Always remember that the country did not for this. Minority vote suppression, Russian-planted fake news stories, the Electoral College skewing the balance of power in favor of underpopulated, rural states -- take away any one of those factors, and Trump would not have "won". Even as it is, he got almost three million fewer actual votes than Hillary.
There's more of us than there is of the bad guys. Trump is taking office as the least-popular President-elect in decades. Mass protest can block much of the minority regime's agenda -- the outcry over the Office of Congressional Ethics showed what determined action can do -- and in four years at the most, we'll start getting the country back on track again.
This just proves conclusively conservatives/Republicans aren't serious.

His boasts of getting healthcare for all and bringing back good jobs will force him to actually make moves to such ends and we all know gop policies won't do anything for either. PX: Maybe. I've been saying that Ryan and McConnell scare me more than Trump, and Trump is already making jokes about how much work Ryan has to do so he can sign it, so I'm not optimistic there now.

Yeah, unfortunately, I do think it's wishful thinking.
The chances of Dems recapturing the Congress at the next election aren't good. Republicans have rigged the House with gerrymandered districts, so that's an incredible uphill slog. And take a look at who's up for election in the Senate next midterm. It's mostly Democrats and a few Republicans in fire-engine red states that are a lock; very few opportunities to pick up seats. There was a chance for the Dems to flip the Senate this last election, but it didn't quite materialize.
The only way I see Congress turning over is if our new malevolent clown president manages to absolutely wreck the country in record time, such that voters turn out to punish his party. Which could realistically happen, but it's not exactly something I'm hoping for.
As of now, the constraints on presidential idiocy are pretty weak. Congressional Republicans are too busy enacting cash giveaways to rich people and corporations and ripping away the healthcare of 30 million people. Oh, and previously unthinkable moves like selling off national park land. Meanwhile, our national news media is pretty spineless, as shown in that press conference where the press pool let President Troompa-Loompa get away with abusing CNN and did nothing.
Things look grim for the functionality of the federal government.
The Dems might be better off concentrating their efforts on rebuilding at state government levels, where they've really blown it in recent years.
Since it's Trump Inauguration Day, I guess it's time for this highly cynical quote again (it'll still be time for this quote, over and over again, for the next four-to-eight years, presumably):

It's possible that Trump's malfeasance could overcome the gerrymander in '18, but only that.
Trump has made a big gamble by openly playing to the slobbering hordes who prop up the Republican base, instead of playing footsie with them in weasel-words to get their votes like the Republican playbook suggests.
We told them it was a bad idea to fill their party up with them, but they wouldn't listen to traitorous, fifth-columnist, surrender-monkey liberals like us, I guess because they hate it when we are right.
Now that the tiger has been mounted, he can't do anything but ride, and that won't be easy because the tiger is very stupid, and the very credulousness that got them to believe his bullshit can easily turn to rage and spite when his promises turn out to be the massive buggering that all of us icky liberals tried so annoyingly hard to warn them about.
The reason that Republicans generally avoid the full on "populist" approach to their base (it's not really populism, but save that for another rant) is that their leaders aren't really into helping the rank and file meatheads in their base, just using them to win elections.
Their trickle-down-from-the-billionaires policies don't actually trickle anything useful to WWC voters, so they have to distract them with shiny things they don't actually care about and make them seem important e.g. gay marriage in 2004 to distract from the imploding Iraq war, when they couldn't care about gay marriage at gunpoint.
The difference this time is that unlike gay marriage, which won't ever affect the lives of the meatheads in their base, the destruction of the ACA, the privatization of Medicare, and the block-granting of Medicaid, along with the criminalization of abortion, the degradation of the air and water, and the wholesale looting of everything the US government does to help US citizens will make their lives measurably, unignorably harder and worse.
Coal and manufacturing jobs will not magically reappear, and in fact the ACA repeal will cost 2.5 to 3 million jobs (according to Forbes) many of which will disappear from the rural areas where Trump's support is the strongest now. Like my home town where St. Joseph Hospital is the largest employer (though they don't support Trump.)
Couple that with the gains the millionaires and billionaires will enjoy from the tax cuts that their lives have been damaged in the service of and even Republicans might get angry enough to ignore Rush and Fox for a minute, if only that.
While I still feel that it's a stretch to hope the Republican base magically grows thumbs and climbs down out of the stupid tree, and there will no doubt be a hue and cry that it's all somehow Obama's fault (just like they blamed all of W's fuck ups on Bill Clinton right up until November of 2008) there's still a chance to capitalize on the backlash, even if the only help we get is them staying home out of personal disgust.
So it will be a struggle, but really, it always has been, and very few things worth having come without one, so we should get ready for it because it's here.

The way the statistics are calculated is simply different than it's been in "43 years," that's all. Thanks to Obama, now even more people who can't find a job in X number of months aren't counted as people at all. People out of the workforce and on hard times aren't counted as people, and therefore government is able to cook numbers to say that only X number of people are unemployed.

Imagine what it's like looking at your mother (and father, if present) and not being able to see yourself. Being utterly disconnected from the most basic concept of "family". That's what mixed children have to do, which is grossly abnormal in human history.

This is seriously a level of stupidity I've ever only seen from black progressives. I'm not saying that there aren't some white people out there who believe two Floridian rabbits can give birth to an Alaskan hare, it's just I've never met one that stupid. Even creationist Christians, in their monumental stupidity, know that a kind can only give birth to its kind. But some black folks, especially the melanin theorists, seem to believe that "black" is the god particle and two blacks can give birth to a Caucasoid child. They believe black people are the "original" people and thus contain every phenotype (because they don't know WTF a phenotype is). It's hilarious.

Haplogroups and other genetic markers, not to mention observable taxonomic differences, separate the races by so much that the fact we can even interbreed is something scientists struggle to understand fully. That's how different Negroids and Caucasoids are from one another. A medicine you give a white person to fight illness can kill a black, and vice versa. Gestation periods differ. Olfactory and ocular responses differ. We have different immune systems. Different bone and muscle densities. Different average heights and weights. Different hair follicles. Different levels of melanin receptor activation. Different vitamin levels. Different hormonal levels. Different digestive systems. Different brain sizes. Different vocal structures. Different problem-solving capabilities inherent to ethnicity. Different pain thresholds. Different lung capacities. Different tendon and ligament structures. Different cardiovascular systems. Different blood responses.
