Mr. Black wingnut, I think I know why the Gays won't debate you in public.

Because you use words like "Publically."
Because you wear short sleeve dress shirts.

Because your jeans looks like you got them from K-Mart.

Because, maybe like me, they don't trust a man who doesn't wear a watch.

Because you have on a crew neck undershirt with a collared shirt.

Because you are big black man carrying a sign that displays your ignorance in public.

And finally, because I am sure that they think it would be pointless.

And one more thing: As we approach the 15th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombings, I see Bill Clinton has weighed in on the debate about domestic terror, and he has called out the wingnuts for promoting hate in a very large echo chamber which could lead to a repeat of that tragic day.

The following is from the ABC News website:

"In my EXCLUSIVE “This Week” interview, former President Bill Clinton told me Rush Limbaugh’s assertion that Clinton had “set the stage for violence in this country” and that “any acts of future violence” would be on Clinton’s shoulders, “doesn’t make any sense”.
Clinton marked the upcoming 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing on Friday with a major speech to the Center for American Progress, in which he warned that “the words we use really do matter, because there's this vast echo chamber, and they go across space and they fall on the serious and the delirious alike. They fall on the connected and the unhinged alike.”

Conservative talk-radio host
Rush Limbaugh took to the air, Friday, after the speech and said that Clinton’s remarks, which drew parallels between the anti-government sentiment in the mid-90s and present-day anti-government expressions, “just gave the kooks out there an excuse to be violent.”

Responding directly to Limbaugh, Clinton told me, “The only point I tried to make was that we ought to have a lot of political dissent -- a lot of political argument. Nobody is right all the time. But we also have to take responsibility for the possible consequences of what we say." [Story]

Sorry Bubba, the last thing a wingnut will do is take responsibility for his or her actions.
BTW, before anyone accuses me of being a hypocrite. Let me say for the record that those teachers in New Jersey who made threats against the republican governor of that state need to be called out as well. Hate speech on both sides of the political spectrum is wrong. Period.

The SPLC has some interesting posts on their blog regarding April 19. No one can act surprised if these militia nutters act out. They call themselves "patriots". Maybe it is time to call a spade a spade and start calling them "hate-riots".

George you kid, right? Surely you don't think I equate being a slob with how much money one has- or doesn't have-. A short sleeve dress shirt would be wrong if it was Bill Gates. (Who, BTW, I have seen in one.)It's just....well, repulsive. And it is a total violation.

And hey, he put himself out there. Clearly he wanted to be seen, so it's open season on his black ass for bloggers.

BTW, I loved that phrase: "expensive acoutrements of bourgeois society." Nice. :)

The man holding the sign also has an apostrophe in "Gay's." This, too, is just plain wrong. An apostrophe indicates "it is" or "it has." Neither of these rules fit his sign, of course. He only needed an "s" to indicate the plural form of the noun "gays." There are other things wrong with that sign, but it's simply too much to point out here. I happen to agree with the Field that if the man put himself out there like this, then it is expected that he will get called out on the error of his sign, er, ways. Pun intended.

I haven't worn a watch since 19hundred whatever. Too many things have a chronometer on them to even bother. Plus it's a type of enslavement to "the machine".

Anyway, I'm going to take the observations of a Rhode's Scholar over some "self-made" pundits any time.

And as for anyone questioning "teh gays" and their contention toward them:

Note to heterosexuals:

1) Stop assuming the myth of compulsory heterosexuality...right now. It's embarassing.

2) No homosexual owes you an explanation for, or disclosure of, anything ever.

3) Lack of disclosure in no way means a person is "Gay" but closeted. A person could be "openly" or avowedly "Gay" but have no intention of discussing it with YOU.

4) Admit the fear and anxiety that undisclosed sexual orientation makes you feel.

5) Face that fear and anxiety ALONE. Stop expecting "The Gays" to indulge your very creepy need-to-know.

6) Stop professing you’re "fine with The Gays".

7) Stop forcing homosexuals to tolerate your "tolerance".

8) Stop generalizing from personal experience (i.e. "I like Gays so all straight people are cool and homophobic bigotry is a myth!").

My dear friend Jody - let's think about the logic of the sign.

"Gays Won't Debate Me Publicly Why?"

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN Jody?

Is he asking homosexuals to justify their sexual preference to him?
Is his debating them on this point going to get him to change?

Do we know from this sign what basis he is arguing from? Religious, Physiological or an argument based on "Pure Secular-based Procreation and societal order"?

Jody - if that were me I would not make use of such a tactic to get my point across.

Instead of ME trying to CONVINCE anyone of my views and the error in their own I instead work doggedly to get people to OWN UP TO the "Standard Of Living" that they desire and the SOCIAL ORDER that is necessary to bring this forth.

Jody - you mischaracterize me more than you will ever know. I really don't care what two (or more) consenting adults choose to do with each other. I could care less - as long as whatever choices that they make today doesn't later create a situation in which I AM condemned for being uncaring - after THEY told me to "mind my damned business and stay out of their bedroom".

Isn't it interesting Jody that when we talk about BANKS or evil CORPORATIONS - some of them have shown that when left UNREGULATED they do things that cause them to later need PUBLIC AIDE to get them out of a ditch and thus high minded people call for their regulation BEFOREHAND since they render great impact upon us later on when left to their own devices.

Yet when we take this same model and attempt to apply it to other areas of our society - REGULATION and CONTROL is merely left to the forces who are OUR RESPECTIVE ENEMIES yet a violation of the LIBERTY of our FRIENDS. Isn't that right Jody?

Isn't CULTURAL NORMS merely a form of REGULATION Jody?

I do not wear either because I carry a cell phone and it has a clock, but I could make a cool watch for myself. I do not get the sign because the person who is carrying it does not know what he is talking about. What does he want to debate with a gay person about? I want to know what his concerns are and that sign does not tell me anything other than the fact he is some sort of a homophobic individual. That does borders along hatred, and it is protected speech, but there is nothing wrong with calling the person out on it either.

There was an article printed in this past Friday's NY Times that the tea party people are more educated and wealthier than originally believed, however, that does not mean that they are informed citizens because if you ask an individual protesting at a tea party rally, it is then he or she begins to think that they do not want medicare and social security to end because these people in the tea party tend to be older people. They also do not understand that their taxes were also lowered during the Obama administration. They want smaller government which is not possible due to the fact that we are talking about over 300 million living in this country to govern. Large amount people requires large government. The question should be how to do run a more effective and efficient government. How do better manage? We should be asking for improvement, not why a gay person will not debate with me which is useless.

I think the Tea Parties have different constituencies in different areas. They are not really coordinated or know how to organize, such that their message is cohesive. I think that they think if they really organize they will not be seen as grass roots. They also think that the Civil Rights, feminist and anti-war protest were adhoc events, since very few of the Tea partiers are old enough or were a part of those groups.

All complain that they are being infiltrated by the left. I think only in a few instances is this true, but from now on all signs like this guy's and racist signs are going to be attributed to the left.

They also don't think that their view of Sarah Palin isn't misogynistic, only the left's criticism is.

Why is it that the same people who RESENT when "protected classes" are referred to as DUMB - make frequent use of this same tactic against their own enemies? You are supposed to be BETTER than the "evil haters" that you stand against. No?
because if you ask an individual protesting at a tea party rally, it is then he or she begins to think that they do not want medicare and social security to end because these people in the tea party tend to be older people.
Henna - fear not.
In my estimation - in the future there will not be an IDEOLOGICALLY BASED MOVEMENT that ultimately defines the fate of our social entitlements. The MASSIVE FEDERAL DEBT is going force the hands of the leaders left standing.

Recall when union workers from General Motors ended up accepting wages that were akin to the levels they long rejected as comparable to Toyota's US domestic workers.

There were smiles of VICTORY upon the "last contract" signed with GM. Unfortunately the bankruptcy of the benefactor showed that this contract "legislation" was only as good as the fiscal standing of the party doling out the goods. I see our present struggle in the same light.

The RIGHT to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or Universal Health Care is only as good as the financial underpinnings upon which they stand.
They also do not understand that their taxes were also lowered during the Obama administration.
Henna - I get the sense that if you were alive in France several centuries ago you'd be saying "LET THEM EAT CAKE!!!!!".

At a time when our nation's deficit spending is slated to be $1,540 billion in the hole after just finishing a year where it was $1,400 billion (a DEFICIT amount that is larger than the total budget of 1995) - "THANKFULNESS" and appreciation is the last thing that you and Obama should be looking for.
They want smaller government which is not possible due to the fact that we are talking about over 300 million living in this country to govern. Large amount people requires large government. The question should be how to do run a more effective and efficient government. How do better manage?
Henna - What you hear as "smaller government" is more accurately called LOCAL GOVERNANCE. By loading up the CENTRAL GOVERNMENT with the burden of the masses, IRONICALLY those who tend to "The Least Of These" will place them in peril.

You see Henna - all the while that you were articulating the ENTITLEMENT RIGHTS of these people you failed to develop COMPETENCIES within them so that they might go fly fishing. You are creating a "TOO BIG TO FAIL CENTRAL GOVERNMENT".

What is the fear of distributing the MANAGEMENT TO THE PERIPHERY? In my view it shows a fundamental lack of confidence in the masses. Inferiorization of them, if you will.

I must ask: WHY DID THE PROGRESSIVES TAKE OVER OUR LOCAL SCHOOL SYSTEMS if, as evidence shows, it was about POWER, rather than developing capabilities among the masses.

WHERE are the DOCTORS from these institutions?

WHERE is the increased ability to generate FUNDS?

WHERE are the new economic theories (micro-lending/farming) as a means of starving out evil corporations that give us food grown in Chile or manufactured in China?

Henna - it is your own EXTERNAL PERMANENT STRUGGLE that has imperiled you. More POWER than ever before but less ability to leverage it for the actual benefit of the masses who you have lead along with your "boil the ocean" theories.
We should be asking for improvement, not why a gay person will not debate with me which is useless.

Explain to me how my being gay and having the SAME rights and responsibilities as you in ANY way threatens your security, your pursuit of happiness, your economic capacity, your marriage, etc....

Why do you call me a ONE TRICK PONY Jody? It appears that you fit that part.

As for me I choose to look at the society holistically. Every society has the mandate to define and enforce a set of behaviors for their people that allows them to maximize the civility, productivity and distribution of justice among the humans that live in relation to each other within the system in question.

Most certainly GENDER ROLES and the implicit function that can be apprised from the intrinsic function of our physiological differences play a fundamental part in the ordering of our society.

What is interesting to me is that you and others are far more able to demand increased TOLERANCE from an existing order than you are able to SYNERGIZE ORDER in societies that start from the point of DISORDER.

Jody - isn't ANARCHY, DISORDER and SAVAGERY the ultimate instance of "Doing Your Own Thing"?

There is NO DISCRIMINATION because there is no judgment. Jody do you think that your rights as a female - REGARDLESS of your orientation is assured in this state of non-judgmental anarchy?

Jody and Henna - have you ever seen a 'CONTENTED PROGRESSIVE'? With the last victory over tradition WON - you struggle no more?

It seems to me that those who seek to enforce a JUDEO-CHRISTIAN CIVILITY by noting that it has worked for more than 2 millennia
are not the hate-filled bigots. Instead those who wish to ATTACK this sound foundation for the advancement of their special interest are more like the one woman in the biblical story by which the new born child was offered to be cut in half so that each of the two women could be given what they want in equal portion - UNFORTUNATELY KILLING THE CHILD.

Jody is the meaning of this fable
discredited because it comes from the bible?

Why haven't you lashed out at my friend Mellaneous as he calls others to help the LEAST OF THESE? Isn't this a religious based pronouncement? For some reason such calls don't bother you when they are in line with your agenda.

Far bet it from me to make note of our human form; distinguishing between reproductive organs from features of the digestive system and then making an inference from this information. An inference that runs awry of what you WANT me to see with my own eyes.

Jody - a SECULAR NATION is not above:

* Physiological truth
* Economic truth
* Environmental truth
* Societal truth

If you were honest you would note that ALL NATIONS have to make a CHOICE on how to order themselves!!!!!
YOU merely desire that RELIGIOUS DOGMA not be the force by which the leaders of the nation base their theories.

Since Judeo-Chrisitan theory has such a proven track record - Jody - please tell me what foundation YOU would prefer instead?

The feeble school of thought known as "Secular Progressivism"?

What does a school of thought that believes that humans are a series of evolutionary accidents ground itself upon in the governance of US - a mass of tissue that is in the form of humans?
This country does not have a national religion. This country clearly states separation of church and state.
In as much as Secular Progressivism functions as a RELIGION - you would be wise to accept your own council.

I use sexual attraction as an example because as it pertains to one's personal business, and I simply do not have control over what a person does. The only thing we have control over as a society is when someone does something illegal such as murder. In reality, we cannot do whatever we want a variety reasons. Another reason for choosing sexual attraction because there is paradox in how we think about sexuality as it is a $10 billion sex industry in this country and yet we behave like prudes. If you are a swinger or in BDSM, then it is none of my business. Who I am judge how you get off sexually?

In addition, we have laws on the books so that anarchy does not erupt, and if it should, well the person or persons will up like Timothy McVeigh. Constructive, I think it is covered.

Exactly.

As for your analogy of your bible story.... funny, I always thought that the story was the women were fighting over whose child it was... and the wise king said, the solution was to cut it in half. But one of the mothers said No! and the king was then able to see who was the true mother... the one who would give the child away if only for the child to live, thus showing her unconditional love for the child.

I always thought that story was about unconditional love... you know, the kind I would expect you to show me as your sister in christ.

CF don't you ever read? The history of Christianity over the last two millenium is nothing to brag about it. In fact Christians have played the role of holding folks while the European imperialists ran in and ran roughshod over folks and their property and their wealth.

Mellaneous - Is "Judeo-Christian" ethics the same as CHRISTIANITY?

Some of the biggest DEVILS that we have living with us today - who call themselves "Christians" yet haven't set foot in a church since their MOMMA forced them to do so 10 years ago when she brought her son some new "Easter Gear" LIVE under the "Judeo-Christian" ethic that is popular in society today.

WHY, Melleneous do you conflate this into that of CHRISTIANITY?

Do the actions of those who molested others for hundreds of years while claiming to be CHRISTIANS alter the basic truths of CHRISTIANITY Mellaneous?

With religion as with this Nation (the belly of the beast) - the difference between you and I Mellenous is that YOU render indictments based upon the MEN who abused the institutions upon which both systems were build upon condemning all of it in total.

I have an understanding of the HUMAN FRAILTY and CORRUPTION and see the importance of having INSTITUTIONS two which all flawed human beings seek to LIVE UP TO. I realize that individual humans are flawed and self-serving. The INSTITUTION needs to enforce its standards upon the people.

Mellenous is like a "Yoda" character. An old man on the mountain. He treats us to the benefit of his wisdom every so often when he shouts down from his MOUNTAIN to us underlings as he proclaims his "moral superiority" upon which he stands.

One story - MANY MESSAGES.

I saw this as a story of SACRIFICE.

When there was COMPETING INTERESTS - both women having claimed ownership of the infant - the one who was the real mother chose to YIELD her claim so that the being that she birthed into the world would not be DESTROYED as she and the other woman pursued their SELFISH interests.

Jody there are certain societal mandates that are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE. They can't exist in the same time and space.

That same "molested" bible also gives us guidance about male/female relationships. The husband is to lead the wife. The husband is to be lead by GOD. In this cascading sacrifice ORDER and "progression" is had in a society.

Jody - have I shown contempt for you? Have I ever disrespected you on this board? (Sarcasm doesn't count).

Who says that my "Christian love" for you is a condition of ME dropping what I know about societal order so that I accept your sexual preferences - seeing it as no different than a heterosexual relationship?

Am I the one who will throw a brick through your window?

Am I the one who will call for your arrest?

At some point we can agree to disagree without YOU claiming that I am intolerant for having the sin of disagreeing with you.

Sorry Bennett I Ain't In It - your claims don't fly:

Among the 50 states and the District of Columbia, Vermont ranks:

2nd highest proportion of Whites
41st highest proportion of Asians
49th highest proportion of Hispanics
48th highest proportion of Blacks

Keith Olbermann should be having a fit - if he were a fail man:

Vermont Demographics

White: 98.12%
Black: 0.76%
American Indian: 1.05%
Asian: 1.09%
Pacific Islander: 0.05%

You don't get to see too many "brothers" on a daily basis - do you Bennett?

CF when you say things like this it exposes you. It tells me that you understand perfectly that black folks and other suffer from institutional discrimination.

You know that racism exists. You also know that the majority of your so-called street p's have been created by the inequities of the system. Yet you go on and on about them, as if they were born that way and as if they are the primary reason for the suffering in the Third World or that their criminality compares to the criminality of the capitalist.

And you act as if these young people kill one another for no reason at all. They just committ these violent acts out of the sky blue. Believe it or not they too are victims of a system that sets up ghettos. Ghettos which we have come to accept BTW as if its a normal functioning of human life.

Since you know that institutions and people are flawed and you proclaim to at least know the Bible, then you should be in favor of systems or ideas which give God's creation the best opportunity to flourish.

And from all the information in so far, capitalism doesn't seem to be able to do this. Of course you and my liberal freinds do have that in common. You cheerlead it, while they hope and hope and hope that it can be reformed.

BTW I like the YODA inference I like that tag minus the self-righteous thing. But it was a good try. It doesn't sound like you are you getting help (lol).

And you still don't care!

UnConn... yes, you can disagree with me, you can even hate me... but don't make laws to deny me equal rights.

GrannyStandingforTruth said...

I'm gonna say this and I am signing offline.

I do not understand what is so hard about treating all human beings the same and letting them enjoy the same rights that those who think it is their God-given right to deny whomever they feel is different from them their rights as a human being. We all live on this planet earth together, and whether we like it or not, we are all connected just like the pieces of a puzzle.

It is not for us to play judge and jury over any human being. That's not our job. Our job is to treat our fellow-human beings the way we want to be treated and to build each other up instead of tearing one another down. The biggest problem and flaw that we as humans have is we haven't learned our lesson in loving people unconditionally.

Funny, how human beings can love money unconditionally and it is nothing but a piece of paper, but make loving those who have blood flowing through their veins like we do the hardest task for all of humanity to accomplish. We fight with one another, we kill one another, we do all sorts of bad things to one another with ease, but when it comes to loving one another, we fail.

I sometimes honestly believe that when the world ends, it will be because we destroyed each other. In addition, I believe that what holds this planet together is love and what destroys it is hate.

Hah! I have more black inlaws than the tea party has ever had at all of their rallies combined. Dozens more in Senegal that I've yet to meet.

We never had slavery here in Vermont, thus the low black population. Anyone is free to move here, it just takes a hardy disposition to deal with the winters.

Despite our melanin challenged population, we voted for Obama in higher numbers (76%) than any state other than Hawaii.

Although racism exists here (as everywhere) no one is getting beat up or killed over the color of their skin, and we've never had . We have welcomed enough refugees from Sudan, Somalia, Congo, and Liberia that our major cities are finally looking a bit more cosmopolitan.

Of my 10 closest neighbors, 2 are black families.

Of course, Montreal is 45 minutes away from my home, check the demographics of that if it turns your crank.

But what's your point?

If I don't live in a big city I don't get to have opinions on ethnic relations? I grew up in East Oakland, so your attempt to "paint me" with some kind of segregationist brush just won't fly.

Take your assumptions elsewhere, they don't fit me.

Mellaneous - here is where you are totally clueless about me.

YOU ASSUMED that I am in denial of RACISM. At the same time its mere PRESENCE is enough for you to render a total indictment.

On the one hand I ask that you show me a point where racial "one-ups-manship" will NEVER be present. In addition I challenge you to make a MODEL of the real world that properly assigns the negative force of RACISM in context with the OTHER FORCES that bear down upon Benton Harbor or Trenton NJ.

For you in particular Mellaneous - you don't want your own theories to be put on trail for them to be evaluated for their effect. Any particular radical or revolutionary tendencies that you introduce into the public discourse need only be considered for their INTENDED good. Yet if someone has the audacity to DISAGREE with you and then further insults you by MOVING AWAY from you and the conflict over RESOURCES. Despite the fact that they left you ALL ALONE to run your community as you see fit - you can't get past the perceived slight. You can't see the OPPORTUNITY that you have to run Benton Harbor and Trenton as you see fit.

Some of what you believe is WHITE SUPREMACIST in my view Mellaneous. (Non-White White Supremacy to be exact). It is frustrating to me to listen to a person who is responsible for assembling the ESTABLISHMENT POWER to point to HISTORY as the key negative force upon a 20 year old Black male to-damned-day.

Despite having control over the people who educate, inculcate, and entertain the people you grieve about the most this amorphous external force is said to be the most prevailing negative force of suppression which leads to this dysfunction.

Mellaneous - at what point do you open yourself up to a TRANSPARENT INSPECTION of what you advocate for? If this leads to a more accurate model for the attainment of your community interests - why is this a bad thing?

You also know that the majority of your so-called street p's have been created by the inequities of the system.
