This is nothing a little prayer can't solve.

Ahhh the A-merry-can religious right, they are so persecuted and misunderstood here in the land of the free.

Consider poor Mike Huckabee: the man is already complaining that the "Stimulus Package" is "anti religious". Yes he really said that. Apparently Mike doesn't like some of the language in the bill which bans higher education funds from being used where divinity is being taught.

“You would think the ACLU drafted this bill... For all of the talk about bipartisanship, this Congress is blatantly liberal.”

We can only wish there Mike, but unfortunately they are not liberal enough. Now keep in mind folks, this is a man who almost became your president. This is a man who was and still is a major player in a major political party in this country. And his biggest problem with a plan that is the most important piece of economic legislation in our country's history is that divinity schools could not get funding. And Mike is not alone, quite a few conservatives are up in arms over the religious bigotry found in the O man's bill.

Now I want to be fair to Mike; maybe he knows something what we all don't. Maybe divine intervention is the only thing that will get us out of this mess, and if it is, we can't piss off the big guy by preventing funding from going to his schools. Maybe we should have put a few billion dollars in the package just for all things divine. Commission a group to study and to find the folks who could send up the best prayers here in A-merry-ca. We could get a team of religious experts (interfaith of course) and they could start a kind of "Manhattan Project" centered around prayers instead of bombs. Can you imagine the possibilities? All this wrangling back and forth over something as simple as money when the man [or woman] who created this whole "shibang" could just click his [her] fingers and it would be over. And since A-merry-ca is his [her] country here in earth. The one country that was created in his [her] own image, I am sure he [she] would have no problem hooking us up.

Why don't we listen to these religious conservatives more? Our problems would be so easily solved if we would just listen.

Oh well, I am sure Mike will run for president soon again. If he does, there is no way the big guy will make him lose. The next time A-merry-ca will definitely get it right. This is all just a test of our will to see if we can truly appreciate how blessed we are.

Thank you Mike, and please thank the big guy for me. I know he answers your prayers. And I can't wait for you to become our president so that he can answer mine.

I don't know why. but that guy really creeps me out. My boyfriend calls him "the likable republican". I don't agree at all. i think his likability is what makes him even more dangerous. I don't (Heart) Huckabee! lol

IM NUMBER ONE!!

The funny thing about most religious conservatives...they dont walk their talk. Besides, they all are just looking for something to complain about. Something NEW. Interesting starting point. Now, lets see whats next.

Good old Huckabee, yes he is for religion... just ask Mitt Romney.
You knew what you were doing Huckabee.

Please correct me Field if i'm wrong here, but wasn't it the Republicans who took out the funding for the schools beening ban for higher education funds from being used where divinity is being taught. They said that it was not a stimulus.

Anonymous said...

Ahh the Republicans, you can always count on them to exploit religion. Here we have yet another shyster that worships the perverted messiah known as Supply-Side Jesus. Fortunately, only the very dumbest of Ozark rubes are still willing to fall for such faux populist bullshit.

Hell, we got a winning ticket here.

The best thing about Huckabee will be his ability to steal primary votes from Sarah Palin. :)

....thus clearing the way for Mitt Romney.

hmmm.. Is there no longer separation of church and state? Did I miss something?

Huckabee vs. Palin, it's going to get ugly as they try to prove who is more "religious".

field negro said...

"Obama is the savior, and Big Mike speaks for God."

Now we need just one more to complete the "Trinity". Palin maybe?

Swiff, do you think it's Mitt vs. his O ness in 2012?

Lola, close enough my dear, close enough.;)

How ironic, these are the same people who have been running around saying we should not be increasing funding, but offering tax cuts. These are the same people who insist their schools don't need to pay taxes because they are tax exempt since they are a religious institution.
Now, when funding is being restored for schools, they scream they want their share!!??? Please.

One of the unspoken reasons for this lack of funding is the religious institution's practice that they can discriminate against gays and lesbians because being gay is a violation of their beliefs. Seems to me, we finally have a congress that is willing to say, fine, you want to discriminate, don't expect money from the government to do so.

Anytime the religious right thinks it can't shove its belief and its dogma down our throats they screech about being oppressed.

Meanwhile, these wingtards never miss an opportunity to proselytize and pimp their Bible.

Too funny.

Mitt v O in 2012?
There is no way the South will vote for a Mormon, thats what Huckabee showed us last time.

Orchid, he always reminds me of that "Mr. Dark" in the movie "Something Wicked This Way Comes".

Sorry, but I never found religious fanatics to have stable minds, period. It’s a red flag.

The weird thing is that Huckabee routinely got 40% of the black vote in Arkansas in his four elections as Governor.

Unfortunately the "white Jesus" and "fire and brimstone" still holds a spell over a lot of us.

Anonymous said...

uptownsteve, nothing weird about Huckabee getting about 40% of the black vote in Arkansas. There are alot of blacks in Arkansas who are religious and Huckabee did provide some benefits to the citizens. Huckabee holds the fire and brimstone to a minimum when in public.

Religious nutcase, Mike Huckabee, has never explained his close association to prominent members of the Christian Reconstructionist movement who believe that Old Testament law should replace the Constitution and that the Bible also justifies corporal or capital punishment for adulterers and gays.

In 1998, Huckabee co-wrote the book, “Kids Who Kill” with Reconstructionist author George Grant. Grant is a religious nutcase with extreme and dangerous religious views. This passage is from Grant’s 1987 book “The Changing of the Guard” (Ft. Worth, TX: Dominion Press, 1987), pp. 50-51.

"Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ to have dominion in the civil structures, just as in every other aspect of life and godliness. But it is dominion that we are after. Not just a voice. It is dominion we are after. Not just influence. It is dominion we are after. Not just equal time. It is dominion we are after. World conquest. That’s what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish."

The Cato Institute also reported that Huckabee held a fundraiser at the Houston home of Dr. Steven Hotze, another leader of the radical and dangerous Reconstructionist movement.

American voters have a troubling history of electing politicians (think: Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush) who have limited intelligence and who embrace extremist views. Mike Huckabee is just the latest of this ilk.

Huckabee is just another Bible thumping lunatic.

Because Huckabee doesn't play the Rethug racial politics. He's not a bigot - which makes him very unusual in the Rethug hierarchy.

Hee. Mike H. My favorite ranting lunatic.

Believe it or not...he has a pretty damn good sense of humor for a raving nutcase. Sometimes when he announces crap like this, it's really hard to tell if his tongue is planted firmly in his cheek or not.

Now for the surprise...

Surprise! Huckabee is a hypocritical dipshit. Who'd a thunk it?

Maybe we should just email him the amendment to the Older Americans Act of 2006 (H. R. 6197), sponsored by a half dozen or so Republicans, and containing the exact same language that he is whining about. It was passed by a GOP-controlled Congress and signed into law by the the shrub himself, on October 17, 2006.

Fuck 'em

Rant all he wants, the government is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing. According to the constitution, the Government should be irreligious, not anti-religious. The State is not supposed to promote the idea that any one religion is false, any more than they are supposed to be promoting the idea that any one religion is true.

DC not spending money on promoting his flavor of religion isn't being anti-religious; it's just being irreligious, like it should be.

You can't even get Steele to admit it!

You're right.

Yeah....my parade (political idealism) stopped marching in 1992...and it got urinated on.

I am a disgruntled, politically emittered centrist with some left and right views of things. ( A Republitarian or Republicrat if you will.) I have always tried to undercut both left and right views.

I guess Florida and Texas would be anomalies then....Republican governorship, wealth, also high populations, and high crime (Miami, Tampa, Houston, Dallas).

I just wish more liberals/progressives would admit that the (D) party is just as bad as the (R). I liken it to buying a house in rural and being given a this choice: There is going to be a mega-farm of some type that has to be built near my home - a farm of cows or pigs. I have choice of putting with the smell of pig manure or cow manure. Both odors are variations of essentially the same thing. Neither party is worth of defending...in my view. Many disagree with me, and that is fine.

I like the fact the (D) party has managed to produce someone repsectable - President Obama.

One thing I like about Field's blog is that he opens the door for all of us exiles - no matter what brand or stripe you are.

Anonymous said...

Field,

Wow. We live in a land of white rappers, black golfers, and black presidents, but....I am marking my calendar - I believe this is the first time I have ever seen a white, grey-haired Republican make it to Field Negro status.

Anonymous said...

"I just wish more liberals/progressives would admit that the (D) party is just as bad as the (R)."

Not when it comes to race.

There is a big difference between the two parties and that does matter.

There is a reason why the Dems put a black man in the White House and the GOP can't get a black elected to Congress.

Christopher said...

Are you serious?

Anonymous said...

UptownSteve:

The D's put on better dog & pony show on racial matters than the R's - who do not have one. In truth, and in reality, they do not care.

Yes, Christopher, historically and presently the D party has been and continues to be as bad as the R party. They, like their counterparts, will promote whatever agenda comes because it is expedient to do so. They are on the same moral level.

WHY is it that, some of you people, use the name if GOD in total disrespect! you dismiss the BIBLE, ridicule the name of JESUS! some of you people are really BOLD! I see some of your face's, and trust me! you could use a DOSE of JESUS!

WHAT a mess this WORLD is in! GOD gave MAN DOMINION over the EARTH, it is your DUTY to come forth, and take full DOMINION over the LAND, but yet, you chose to FIGHT for GAY RIGHT'S, in other word's, let me be a BIBLE THUMPER, for a minute, the WORD of GOD tell's us that, MEN should not SLEEP with other MEN! but, yet, they are doing so, and we call it SIN!! and it's all over the GOOD BOOK, the BIBLE, BASIC INSTRUCTION'S before leaving EARTH! so you call us BIBLE THUMPER'S! well thank you JESUS! because in this day and age, I'll rather PREACH JESUS and him CRUCIFIED, than to be lost in these last and EVIL day's, and no, I do not agree with the way MIKE HUCKABEE, represent's CHRIST! he should not be on FOX NEW'S ATTACKING the PRESIDENT, so in that instance he is WRONG, and GOD will deal with him, but, on the other hand, MIKE has respect for GOD, and that's more than I can say about some of you men.

field negro said...

Anon. 7:39PM, I respect your right to believe in Jesus. And by all means, preach until your hearts content. But wouldn't God want you to respect Gays and other people who don't have the same views and sexual preferences as you do? Honestly, I think JC would have been down with the Gays.

EXCUSE me, FIELD NEGRO, but, in the case of GOD, you dismiss, his LAW'S! and as far as JESUS is concerned, his purpose was to heal the SIN SICK SOUL, and if JESUS would by chance, appear on the EARTH, and broke bread with GAY'S, it would be to open their BLIND eye's so they could take heed to their SIN!

Looks like Fox News is living in a glass house. I bet you won't hear them talking about this on their little soap opera session.

What's Not on Fox News (2): Producer Arrested for Child Porn
Reported by Alex - Wed 11:15 AM
TV Newser reported on Tuesday that Fox "News" producer Aaron Bruns has been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography and was due to appear in court that day. Bruns was embedded with the Hillary Clinton campaign and has been employed by Fox since 2001.
Correction and update: The original TVNewser post appeared on Tuesday and stated that Bruns was due to appear in court that day, and not today as I had previously stated. According to an AP report Bruns appeared in the U.S. District Court in Washington, with another appearance scheduled for Thursday at which time the judge will decide whether to continue to hold him in jail. The same report says that Fox News is aware of the arrest and that Bruns was suspended Tuesday without pay.

I think the above anonymous poster, the one with the cable ratings breakdown, must not have read Orwell's "1984" and pondered the author's rhetorical question, "how can millions be wrong and only a few be right," in the context of totalitarian control of information in that fictional society.

Winning ratings from night to night does not make the Fox editorial position any more correct.
