Tales from the Confederacy.

I love Louisiana, I really do, but lately the folks down in "The Boot" have been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

You Negroes have lost your natural minds since the bi-racial Kenyan got elected to the highest office in the land. Cutting in front of white folks in Wal- Mart? You Negroes must be crazy. And then, when the woman called you a "nigger", (which I guess was cool pre-Obama) you had the nerve to attack her. Is it any wonder that the poor woman, Sharon Hodges, reacted the way that she did:

"..The affidavit said witnesses heard Hodges yell a racial epithet at the woman and say, "You will respect your elders, especially since I'm white." The woman's daughter admitted to lunging at Hodges after she used a racial epithet. While the daughter was being restrained, witnesses observed Hodges spit in the woman's face, according to the affidavit."

Well, at least they arrested Ms. Hodges. Now that's change we can believe in.

Oh wait, before I go and watch my Phillies I have to blog about one more story. It's about my republican friends again. I tell you with these republicans it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

"Two South Carolina GOP chairmen declared in a letter to a local newspaper that criticism of Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) is unfair because he is like a "Jew" who is "watching our nation's pennies."

The letter, published by South Carolina newspaper The Times and Democrat, was authored by James S. Ulmer Jr., who chairs the Orangeburg County GOP, and Edwin O. Merwin Jr., who chairs the Bamberg County GOP.

"There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves," the wrote. "By not using earmarks to fund projects for South Carolina and instead using actual bills, DeMint is watching our nation’s pennies and trying to preserve our country’s wealth and our economy’s viability to give all an opportunity to succeed."'

And they wrote this in a local newspaper? Okaaaay. And folks wonder why the South will never rise again.
I'm out. Go Phillies!

grinder,

"In absolute terms, there are more poor whites in America than poor blacks. Yet, in 2005, there were (apparently) zero rapes of blacks by whites in single-attacker rapes, and zero robbiers of blacks by whites in multiple-attacker robberies.

What explains that?"

It's not real complicated racist.

Violent crime throughout the world tends to be committed by poor, young uneducated urban males.

White poverty in America today is primarily rural.

If you had any honesty in you at all, you could check the historical crime files of, let's say, NYC and find that in the early part of the 20th century when white Southern Eastern European immigrants were the urban poor, their sons were the street criminals.

Today the urban poor in America is primarily black and brown.

You keep making my points.

Why do people deal drugs? Fast money.

"Moreover, "scraps" are not the objective. No matter how poor the neighborhood, most consumer items "are found in abundance"

Is money in abundance?

"More than any other factor, a school is a function of the students. As I gather you know, kids bring every social pathology of their neighborhoods to class."

Social pathology brought about by environment and lack of good role models.

". As I have seen, even the most heartfelt and sincere teachers are incapable of undoing the damage that is inflicted on way too many kids by all the forces touching them outside school. School is too often the oasis."

Why would teachers be able to undo any damage these children have acquired years before they even stepped into a classroom? Children learn their first lessons before they even walk into a classroom.

"When the socioeconomic status goes up, the gap closes considerably, especially among black females."

In other words, black males still fail to get the message.

Or, males in general are more likely to drop out of school and get into trouble. (this is across the board) Check out the drop out rates between males and females. Must be the testosterone.

"That may be true -- if you apply the same definition of the black middle class that defines the white middle class. But, by doing that, the black middle class is a much smaller percentage of the total black population than compared with the white middle class."

BINGO! Now you're getting it. There are more middle class whites than middle class blacks. This is exactly what I've been saying all along. The explanation isn't just race, it's socioeconomic class.

"Meanwhile, you have presented yourself as living proof that following a few common-sense guidelines makes a huge difference in the lives of families. Of course you had no control over your parents' success. But somewhere along the line a successful system of values took hold. It was not magic."

Yes, by pure chance I lucked out and was able have parents who were educated and affluent. And I doubt it was just "a few common sense guidelines". My parents were with us every step of the way. Too bad a lot of these kids don't have that type of upbringing.

When kids don't have proper guidance they don't do well, this is also across the board. I had a white student who could barely speak English because he spent more time with his Nanny than his parents. He also had a really bad discipline problem. He was one angry little boy. I guess it was his fault his parents didn't give him the time of day.

"Since money alone will improve nothing, what do you suggest?"

These kids need good role models and parental guidance. What do you suggest? How much time did you spend in these classrooms and how much time did you spend with their parents. I've been teaching "at risk" kids for nine years and I can tell you like most teachers would tell you, it's the parents, not the kids.

"By the way, I live in Brooklyn and have my own connections to the public schools in many parts of the borough."

What do you do in these public schools?

"More than any other factor, a school is a function of the students. As I gather you know, kids bring every social pathology of their neighborhoods to class."

Social pathology brought about by their environment and the people around them.
Look up social learning theory by Albert Bandura.

"That may be true -- if you apply the same definition of the black middle class that defines the white middle class. But, by doing that, the black middle class is a much smaller percentage of the total black population than compared with the white middle class."

BINGO!!! Now you're getting it. Like I've been saying, the problem isn't just about race, it's about socioeconomic class. There are more blacks in the lower socioeconomic class than the middle class.

"Meanwhile, you have presented yourself as living proof that following a few common-sense guidelines makes a huge difference in the lives of families. Of course you had no control over your parents' success. But somewhere along the line a successful system of values took hold. It was not magic."

Exactly, these kids have no more control over their parent's success or lack of success than I did. I got the luck of the draw. My parents were educated, affluent and remained married. Also I doubt it was "a few common sense guidelines". They were there every step of the way. They were very much involved in our lives. No matter what race or socioeconomic background children are a part of, parental involvement is very important. I had a white student who could barely speak English because he spent more time with his Nanny than his parents. They were too focused on themselves and their careers to give this kid the time of day. As a result he was a very angry little boy with horrible conduct. There was no way an of his teachers could counter act 9 years of neglect in 9 months of school.

"Not exactly. As I mentioned, schools reflect the students in the classes. As I have seen, even the most heartfelt and sincere teachers are incapable of undoing the damage that is inflicted on way too many kids by all the forces touching them outside school. School is too often the oasis."

Again, why do you expect teachers to be able to undo damage inflicted upon these children before they even entered a classroom? Really give Bandura a good looking over.

"As someone who has spent time in some Brooklyn classrooms, I can tell you that one of the most distressing realities is witnessing the grotesque levels of contempt students pile on each other. Vicious verbal assaults that are part of the dialy grind."

How much time did you spend with the children and more importantly how much time did you spend with the parents? Most teachers will tell you "It's not the kids, it's the parents."

"Since money alone will improve nothing, what do you suggest?"

More role models to come in on a daily basis to try to be a good influence on them. Teachers only see them for a year. They need more consistency. It's really easy to dismiss these children as "thugs" and "hopeless", but it takes real guts and dedication to treat them like human beings.

My mother is 5'0" tall wearing shoes and she taught at the worst middle school in the city. Those children never gave her any problems and the few who did were taken care of by the other children. Why? Because she didn't treat them like trash. She treated them like human beings. To this day she has former students still looking her up and telling her that she was their favorite teacher.

What do you suggest?

uptown steve, you wrote:

"Prove this racist."

and:

"The black middle class is the majority of the black community."

and:

"The poverty rate for blacks is 22%"

Today's accepted number for black poverty is 25%. However, knowing only that much, you should, if you understood a little about numbers, realize my original statement about the black middle class is correct.

"Today's accepted number for black poverty is 25%"

Accepted by whom?

"However, knowing only that much, you should, if you understood a little about numbers, realize my original statement about the black middle class is correct."

Oh stop it racist.

You were trying to portray the black community as predominately poor, criminal and dysfunctional until I called you on it.

uptownsteve,

Jayson Williams is well known for homicide, as is Rae Carruth.

OJ is good for quadruple bonus points since he was both an athlete and a celebrity.

He further increased his point value by viciously murdering two people -- one his ex-wife, giving him credit for a pre-existing victim/killer relationship -- the other being Ron Goldman, who was probably a stranger to OJ, thereby giving OJ extra credit in that category, though no doubt Goldman knew OJ's identity.

Then there's the problem of black athletes becoming murder victims. Like Steve McNair and the football player who was shot in his Florida home a year or two ago. And the UCONN football player who was knifed to death a few days ago.

A nude negro law will lower the crime rate in warmer climates and during the high crime summer months in the rest of the country. Its the only way. Blacks will benefit by having safer neighborhoods and looking after their health more and staying in shape. It's a win/win situation.

There are 40 million black people in this country and the criminal element wouldn't even comprise 5%.

From God's lips to your ears, or do you have any statistical support for your claim? And what is the definition of "criminal element?"

hey cocksucker ; you got something against nude negroes?

The majority of b on b rapes that are never in statistics are incest and juvenile rapes by family members and friends where the girl can never report what happened, and the rule of no snitch is the social law. That is why there is not a many reported b on b rapes reported..the community accepts it as the community norm. The community has no value in women and children. Just in drugs, fights, theft, murder, rape, with no value for education, respect for one another citizens, decorum...just a pretend nation of immature and irresponsible children acting bad and daring the authorities to take them to task, and when caught, lying and depending on liberal justice systems to make them the victim.
The race has no self discipline nor self respect.

Anon 9:55, rape is underreported across racial lines. If you think that every white date rape is reported to the police, please let me know what drugs you are on and how I can get some of them, because it must be some damn good shit.
