Hands up in Oregon?

  I was just kind of wondering if the folks who support those terrorist in Oregon see the irony of them saying that Robert LaVoy Finicum was murdered by authorities when they were the very same ones proclaiming that  Michael Brown deserved what he got in Ferguson, Missouri.

They are claiming that he was "murdered" with his hands up. (Sounds familiar?) Now Mr. Finicum is being viewed as a martyr in some circles. Which, if you think about it, is probably what he wanted in the first place.

Finally, this debate between trump and FOX VEWS leaves me in somewhat of a quandary. I honestly do not know whose side to take. It's kind of like choosing between HIV/AIDS and Ebola. None of the choices are particularly good.

All I can say is that they deserve each other (Trump was on FOX tonight), and this all smells like a big publicity stunt for both network and charlatan.

Are we really supposed to believe that trump hates Megyn Kelley? I don't think so. He really didn't seem like it here.  But this is the game they are both playing on the American people to stay in the news and keep us all talking about both the network and the candidate. Don't be surprised if trump has a huge announcement tomorrow to announce that he will be debating after all.

"Why should the networks continue to get rich on the debates?...Why do I have to make Fox rich?”
 
Donald, you didn't make them rich; your supporters did. And the networks get rich on the debates because the American people want to know where the man who could be their next president stands on the issues.

Wait....did I say issues? Donald, maybe you should skip the debate.

"Fitting the description" at Yale.

If you are a young Negro in America I can't imagine a better place for you to be than in a library at an Ivy League school.

If you are the parent of such a young Negro it must make you proud to have a child in such a position, and you must sleep pretty well at night knowing that your child will be safe and protected in the friendly confines of a very white, very elite, academic environment.

So imagine how shocked Charles Blow was to hear that his child almost got the Trayvon Martin treatment while walking out of the library on Yale's campus.

"As a noted memoirist and New York Times columnist who writes often about race, Charles Blow has spoken about the police killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, deaths that sparked a national debate over how police treat African-American men.

On Monday, Blow wrote about another young black man's encounter with police -- his son, who was allegedly held at gunpoint on the Yale University campus where he's a student.

 

Blow took to Twitter on Sunday, writing that he was "fuming" after his son called to tell him what happened Saturday -- that he was walking out of the library when university police "accosted" him and drew their weapons. Blow tweeted that his son was detained because he "fit the description" of a suspect.

 

Blow's son was released, and Yale has said that the real suspect was found and arrested later." [Source]

 

I feel your pain Mr. Blow. This is a little too close to home for you. Now when you write all those essays for the New York Times about racism in America you can truly write them from them from the heart. 

 

"Saturday evening, I got a call that no parent wants to get. It was my son calling from college — he’s a third-year student at Yale. He had been accosted by a campus police officer, at gunpoint!

This is how my son remembers it:

 

He left for the library around 5:45 p.m. to check the status of a book he had requested. The book hadn’t arrived yet, but since he was there he put in a request for some multimedia equipment for a project he was working on.

 

Then he left to walk back to his dorm room. He says he saw an officer “jogging” toward the entrance of another building across the grounds from the building he’d just left.

Then this:

 

“I did not pay him any mind, and continued to walk back towards my room. I looked behind me, and noticed that the police officer was following me. He spoke into his shoulder-mounted radio and said, ‘I got him.’

 

“I faced forward again, presuming that the officer was not talking to me. I then heard him say, ‘Hey, turn around!’ — which I did.

“The officer raised his gun at me, and told me to get on the ground.

 

“At this point, I stopped looking directly at the officer, and looked down towards the pavement. I dropped to my knees first, with my hands raised then laid down on my stomach.

 

“The officer asked me what my name was. I gave him my name.

 

“The officer asked me what school I went to. I told him Yale University.

“At this point, the officer told me to get up.”

 

The officer gave his name, then asked my son to “give him a call the next day.”

My son continued:

 

“I got up slowly, and continued to walk back to my room. I was scared. My legs were shaking slightly. After a few more paces, the officer said, ‘Hey, my  man. Can you step off to the side?’ I did.”

 

The officer asked him to turn around so he could see the back of his jacket. He asked his name again, then, finally, asked to see my son’s ID. My son produced his school ID from his wallet.

 

The officer asked more questions, and my son answered. All the while the officer was relaying this information to someone over his radio.

 

My son heard someone on the radio say back to the officer “something to the effect of: ‘Keep him there until we get this sorted out.’ ” The officer told my son that an incident report would be filed, and then he walked away."

 

Mr. Blow's son will be fine. He has a father who has a national platform to speak out against what happened to him. 

 

Think of the countless other black men who have been subjected to similar indignities because they "fit a description". 

 

Fortunately for young Mr. Blow he will not end up like this guy, or this one, but it's not because he doesn't "fit the description."   

 

 

Ferguson verdict in black and white.

The right wing "race baiters" are still celebrating the decision not to prosecute Darren Wilson. I suppose that this should have been expected given the fact that we are talking about a white police officer killing an unarmed black teen.


This is, after all, a black vs. white issue now. It shouldn't be this way. It should be a right versus wrong issue. But sadly, this is where we are in America. How you feel about the killing of Michael Brown depends largely on the color of your skin.


Wingnuts like Ben Carson blame the president for this. “I actually believe that things were better before this president was elected. And I think that things have gotten worse because of his unusual emphasis on race.” Duh! But I submit to you, my Seventh Day Adventist friend, that race relations got worse because Barack Obama was elected president. Only someone blinded by their ideological ignorance and cluelessness could not see this.


But back to Darren Wilson. He is now at the start of his rehabilitation tour and ABC won the lottery to get the first interview. (A FOX NEWS gig is sure to follow.)


In that interview he said some interesting things: Michael Brown was "aggressive and combative" and he was worried that he would "kill" him. He also said that he has a "clean conscience" because he did his job right.


In Darren Wilson's mind, Michael Brown had to be killed, because he was  "aggressive" and he (Wilson) was looking into the face of a "demon". 


The grand jury believed Darren Wilson, and not the witnesses who gave conflicting accounts. It was truly a jury of his peers. 


"What did happen, according to Wilson: Brown stopped running at a light pole and confronted Wilson. The cop said he yelled at the youth to get on the ground. “When he looked at me, he made like a grunting, like aggravated sound and he starts, he turns and he’s coming back towards me,” Wilson recalled. “His first step is coming towards me, he kind of does like a stutter step to start running. When he does that, his left hand goes in a fist and goes to his side, his right one goes under his shirt in his waistband and he starts running at me.”
Wilson opened fire. He missed a few times. But he also hit Brown, who “flinched.” What Wilson remembered as “tunnel vision” came over him, homing in on Brown’s right hand in his waistband. “I’m just focusing on that hand when I was shooting.” But the shots, Wilson said, didn’t deter Brown, who continued to charge toward him.


“He was almost bulking up to run through the shots, like it was making him mad that I’m shooting him,” Wilson said. “And the face that he had was looking straight through me, like I wasn’t even there, I wasn’t even anything in his way.”


Wilson took aim at Brown’s head for the shot that would kill the unarmed teen. “When he fell, he fell on his face,” Wilson recalled. “I remember his feet coming up … and then they rested.”


Then came the end.


“When it went into him,” Wilson said, “the demeanor on his face went blank, the aggression was gone, it was gone, I mean I knew he stopped, the threat was stopped.”' [Source]


Yes, the "threat was stopped". But did it take killing an unarmed teen to stop it?


Sadly, I am starting to see a pattern here.

Some Love for the GOP, and 15 more seconds of Darren Wilson.

I would like to join Juan Williams in congratulating some newly elected African Americans who happen to be members of the grand old party.




The election of these individuals was historic in significance and should not be ignored.

I, too, like Mr. Williams,  hope that these Negroes will not be just "window dressing" and tokens who lend cover for the racists in their party.

Tim Scott has been a senator for a while, and he does not have the greatest track record, but I will give Mia Love and Will Hurd a chance to prove my suspicions wrong.

Hopefully, two years from now, I will be writing about all the positive aspects of their ascendancy to congress, and not how, like Clarence Thomas and those of his ilk, they are doing more to hurt people of color than to help them.

 

"Scott is positioned to become Congress’s leading advocate for reform of a broken public education system that is failing too many children. With nearly half of black students dropping out of high school, there is a desperate need for new ideas in the Senate on education.

Similarly, Love, as mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, focused on bringing more jobs to town. With black unemployment nationally over 11 percent, Love’s voice and her ideas for economic development create new opportunities for black Democrats to do business with Republicans.

Hurd’s CIA experience as an undercover officer in the Middle East brings a black man’s perspective to debates on dealing with Muslim extremists.


To be clear, it is up to Scott, Love and Hurd to be more than window dressing for a GOP with a major problem as a party defined by the anger of older, white, conservative men.
But they’ve beaten the odds so far. I’m rooting for them to do it again."

Nothing wrong with "rooting for them", Juan. Just don't be too disappointed if they drop the ball.


Remember, there are some other folks "rooting for them" as well.




Finally, the state of Missouri has declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the grand jury verdict in Ferguson.

Michael Brown's family attorney says that the governor of that state is "preparing for war" and he is concerned that the governor's actions will incite what is sure to be an already angry crowd if the grand jury does not indict Officer Darren Wilson.

My money says there will be no indictment, but we will see.

And speaking of Officer Wilson, forget the Michael Brown incident for a minute, apparently this guy is just  not a very good police officer.

"The Ferguson, Missouri officer who killed an unarmed 18-year-old is featured in an online video taken by a man who said Darren Wilson unlawfully arrested him and violated his rights.


The 15-second video shows an officer alleged to be Wilson in uniform in the middle of a conversation with resident Mike Arman, who made the brief recording.


Resident Mike The video begins with Arman asking the officer his name, and Wilson replies, "If you wanna take a picture of me one more time, I'm going to lock your a-- up."
Arman replies he is not taking a picture but recording the incident, then Wilson walks several feet toward him.


Arman asks Wilson if he has the right to record the incident and Wilson replies "no" and says "come on" as the video comes to a shaky end.


The video shows only a small glimpse of the encounter but Arman writes in the description of the video posted Friday that Wilson violated his First Amendment rights, arrested him unlawfully and lied on the police report." [Source]




Mr. Arman, at least you are alive to tell your story. Consider yourself lucky.

No love in the "Heartland".

I  I don't want to upset you Negroes more than you already are, but there is yet another troubling story of color aroused police officers acting out their irrational fears of the black male here in America.


This one comes to us from Hammond, Indiana.

"A federal lawsuit accuses Hammond police of "malice" and "reckless indifference" when they smashed a car window and used a Taser on a passenger during a traffic stop last month.

But Hammond police, in a two-page rebuttal, said they resorted to force only after the passenger repeatedly refused to leave the car and kept reaching toward the back seat, prompting fears he may have had a weapon.

Neither the police statement nor the lawsuit say a gun was found in the car.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 when Lisa Mahone was pulled over as she drove with a friend, Jamal Jones, and her two children, 7 and 14, according to the lawsuit filed Monday in Indiana.

The officer told Mahone, 47, she was stopped for not wearing her seatbelt and asked for her driver's license. The officer also asked to see Jones' identification, according to both police and the lawsuit.

Mahone produced her license, but Jones told the officer he had been ticketed for not paying his insurance and did not have his license, the lawsuit states. 

Jones claims the officer drew his gun "for no reason" after Jones retrieved the ticket from his backpack and "offered the ticket to the officer."

But police say Jones refused to hand over the ticket. "(Jones) refused to lower the window more than a small amount, then told the officer that 'he was not going to do (the officer’s) job' and for him to get a piece of paper," police said in their statement. "The first officer then called for back-up after asking (Jones) several more times to provide his name."

As the back-up officer arrived, "the first officer saw the passenger inside the vehicle drop his left hand behind the center console. . .Fearing for officer safety, the first officer ordered the passenger to show his hands and then repeatedly asked him to exit the vehicle," according to the statement.

The lawsuit says Jones refused to leave the car "because he feared the officers would harm him."

Around this time, Mahone shifted the car into gear and began moving until officers warned her that a "stop strip" had been placed in front of her car and would puncture her tires.

Mahone told the officers they were on the way to Stroger Hospital in Chicago to visit her sick mother.  In a video recorded by Mahone's 14-year-old son, she can be heard calling the Hammond police department to explain the situation.

"Just give me a ticket for no seatbelt so I can go to the hospital because the doctor called me to tell me to come in because my mom is about to pass away," Mahone said as officers continued to ask Jones to get out of the car, according to the video.

One officer tells Jones if he does not step out of the car, they will "have to open the door for [him]." Jones nods and, after a few moments, one officer breaks the window with a club and uses a Taser on Jones, the video shows.' [More]

Someone just sent me a book that should be required reading for all of you Negroes here in America. It was written by an attorney from Georgia, and it is kind of a how to guide on navigating the criminal justice system and knowing "the rules".

The police in this particular incident say that the Negro didn't follow "the rules", but given their track record of late, can we really believe them?


"Police told Jones they had drawn their guns because they did not know who he was or what he would do.

'That’s why I have my windows up,' Jones told officers. 'I’m not no harm to you right now. I got my kids in the car and you’re drawing your weapon.'

Jones told WFLD that he was afraid to leave his frightened children in the car, and he was also afraid to get out because officers were acting so aggressively toward him.

He tried to give the ticket to police, but they refused to take them."


Honestly, the more I read this story is the more familiar it looks.

Finally, let's go out to the ball park, where those fun loving, apple pie eating Cardinal fans from Middle America, are letting their feelings known about protesters supporting that young dead Negro interrupting their pursuit of happiness.

"Ferguson protestors emerged at Busch Stadium last night after game three of the NLDS playoff game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers; and wow, did things get ugly real fast.

Argus Streaming News, which did an excellent job of posting real-time information during the August clashes with Ferguson police, posted a 25-minute video showing a small group of demonstrators chanting outside the ballpark Monday evening, with another group of white Cards fans chanting right back at them.


At the top of the video, an older gentleman looks directly at the camera and shouts about how if these (all-black) protestors had been working (at night?) “we wouldn’t have this problem!”


The crowd soon begins chanting “Let’s go Cardinals!” to drown out the protestors’ chant about “shutting the shit down” if they aren’t given justice for slain 18-year-old Michael Brown. That Cards chant quickly changed into “Let’s go Darren!” referring to Officer Darren Wilson, the Ferguson cop who killed the young man.


Things continue to get uglier as the video progresses.


One Cardinals fan calls a protestor a “crackhead,” while another fan presumably made eye contact with one protestor and began questioning his “tough guy” status, telling the unseen protestor that “if you ever saw me in the street, you’d look at the ground, that’s what you’d do.”


While one protestor waves an upside-down American flag (symbolic of “country in distress”), a blonde lady enters, telling the crowd: “We’re the ones who fuckin’ gave all y’all the freedoms that you have!” Another lady takes it upon herself to question the cameraman’s background, suggesting she doesn’t believe he’s an ex-Marine, while asking incoherent questions about his rank. All fun times.


Peppered throughout the rest of the video are “USA! USA!” chants from the Cards fans, along with one woman getting real clever and shouting at the protestors: “Africa! Africa!” There were also more calls for the protestors to get jobs, pick up their pants, and remove their caps. [Source]

When a house Negro wears blue.

When I write about house Negroes and field Negroes in America I hope that folks understand what this means: Being black does not automatically get you a black pass. "All my skin folks ain't my kin folks as the old saying goes".


Some white Americans (ahem ahem, conservatives, ahem) are using the shooting of a black 14 year old near New Orleans by a black police officer as a "Gotcha moment!".


"See, they shoot each other too, what's the big deal if a white police officer shoots one of them under questionable circumstances?"


The thing is, though, we expect this type of behavior from certain types of Negroes. Especially those who are corrupted by the wrong elements in certain police departments across the country.


I don't want to jump to conclusions about this particular story, because, unlike Ferguson, it is not as clear what exactly happened. There are allegations that the young man who lost his life had a weapon, and that the shooting was justifiable. We will see.


If it was not a justifiable killing then that officer who pulled the trigger deserves just as much shade tossed his way as Darren Wilson.


The color of his skin or the badge he is wearing does not give him the right to unjustifiably take the life of another human being.


If it turns out to be a justifiable shoot I will take it all back.


At least as it relates to this particular officer. Not the other house Negroes running around with a gun and a badge.

Not all eyewitnesses are the same.

I swear I am not making this up. A pundit on CNN was explaining this evening that now that two white witnesses have come forward to say that they saw Michael Brown with his hands raised before he was shot; it could be problematic for Officer Wilson.


The host, Wolf Blitzer, nodded his head in agreement. They went on to admit (and I am paraphrasing here) that these witnesses lend credibility to the other eyewitness accounts because they did not have a dog in the fight.  


Of course we all know the real reason that these two construction workers will be found more credible than the residence of Ferguson. If you guessed the color of their skin please move to the head of the class.


All those Negroes just cannot be trusted with their version of the story. They are too biased, and they are.....well.....Negroes.


"Two men, shocked at what they saw, describe an unarmed teenager with his hands up in the air as he's gunned down by a police officer.

They were contractors doing construction work in Ferguson, Missouri, on the day Michael Brown was killed.

And the men, who asked not to be identified after CNN contacted them, said they were about 50 feet away from Officer Darren Wilson when he opened fire.

An exclusive cell phone video captures their reactions during the moments just after the shooting.

 

"He had his f**n hands up, one of the men says in the video.

The man told CNN he heard one gunshot, then another shot about 30 seconds later." [Source]

Thankfully the men have now come forward.


Thank you "Mr. Charlie", for helping to make the wheels of justice turn faster.


Those Negroes in Ferguson could not have done it without you. 

“I wish someone would pull a Ferguson on them and take them out."

A white colleague of mine (in a self described of moment of sincerity) wanted to know why most African Americans are so sure that the killing of Michael Brown by the police officer in Ferguson, Missouri was not justified.




"Why are most of them jumping to conclusions before all the facts come out?"




Well maybe it's because over the past few years we have seen that a young black man can be killed by someone in a position of authority while just shopping at Walmart; while going to the corner store to get a pack of skittles; while allegedly jaywalking; or while handcuffed in the backseat of a police cruiser.




But, more importantly, because of these incidents we are starting to see the mindset of those in the majority population who happen to be in law enforcement.




Take for instance this latest case in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.




"A police officer in Baton Rouge resigned Thursday after a local news channel revealed that he sent text messages in which he wished that fellow officers “would pull a Ferguson” on a “bunch of monkeys,” The Advocate reports.


Fifteen-year-veteran Michael Elsbury resigned on Thursday after text messages he sent to a female friend were brought to the attention of his superiors. In one message, Officer Elsbury — whose patrol included the area around the historically black Southern University — wrote that blacks are “nothing but a bunch of monkeys,” and that the “only reason they have this job is the nigger, nigger in them.” It is unclear what “job” he is referring to.


In another text, he wrote that “I wish someone would pull a Ferguson on them and take them out. I hate looking at those African monkeys at work…I enjoy arresting those thugs with their saggy pants.” [Source]




Just wow!




I am sure we will hear his side of the story soon on FOX VIEWS. The poor guy is probably just misunderstood. (Sarcasm off)


Still, you have to wonder how many guys who think just like this belong to police departments all over America. This particular racist was on the force for 15 years.


I have two very good friends who are major prosecutors in the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's office. (I see you Tony and Barry) I will be calling them to see if their office will be reviewing every arrest that this officer ever made. If they don't, it will be disgraceful, and will be just as outrageous as the actions of this racist ignoramus who was masquerading as a police officer.




"Police Chief Carl Dabadie said that “it was gut-wrenching to believe that someone had that much hate in them, especially a police officer who is out there enforcing the law every day. It made me sick to my stomach.” Chief Dabadie said that he understands how an incident like this could “cast a bad light” on the entire department, but hopes the community can appreciate the alacrity with which the incident was handled.


“I believe this is an isolated incident that occurred between the officer and this girl,” he said. “I do not want this to become a direct reflection on our officers. I have 650 officers, and 649 of them work their butts off every day for the city of Baton Rouge.”


It is a "reflection" of your officers, Chief. And we all know that there are plenty more where he came from.

Suitgate, and Bill O'Reilly's Negro jones keeps getting stronger.

You know we have some issues as a country when we obsess over a president's suit and not what he is actually talking about at a press conference.


For the record, I moved past clothes pony to clothes horse status a long time ago. I am very much in touch with my sartorial side. Therefore I believe that I am more than qualified to comment on the president's suit.


In my not so humble opinion, the color is fine. The suit  itself could use a little more tailoring (he is a slender man), but he is the president, not a GQ model.


Had he worn that suit at a press conference next week sometime it might have been a different story, but Labor Day has not yet arrived, so it's all good. The tie, on the other hand, well...


But look at me; I am embarrassed to say that I am doing the exact same thing that I accused a fickle American public of doing.


But hey, I am not a United States Congressman.

"The overload of coverage over Barack Obama‘s tan suit has led to some unexpected consequences: Rep. Peter King (R-NY), called into The Steve Malzberg Show to rage about how “trivial” the summer suit was.


Summer suits, according to Rep. King, are not appropriate garb for talking about terrorism or ISIS, and especially when the President says he doesn’t have a strategy to deal with the resurgence of terrorism.


“For him to walk out — I’m not trying to be trivial here — in a light suit, light tan suit, saying that first he wants to talk about what most Americans care about the revision of second quarter numbers on the economy,” he seethed.


“This is a week after Jim Foley was beheaded and he’s trying to act like real Americans care about the economy, not about ISIS and not about terrorism. And then he goes on to say he has no strategy.”


Yes, how dare he talk about the economy and not some dude with a James Bond accent cutting off Jim Foley's head?


Well, with all due respect to the family of Jim Foley, maybe because most Americans care more about what is going on in their homes and putting food on their table than the horrific acts of terrorists on the other side of the world.


And how dare he talk about ISIS in a tan suit? *shaking head*


Honestly, the last person I would ever listen to when it comes to fashion is an old white republican.


I am pretty sure Barack Obama feels the same way.


Besides, Mr. King and others in his gang worshiped a man who always wore lighter colored suits. Heck, he even wore one to meet the pope.


Speaking of old white men, over at FOX VIEWS Bill O'Reilly's Negro obsession continues.


"In his latest print column, Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly says Michael Brown‘s affinity for rap music may have led him astray and influenced him to have a negative attitude toward police.


Brown is the black 18-year-old who was unarmed in Ferguson, Mo., when he was shot dead by a white police officer in early August. Brown was reportedly a fan of rap music and wrote some of his own rap lyrics.


“Michael Brown rapped about violence, smoking weed, making big money, and having sex with ‘hos,’” O’Reilly wrote. “[T]hat does not automatically mean he was a thug. Far worse, it shows that he was not all that different from so many other young men who are stewing in a pernicious culture that glorifies violence and misogyny.”


O’Reilly says in the op-ed that for “suburban” kids, rap music is usually a mere distraction. “But to young men with no fathers, no guidance, no structure, and very little hope, the thug life depicted in the music is a siren song.”The column then turns to criticism of President Barack Obama and the first lady for promoting what O’Reilly sees as similar entertainment:

So the President and First Lady honor a dubious “poet,” [Common] invite a foul-mouth rapper [Big Sean] to “sing” as part of an Easter celebration, and regularly pal around with Beyoncé and Jay-Z. That’s when Beyoncé isn’t slithering salaciously and Jay-Z isn’t talkin’ ’bout some bitches. The First Family sets a stellar example for young blacks in many ways, but they seem to have a blind spot when it comes to popular culture.

“Rap music didn’t kill him, a policeman’s bullets did,” O’Reilly concludes. “But who knows whether his attitude towards cops, shaped by violent music, played some role in any possible confrontation?”


So not only does the president wear the wrong color suit, he causes the killing of a Missouri teen at the hands of a policeman as well.


I think I would rather follow the example of a solid family man and father over some dirt bag who has all kinds of issues with his own family life, and who is a serial sexual predator in his work place.


But hey, that's just me.















 

Ben Stein's brain takes the day off.

When I first heard the comments attributed to Ben Stein (Bueller?... Bueller?... Bueller? ), I must admit that I thought that it was satire. But sadly for my conservative friends, it would appear that he was serious.


"It’s been almost three weeks since unarmed teenager Michael Brown was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri and we are just now finding out what the teacher from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has to say about the whole thing. According to actor turned conservative commentator Ben Stein, Brown was armed, with his “incredibly strong, scary self.”


“The idea of calling this poor, young man unarmed when he was 6’4″, 300 pounds, full of muscles and was apparently, according to what I read in The New York Times, on marijuana — to call him unarmed is like calling Sonny Liston unarmed, or Cassius Clay unarmed,” Stein told NewsMax’s Steve Malzberg on Wednesday. “He wasn’t unarmed. He was armed with his incredibly strong, scary self.”


If by “armed” Stein means Brown had arms, like Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali and nearly every other human, then that is one thing. But in this context, “armed” usually means holding a firearm, something that could definitely be said of Officer Wilson, but not of Brown.


Moments later, Stein said that we as a country have moved from “lynching” of African-Americans to similar “lynchings” of police, as evidenced by Attorney General Eric Holder weighing in on the case. And, he also seems to think that George Zimmerman was a “policeman.”" [Source]

And to think that folks on the right get mad when they are painted as clueless racists. Well they are painted that way because of the musings of great conservative thinkers like Ben Stein.


Speaking of clueless racists, I love the Charles Blow takedown of FOX VIEWS personality, Bill O'Reilly.


Bill does not seem to think that there is such a thing as "white privilege."


"Blow begins by quoting O’Reilly:

“Last night on ‘The Factor,’ Megyn Kelly and I debated the concept of white privilege whereby some believe that if you are Caucasian you have inherent advantages in America. ‘Talking Points’ does not, does not believe in white privilege. However, there is no question that African-Americans have a much harder time succeeding in our society than whites do.”

“It is difficult to believe that those three sentences came in that order from the same mouth,” Blow writes. Once you admit that it’s “harder for blacks to succeed,” he argues, then the converse for whites must be “a form of privilege.” He adds, “When one has the luxury of not being forced to compensate for societal oppression based on basic identity, one is in fact privileged in that society.”

After quoting O’Reilly’s most recent use of the term “race hustlers” to describe those who “blame white privilege” for any problems that African-Americans face, Blow concludes:

No, Mr. O’Reilly, it is statements like this one that make you the race hustler. The underlying logic is that blacks are possessed of some form of racial pathology or self-destructive racial impulses, that personal responsibility and systemic inequity are separate issues and not intersecting ones. 

This is the false dichotomy that chokes to death any real accountability and honesty. Systemic anti-black bias doesn’t dictate personal behavior, but it can certainly influence and inform it. And personal behavior can reinforce people’s belief that their biases are justified. So goes the cycle. 

But at the root of it, we can’t expect equality of outcome while acknowledging inequality of environments.

Just when you think that politicians can't get any lower, they do something to surprise you.


Take for instance the republican senate candidate from New Mexico.


This piece of filth though that it would be cool to use the beheading of an American to make a political point.

At least he didn't show the actual footage of the beheading, although, given the desperate nature of politics in America, I am sure that will be next.


So the parents of Michael Brown had the unfortunate task of burying their son today.


The community is understandably angry, but they should remain calm (although I would understand it- not condone it- if they didn't), and they should honor the memory of this young man in a solemn and dignified way. Unlike the way that the authorities in Ferguson, Missouri treated him right after his killing.


I know that according to some folks (including the ignoramuses at the New York Times) he was no angel", but he was his mother's angel, and a police officer with issues did not have the right to take him from her.


Finally, I was thinking about something while reading the latest story about a "loving" family man killing his family. This time a man in Georgia shot his wife and his toddler to death and then turned the gun on himself. Think about that for a minute.......He. Killed. His. Toddler.


The most depraved and morally bankrupt gangbanger isn't taking a gun and killing his own child who happens to be a toddler.


And yet, when these types of things happen in a certain community, you don't hear cries of a need for a national conversation about these types of pathologies, or pundits always pointing out these things when there are other issues to be addressed.


"Brian Miller, 41, who's described by his stunned daughter as a "religious" man and "good dad," is suspected of killing his wife, Kara, 29, and their 21-month-old son, Paxton, in their Paulding County home, reported WSBTV.
The tragic discovery came when deputies were called to the home to perform a welfare check Monday after family said they hadn't heard from the couple since Friday. It's not yet clear when they died.


"He's very church involved. He's very religious. He's a good dad and he didn't deserve something like this," Ashley Miller, Brian Miller's daughter from a previous marriage, told WSBTV.


Ashley added that the couple recently celebrated their five-year anniversary and were happy, adding to her agonizing shock and confusion."'


Ashley, his family "didn't deserve something like this"; he, on the other hand, deserved everything he got.
