Age is more than just a number for one candidate but not the other.

Joe Biden is old, and he looks and acts his age.  There is no getting around that fact. Americans believe it, and so, I am sure, does his handlers. He jumbles his words at times, and his memory is not what it should be. Donald trump is also old. And contrary to what MAGA world believes (and his gold mirror tells him) he looks and acts his age as well. Maybe even more so than Joe Biden. But, the American media being what it is, a narrative must be spun, and that narrative is that Joe Biden is the older, less capable, and more senile of the two men.

The thing is, though, no matter how old and senile Joe Biden is, we know that his head and heart is in the right place when it comes to what's best for America. We can look back on the past three years of his administration and marvel at their accomplishments. Bringing us out of the dark chapter of our history known as the time of COVID-19, could not have been easy.  And now, looks at us, we are almost back to "normal".  Almost.

The other guy, on the other hand, does not have his heart in the right place. He does not care about what's best for America. He only cares about himself. He is a declared authoritarian and fascist who will govern like one, and he has vowed to get revenge on his perceived enemies.  The presidency is a get out of jail free card for him, and he will do whatever it takes to get it. The scary thing is, with the help and complicity of the corporate American media machine, he is well on his way to getting his wish. The old guy who has done a masterful public relations job of not seeming to be old, might very well beat the old guy who is not quite as adept and not making public perception his reality.

Joe Biden held a  press conference this past week where he angrily denounced the latest Special Counsel report which exonerated him but added some Comeyesque editorializing for cheap political points. During that press conference he made a mistake by mixing up the presidents of Mexico and Egypt. It was a never ending story in both right and left wing media for days. (CNN might be still running it as their lead story as I type this.) The other guy mumbles and bumbles his way through endless seemingly adderall induced speeches, and I don't think that they are mentioned even once in the main stream media.

Sadly, this is the new normal for the American press: They are riding the horse that makes them the most money.  In this case that horse is the one with the jockey wearing the bright red MAGA silks.

We knew Fergus would get billions of dollars worth of friendly media, just like the last two times. If we can all just vote, like we did last time, we will beat him. Speaking of which, I got my ballots for the primary in the mail yesterday.
I will fill them out later today and mail them in on Tuesday when we go to town for groceries. I'll probably vote for Katie Porter for senate, for various reasons, but mostly because she would have the hardest time getting her old seat in congress back. Any of the three Democrats running would be an excellent senator. It will be hard to vote against Barbara Lee. She was my congresswoman for thirty five years and getting to vote for her every other year was one of the better perks of living in the East Bay.
The goddamn Republicans are running a baseball player, because why the fuck not? A first baseman would do fine in the senate, right?
I'm just waiting for Fergus to fuck up and call him Marcus.

While it’s not ideal that Biden is 81 years old, and he does sometimes mix up names when speaking publicly, pretty much all honest, reputable people that have spent any time with him attest that he’s not some doddering, demented zombie. This characterization of him is 100% a Republican smear.

It’s shocking the double standard here, where the media fixates on every slip Biden makes, while ignoring the massive stream of absolute gibberish constantly emitted by the also-elderly Trump, who is damn near retarded at this point.

In a contest between a man who is old, and another man who is old AND EVIL, how is the former the one considered to be at a disadvantage? The only answer I can see is that there has, to date, been minimal pushback against dishonest Republican propaganda.

Every now and then I visit the shallow end of the Internet gene pool and I am never disappointed by the vacuousness of the denizens.

The accomplishments of, and I quote, "Joe Biden....we know that his head and heart is in the right place when it comes to what's best for America."

-> The highest inflation rate in over 40 years
-> The only President ever to be held in contempt by the British Parliament
-> Billions and billions of dollars of military hardware given over to the Taliban
-> The largest land war in Europe since WWII
-> Open warfare in the Middle East
-> Houthis attacking shipping in the Red Sea
-> Communist China openly planning for the invasion of Taiwan
-> Communist China casually flying spy balloons (for days) over some of the most sensitive military installations in the United States
-> Transferring billions and billions of dollars to the Iranian mullahs who openly call for the destruction of the United States
-> Forgiveness of monies borrowed by "students" but, in reality, just transferring the cost to the taxpayers
-> Millions of invaders, criminals, and welfare colonists, as well as an untold number of terrorists, crossing, unimpeded, the southern and northern borders of the United States

I could continue the list, but for the uninformed and fundamentally stupid who author the articles on this blog (and for those who agree with the opinions expressed in these articles)....well being uneducated and dumb as a bag of hammers appears to be how you choose to live your life.

Nitter’s not dead, but it’s in the process of dying.

It operated using a loophole of acquiring loads of these anonymous weird “guest” Twitter accounts and then letting Nitter users temporarily “borrow” them.

But Elon has apparently put an end to the issuing of new guest accounts, and the existing guest accounts are gradually expiring, so Nitter is becoming less functional with each passing day. Eventually, it will shut down completely.

In an interview with Bari Weiss of The Free Press, Roland Fryer, a Harvard economics professor, discussed the public outrage he experienced after he published a study about racial bias among Houston, Texas, police officers.

That study confirmed what most in law enforcement already knew–that police officers are, in fact, less likely to use deadly physical force on blacks and Hispanics. While the study did confirm that police were more than twice as likely to use some type of physical force on those minority groups, they were 23.8 percent less likely to shoot black suspects and 8.5 percent less likely to shoot Hispanic suspects than they were to shoot at white suspects.

October, by the DOJ's procedures, is too close to the election for criminal actions. By the goddamn court, though, and the retiring from leadership repugnant tortoise, twenty days before the election is just dandy (see also: Barrett, Amy Coney).

Trump Media Co-Founders Sue Company

February 29, 2024 at 10:37 am EST By Taegan Goddard 85 Comments

“The co-founders of former president Donald Trump’s media company filed a lawsuit Wednesday, claiming that Trump and other leaders had schemed to deprive them of a stake in the company that could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars,” the Washington Post reports.

“The case could complicate a long-delayed bid by Trump Media & Technology Group, owner of the social network Truth Social, to merge with a special purpose acquisition company called Digital World Acquisition and become a publicly traded company.”

“That merger deal, which could value Trump’s stake in the company at more than $3 billion, would offer the former president a financial lifeline at a time when he is facing more than $454 million in penalties from a civil fraud judgment this month in New York.”

Mike: Yeah, getting better. When I catch myself bitching about feeling lousy, I just remind myself about the millions of folks who died from it and thank my vaccine status that I'm not in the hospital on a fucking ventilator.

The goddamn supremes are a political body and we should start treating them as such.

Trump’s White House Was ‘Awash in Speed’

March 3, 2024 at 10:31 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 154 Comments

“If you ever looked at the actions of the Trump White House and wondered, ‘Are they on drugs?’ — the answer was, in some cases, yes. Absolutely, yes,” Rolling Stone reports.

“In January, the Defense Department’s inspector general released a report detailing how the White House Medical Unit during the Trump administration distributed controlled substances with scant oversight and even sloppier record keeping. Investigators repeatedly noted that the unit had ordered thousands and thousands of doses of the stimulant modafinil, which has been used by military pilots for decades to stay alert during long missions.”

“The report didn’t say why so many of those pills had been given out. But for many who served in the Trump White House, the investigation highlighted an open secret. According to interviews with four former senior administration officials and others with knowledge of the matter, the stimulant was routinely given to staffers who needed an energy boost after a late night, or just a pick-me-up to handle another day at a uniquely stressful job. As one of the former officials tells Rolling Stone, the White House at that time was ‘awash in speed.’”

I can see why you’d need to take drugs in order to cope with the awful reality of Trump being your boss.

Got covid. Briana brought it up from the East Bay, and as we live in a small room together and it's snowing outside, I got it.
Thankfully I'm boosted and it's no worse than a bad head cold.
