Not everyone is going to feel great!!!!!

Hey Tony the Tiger, you should feel great!!!!. Your boss has done a pretty cool thing.

" In an unprecedented effort to address the devastating impact of racial inequities on communities across the country, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation launched today a five-year, $75 million initiative – America Healing – that aims to improve life outcomes for vulnerable children and their families by promoting racial healing and eliminating barriers to opportunities.

Children of color are over-represented among the 29 million low-income children and families in this country, particularly among families living in concentrated poverty. According to data from the National Center for Children in Poverty, about 61 percent of African American, 62 percent of Latino, 57 percent of Native American, 58 percent of children with immigrant parents, 30 percent of Asian American children and 26 percent of white children live in low-income families.

“The Kellogg Foundation’s vision is for a nation to marshal its resources to ensure that all children in America have an equitable and promising future,” said Sterling K. Speirn, president and CEO. “That is simply not the case in many communities across the country today. The goal of the America Healing initiative is to help make that vision a reality by engaging communities and supporting them in the hard work of racial healing and addressing the effects of historic and contemporary structural issues, such as residential segregation and concentrated poverty.”

During the first phase of America Healing, 119 organizations will receive grants totaling $14,613,709 specifically to support community-based organizations’ healing efforts among racial and ethnic groups that address historic burdens, disparities and barriers to opportunity. Their efforts will focus within local communities to increase opportunities for children in education, health and economic areas. Grantees represent 29 states and the District of Columbia and all racial and ethnic population groups.."

Oh ohhh, I bet conservatives are going to call for a boycott of Rice Krispies. Oh Lawd! All that money to fight racism when we all know that there is no racism in A-merry-ca? 75 million can buy a lot of band aid to start the healing if you know what I mean.
Folks like Paul Shepard are already giving their take on how conservatives will view this little "transfer of wealth."

" I can already hear the nonsense conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and others will spew over the grants. To them, racism is something that exists only in the warped heads of minorities looking for handouts. For them, racial discrimination in this country, if it ever really existed, ended in 1865 when the last slaves were freed in the United States.
Thankfully, the folks at Kellogg don't care about advancing the agendas of conservatives and instead are looking at how racism affects children today..." [Article]

Well it's not only to them Mr. Shepard. Ordinary folks on the Internet feel the same way:

"Will the money be used to combat blacks who are racist against whites?"

"Racism is dead we have a black President, lets move on to the next problem this one has been solved. 75 million for what?"

"The only children facing poverty and discrimination today are the male-children of white Christians. Let's cut the bunk."

That might be true Mr. Internet poster, but please let them eat their Frosted Flakes. They didn't ask for this fight, you did.

It always amazes me to hear white people claim that Black folks are racist against whites. To be racist (or any other kind of "ist") your people have to control institutional power and there is only one kind of folks who does this - white males. So Black people can be hateful, prejudiced, bigoted against white people but not racist. One has to control economics, politics, religion, education, etc. to be an "ist."

No doubt Tony and his bosses are looking towards the future: white males are a vanishing breed no matter how you look at. Better to inject some "help" and healing now than to wait 10/15/20 years down the road. Hell, "A-merry-ca" may have to import some rascists by that time b/c the majority will be black and brown!

Sophia, racism is not just a wites-only disease. To claim otherwise is to allow evil to continue.

Just because we have a black President means that racism is now "dead"? This, from the most simpleminded of the American population that is sadly vast in number.

"The only children facing poverty and discrimination today are the male-children of white Christians. Let's cut the bunk."

We already know where this guy stands. He probably thinks the Aryan Nation and British National Party are benign associations that are merely promoting "white civil rights".

QUESTION: Can a majority feel oppressed by a minority? How in the hell does that work out?

You know that would never happen, so why do you throw that out there?

A grant to help children based on race is by definition racist. But, fuck those poor white kids, they all get into Harvard anyway!

I applaud the Kellog foundation's efforts to help minority kids. God knows, many are in deep need. I just wish the program didn't single out kids by race for exclusion.

My good friend Filled Negro:

Can you detail for me where in the Kellogg press release where they say that RACISM is the cause of these "barriers" that you speak of?

For example with regard to "residential segregation" if the residential housing patterns of today are a result of the DE FACTO preference to live upon people who share your common values and interests and if there is no DE JURE prohibition of people of a differing race to live within a case of RACISM?

It is clear that RACISM remains as your last stand. The "soft tissue injury" which NO ONE with their Xray or MRI can tell you what you feel.

I choose to DISTILL THE ESSENCE OF A 'RACIST'.

* A racist wishes to physically assault you or murder you in order to have his way, terrorize or keep you in your place

* Wishes to suppress your education because an educated Negro might strategize his way out of his predicaments

* Wishes to destroy local economic growth because a well financed Negro community can call their own shots

Filled Negro - WHICH OF THESE "ASSAULTS" are unique to the White on Black conflict in 2010?

It seems to me that when you and other Progressive-Fundamentalists choose to SUPERIORIZE the "White Threat" you retain your ability to render an INDICTMENT (the goal of the progressive).

When a person like me who operates with the notion that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL and thus dares to suggest that a Black man who clubs you upside of the head with a bat will fracture your skill as equally as a White man who bought his bat from the same "Dicks Sporting Goods" store - this undercuts your ability to transact in Black Inferiority. It threatens to force you and others who have control over our key institutions to stand accountable for productivity.

Ironically these very same "racially segregated areas" that Kellogg speaks of have "Mission Accomplished" signs all over the place as proof that despite the success of your previous struggle in the POLITICAL domain - the issues that you claimed would be addressed if we as Black people stuck with you and didn't ask questions - your plan did not focus enough on economic productivity beyond your quest to grab POLITICAL POWER.

Dear Mr. Field,

I have to agree with Anonymous 11:43 pm. I also wish that all poverty-stricken children, regardless of race, were benefitted by Kellogs' largesse.

Do people realize, or remember, that Dr. King was a target for assasination not only for his Civil Rights work and opposition to the Vietnam War, but because he was gathering ALL poor folks together and working on lessening poverty? For so long in our great nation, divide and conquer has been a tactic that our enemy has used. ALL poor people should band together and put pressure on our leaders to end this blight on the American dream.

It would be great if Kellogs would broaden their focus, and help ALL poverty stricken children.

I agree Sue, but I wouldn't have a problem if Kellogg singled out children from just those groups who have a history of oppression, and exploitation in this country, and aren't recipients of "white privilege."

Perspective is everything: It impacts perception.

But not to worry. It's not Kellogg's plan to leave any child behind:

"The $75 million will be spent over three years in grants awarded to organizations that address historic burdens, disparities and barriers to opportunities in education, health and economic issues. The first 119 grantees come from 29 states and the District of Columbia and represent all racial and ethnic population groups. Each organization will receive grants totaling $14,613,709.

“We are funding all groups because this issue is as much an issue for white America as it is for diverse America,” Christopher said.

So, Sue, you can eat your Kellogg brand of choice, knowing that you're contributing to the future hopes of all Americans! The foundation owns 9 billion dollars of Kellogg stock.

I like Frosted Flakes. I haven't eaten them in years, but you can believe, from now on, I won't leave my supermarket without them.

This is the kind of marketing I can get behind. Perhaps others will follow suit. It's also good for the economy, and job creation.

I will send the foundation a "thank you," for creating the initiative.

Another day in the neighborhood.

Two Crown Heights thugs who allegedly raped, drugged 14-year-old girl were 'neighbors from hell'

By Ben Chapman and Samuel Goldsmith DAILY NEWS WRITERS

Sunday, May 16th 2010, 4:00 AM

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and held captive by two Brooklyn men for two weeks in this Crown Heights basement.

The Brooklyn home where a teen was allegedly beaten, raped and drugged for two weeks was a hell house full of violence and wild parties, neighbors said.

The squalor at 1499 President St. in Crown Heights was so extreme that neighbors can believe a 14-year-old girl's alarming accusations that two men cuffed her to a chair in the basement and brutalized her for weeks.

"We all knew there were bad things happening at that house," said Mark Morrison, 61, who lives across the street.

Kevin Evans and Anthony King, both 24, were arrested Wednesday and charged with kidnapping and rape in the attack on the teen.

Evans' mother owned the home for more than 10 years. When she died six years ago, Evans and his pals took over.

Since then, it's been all-night parties, illicit activity and even brawls that spilled into the street, neighbors said.

Several windows are blown out from a fire two years ago, and four pit bulls roam the house, neighbors said.

The dark basement where the girl was allegedly held has a dirty mattress on the floor, a table covered with cigarette butts and an empty bottle of brandy.

"In the summer, neighbors would call the cops every other night," said Ivan Moore, 48, who has lived across the street for 17 years.

Zing:

I have learned that I can't make anyone believe anything in particular. I can only correct their misstatements of the facts and bring forth evidence.

For you - you fail to make proper measure of the facts.

We have a FORCE that has prevailing POWER over the popular consciousness of Black and other "Least Of These People" (note - their words NOT MINE).

Using this monopoly influence it is THEY who do this "Racism Chasing" that you speak of.

If you notice my demands - I am merely seeking to set up a TRANSPARENT SYSTEM by which the "Rank and File" of Black America can effectively evaluate the EFFICACY of these forces that use tired old tactics that they know will have an emotional appeal to Black people.

In summary - YOU ARE WRONG.
I am not "Chasing Racism Chasers". I am merely attempting to erect a PERFORMANCE PLAN around them - christened by the "Black Rank and File". If they live up to the standard - GREAT!! At least there are objective standards in place and I will be pacified. If they FAIL and thus are purged out of power - DOUBLE GREAT!!! Now the Black Rank and File will have to develop a new set of standards by which any person who stands on stage with a microphone in their hand PURPORTING to speak for our community will do so via a DIRECTED SET OF INITIATIVES.

Today they see a gaping hole in management and EXPLOIT THE VOID.

Zing - in my own mind I have a list of the "Top 5 Threats To Black America". I am merely forcing my good friend Filled Negro From The Caribbean to report on issues that are in closer alignment to this list.

Are you now opposed to TRANSPARENCY Zing?

(Note - I am surprised that my friend Filled Negro has not reported about the big news that my Jamaican wife and others are talking about - Jamaican Prime Minster Bruce Golding having lied about his involvement in the lobbying efforts to extradite a Jamaican drug dealer to the USA". SueCityCue:

Do you mind if I ask you a question?

Regarding your plan for "The Least Of These" to band together and PRESSURE THEIR LEADERS to address their poverty.............what COMPETENCIES do you imagine they will have developed in 10 or 30 years time under your plan?

Have you been watching the excellent History Channel series "America The Story Of US"?http://www.history.com/shows/america-the-story-of-us

When it came to JOBS there were no "protests FOR jobs" to be created. Market demands for goods and services were ADDRESSED as individual "consumers of labor" who sought to meet the need EMPLOYED people. As production technology and transportation systems changed (oh yeah and as land was stolen toward the West) our nation prospered and people were employed.

POVERTY IS THE ABSENCE OF A SYSTEM OF WEALTH AGGREGATION. I fail to see how a group can "BAND TOGETHER" to become UNPOOR. Instead they must work in conjunction with each other to PRODUCE WEALTH by assembling RESOURCES.

I fear that YOUR type of system will have resentment and confiscation at its core.

Why does a group of EQUAL HUMAN BEINGS need to "lobby their LEADERS" to address their POVERTY? Right away I see the set up of a transaction of the currency of the BALLOT for the currency of MONEY per their pay check. Does this sound like the private property rights of those who have the money will be respected?

If your plan does not centrally focus upon developing COMPETENCY AMONG THE PEOPLE so that they can be productive "sellers of their skilled labor" to others who are willing to purchase it then your plan is already ill-fated.

(Note - for some reason I figure that the responses to this post will have the words: Citibank, AIG, GM and Goldman Sachs contained within as a justification)

right, that's why kellog is doing this, because their "clientele" are being "lost to poverty." because it's good for the "bottom line." it's a foundation...it doesn't make money. it gives away money. kellogg the company doesn't have a bad image that it needs to prop up by this.

it would so NOT hurt if you could get just a little informed about the world, agape. just a tad.

look at the list of foods they make. by and large it is cheap, unhealthy junk. who do you think is buying that? low income people!

can they clean up their own house first? work on making more nutritious foods --and reduced sugar frosted flakes is NOT going to cut it.

this project isn't about saving lives. it should be. it should be about a new war on poverty--period.

i worry it will be too much "talk" about healing. let me remind you that kellogg is in minnesota, which is nearly 100% white. so what do they know about racism?

you can't start "healing" until the injuries stop. i hope the programs try to recognize racism and combat it, not sooth people's feelings that they should just feel better because they talk a good game.

Excellent point, Sophia! Now I haven't read every opinion and comment on Field's site but this is the first time I have seen anyone really use the word "power" to clearly differentiate between racism and prejudice. (I had been waiting to see this point made. ) Many years ago I studied the theories and dynamics of racism and oppression. I too learned that a key qualifier for being "racist" had to do with the misuse of power...a position in which you use that power to keep a particular race of people from advancement.

When looking at the overall situation in American society (White men being at the top of the "cultural totem pole"), it is easy for some of us to assume that White males, in general, are racist. Yes, they are seen as the majority of the "majority," but are they the ONLY people who are racist in the States? I've heard numerous stories of lawsuits filed against Japanese managers at Japanese auto factories that keep White workers in southern states (TN, KY, etc) from equal advancement. Or even a few African-American real estate agents who skirt around the law and refuse to help other African-Americans find housing in "exclusive" neighborhoods.

Are they racist as well, in your opinion, or merely prejudiced? Just curious...

Unemployment doubled.

Violent crime after reaching 30 year lows in 2000 starting creeping back.
agree with you on the need for another political party structure
Brother RiPPa:

I DID NOT CALL FOR another "POLITICAL" party structure!!!!!

I called for a:

* CULTURAL CONSCIOUSNESS FRAMEWORK
where
*COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT is obtained through HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Do you know how frustrating it is for me to hear Dr Ronald Walters, the man who is the most effective "Democrat Who Is Black" call for a "BLACK VERSION OF THE TEA PARTY"???

I actually respect Dr Walters. He as an academic has studied Black people and know how we think and our grievances. While the propagandists were out on the street profiling and rhyming before the microphone - Dr Walters was negotiating with the DEMOCRATS. He set up a quota by which he would develop the infrastructure by which THE BLACK VOTE WOULD NOT SPLINTER across party lines and thus be brought to the door of the Democratic Party in exchange for helping THEM gain POWER.

Again - I ain't mad at him. He is a smart man.

My problem with him is that in the quest for a UNIFIED BLACK VOTE he allowed this to trump the need for institutions by which the EFFECTIVE ATTAINMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY'S PERMANENT INTERESTS CAN BE ASSURED.

In short - instead of demanding ERNEST MONEY at each interval along the joint trip with the Progressive Democrats he warned of the deadly consequences of ASKING QUESTIONS ALONG THE WAY. IF the Black votes did not come through in each intermediate election - THE REPUBLICANS MIGHT WIN.

Now RiPPa - I take that you are an honest man. Can we agree that there is a "Mission Accomplished" bumper sticker plastered on the car of most "Democrats who are Black". Shamefully - CHICAGO where to my knowledge there is only ONE ELECTED REPUBLICAN - should be the REFERENCE MODEL of what Black people can expect in a Democrat controlled metropolis.

Instead........CHICAGO 2010 stands as a REFERENCE MODEL OF WHAT THE BLACK COMMUNITY SHOULD EXPECT IN A DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED METROPOLIS after we FORGOT to build the institutions by which our PERMANENT INTERESTS ARE OBTAINED.

I struggle to understand why you would ever bother to debate against "REPUBLICANS WHO ARE BLACK". They are equally SOLD OUT to their party as you are. (It pains me at times to listen to them).

RiPPa where is the "FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION" or "Congressional Budge Office" of Black America? The entity that CALLS IT LIKE IT SEES IT. The entity which has the expressed interest in its MANDATE not politicking?

I struggle to understand what TRYING HARDER will bring the Black community.

(This is why the daily Filled Negro "Self-Chum" is so important in keeping the masses DISTRACTED lest they start realizing that in their VICTORY they have not actually won much)

Why don't you talk about the ABSOLUTE control of the LOCAL PROGRESSIVES that YOU ACTUALLY SUPPORTED and how our interests of:

* Safe Streets that they now patrol
* Quality Schools that they now administrate
* Thriving Local Economies which they now set the key economic policies for
* Healthy Relationships per the social/cultural policies they control

have worked out in:

* Chicago

* Trenton
* Camden
* Cleveland
* Buffalo
* Rochester
* Akron
* Philly
* Baltimore
* Washington DC
* Atlanta
* East St Louis

* Houston
* LA
* Miami

Do you see that the BIGGER INDICTMENT is that the more LOCALIZED PEOPLE who you supported as they told YOU that upon their ascension into power YOUR COMMUNITY would be improved.

While I do realize that Bowie MD is the closest thing to heaven on Earth - for some reason the 8th Ward in DC - a few short miles away does not have such benefit - DESPITE the fact that the elected officials from both places shared the same floor in Denver at the Democratic National Convention a few years ago.

ANON@12:06, though I am no expert on the topic, I believe the institutionalized misuse of power to keep a racial group from advancement to be a very active qualifier of racism.

As for the two other questions, more so than the WHOs, I think we may want to focus on WHY such actions are STILL necessary in America even today.

Yes, as you stated, some laws meant to PROTECT minority groups in the States from discrimination by the majority culture may end up discriminating against those in the majority culture itself. Though reverse-discrimination is significant, it isn't the "only" significant form of racist behaviour...if it is even legally seen as such. This is justified by American law in order to reverse the effects of the initial discrimination and/or racism used against those in the minority. I don't know if the chicken came before the egg...but I do know that RACISM definitely came before affirmative action. Sad but very true.

Is it right? NO (in my opinion)...but neither is the fact that many minority-related problems are based on an educational system where minority children are generally...and the key word here is GENERALLY, as there are exceptions out there...not privy to the same level of educational opportunities as children from the majority culture.

The one thing that I LOVE about education in Japan is that taxes are split evenly among all schools in a particular region, thus giving ALL children access to the same quality of education. Teachers are public servants, assigned to schools by the government and rotated every 3-5 years or so. And the high school students are not restricted to attending the schools in their neighborhoods. They test to enter the high school of their choice.

Do we still have that system in the States where public schools in wealthier neighborhoods have access to a greater amount of residential tax money, thus providing better resources and higher pay for the most qualified teachers? And aren't there STILL barriers for certain minorities who wish to reside in those areas? If so, do you agree with the thought that the perpetuation of this kind of cycle ultimately provides for an imbalanced, unfair educational system...with better trained students going to better universities, getting better jobs...and then, in turn, perpetuating the same cycle?

ANON...I can only hope, pray and do what I can to ensure that one day fellow Americans see the true advantage of equality. If a good deal of the US population wasn't forced to live with racism on a daily basis, our country would have no need create laws that support preferential treatment. In order to solve the problem you mentioned, I think we also need to first get to the root of the one I mentioned. Best wishes to you...

Taxes in the U.S. are not evenly split, they are heavily skewed towards big city school districts where "minority" students are the heavy majority. The LA school district spends three times per pupil what your average "privileged" suburban school district spends.

Why are the "richest" schools the worst performing? Obviously, resources are not the answer.

The single best move to improve US education would be to assist parents taking their kids elsewhere through issuing vouchers that approximate the per pupil cost of the district. The public school system here exists to serve the teacher's union, which funnels tax dolars back to the democratic party in the form of political donations. If the public schools had to compete for their student's business, they'd get better in a hurry.

Whats up Field? What up everybody else sister Agape, Uptown, Sister Laurel I see you're becoming a regular I like the quotes you provide, they are great for speech making and just for reference.

I want to start by dittoing what Sofia and Agape said about the definition of racism. Agape I too have posted that definition on several occasions. but we are in an age in which folks just make up their own definitions.

The problem with that of course is that it makes it difficult to call things what they really are.

What the anons are getting at and they would be right is that there are some black folks who are bigoted. But very few bigoted and hateful black folks have the power to enforce their prejudices.

And whoever pointed out that Kellogg is a bit hypocritical when you consider that they produce cereals that have little nutritional value which the poor eat to keep from starving and then turn around and try to help these same folks is on to something.

CF wading through your posts is sometimes tedious but I have to agree with your assessment of the places under the Democratic flag. You are right those places have seen little improvement for poorer brothers and sisters

CF talked about,"institutions by which the EFFECTIVE ATTAINMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY'S PERMANENT INTERESTS CAN BE ASSURED."

This is the closest you have come to providing any concrete solutions to the problems in the black community. I think you are right, the black community indeed does have to build institutions that will promote its own interests.

The reason this has not happened are diverse and long, but we shouldn't give up the idea.

However CF if you are going to represent the rank and file as you suggested in an earlier post you have to listen to the rank and file and be less aloof.

Rank and file black folks definitely see both crime committed by black folks against other black folks as a problem as well as the limitation of opportunities to their advancement known as institutional racism.

While you beat up on Field for belaboring the racism in the community, it cannot be ignored if you really are a supporter of the rank and file. I think it can be manuevered around for a bit, but eventually you will have to confront the reality that racism serves a very real economic function for the ruling class.

And of course CF your other problem is that you pretend that the mega rich didn't get their riches, by exploiting people and resources, sometimes legally sometimes illegally but most time amorally.

You are right we should look at ourselves as capable and equal human beings, but it is dishonest to assume that all human beings are capable of overcoming barriers that are placed in their way.

And if you are going to offer leadership to the rank and file in Black America you simply cannot continue to pretend that while we are equal we all have equal opportunity. Its simply not true.

And CF how do you propose to effect change without a political party?

CF said: "The frustration with your argument is that you fail to see that certain operatives in their quest for POWER AGGREGATION feign INFERIORITY as a means of escaping ACCOUNTABILITY."

Well, CF, as insightful as I often find you, I'd have to disagree with that...and as I know myself better than you know me, I'd be right!!! ;-)

Oh, but I DO know that some people cry racism to avoid the burden of accountability. And yeah...you have every right to call THEM out on it.

My question to Sophia, who wrote the statement you quoted back to me, was whether she felt that minorities in a position of power in the US were capable of exhibiting racist behaviour.

As for people crying racism to avoid accountability, it's not limited to a being "Black" problem. I've seen White Americans leave here in a fit for the comfort of America, citing racist Japanese culture, when I've heard from the other side that there were problems with performance. Did the discrimination and/or racism they faced cause them to not measure up to their abilities? Or did they just not want to be held accountable for their responsibilities? Or did those in charge over them, ultimately Japanese, interfere to the point that the Americans angrily refused to accept what they were expected to be accountable for?? Honestly, I don't know, so I really can't sit in judgment of them.

I DO sit in judgment of these characters, though...

1. I flew into Minneapolis from Japan and walked into the club member's lounge for my carrier while waiting for my next flight. Walked right in behind a group of Japanese tourists and a White couple (both groups had just flown in on the same plane as me). Two sisters at the desk..and who do you think they stopped and checked for club ID...?

2. Getting on another international flight to the States. Entered the plane and turned left to take my seat in business class...an African-American flight attendant (brother) physically blocked me from moving in the aisle and pointed me toward the economy section.

3. Shopping at L. Vuitton in Orlando...walked in the store and had a AA brother walk past me to greet a White couple walking in BEHIND me. Totally ignored me/and refused my request for help until I started picking up and looking at a $3,000 handbag. LOL...! Just a few of many examples.

I have travelled to Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, the Bahamas, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Portugal, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and Peru...and have been treated, for the most part, with more respect than when I travel in the States. (Yes, I know SOME of you here find that hard to believe. LOL!!). The only racism and/or discrimination that stings now when I return home is that which comes from other African-Americans. And that is probably because I assumed they would know how bitter it can taste when people treat you like less than others because of negative assumptions they may have regarding your race. Wrong assumption...

Of course, it's "hypocritical"! Tell me, what isn't hypocritical in the land of the free and home of the brave!

I wish all of America's hypocrites would follow Kellogg's lead, and give back, out of the abundance of their hypocrisy.

Up to now, we've been getting back nothing. Nothing for nothing (cereals that have little nutritional value).

Kellogg's current initiative will, hopefully, change that, something for nothing:

"Their efforts will focus within local communities to increase opportunities for children in education, health and economic areas."

I'd say that Kellogg's initiative, were it be successful, would dissuade future generations away from Kellogg's products, and toward a more healthy lifestyle.

I'd say Kellogg is undermining its own hypocrisy in this initiative. What think ye?

Field,

A $95,000 question: why are whites five times richer than blacks in the US?

• Study finds gaping racial divide in household assets

• Economic policies blamed for growing inequality

A huge wealth gap has opened up between black and white people in the US over the past quarter of a century – a difference sufficient to put two children through university – because of racial discrimination and economic policies that favour the affluent.

A typical white family is now five times richer than its African-American counterpart of the same class, according to a report released today by Brandeis University in Massachusetts.

"Field,

A great find, Gregory.

CF will chalk this up to black progressives failing to elect the right mix of leaders in the black community, and to the 5 threats he's conjured up that he sees as inimical to the black community.

He'll say, there's no racial component to all of this, except that which we bring upon ourselves. The following observation is telling, and one that blacks have long posited as one of the critical factors creating the black vs. white gap in asset attainment:

"Although many black families have moved up to better-paying jobs, they begin with fewer assets, such as inheritance, on which to build wealth. They are also more likely to have gone into debt to pay for university loans."

And, too, blacks are more likely to come through for family members struggling financially, which the next observation underscores:

"There were also social factors, the study found. "In African-American families there is a much larger extended network of kin as well as other obligations. From other work we've done we know that there's more call on the resources of relatively well-off African-American families; that they lend money that's not given back; they help cousins go to school. They help brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, with all kinds of legal and family problems," said Shapiro."

Give me a few hours to post a story that will cement my argument.

In Dekalb County Georgia - the second wealthiest majority Black county in the nation.......right behind that slice of heaven called Prince Georges County MD there was a video of a scenario suffered by a young Black female during Mother's day weekend.

This fine young thang, who was an educated "research engineer" was stopped and then LOCKED UP by the Dekalb County Police (which is commanded by a Black man).

It seems that the computer system used by the Dekalb police reported that this Black female had a SUSPENDED LICENSE. The computer system is tied to the Magistrate Court - which is ALSO HEADED BY A BLACK. The head said that she was sorry for the mistake and is spending $1M to procure a new system.

The BLACK County Board member who appears in the news segment said that this was "not good enough". Too many people are calling her office reporting similar incidents.

As the reporter talks, Angie - she is standing in front of A PORTRAIT ON THE WALL that is the "Mission Accomplished Sign" - the list of Dekalb County Board members. 100% DEMCRAT, majority Black.

Again here is what frustrates me about you Angie. DESPITE the fact that this Black woman was:

* Stopped
* Jailed & Detained For The Weekend
* Confirmed Innocent via Records
* Advocated For

ALL BY BLACK PEOPLE with a favorable PARTY AND IDEOLOGY......to the majority population in the county - YOU STILL hear Toms like WhiteBowieSteve and others IN DENIAL about the POWER that Black people and favorable DEMOCRATS have over our lives today.

You all TRY to give an out, saying "Black people don't control NATIONAL POLICY and thus the WHITE FOLKS COULD ENSLAVE US TOMORROW IF THEY CHOSE".

The only function of this is to MOVE THE GOAL POSTS FAR, FAR AWAY so that you can avoid ACCOUNTABILITY in correlation to the POWER that you have erected into these institutions.

Say tuned for me to upload the video to see for yourself.

I am sure my good friends at AfroSpear will also like to see the news that in the past 2 weeks TWO PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN DEKALB COUNTY GEORGIA AFTER BEING TAZERED.

I will look out for the CIVIL RIGHTS PROTESTS against the people that the NAACP helped get into office.

My friend Mellaneous -

Just as the Navi people said - some times "I SEE YOU" despite your ideological wrapper.

Here is one key point that you are missing with respect to my relationship to the RANK AND FILE.

I feel little motivation to "Get In Where I Fit In" ACCEPTING A LIE OR FRAUD - "Taking one for the team" as PROOF that I am "down".

Do you see all of the taunts that WhiteBowieSteve does against me? The main goal of this is to TEST MY "Racial Loyalties". He wants me to "attack Whitey" on the issues that HE cherry picks. Yet when I show the audacity to apply the "assault" against my STACK RANKING OF PRIORITY ISSUES HARMING BLACK AMERICA - my REFUSAL to "eat the chum" makes me into a "Tom". In truth Black folks should be ashamed that an "Obama Spook" picture sent out by a Republican is able to get talked about more than the 16.5% unemployment rate that our people suffer to-damned-day.

Look at my good friend Filled Negro and his present views about OJ's GUILT. Do you think that (what was it?) 15 years ago that Filled Negro was standing in front of "happy" Black folks proclaiming OJ's GUILT?

The bottom line Mellaneous is that I REFUSE to "go with the flow" for the sake of FITTING IN when it is clear that in picking up the POPULAR MANTLE I am merely passing some litmus test that is based on FRAUD and/or NOT IMPORTANT IN THE ENTIRE DOMAIN OF CHALLENGES THAT WE FACE AS A PEOPLE.

Some times the "Rank and File" need to be stood up against. I am sure that you now appreciate the "Nigra Lovers" from the 1950's and 60's over those who "got in where they fit in" in line with the "Rank and File WHITES".

Am I saying that a portion of the Black community are BIGOTS? YOU'RE DAMNED RIGHT I am. In as much as we are EQUAL HUMAN BEINGS we suffer from the same imperfections that White folks and Asians do. We also have the same STRENGTHS that can be nurtured outward.

By the way, here in New York City, it is easy to see the budgets for every school in the public school system. Everything is online.

Here's some news. The highest per-student expenditures occur at the schools with the worst academic achievement. Those schools spend big sums on remedial teaching as they struggle to overcome the pathologies keeping the majority of black and hispanic students from keeping up.

The best schools in the NY City public school system spend the least because the students at those schools do their homework, get to school on time and behave while they are in class.

You're a goddamn phony.

You're just a sideline heckler, grinning and performing for white racists.

You aren't involved in solving the problems you incessantly decry.

You don't attempt to bring forth any ideas or solutions for dealing with them.

You merely rant about their existence, assign them a color (BLACK)and then whine that they don't get dealt with because blacks vote for the Democrats.

THAT'S IT.

That's your conversation.

It's the same old tired shit that black conservatives have been peddling for 40 years
while enriching themselves and failing to bring any significant portion of the black community over to their side.

What are your goals CF?

To convince black folks that your way is the right way?

Well you've obviously failed on that, won't you admit?

So what will you do now?

Continue to talk down to black people and tell us how stupid we are?

Here is an incredibly intelligent suggestion.

How about telling the truth for starters.

Start by acknowledging why black folks have committed 90% of their political support to the Democrats over the last 50 years.

Both parties should be pursuing the black vote but for some reason the GOP has blown the black vote off.

Don't you think it might help if the GOP actually tried to sell their philosophy to at least the black middle class?????

Oh, I suppose you have to first acknowledge that there IS a black middle class.

Sort of defeats your whole argument, doesn't it?

The bottom line is the engine that has powered the conservative juggernaut of the last generation is anti-minority animus and the aspersion of people of color as troublesome and permanent out-groups.

You, as a black man, ought to be ashamed of yourself for promoting this nonsense.

Yeah, I know.

I should more ashamed of "street pirates".

It's tired CF.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! You never change your spiel about those racist conservatives. You are the poster child for "old tired shit". What has a 90% liberal voting record gotten blacks? The black middle class was growing before 1964 and would in all probability be bigger and better established today if not for the disastrous, family destroying policies of the liberal democrats.

CF points out the utter wreck of majority black communities not to absolve White America, but to point out that maybe, just maybe not everything is the white man's fault.

Well, I would like to think that conservatism had at least something to do with fiscal responsibility, national security, and individual liberties, but, leaving that, did you ever stop to think how this animus between the races is purposefully fostered by the liberal juggernaut?

Much of modern American leftism boils down to encouraging tribalistic attitudes among nonwhites.

Racially fraught situations are used by upper middle class white liberals as class markers in order to put down their rivals of lower rank. In California, for example, upper middle class white liberals almost never educate their children in high school classrooms with large numbers of Mexicans. It’s simply not done. Likewise, how many East Coast elites (white or black) send their kids to schools with large numbers of blacks?

So, for example, if you are a white Calfornian, and your kid goes to a school where Mexicans are dominant in numbers, and is therefore made uncomfortable by Mexican declarations of ascendancy, then that just shows to the white liberal mind that you and your kid are losers. Obviously, you can’t afford private school or to live in an expensive school district, or you aren’t smart enough to figure out how to manipulate the magnet and charter school rackets in order to get in with the right people.

It's a great animus-creating cycle for the liberal elites. If the elite-subsidized minority tribalism provokes the slightest sign of tribalistic reactions among the people who aren't allowed to express group pride—that is to say, Americans, citizens, whites, etc.—then that can be used to cram more expressions of elite-sponsored minority tribalism down the throats of the people who don't have their own approved tribe. Works everytime.

All this animus sure comes in handy at election time. So keep on hating them Teabaggers, and keep supporting them liberals, and we'll all keep on hating to the end.

My thoughts...???
Well, IF I had wronged you, I would apologize...but in this case the frustration you feel has little to do with an "external factor" such as little 'ole me. I think, though I may be wrong, that the frustration you feel has much to do with the cognitive dissonance manifesting in YOU! Simply put, I can't... shouldn't and WON'T be held accountable for that.

What I often enjoy reading in your posts are the opposing views that posters sometimes do not consider and/or do not acknowledge. The attacks you fling when others do not see or acknowledge life AS YOU DO, I could do without and ignore. I do not take your word as absolute, nor do I expect you to accept mine as such. That is the beauty of debate, in general.

As I have mentioned here before, the little time I spend in here is about learning from others. What YOU do with your time and energy in here, as you offer your own idea of "constructive" feedback through relations with us, speaks volumes about you as a man and what you are willing to offer to ANY community. I challenge you to step up and first be that respect that you command so in here.

As for your thoughts, CF:

"Am I saying that a portion of the Black community are BIGOTS? YOU'RE DAMNED RIGHT I am."

I agree with this. Some of us are, whether we'd like to admit it or not.

"In as much as we are EQUAL HUMAN BEINGS we suffer from the same imperfections that White folks and Asians do."

I also agree with this...and would like to add that although we are EQUAL HUMAN BEINGS...we are often not treated as such. This undoubtedly places many of us at a grave disadvantage, in my opinion.

"We also have the same STRENGTHS that can be nurtured outward."

I whole-heartedly agree!! One of the most inspiring comments I have read from you to date.

@anon 11:37--"Much of modern American leftism boils down to encouraging tribalistic attitudes among nonwhites."

After a comment like that, I understand why you insist on being anonymous. I don't blame you.

Tribalistic attitudes didn't create the "paper's please" law in Arizona, nor did it remove ethnic studies from public schools--good ol' Republican/conservative values did that.

"In California, for example, upper middle class white liberals almost never educate their children in high school classrooms with large numbers of Mexicans...."

I doubt the veracity, or accuracy of your statement, but I'll let it pass.

Let me ask this, instead: How many upper middle class white conservatives are educating their children in predominantly Latino classrooms?

From what you imply, conservatives got to be represented to a higher degree that liberals.

"Obviously, you can’t afford private school or to live in an expensive school district, or you aren’t smart enough to figure out how to manipulate the magnet and charter school rackets in order to get in with the right people."

What kind of elitist crap is this? I've got to say this. I've been holding back, but I can't any longer: YOU, AND OTHERS OF YOUR ILK, ARE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY!

This crap was cooked up in a conservative mind. Are you telling me that, as a conservative, you're above this supposed liberal mindset?

I don't think so.

Try Rudolf Flesch. He'll cure you of what ails you. You may find to your utter amazement that you, too, are a liberal, and awake from your conservative nightmare.

"De Gama was initially rejected by the sultan at Mombasa although his bitter rival, the sultan of Malindi welcomed the explorers. The new immigrants did not settle in quietly, however, and within a few years the Portuguese had looted and ransacked several Swahili cities.

"The Portuguese remained on the East African coast for 200 years with well established trading posts. These newest immigrants spent their time trading gold from the interior and exporting slaves to work on the plantations in North America and East Indies. Portuguese rule was harsh, unpopular, and economically debilitating for the local people."

You do support the constitution, Anon, don't you? You do support the rule of law, anon, don't you?

Amahal Lynch admits slaying ex-flame, her daughter and trying to make it look like murder-suicide
BY Wil Cruz, Edgar Sandoval and Bill Hutchinson

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

A Brooklyn man confessed Monday night to strangling an 8-year-old girl and her mother and then setting up the crime scene to look like a murder-suicide, cops said.

Amahal Lynch, 20, was hit with double-murder charges after autopsies revealed foul play and he admitted his role in the deaths of Shakeema Elliott, 29, and Kaliya Williams.

"He made it look like a suicide," said a police source, citing Lynch's videotaped confession that he strangled Elliott during an argument before killing her daughter.

Lynch, a city housing employee who once had a romantic relationship with Elliott, told prosecutors he put the bodies in the bathtub and then scattered pills on the bathroom floor.

"I just don't understand, why kill both? If you want to hurt Shakeema, why do the little girl, too? She was a baby," said Elliott's distraught cousin, Madeline Motley, 57, of North Babylon, L.I.

Their naked bodies were found Sunday morning in their Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, apartment by cops responding to a burglary complaint.

When officers arrived at the Batchelder St. address in the Nostrand Houses, they found the front door ajar, a police source said.

Detectives found no obvious signs of trauma on either victim, the source said.

But late yesterday the city medical examiner said Elliott and Kaliya died from "asphyxia due to neck compressions."

Even before autopsy results were announced, cops picked up Lynch for questioning.

Obviously, when it comes to public school education, you have no idea what you are claiming.

So in other words the most educated people in our nation are fucking it up...

Oh. Does that mean you believe educated people commit murder, engage in violence, create heavy social costs and pay no taxes?

You wrote:

I am so tired of these studeies which evaluate the quality of something based upon the amount of expenditures per pupil...This information means nothing when the best and brightest have our nation in a meltdown...

School effectiveness is measured in many ways. Dollars are part of the measurement. But the one that stings is the one comparing results on standardized tests.

Blacks and hispanics lag -- a lot, while asians and whites perform well. The standardized test results for NY City public schools show the gap begins in the earliest grades and widens through high school.

Inasmuch as the best public schools in NY City spend less per pupil than the worst schools, it is something other than spending that determines academic success.

You asked:

Again I pose a simple question what value does a good education have when those who are educated and run our systems have a our nation in a meltdowm in every index that matters...

The US has almost the highest per-capita GDP in the world. Therefore, the value of education in the US speaks for itself.

If you believe it is possible to avoid occasional economic setbacks, then you are among the uneducated.

anonymous wrote:

The single best move to improve US education would be to assist parents taking their kids elsewhere through issuing vouchers that approximate the per pupil cost of the district. The public school system here exists to serve the teacher's union, which funnels tax dolars back to the democratic party in the form of political donations. If the public schools had to compete for their student's business, they'd get better in a hurry.

It's not the promotion of hate you're concerned about, but the promotion of truth.

You're afraid of the anger that will erupt once these ethnic groups learn just how the land of the free and the home of the brave actually came to be.

The soil of this land is drenched with the blood of the indigenous people, thanks to western expansion, and a people's fervent, and selfish, belief in Manifest Destiny.

From sea to shining sea, whites counted the miles by the number of human carcasses they left behind (the only good Indian is a dead Indian), a genocidal ambition that would have made Hitler proud.

Mexicans, too, suffered at the hands of whites, when they stood in the way of God's plan for whites to dominate this land, and subdue the heathens (those who survived the relentless assaults), and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

But not to worry my benighted fellow commenter, Latinos don't wish to kill you, as whites killed them, they merely wish to breed you out existence, one Latino baby at a time.

"From sea to shining sea, whites counted the miles by the number of human carcasses they left behind (the only good Indian is a dead Indian), a genocidal ambition that would have made Hitler proud."

A bit overdone, don't you think?

"Mexicans, too, suffered at the hands of whites, when they stood in the way of God's plan for whites to dominate this land, and subdue the heathens (those who survived the relentless assaults), and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost."

Uh, Mexicans are catholic, and have been for 500 years. Blame the Spaniards for that, not Americans.

Zing said...

"Latinos don't wish to kill you, as whites killed them"

"Whites perpetrated genocide on Latino's? When was that? Don't you know that Latino's are mostly white?"

Spoken like a true a gringo to the culture:

"The great majority of Mexicans are classified as "mestizo" meaning literally mixed. The modern definition of mestizo means any degree of mixture between European and American Indian. This group includes about 62% of the population.

The next largest group are the people who are of pure, or nearly pure, American Indian origin. They make up 31% of the population.

7% of the population is said to be pure, or nearly pure caucasion. The caucasians are of Spanish(mainly), French, German, Irish, British, Polish, Russian, and other European extractions as well as Jewish ( mainly Ashkenazy and some Shephardic) and Lebanese.

It is interesting to note that there are several families of Japanese and Chinese origin which have been in Mexico for a century or more. There is a small Chinatown in Mexico City.

Also there is a black population, concentrated in the gulf state of Veracruz and the pacific states of Guerrero and Oaxaca, of about one million.

"Latinos don't wish to kill you, as whites killed them"

"Whites perpetrated genocide on Latino's? When was that?"

You made that up. Read again. You inferred what you wish to infer, not what was said.

"'From sea to shining sea, whites counted the miles by the number of human carcasses they left behind (the only good Indian is a dead Indian), a genocidal ambition that would have made Hitler proud.'"

"A bit overdone, don't you think?"

No, I don't think so. I tell you what, let's ask native Americans. If they agree with you that it's "overdone," I'll recant. Now, if they agree with me, well, you know....

"Uh, Mexicans are catholic, and have been for 500 years. Blame the Spaniards for that, not Americans."

You have this penchant of reading into my statements things I never said.

Did I say, "Americans," or did I say, "whites"?

Are you telling me that Spaniards aren't white, and that the "land" doesn't extend from North to South, and South to North seamlessly, with maybe a few mountains to break up the monotony?

As long as you parse by words, rather than actually reading my words--then, most of the time we'll just be correcting each other and not advancing the discussion.

Bottomline, whites brought a locust of death to this continent.

"Maybe you ought to read something beyond Howard Zinn before you try to lecture outside of your circle of fellow ignoramuses."
