A big baby and a big fraud.

*
A couple of things have me seeing red tonight: The first one has to do with the lying scumbags from the insurance lobby and their last ditch effort to influence the politricksters who will vote on the Baucus version of the health care reform bill tomorrow. These are the same people who made nice with his O ness just a few months ago and promised to work with him to get health reform passed. Now look at them. O man, you might be from Chicago, but you still have a lot to learn about dirty politics.

This latest report from the health insurance lobby group (AHIP) claims that premiums will shoot up if the proposed health care bills happens to pass. Can you say bullshit boys and girls? Please keep in mind that the firm that prepared this report is the same one that prepared that bogus report for big tobacco a few years back. The folks over at Radio Rwanda, as is to be expected, is all over this report, and they are treating it as if it is a legitimate study. I am sure that was the intent when the dirty rotten scoundrels put it out there in the first place. And, to be fair, it's not only them; other main stream media outlets have been giving legitimacy to this study as well.

How much do you want to bet that the spineless politricksters in Washington will be quoting from this bogus report as they run for cover? Thank goodness for baby Alex; that cute Colorado baby who the insurance companies refused to insure because he has a pre-existing condition. Yep, seems you can't be a chubby baby (17 pounds @ 4 months) if you want to get covered in A-merry-ca anymore. That is considered a pre-existing condition to big insurance. Hopefully A-merry-ca is paying more attention to baby Alex than the AHIP study. If they do that it will open up some eyes, and maybe, just this once, we can actually get something right in this country.

The second thing that pissed me off tonight was watching yet another house Negro, Stephen A. Smith, (Or as he is affectionately known here in Philly:"Screaming" A. Smith.) defend Rush Limbaugh and his right to buy an NFL team. According to house Negro Smith, all those athletes saying that they won't play for Rush are a bunch "hypocrites" who are "lying through their teeth", and once that check is put in front of them they will all sign on the dotted line.

This is typical of the house Negro: he or she always assigns traits to others that they themselves possess. Stephen A. Smith would sign the check because he is a whore, and he can't believe that other black men would have the courage and the character to walk away from money in order to stand up for something which they believe in.

What Stephen and those of his ilk don't understand is that when they come out and openly chastise young black men who are trying to do the right thing, they play right into the hands of folks like this; folks who are all too willing to put up the black man disagrees with other black man headline.

And let me say something else about Mr. Smith which is a little more personal: He is an ego- maniacal jerk, and he tries to big-time people whenever they are fortunate enough to be in his presence. (Ugly suits and all) I know, because I have been in his presence a time or two. Stephen A. Smith is not a very good journalist, but he caught a break when the Philadelphia Inquirer hired his sorry ass. ESPN loved his big mouth and gave him some shine on their network, but that lasted about as long as you can say fraud. And now this clown is telling anyone who will listen that he is down with Rush but not the athletes who spoke out against him?
Negro please! Take your sorry ass and your fucked up haircut back to Winston- Salem with that bullshit. That big fat check Rush will slip you might go far down there.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's blood was boiling! I surely going to write MSNBC about having him as a political analyst. He has a SPORTS background, he has no credibility when it comes to politics as far as I'm concerned.

The whole time he was calling these players hypocrites, I was waiting for him to give an example. And even if he did, why not back these players up if they feel so strong about limbaugh not being an owner.

I nominate that fool as House Negro of the day.

Let me see if I can tie in both stories--greedy insures using a preexisting condition to deny insurance to a baby, and Rush Limbaugh, a spoiled overgrown brat who thinks his popularity on the Right entitles him to anything he wants, including the Rams.

The commonality here is entitlement.

Healthy insurers believe themselves to be entitled to your money, although what they deliver is not health care, but health care avoidance, if you're deep in their territory with a play, and they're fighting back a sure touchdown.

Rush Limbaugh believes he, and his other investors, are entitled to your indulgence, and your silence, although he's trashed the NFL with remarks like, "Look, let me put it to you this way: The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it."

And, like the health care reform he's openly fought against, Rush Limbaugh would be unhealthy for the League, which would require an H1N1 annual swine flu shot to inoculate the League against his big mouth, and the divisiveness his presence is sure to spawn

Two cheers for posting on both... I sincerely hope that the Insurance industries' threat will back-fire and ensure that a public option will pass.... That would show the greedy fuckers we will not play! I am tired of their selfish greed.... They wana threaten to take their marbles (and ours) and go home? Fine! Single payer nationalized health care should be the response of our elected officials... I am gonna suggest this to my reps and tell them DO NOT BACK DOWN TO GREED!

As for Stephen Smith..... you said it perfectly, Field... to preemptively dismiss players and assume they lack the courage of their convictions... talk about projection!

....."lying scumbags from the insurance lobby...."

they come in many variations. some are blatant, like the ones you describe; others are very benign. there's a former state senator's wife who was an 125K public relations hospital administrator. when he was elected U.S. senator, a similar 300K VP position was created, and his wife got the job. when he was elected President of the U.S. the job was abolished. and now this person, whose lifestyle was , in part, made possible by insurance corp. money, is now going to rescue us from it.

Wouldn't it be funny if Fat Ass gets the team...only white dudes and house negroes will be on it, like a miniature Republican Party! Maybe "Constructive Feedback" could try out for Head Cheerleader/Waterboy.

As for the insurance companies, the MSM will never report on how sleazy they are because they are owned by the very same conglomerates, they are part of the problem, so they can be no solution.

Baby Alex, a preexisting condition. Well there you go.

Field, do not get upset with me but don't you think that Rush Limbaugh who wants to partner to buy the Ram is a work? I think it is contrive and once again has won because we are talking about. As Stephen said on Hardball let him buy the team because Rush wants the NFL to say no and he can play the victim to his listeners. It is really a win for Limbaugh even if he loses. Smith is right because green is the only color that matters. Field, I understand that you do not Rush to own an NFL team, but we are dealing with things as they are and not how they aught to be and there is nothing to prevent him from buying the Rams. Deep down inside you know it as well, but you have a right to be angry.

field negro said...

Hennasplace, of course Rush has a right to buy the team. This is, after all, A-merry-ca. But those players also have a right to refuse to go to his team once they become free agents.

Frankly, given his very open position about minorities and the type of people who play in the NFL, I am surprised that he even wants anything to do with them or that league.

Obviously there is something else at work here. I suspect a massa complex. I can't compete with these jock in the athletic arena, but at least I can be their boss and write their checks. That's just me playing pop psychiatrist.

Minnie, do you believe it? All these black political scientist and thinkers out here and they have this clown on giving his opinions on politics. MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves.

Makaii, that pic was taken from a FOX site. I placed the asterisk there because I was thinking about giving them credit. But then I said f&*# it, it's FOX, who cares? No credits for them. They can sue me, but good luck. :)

Smith also mentioned that Rush and the NFL think alike, but it would be beneficial from a pr perspective for them not to. Let's face it a few players may say something, but most are not going to put their careers on the line for out all of the pro sports, players have the shortest lifespan to play. Another point Smith made today about players saying something.

Talk about the insurance companies, but it's their risk management models that the GOVERNMENT will apply once Obamacare passes. Furthermore, the insurance companies will be the local administrators of healthcare services.

With regards to Rush and the team, he is a lying bloviating jerk. BUT if he was paying players millions of dollars I doubt many of them would refuse. Not housenegrodom, simply economics and human behavior.

Unless O Man has a pact with the Tooth Fairy or the Devil himself how are we going to pay for a health care plan that disregards responsible behavior and simply mandates more coverage/benefits for less dollars? Has anyone asked: why is this fat little fellow fat? Is this an environmental or genetic issue? A pre-existing condition such as hypothyroidism that is inherited and beyond one's control is a lot different than eating a big stack of pancakes with a slab of bacon every morning. Someone is smoking way too much crack to swallow the crap that behavior is of no consequence and that everyone is entitled to every kind of medical treatment for free no matter what period..
As for Rush owning an NFL franchise who really gives a shit? What if we were to apply the same standards to the players we are applying to Rush? The NFL would become a Pee Wee league. Pick your battles more appropriately...it's just a f*cking game and if a rich white guy wants to pay to play why not? I'll bet if Louis Farrakhan or Al Sharpton put in to buy a team franchise none of you would complain or even see the hypocrisy in your support of them. So shut the F up and fight the battles that count and mean something.

as to the NFL, i'm all for players taking a symbolic stand against the Bloated Pedophile-Addict, but the truth is it's sort of ironic. after all, the super-rich guys who own the rest of the teams have likely done quite a bit themselves, when it comes to keeping the Folk down and oppressed. specifically, i'd bet the vast majority of owners are regular contributors to republican and right wing causes and organizations. if the players care so much about that, well, nevermind. they're football players, i don't expect too much thinking from them.

i hope y'all aren't putting too much faith in the coming health "care" "reform" bill. i'm not fooled by the as-yet-undefined "public option," either. i promise you: whatever this congress passes won't make your life better, and may in fact make it worse. anything that isn't single universal payer will do that. this has been established over and over at the level of the states, where mandates, co-ops, and other compromises with the insurance industry have failed, time and time again, to provide real care to those who are most in need.

Field I am in agreement with most of what you say, but i have to take you to task on the Stephen A. Smith (SAS) thing. Before let me say that SAS is a jackass who believes that talking loud will compensate for talking crap, and as we all know crap at any decibel is still crap.
So i saw him on Hardball, and i have to say on the scale of house negro behavior his was not very "domestic". In the case of Limbaugh he stated categorically that he would be bad for the NFL. As for the players he made a valid point that although there are some black players that would put their money where their mouth is and stand behind principle most would not. The reason he gave is that most black players are afraid of the backlash from owners (white), coaches (mostly white) , and fans if they speak on on anything controversial(read racially suggestive).
A case in point, Michael Vick after serving time for dog fighting (just a point here i have heard of people beating HUMANS to the point of near death and have gotten probation, but i digress) he was the suspended from playing additional games by the league. Now this was crap and the only black player that i saw that spoke out was T.O.!!!! How many black players are in the league? Where the hell were they at this clear injustice? Given that can you see why SAS or even myself would be skeptical that most black players (acknowledging that some would stand up cause there are some good field negroes in the league) would stand up for a simple principle.

2. uninisured poor people were never in their plans (just like the swindleus bs)

3. only elitist medical corps and the govt will benefit from this bitter hostile govt takeover of health care

4. stories like this "obese" baby will PALE by comparison to millions of coverage denials and tragedies under obamacare

see a great reality check here:

http://www.american.com/archive/2008/october-10-08/obamas-plan-to-end-private-health-insurance

see much more at OUTLOOK

wake up!

Obamacare is reactionary and class-based. It's industry-friendly at the expense of real reform. It assures affluent households top-flight care, others only as much as they can afford, and imposes fines on people too poor to buy coverage, so whatever plan is imposed on them will be inadequate when they need it most because current ones are designed to fail. It subordinates essential needs to bottom-line considerations and leaves a broken system in place.

Obamacare is to health care reform what No Child Left Behind is to educating the nation's youths in for-profit schools; what Operation Iraqi Freedom is to liberating an occupied people; what Operation Enduring Freedom is to bringing democracy to Afghanistan; and what the Global War on Terror is to peace and good will.

It's a scheme to ration health care, enrich corporate providers, and leave a broken system in place. It's a patchwork idea to repackage failure and claim success. It's a corrupted way to sacrifice real needs on the alter of marketplace medicine by doing too little and leaving growing millions out in the cold, on their own, and at the mercy of for-profit predators. The solution is everybody in, nobody out under a universal, single-payer system. Its time has come, and no one should accept anything less or politicians who won't provide it.”

Rick Sanchez also had long retired NFL star "Mercury" Morris to offer his "highly Informed" opinion on the Rush buying the Rams controversy. Mercury actually beat Wide Mouth Smith to the sandbox. In less than 3 seconds he was busy jigging for Rush to buy the team and find out what it's actually like to own and run a professional NFL team. Sanchez kept asking mercury what about black players drafted out of college to the Rams, who don't want to play for Limbaugh? Morris just kept jigging in the sand box and rolling his eyes and repeating his silly statements. Both of these House Negroes are hoping to get their asses on Rush's payroll. They'll even have a pair of well shined shoes waiting for him with his first morning cigar.

Don't worry about Limbaugh, the owners will never give his group a ticket to buy the Rams, simply because there are a lot of WHITE football players who don't want to play for trash mouth Limbaugh. No professional athlete wants to be publicaly humiliated by a big mouth blob of fart fat that can barely get in and out of a chair. Now that would be clever, having minority ownership of a franchise. This would put the players in something of a bind: At what point is ownership too much? 1%? 10%? 25%?

Once Limbaugh gets his foot in the door, it paves the way for his majority ownership. So, now's the time to object. I think a black boycott of all of pro football over any involvement by Limbaugh would be the way to go, but that's just me.

I have to disagree as well on the SAS thing. That guy is definitely a bonehead. He just talks really fast and tries to rhyme his words, to make it sound like he's saying something thought-provoking. But he ain't sayin' shit. On Hardball, it was just him playing this same old game. He was trying to be contradictory. He said Rush would be bad for the NFL but he personally wanted to see him do it, just because then he'd realize it's not so easy. It was some back-handed insult that no one really cares about. My problem with him is that he decided to put all the responsibility on the players. He assumed they would follow the cash as opposed to their conscious. I just find that wrong. It's not the responsibility of the players to refuse to play on a Rush Limbaugh team. It's the respons. of the league to not put them in that situation. I am not a big football fan but I like football movies and try to do a little research after I see them. And I also like doc. and Bob Costas (even though Costas is kind of a drama queen). But my point being is black football players have had to fight racism on the field and in the owner's box for years. If the league allows a racist nut to buy a team, it's just a huge slap in the face to black players and to black fans. And I agree that they would be left with the bottom of the barrell because anyone who had options would choose to play for another team.

Here's a question for your blog though. Why do you let these racist nut jobs continue to post on your site and get all nasty and personal. Not complaining. I love the blog. But they just post to destract folks and start arguments. Doesn't it piss you off that they use your blog to get their racist and whacked out rocks off.

thanks Field for calling out Steven A Smith and i disagree with the person who said Smith is just being contradictory. I think Smith is trying to get paid. He has stuck his wet finger in the air and figured out that pay days blow toward those who denigrate black folks while pretending to be Black.

The health care industry is a sham and proof positive of why capitalism doesn't work. When the profit motive is considered the welfare of individuals takes a back seat. It happens over and over again so we know the truth. Now Field we need the collective will to change this thing.

Thanks again for that House Negro post. BTW I am running to a debate which include Minneapolis own version of the House Negro.

I'll say it: this is America and if it's legal you can buy it. That being said, if Rush buys the Rams, I'm burning the jersey one of my friends gave me.

But to be real about what Steve Smith said, he's right. Some of those guys will take a check and look the other way, but you'll see who's in the field and who is in the house. What would be cooler is if a bunch of them retired at the same time while Rush owned it and he had to pay for them to sit at home. Hopefully it would blow his mind from fear he may be paying reparations.

Now insurance companies are basically a fraud to me after seeing what happened with Katrina. I remember companies not wanting to pay because they could get away disputing if there was flood or wind damage done. Also earthquake insurance is a game because if a bad quake happened, I think most companies would go bankrupt if a lot of homes were insured. So if this swine flu thing hits and everyone gets sick, it may be the end of medical insurance companies. So to keep their money safe, they limit who can get insurance to someone in "flawless" physical condition. My thing is if they can bar people from joining and want a say in government, the government should make another option for people who can't get insurance since it was set up to protect society.

Assuming this baby doesn't have a medical condition contributing to him being overweight, I'm going to have to side with the insurance company for one reason: MAYBE the threat of losing health insurance will encourage fat ass, lazy, non exercising Americans, to eat better and get some damn exercise!!!!!

Better yet, why don't those of you who disagree with the insrucance company, pay his medical bills until he dies because he damn sure is going to have them for the rest of his life!!!!

Better yet, why don't some you all volunteer to take his big ass in when he gets so big he can't leave the house in about 15-20 years. Yeah that's it, wash his big ass, WIPE his big ass, and keep him fed!!!! And FYI, that opaque, cake like substance often found in the multiple folds of skin of morbidly obese folks ain't cheese!!!!!

Sorry to go off topic, and if you can delete this and use for “personal” that is ok – this is just and fyi

I was flipping thru the channel on tv and caught the end of an alert on Nancy Grace. A black teen mother is missing from a bus stop and her 3 year old son was left behind. As far as I know, they are still looking for her..This aired about 6:55..

But, BREAKING NEWS jumped in – Jon and Kate and the missing money!! Right now it is 7.30 and the J&K story is still running!

I managed to get thru to the hotline and talk to an operator who wanted to know if I wanted to talk about J&K. I told her to tell Nancy to get back to the missing mother – I could care less about J&K!!

I was told that “oh we will get back to that story….later…” and hung up on!

I plan on going on her facebook account and voicing my displeasure there…I still can’t believe it..

Thanks for letting me vent…

Between the comments from the NFL commissioner and one of the owners I'd say Rush's chances of joining that club round down to zero.

MrR "Field and every other moonbat will follow Rush and his every word and move he makes.Just like they do now."

MrR, thanks for acknowledging the truth that Field and everybody else on this blog is denying. It is soooo obvious that if Rush is an owner of the Rams more people, esp. Field will be following not only the Rams but the NFL as well. That would be a shot in the arm for the Rams and NFL....They would be foolish not to give Rush a piece of the action.

Field knows this truth but he won't admit it. Why? Maybe because he is a race chaser and a lawyer?

@grinder: Rush WILL pay his black players more money and treat them better than any other racist team owner in the NFL. Remember, you heard it from me.

You admit there're NFL racist team owners!

Not all slaveholders treated their slaves badly, but that doesn't mean I'd opt to be a slave, any more than I'd opt to play for a racist.

I have to call bull, Fly. A grown person is one thing, but children are another. I'm not saying this because they're cute, but because there's no set rule about how they develop. The same child you're saying is going to be an obese loser can actually grow up to be a skinny bitter guy posting to a forum. But for real, some people grow up chubby and lose it, are skinny but pack on weight later because of shifting metabolisms due to genetics, or in the case of Dennis Rodman, just grow overnight. Unless there is a fool proof method of determining a person's health problems in the future, I think this is a load of crap being pushed by an office worker raising his own inactive brood.

Dr. Nuwang said...

Eddie, please quote me where I said this kind is going to be a loser.

No, that sounds like YOUR own prejudice against obese people referring to them as loosers, so I'm calling you out on YOUR BS.

Dr. Nuwang said...

We KNOW this kid is going to be a drain on the health care system for the rest of his life. So tax the hell out of his parents until he can obtain a normal BMI.

Speaking of BMI, that sounds like a very good start of where health care reform should begin. You pay more in health care taxes based on how far from your ideal BMI you/your children are.

And I promise you that as soon as such a idea starts to get some steam, I'm going to invest as much as I can in Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig weight loss programs!

Now I've heard all the complaints, what IDEAS does anyone have?

Your words. But for the record, I have nothing against obese folks because I could be considered one if not for the fact I lift weights. I mean, even at an acceptable bmi I weighed 290-300. So I'm not just the skinny guy at the back of the room trying to make the big folks feel bad. You on the other hand have basically said a baby will grow up...how does it go again? Be "so big he can't leave the house"

Tersi "You admit there're NFL racist team owners!"

Of course there are racist NFL owners.

"Not all slaveholders treated their slaves badly, but that doesn't mean I'd opt to be a slave, any more than I'd opt to play for a racist."

If you are working in the corporate world, you have opted to work for a racist institution. Why don't you quit your job in protest and become a model for those NFL players who are playing for a livelihood?

stop da press... i wanna know does anybody have access to the hospital medical records where bigBaby boy got delivered. Chances are the same insurance company that footed the OB bill is the same one that is denying coverage after he jumped outta the cabbage patch.... So,obviously, there must be some medical condition that was picked up on post natal testing that is currently a high cost medical problem as one ages that would make for this kind of scenario. We should not and do not know all the facts but being an obese "baba" maybe a smoke screen for a more costly medical condition over years. Medical privacy states that we should not know what that is but the real ethics question is the post natal screening of new borns for creating/profiling for potential economic insurance rating purposes.

After all, if big baba's doctor felt he was too big, i am sure everybody can come up with a jenny craig program or something for him to follow to ween him down a couple of notches on the scale.

FILLED NEGRO:

PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!!!

Please provide the EXACT SOURCE of these Rush Limbaugh comments.

Evil Racist Limbaugh DENIES EVER SAYING THEM.

He pointed to a book that was published in 2006 which contains these statements. The book CLAIMS that these words were said by Limbaugh back in 1998.

Racist Rush Limbaugh argued that with millions of people listening to him daily THERE IS NO WAY that he could say such a thing and the nation WOULD JUST NOW BE LEARNING ABOUT them.

Here is the irony about it all Filled Negro - you and other Progressive-Bigots always accuse FOX NEWS of propagating lies. Go take a look at the book "10 People Ruining America" (I believe that was the title) and note how there are NO REFERENCES in any of their claims.

This book which is the source of these claims that are spread by leftist MSNBC and it would not be accepted as a term paper turned in by a college journalism student.

Just because a claim appears multiple times on the Internet DOES NOT mean that it is true. It only means that multiple people have posted this one original lie on their individual web pages.

WHO IS THE FRAUD Filled Negro?

As a guy with a law degree I assume some level of intelligence within you. Thus my line of questioning.

If we move to a system where NO ONE IS DENIED and thus YOU HAVE A NEED - and the Redistributive Power of the Government FIXES that problem - Do you REALLY BELIEVE that you are going to be able to maintain such a system and maintain some level of quality?

Presently you and the other leftists are attacking the HEALTH CARE INSURANCE INDUSTRY.

If this entire industry makes $15 billion in PROFITS each year - YET the new debt spending from the GOVERNMENT is $90 billion per year - can you explain to me HOW do you LOGICALLY argue that the INSURANCE INDUSTRY is the key force that has been preventing HEALTH CARE COVERAGE IN AMERICA?

I struggle to understand people who HATE $15 billion in profits but would rather have their new insurance company be the government DESPITE it having a $1,400 BILLION deficit in one year AND which has a $12,000 billion debt.

Is there something special about progressivism that causes you all to avoid fiscal logic?

I struggle to understand what purpose the health insurance "industry" fulfills. This country spends damn close to twice what Canada does per person on medical care, but our outcomes are worse. The health insurance "industry" should be put out of business, and the drug companies and big hospital chains should be closely investigated and regulated.

Grinder,
If Americans acted more responsibly all we'd need is catastrophic coverage with a safety net for the truly destitute and the cost would be very manageable. But when we play the irresponsible victim card ad nausea blaming big business for all our ills the bureaucratic entitlements that follow will bankrupt our country and our health care as it has our values.

It's funny that when people start talking about who they hate most in the health care debate, Lawyers never seem to make the list.

Let's start with Tort reform and work from there.

We good people down in NC refuse to take responsibility for Stephen A Smith. He only went to school at Winston Salem State University. He is from Queens. He is one of those Northeast Negroes who thinks, 'if I say it louder, that makes me right' He's all yours. You can have him

trickster206 said...

Well, I'm from Queens too. While I don't watch NFL anything, I do believe in Smith's statement that if Rush did own a team, that there will be many black football players that will take his offer to play on the team. This is nothing new, we see those same blacks taking the rascist money in music (rap artists), actors and actresses acting stereotypically in Hollywood because massa is the producer, they're taking the racist money, so-called TV/Print journalists are also taking the money from racist massa too. Very very few will not take the money.

Hi,
I never, ever watch or listen to Fox tv; however I lived and worked in Rwanda for two years and I'm mystified as to why you refer to Fox as "Radio Rwanda". Rwanda today is not the same Rwanda as in 1994.
I hope you can find a new term to refer to Fox; I really don't think "Radio Rwanda" is appropriate.
Thank you!

The charity 'Raising Malawi' (PR firm) founded by Madonna AND TWO OTHERS over three years ago held fund raisers for over two years before finally getting registered as a non-profit. In other words, Madonna and the others were free to squander the lion's share of that funding any way they saw fit for those first two years. She also pleaded with her fans worldwide for donations along the way. In the meantime, she toured the world to promote her latest CD and raked in another $280,000,000 gross in just over 12 months. To date, the basic financial info for 'Rasing Malawi' still hasn't been posted on the website or anywhere else. The 'progress' page only tells of the collective works by over 20 seperate charities. Each of which have their own sources of funding and may have recieved some sort of promotion or support from 'Raising Malawi' in order to be considered 'partners'. But no indication is made how much of their funding came from 'Raising Malawi' or how much of their progress if any could be directly attributed to 'Raising Malawi'. The fans/donors have no clue how many millions of dollars were raised in that first two years, no clue how much Madonna herself chipped in, and no clue how the money was spent before they finally registered as a non-profit. No clue what fraction of funding or works listed on that 'progress' page could be directly attributed to 'Raising Malawi'. Nothing to go on but the vague word of Madonna. The vague and very misleading word of Madonna. For example: She states in her latest promotional video that she will match any contributions made to her charity (PR firm) "dollar for dollar". However, there is a disclaimer posted on the website for 'Raising Malawi' that Madonna's total contribution will not exceed $100,000. Thats not per donation. Thats a maximum of $100,000 TOTAL. Less than a single days pay for Madonna. Also much less then she will surely rake in by promoting her own CDs, DVDs, and 'for profit' merchandise through this massive worldwide publicity stunt. So I called the office of 'Raising Malawi' in an attempt to verify some sort of efficient financial operation (310) 867-2881 or (888) 72-DONOR). These details are ALWAYS made available by legitimate charities to their potential donors. But not in this case. I got nothing but recorded messages and hangups. So I did some research on my own. 'Rasing Malawi' still hasn't been given any kind of rating by ANY independent charity watchdog like Charitywatch.org. The vast overwhelming majority of 'celebrity' foundations never are. In general, they are inneficient and riddled with corruption. Like the promotion of CDs, world tours, commercial websites, entire lines of jewelry (not just the single piece from which proceeds are donated), and high end fashion retail flagship stores. Celebrity foundations are also notorious for squandering much of their funding on private jet rides and super high end accomodations for their managers, PR crews, and celebrity figure heads. Its legal even for a nonprofit but not noble or efficient by any stretch of the imagination. In general, 'celebrity' foundations are a twisted inefficient mutant of charity, self-promotion, exotic travel, and PR crap. Still, they compete for funding with more efficient legitimate charities who do more work with less money. The celebrity figure heads often disregard the primary donors, co-founders, and managers, take personal credit for any collective work done, and seek maximum publicity shortly before or after the release of their own commercial projects. Its a sham. So if its not rated, then don't support it. Instead, support a top rated charity like any of those given high ratings at Charitywatch.org.
