Still the leader of the pack.

Et tu, Jeb? Man having the crazy outspoken Donald Trump in the republican field has really led some otherwise "normal" politicians to say some crazy things.

"Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush warned America is “creeping toward multiculturalism” during a campaign stop Tuesday, and said he worries about areas where the assimilation process is “retarded.”

In response to a young woman’s question about how to empower immigrants as Americans, Bush said at an event at a Cedar Falls, Iowa diner that multiculturalism should not be the goal.

“We should not have a multicultural society,” Bush said. “When you create pockets of isolation, and in some cases, the assimilation process has been retarded, it’s wrong. It limits people’s aspirations.”
He said Americans’ national identity is defined by the “set of values that people share,” rather than race. Bush also said learning English is an important part of the assimilation process." [Source]

But...but....isn't Jeb's wife Hispanic? It's going to be very cold in the Bush household tonight.
Jeb, you might want to get comfortable with the guest room, or worse, the sofa.

And, speaking of Donald Trump, the following article from the Huffington Post says that it might be time to stick a fork in him.

"There comes a moment in the political life of every big-personality, more-sizzle-than-steak candidate when they step across the line of legitimacy, or illegitimacy (depending on your perspective), even for media addicted to the high ratings these candidate-entertainers provide. That moment for Sarah Palin was her Katie Couric interview in 2008 -- the hockey-mom-has-no-clothes revealing from which she, and the McCain campaign, never recovered. In Donald Trump's candidacy -- which The Huffington Post is appropriately covering in our Entertainment section -- the equivalent moment might have just happened.

It was not the moment in the second Republican debate when Carly Fiorina carved him up like an Easter ham with her withering "I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said" zinger. That drew blood (as did the dramatic 12 seconds she remained silent after her response), but it wasn't fatal. No, historians looking back will peg the beginning of the end of the Trump show to his New Hampshire moment last week. Taking questions at a town hall event in Rochester, Trump listened as an audience member asserted that President Obama is a Muslim, "not even an American." Trump looked the man square in the eye, and declared: "No ... He's a decent family man [and] a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not [an Arab]."

Just kidding. That was actually what John McCain -- the one Trump said is "not a war hero" -- said to a woman at a campaign rally in 2008 who claimed that President Obama was an Arab. What Trump really said was, well, pretty much nothing: "We are going to be looking at a lot of different things and, you know, a lot of people are saying that."

There are few things as absolute in damning a candidate as a refusal to acknowledge simple reality -- especially a candidate who says he'll be tough with our enemies but refuses to even stand up to his own supporters. Refusing to acknowledge that Obama was born in this country is the equivalent of refusing to say that the earth is round. Even Trump's own supporters are embarrassed. Mark Cuban on Real Time with Bill Maher last Friday had to scramble for cover by categorically stating that the candidate he's supporting for president "is not gonna win. He's got no chance... none."

So when will the media be embarrassed enough to refuse to continue to give Trump the large megaphone they are giving him? Not because he's the front-runner -- come on, let's stop pretending that's the reason -- but because of the ratings he fuels as the entertainer he undoubtedly is.

As Sarah Palin demonstrated, even the ratings-crazed media are capable of falling out of love with a big-ratings stunt candidate. With Trump, you can already see it happening. The cracks are beginning to show. And when the media fall out of love they fall out of love very quickly." [Source]

Hmmm, methinks this is wishful thinking on Arianna Huffington's part. I just checked the latest Iowa polls, and Trump is still leading the field, comfortably.

So the crazy train just keeps on running, and everyone seems to be on board.

Obama is not a true Muslim. He's a fake Christian who identifies with Muslims. His true faith is a toxic blend of Jeremiah Wright’s quasi-Marxist black supremacism and the cultural Marxist ideology of those who put him in power.

But it doesn't really matter what he believes when how he acts makes it clear where his sympathies lie. Based on his actions, Obama is more likely to be Muslim than Christian.

Judge from the highly representative quotes below whether Obama is on the side of Christianity or the side of its ancient enemy Islam.

Regarding Islam:

• “The future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam.”

• “The sweetest sound I know is the Muslim call to prayer.”

• “We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over the centuries to shape the world — including in my own country.”

• “So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed”

• “We’ve seen those results in generations of Muslim immigrants – farmers and factory workers, helping to lay the railroads and build our cities, the Muslim innovators who helped build some of our highest skyscrapers and who helped unlock the secrets of our universe.”

As for Christianity:

• “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation.”

• “Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith?”

• Obama’s response when asked what his definition of sin is: “Being out of alignment with my values [i.e., ideology].”

• “Those opposed to abortion cannot simply invoke God’s will–they have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths.”

• “You got into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Trump's day of reckoning will come, but I doubt the Muslim-hater's question at that rally was officially his jump-the-shark moment. If Trump's own assertions that Mexican-Americans are a bunch of rapists didn't do it, why would his mealy-mouthed response to this Islamophobe bring Trump down? If naked bigotry is working for Trump, why would yet more bigotry be a problem?

What I imagine will derail the Trump train is if the GOP establishment manage to uncover some betrayal of Republican orthodoxy on Trump's part that makes the mob angry enough to abandon him. Or when somewhat less bigoted, and more pragmatic, Republican primary voters start to pay more attention as the primaries get closer.

Also, the most disturbing part of that exchange was not this troglodyte's calling Obama a secret jihadi plotting against America. That crap is annoying, but it's par for the course now with these jokers (polling says 43% of Republicans incorrectly believe Obama is a Muslim); and anyway, Obama only has 16 months or so to put up with that nonsense before he can chuck deuces to his haters and retire from politics.

The extra-nasty part was the guy demanding Trump do something to get rid of all the Muslims, and Trump responding, essentially, that he'll get right on it. That's ugly, real ugly.

This is the Republican civil war we've been waiting on for years. They made their own bed when they embraced the tea baggers. There will be another government shutdown over Planned Parenthood and Trump might continue to lead for a while as the baggers show their contempt for gop leaders who have made big promises over the last 30 years and not delivered. I would hate to be Mitch McConman or Boner. What thankless jobs.

This is complete bullshit. There were almost no Muslims in America prior to 1965.

Muslims did not build the railroads or our cities.

Muslim contributions to science, literature, or the arts have been minuscule throughout the history of Islam.

Not true.

Almost all of those innovations were appropriated from conquered cultures - Indian, Persian, and Greek.

The concept of "zero" came form Hindu India.

Today, the number of books published in the entire Muslim world is laughably small. Islam is intellectually insular and underachieving. Spain translated more books into Spanish last year than have been translated into Arabic in the last 900 years.

I see a different take on it. I don't think Trump ever had flattering coverage, except on Fox News. The 24/7 Fox News coverage of the illegal alien who killed a girl in San Francisco was an around the clock campaign commercial for Trump. Fox devoted itself to inciting racism against Mexicans. They also conveyed the subliminal message to not vote for Bush. Roger Ailes is racist enough to want Trump to win, but most of the conservative elites want someone who they think can win the general election and who they can control. Even the other Rupert Murdoch properties like the Wall Street Journal opposed Trump. He had a lot of coverage but it was almost all derogatory. Trump is all about racist Fox News talking points on steroids. He did the birth certificate crap long before he started his presidential run. The media is walking a balancing act where they want to get rid of Trump, but they don't want him to run as an independent candidate. Trump agreeing to not run a third party campaign if he loses the GOP nomination was a vote of confidence that they are on track. Trump has been and will still be the same. But now the media will step up their negative coverage of him. They'll do things like tell us he lost the debates, regardless of what happens. The elite don't all agree on which candidate they prefer, but they pretty much agree on which ones are acceptable.

Before Trump took off in the polls, you could turn on MSNBC and find out what Jeb and Hillary had for breakfast. Then it became all Trump. They wanted a Hillary vs Jeb race and then they would push Hillary over Jeb after they got it. The motive for the constant Trump coverage was probably ratings. The media covers things when they first happen and then they cover them up. I read about Al Gore getting more votes than Bush in the media consortium Florida recount in a Rupert Murdoch newspaper. They hid it in the middle of a long article in the middle of the paper, and they emphasized that the four county recount wouldn't have justified a state wide recount, but they did report that the the media consortium recount found that Gore had more statewide votes than Bush under any set of recount rules established anywhere. Media outlets are afraid they'll look stupid if all of the competition reports something and they don't. No media outlet wanted to be the only one not tell you about Trump.

It wasn't meant to be. That was just Fox doing their usual race-baiting, heedless of the potential for disaster, but then -- Oops! -- here comes Trump, capitalizing on all the hate they fueled. It wasn't supposed to work out that way. Now they're backpedaling like mad, trying to find some way to kneecap this malevolent orange gremlin, because he's bad for their party's long-term health.

"Trump agreeing to not run a third party campaign if he loses the GOP nomination was a vote of confidence that they are on track. Trump has been and will still be the same."

No, that was just an indication that Trump isn't completely stupid, and saying he'll never run an independent campaign helps him at the moment and costs him nothing. If he loses the Republican nomination, how much do you think that pledge will be worth? It will immediately evaporate like a fart in the wind. Trump will explain why he was "forced" to change his mind and run as an independent because of [insert conservative bugaboo here: the liberal media, jihadis, gun control, Mexican banditos, Beyonce ...].

Er, no. Not right (although maybe you were making a joke?)

The Bush family are not Russian Jews that came here from a shtetl, smelling of cabbage. They're as White-Anglo-Saxon-Protestant as it is possible to get. Their surname name is English, and their family goes back to the founding of the country.

Jeb is the great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Timothy Bush Sr, a militia captain in the American Revolution. The Bushes are about as close to old-money aristocrats as it is possible to get, in American terms.

Imagine the Kennedys, only conservative, with riches going back more generations, and way snootier. This is what made Dubya's rootin-tootin cowboy act so hilarious.

Field, I just saw your House Negro of the Day.

Now, I'm not saying that guy is not a gigantic douchebag for greedily hiking the price on that drug. He clearly is one.

But the opportunity for him to behave like in this manner is a result of a market failure, one of the many instances in which capitalism breaks down. (Take note, libertarian zealots who pretend capitalism is perfect and everything would be fine if the government would only "get out of the way".)

This is an drug with a very small demand, which means no drug companies really want to make it, though it is still very much needed. The government should really intercede here and fund drugs like this one to be made at a reasonable price. Otherwise, there is always a danger of gouging like the hedge funder is engaging in, or else that the drug will just go off the market.

An explanation of the problem is here:

Falsani: What is sin?

OBAMA:
Being out of alignment with my values.

Falsani: What happens if you have sin in your life?

OBAMA:
I think it’s the same thing as the question about heaven. In the same way that if I’m true to myself and my faith that that is its own reward, when I’m not true to it, it’s its own punishment."

Progressives like Obama are direct ideological descendants of the Puritans. Nathaniel Hawthorne described his 17th century forebears as ‘the most intolerant brood that ever lived.” He never met today's Social Justice Warriors. Modern progressivism is Christianity 3.0, or Christianity without God.

Jack Cashill recently wrote a book, “Scarlet Letters: The Ever-Increasing Intolerance of the Cult of Liberalism Exposed,” in which he identified the seven intolerable sins against the progressive “neo-Puritan” worldview: racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and climate-change denialism."

"hatred is the one sin that underlies the other seven: racists hate black people, sexists hate women, homophobes hate homosexuals, and so on. But if you think the neo-Puritans themselves are all about love, you would be wrong.

Now the neo-Puritan elect, and this is the odd thing about them … they have less interest in celebrating their own values than they do in condemning those people who resist the celebration," Cashill said. "They take joy in that. For them it's almost as good as eating organic or occupying something."

Sounds like Purple Cow, doesn't it?

“If you disagree with one, you’re not just wrong, you’re not just unenlightened – you’re immoral, you’re sinful, and you’re deserving of punishment in the here and now,” he said. “Not in the afterlife – there is none of that – in the here and now.”

Yep.

Take the case of Aaron and Melissa Klein, the Christian bakers in Oregon who declined to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. Rather than simply finding another baker willing to bake them a cake, the lesbian couple filed a complaint, and an Oregon commissioner eventually ordered the Kleins to pay the couple $135,000 for emotional damages. He even slapped a gag order on them. But that was after intense public pressure from "gay marriage" supporters forced the Kleins to close their bakery.

The Kleins even tried to set up a GoFundMe page to help pay their fine, but the website shut it down, saying it would no longer allow campaigns in defense of "discriminatory acts."

Aaron Klein drives a garbage truck now that the neo-Puritans have destroyed his bakery. This is how fascist progressives roll.

"It's just not enough to share your offense," he said. "You've got to enlist the state in your cause. This is where it begins to really approach the Puritan model, but the Puritans were a picture of mercy and rationality compared to what's going on right now."

The federal government's repsonse was actually quite exemplary. (Yeah, I guess if the President at the time is a moron)

20 years of abuse at the Democrat slush fund Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac caused that. (And Bush did nothing to stop it? So not only are Republican Presidents powerless to stop attacks until after 8 months they can't avoid economic catastrophies, why should we ever elect another Republican?)

All intelligence operations agreed there could be no guarantee that Iraq did not have banned weapons, because Saddam refused to live up to the requirements of the Gulf War cease fire.(So that means he had to invade, find no WMD's and let Cheney have his little wars that would "pay for themselves". Nice. So Republican Presidents start wars because someone "might" have WMD's. Oh yeah, let's elect more Republicans)

Secondly, I don't make rules up as I go along, I make adjustments to the rules I live by as I gain age, experience and (hopefully) wisdom. I live by my own code, because as Omar Little said, "A man's gotta have a code".

"And if there aren't any rules, you can rationalize anything."

You can rationalise anything regardless of the existence of rules, laws, codes or gods. The Nazis thought they were doing God's work in killing Jews, Gays, Gypsies and Socialists. As do Al Qa'eda and Dash today.

Nonsense.

Everyone HAS their own moral code, you cannot enforce morals or ethics on someone who does not want to accept them. Laws are their to stop people murdering and stealing (and to protect the interests of the bourgeoisie, of course,) but that is not the same as imposing moralist views on them.

They should not be in business if they refuse to serve the public. I guess it's also cool to bring back the old "we don't serve Irish" signs? Gotta love the intolerant world conservatives want us to live in. If you offer your services to the public you cannot discriminate asshole.

---
Of course the left will defend mooslum owned businesses when they refuse to serve the public.

No need to bring back the left are hypocrites signs, since they already wear them so proudly around they necks everyday. Gotta love the tolerant world libs want us to live in. A world in which they get to determine what kind of intolerance and discrimination is allowed.

Ahmad the Gentle Clock-Builder's sister got suspended for an alleged bomb threat; Daily Beast reporter not only fails to follow up on this major story thread, but fails to show any interest whatsover.

Ahmad's sister Eyman says this to Narrative-Weaver Randy Pats, who fails to so much as raise an eyebrow:

After the MSNBC segment, eyman and I sit down in the hallway where she says the same thing happened to her as Ahmed.

"I got suspended from school for three days from this stupid same district, from this girl saying I wanted to blow up the school, something I had nothing to do with."
...
"I got suspended and I didn’t do anything about it and so when I heard about Ahmed, I was so mad because it happened to me and I didn’t get to stand up, so I'm making sure he's standing up because it's not right. So I'm not jealous, I'm kinda like--it's like he’s standing for me."

Hmmm...sounds maybe like a motive for bringing something that looks like a bomb to school. Nah.....this doesn't fit the Narrative -- or rather, it if he ignores this, he can still write her piece to seemingly confirm the Narrative -- so Randy the Narrative-Weaver just dutifully jots this down without making any connections whatsoever, or asking any further questions about it.

@ Ace Freely

And this proves that the kid with the clock was a faker?

Or does it prove that the school administrators are serially offending paranoid Islamophobes?

I'm gonna go with the second one.

That's because you a mindless gelding.

So what about that Texas football coach who sent his players to tackle the ref because (allegedly) the ref made some racist remarks?

Sounds like an object lesson in how not to deal with racism.

Give it up, Kinky. There are no lefties defending Muslims' "right" to engage in discriminatory businesses (although you can't be surprised that some Muslims are now asserting such nonsense rights, since Christians have claimed them).

Muslims don't get to invoke that "conscience clause" bullshit any more than Christians do. The 1st Amendment right to freedom of religion doesn't grant anyone the right to impose their faith on people who don't share it.

"Hitler is a socialist."

If you're forced to resort to that extra-lame topic again, your bucket of right-wing talking points really must be empty.

But don't worry. The bullshit machine is always operating, so your supply will soon be restored.

Asking a delivery driver to deliver what the company sells is considered religious discrimination for some religions.

I wonder what happens when Muslims refuse to sell birth control.

Sounds like TNB trying to get out of trouble by falsely claiming they heard a racial slur.

"We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions."

--Adolf Hitler, Quoted in John Toland, "Adolf Hitler", p224.

Done dead busted.

Nah, Kinky will just give us strawman after strawman of things that never happened and presuppose what "teh left" will do. That's what stoooopid racists do.

Anonymous @ 10:48 PM (and 11:15 PM) The constant SF killing Fox coverage came after Trump made his statements about Mexicans and before the Megan Kelly flap. As far as my prediction that the media will step up efforts to get rid of Trump, it doesn't matter if Trumps plans to break his agreement to not run as an Independent or not. What matters is how much faith others have that he will keep his word. The media wants to see him lose the GOP race and not run as an Independent. I don't think they feel sure that he won't run as an Independent enough to treat him like they did Howard Dean. With Dean they just kept showing the "scream" over and over with the crowd noise edited out. They will have to be more subtle with Trump. Anyway, where my take on it differs from Field's, is that I think Trump won't decline in the GOP primary race polls because of the stupid things he says. His decline will come from media manipulation. We probably won't ever know for sure. You think Fox News' motives were different than what I thought and if Fox News did have complete control over voters, we would have had a president Rudy Giuliani. When he ran for president, Fox did their best to get him nominated, but they failed.

I like that "an invisible sky daddy"!

and why not? Just because it's invisible doesn't mean it's not there...

It just means you can't 'see' it, but you can feel it! x*D
