belittle Blacks. There are plenty who would, if given the chance, happily enslave Black people. When you call the President of the United States and his First Lady a gorilla, you are belittling Blacks, when you “accidentally” use or call someone the “N-word”, you are belittling Blacks, when you label Blacks as criminals, drug dealers, thieves, etc. (as if only Black people commit crime) you are belittling Black people. If you don’t want to acknowledge this, if you want to bury your head in that sand, that is your choice…but don’t try to get me to believe something that you know is not true because I know better.

"The truth is Blacks just want to be left alone too, but were given little choice."

When you googles robbed, raped, firebombed and otherwise ethnically cleansed White people from Detroit, did you just stay there and enjoy your google-majority city?  Not a chance.  You decided you didn't like it anymore and moved out to be with the White people again.  (Yes, it became a shithole... but it was YOUR shithole.)

That's the problem with you googles.  You lie all the time, even to yourselves.

"Remember, you came looking for us, and we are here to stay…so deal with it."

The Hutu of Rwanda got rid of 20% unwanted population in 100 days, using mostly clubs and knives.  Blacks are just 14% of the USA, and Whitey is armed with everything from handguns to long-range scoped hunting (sniper) rifles.  Last, most of you are concentrated in ghettos that will be really easy to cordon off and then burn out.  One good firestorm will take out the south side of Chitown; just have to wait for a calm day and use a lot of fuel in the right places.

"Additionally, you are lying to yourself if you think that there are no whites who want to enslave/belittle Blacks. There are plenty who would, if given the chance, happily enslave Black people."

You wish.  You're not wanted, period.  The moment John Rust automated cotton-picking, you became obsolete farm equipment.  Maybe some Arabs would take you, they took the vast majority of African slaves.  It would be just like old times, eh, abeed?

"When you call the President of the United States and his First Lady a gorilla, you are belittling Blacks"

This, from the hypocrites who call Melania Trump a whore.

If words are so painful to you, why don't you go where you don't have to hear them, or even see the people who'd use them?  Liberia's that-a-way.  You can go weeks without seeing a White face if you don't want to, maybe years.

"when you “accidentally” use or call someone the “N-word”, you are belittling Blacks"

You're railing against Whitey, not rappers.  Hypocrite.

"when you label Blacks as criminals, drug dealers, thieves, etc. (as if only Black people commit crime) you are belittling Black people."

Ah, the "Whitey does it too!" defense.  Problem is, Whitey hates these behaviors and jails and shuns the people who engage in them.  YOU make heroes out of them.

This is why you cannot be citizens in a White society.  You have utter contempt for the very things which hold it together:  rule of law, social equality, peaceful behavior.  You will have a choice:  you can go somewhere, or you can just be gone.
