Hillary lays down a "bitch" slap.

I have never been a big fan of Hillary Clinton. But honestly, if she is the Democratic nominee for President she will have my vote. Why? Because there is no way in hell that I would give my vote to one of those snow white looking seven dwarfs on the republican side. None!

But back to my point. It seems that Hillary laid a royal smack down on a conservative brother at the National Association of Black Journalist convention in Las Vegas. Apparently my man was trying to be cute, and approached one of the smartest people in American politics without his guns loaded.

According to Philadelphia Daily News columnist, Elmer Smith, a conservative black blogger by the name of Kiara Ashanti had "lined Hillary Rodham Clinton up in his gun sights" from the get go. "I can't wait" he told Smith in a Q&A session at the convention last week. He wanted to expose Clinton's "liberal proposals on health reform as a step toward what she believes is an all too socialistic agenda." According to Smith, this conservative blogger" wanted to raise his own visibility as much as he wanted to bring Clinton down a peg."

So let's see how it played out shall we:

After this genius asked Lady Hillary if she advocated socialist medicine, this was her response: "I've never advocated socialized medicine and I hope all journalist hear that" She said in a sharpened tone. "Do you consider Medicare socialized medicine?" she shot back at the genius. "In a way", said the little wimp. According to Smith's account, his answer was "lame." Then lady Hillary told the little republican wanna be house Negro to see her aides about the substance of her health-care proposals "if he was interested in being educated instead of being rhetorical."

Ouch!

Smith said it was a rare moment of being unscripted for Clinton and Smith suspected that it might have turned a thousand black journalist against her, and in fact, some of the older black journalist felt Clinton was arrogant. (Get over that shit)Apparently, according to Smith, some of the young journalist present flocked to Ashanti, to get his contact information. Mission accomplished for the conservative sellout. Your ass should have been in Iowa ambushing the candidate whose religion didn't want your black ass in their flock only a few years ago. Instead, you try to make a name off of Hillary by asking about her health care plan? I have to wonder about some black folks sometimes. Hey, but Hillary showed more restraint than I would have. I might have slapped your stupid ass, and told those other journalist in the house to go and report that shit.

But alas, Hillary has a sense of humor. According to Smith she was asked in a closed door session later on if "she had pandered to a black audience by reciting lyrics of a spiritual in what some considered an attempt to 'sound black'" Her answer was classic: "Well as you know, I'm in this interracial marriage."

And you might have a field Negro's vote there Hillary, you just might.

The above post was dedicated to my friend and Hillary supporter, Francis Holland.

Francis,I am begging you to let this "whitosphere" battle go. Please come to the dark side and expend your considerable energy and talents with us. I promise you, we will appreciate you more than they will. I know you have this beef with Markos and the Kos folks, but just remember; success is always the sweetest revenge.

ok, so I have to admit that for the past week I have been sort of lurking on your blog, tho I did once post. You're doing a wonderful job as are most of the bloggers I have visited from your roll, and I come here daily to see your next post. I had been considering doing a blog of my own, and it was only because I read yours and other bloggers that I decided to do so. I think you're all doing a great job, and perhaps you will come by mine and let me know what you think.

This is a great article. I've just cross-posted an excerpt with a link over at the Democratic AfroSpear.

Here's a link to the original Clinton/NABJ story in the Philadelphia Daily News

As for MAMZ, if there is anyone who could convince me to get off his case then it would you be you, Field. I respect your judgment as a Black self-determination blogger mentor, and as a leader in the AfroSpear. I can see the strong logic of your argument in favor of an intra-community focus and I acknowledge its force and substance. I even sent you an e-mail about it, before I read the last paragraph of this post.

But, I still wonder who presents the greater threat to Black people and our political interests? D.L.Hughley, David Duke, or Markos Alberto C. Moulitsas Zúñiga?

Jazzylady, I will check out your link. And welcome to the blogging world. We can't have enough bloggers out here; one more voice added to whatever debate we are having is always good.

Francis, thanks for the kind words, and please try to take my advise. You can still lay a bitch slap on Markos every now and then, and by all means, expose his ass if you come up with anymore skeletons. You are always free to post your comments and links here.

This is one site where you will NEVER be banned.

Peace.

Bitch-slapping Markos is one thing, but Bitch-slapping a Black female blogger like Shanikka (see Francis's "Condoleeza Shanikka" post) is a bit much, dontchathink? And relying on the statements of a paunchy, middle-aged and cantankerous white boy (Blogging Curmudgeon) to do so?

If "silence is never golden", where's the show of solidarity with Shanikka who has now gotten caught in the crossfire of this ridiculous feud between Holland and the BigBoxBigotBlogs?

Anon. what the fuck are you talking about? Before you start with me; why don't you tell me what this is all about?

Please provide a link to the post to which you refer, and I will address it. Otherwise....never mind.

I am not in the mood for an e-fight right now. Maybe later!

Field,

As always, you post these priceless, MasterCard moment gems.

I guess this House Negro named "Elmer" aka "Ashanti" will be gunning for Obama next up. Personally, I'm suspicious of a brotha hiding behind a woman's name as an alias on a blog.

And while Francis has a beef with Markos, you have to give Markos a prop for calling a House Negro a House Negro to his face (i. e. MTP, starring Lawn Jockey Harold Ford, Jr.)

I hope to see Harold Ford the human being instead of Harold Ford, the politico, because the ReThugs are getting way too much milage out of fronting and pimping this, ahem, "brotha" as their "Inclusion in the ReThug party" message; so much so, that in DC's progressive circles, he's known as "Harold Whore, Jr." or "Harold the Ho".

Really painful to watch, especially when you see the brotha is starting to get it, but doesn't want to.

FLH - in some ways the Kos types are worse because more powerful but don't let 'em suck too much energy ... stay vigilant but also save resources to build elsewhere.

LOL on this Hillary vignette, Field. :-)

Great post. I'm glad to see Hillary on her toes. She is growing in my estimation. Though undecided, I am leaning toward her at this point.

She's pretty tough and pretty no-nonsense. Gotta admire that.

FN,

I'll never vote for her.

Period.

rikyrah said...

Oh, and I agree with you completely about Francis.

Francis has serious skills, and the 'black-o-sphere' could use his talent.

I laughed but still with rikyrah on not voting for Hillary.

I'm with rikyrah and iansj on the no vote for Ms. Clinton.

Folks, the "ice lady" isn't my first choice either, but I will be damned if I vote for one of the repub, candidates.

And I sure will not be wasting my vote on an independent. Although it would be nice to see a viable outsider run for once.

Field,

Add me to the list of those who will not vote for Senator Clinton.

I would like to know who is your first choice. Will you share?

(Slinks back behind the lurkers curtain.)

Field - Still always reading and loving your blog/the running dialogue/etc...I'm actually confused by this post though...

I mean...I know people are afraid of the S word but shouldn't we have socialized medicine?!? I think it's pathetic that candidates are so afraid of the S word that they can't support what would benefit the 45 MILLION uninsured americans (did you see that recent study about america's low life expectancy being due, among things, to this lack of health insurance...and actually they cite "people have the luxuries and resources to make poor lifestyle choices"...which warrants a whole other conversation)...

when i think about the s word, in terms of basic needs and services, i think about how firehouses used to only service certain neighborhoods because they were privately owned...but then when poor peoples houses burned down and spread to affect rich people's houses people got the bright idea that perhaps they should attempt to provide firefighting services "equally"...yeah hence socialized firehouses(though there still is plenty to argue about how effectively this is practiced)...

anyway that was just the first thing that occurred to me...that and...i DO have a sense of humor...i swear...um...but...i didn't think hillary's comment was funny. that's one of those, let me make an inside joke so i can be part of the circle in such a way that we can glaze over all the ways i'm really not WITH you...

again a whole other conversation...im not going to say clinton wasnt better than we have now, clearly...but it's so way too easy to always make that "hes the closest to a black president" comment...its a PROBLEM to me that his aesthetic can serve to mask the ways some of his actions were hugely devastating to black people...can we talk about welfare reform? sistah souljah? ... i mean to me its the basic "liberal" problem...and im from ny so there is SO much of it here...nonprofit "social services" etc. world is riddled by it...it's the APPEARANCE of something positive...the well stated and possibly very real INTENTIONS...and the reality of bullshit and contradictory actions...i often find that illusion even worse than being explicitly toxic. To still be toxic but appear otherwise...is a scarier situation to me...

just some brainbarf...

Honestly metricpenny, I wan't to share, but I really don't know. Although I am leaning towards Obama right now. (Here it comes; you are only for Obama because he is black) Somtimes I like Edwards, but then I think about those $400 hair cuts. And his wife pissed me off the other day....I like the short guy from Ohio (Kucnis...oh hell I can't even spell his name, which is why he will never get elected. And since I don't want to waste my vote....)

Yep, I am going with Obama right now. Of course that could change tomorrow ;)

"Whitosphere." I was calling it the "Caucasphere" or in the case of Wingnuts the "Neckosphere."

I don't think Hillary can win Field. The Dems have to at least take one "Red state", and she's hated by them more than Bin Laden.

As far as this black wingnut is concerned, maybe they're doing it to get publicity. You know how the parties love to jump on their minority supporters, especially the Cons. Look how much they love that pinhead Malkin. It's not often you find "people of color" who not only hate themselves but are also willing to declare it in front of the world. (Listening to Malkin over enunciate her words in order to sound "White" makes me ill. Not all white people hang out with guys named "Thaddeus" and we don't all sound like we're from New England!)

Maybe this "journalist" is trying to catch the wave of switch out success?

Speaking of "sell-outs," I have a question. What do you call a white person who acts like a House Negro? I got in a debate with this "dude" and I swear between the lines he was saying, "Don't be sass'n tha Massa."

Is it okay for me to call him a House Negro? If not can I send him over here so you can do it?

McCarthyites of the 50's and 60's demonized the word "socialist" just as Gingrichists of the 90's and 00's did "liberal". Remember that when you start salivating...like Pavlov's dogs...over "socialized medicine."
