The Field Negro poll.

Since we are so inundated with polls leading up to this November's election, I figured I would conduct my own internal polling on the subject.

Here goes:

Who will you be voting for this November?

1. Joe Biden

2. Donald Trump.

3. RFK Jr.

4. Cornel West

5. None of the above.

Please explain why you are voting the way you are.

Much appreciated.

Joe Biden.

Any of the other options is a vote for Trump. Which, in turn, is a vote to (potentially) end US democracy.

I'm voting for Biden/Harris and every other Democrat om my ballot

Straight ticket Democrat, as the other options are kind of fascist-y for my tastes...

Only one intelligent choice and candidate who isn't a habitual liar by habit.

As always, I vote a straight Democratic ballot. I like Biden and what he's trying to do. If only we could take Congress, we could make progress!

Straight ticket Democrats. Always have.

I agree with many thoughts here. Pretty much everybody in my family has voted a straight democratic ticket since FDR. I while back I had a friend who grew up on a hacienda in New Mexico speaking Spanish and driving a Model T. He never made any bones about voting a straight ticket. Still I need to point out that when I started voting in 1980, we didn't view republicans with suspicion or distrust. We just thought that democrats were nicer, smarter and cared more about people than republicans. Being liberal has always been a good fit.

And I agree with some here today that Joe Biden has been a terrific president. He has remained true to democratic ideals of prosperity through smart government, student debt forgiveness, fighting for meaningful environmental legislation, gun control, social justice and equal rights. I cannot think of one issue in which Joe Biden has compromised his principals. He is strong and pragmatic. His communication is forceful and direct.

What's more I am fiercely proud of Kamala Harris. I have always liked her since getting to know her as the Attorney General of California. I supported her as U.S. senator. I have always listened to her on the radio for the last ten years. Today I see her radically redefining the role of vice president as she travels and makes public appearances like clockwork. In the past five weeks she has been in Selma Alabama, Munich reassuring European allies and back to D.C. to speak with Benny Gantz, a member of the Israeli war cabinet and to Parkland Florida to talk about Federal programs to help states with red flag laws. She has become the leading spokesperson for a woman's right to choose.

I'll vote Biden. While West would be an interesting choice, Biden is the only viable candidate. Biden, while flawed and justly called out for some of his policies, like Gaza, he has shown himself to care about others. That's a plus.

Joe Biden - he's a decent man, doing what he can to make the nation better than the previous president left it.

Joe Biden.
I will also work my hardest as a volunteer to re-elect him.
The alternative, the former guy, must not be allowed anywhere near the White House ever again.
He tried to steal the 2020 election and overthrow the US government.

Joe Biden. Voting any other way makes it more likely that Trump will win which would be disastrous for US democracy.

LOL.

Republicans have illegal immigration and wokeness on the brain to such an absurd degree that everything they say is turning into a punchline.

A Michigan GOP state legislator got himself very worked up about buses of what he described as “illegal invaders,” which he shared pictures of on Twitter. (Someone should inform him that the folks who are busing migrants around the country happen to be state governors from HIS party.)

It turns out that the passengers in the buses were … the Gonzaga men’s basketball team, in town to play an NCAA tournament game.

There is disturbing news today that Israel have been using an AI system to tell them which targets to bomb. It’s like winning the world’s worst lottery.

“Bad news, Abdullah. The computer has decided you’re a terrorist.”

none of the above. After 50 plus years of voting, I have decided to stop. My votes have not made one iota of difference, ever. I quit national elections last time and will skip them all this time.
I don't want to hear: 'You cant complain if you don't vote.' Fuck you. The limited choices controlled by the 'two party system' means often 'voting for the lesser evil'. Why even bother folks? Have fun.

I voted 'uncommitted' primarily as a protest against Biden's support of Israel's many terrible policies, but I'll vote for him in Nov. as the lesser of evils. The alternative is worse by a factor of 1000. To bad the Dems won't get behind someone I might be interested in supporting: like Cortes, West, Talib, Warren, or Sanders.

dinthebeast said...

I was a Warren supporter in the 2020 primary, but Biden has gotten more done than she could have. He was right and I was wrong. Being able to admit that should be a precondition for citizenship.

Apparently, RFK Junior offered to make Tulsi Gabbard his running mate for the election, but she turned him down.

That would really have been something — a double annoying-nutjob ticket. I can’t stand either of them.

Biden/Harris with enthusiasm. Any third party or independent vote is a vote that puts Trump back in the White House, which is the last thing our country needs.

If you don’t realize that Trump is a threat to democracy and Biden isn’t, or you are aware of these things and still believe voting for a no-hoper third-party candidate or not at all is somehow the best option, then you might be the one with the mushy mind.

No Labels has officially decided not to run a presidential candidate. So it looks like the main spoiler candidates will be fake environmentalist/real conspiracy kook RFK Jr, plus egotistical lefty gadflies Jill Stein and Cornel West.

Flying Junior said...

Any love for Kamala Harris? I see some have acknowledged her as running mate.

I always liked her. It's funny. I never thought of her as any particular race. I did watch a documentary about her life and heard her say and describe how she identifies as black. She was certainly raised among brown and black people.

I troll several blogs where both conservatives and liberals joust. I didn't realize that she was black, or identified as black, until the conservatives pointed it out to me. Of course they said all manner of disgusting and insulting innuendo and falsehoods. But it had never occurred to me that she was black.

Funny how they always seem hyper-aware of racial makeup.

dinthebeast said...

I've been watching her ever since she kicked Terence Hallinan's ass to be DA of San Francisco. Not too many folks can take down a political dynasty like she did, so I've been paying attention to her ever since.
All of the bullshit she's been taking from the right is just that: bullshit.
Thomas Ten Bears said that she's the reason he voted for the ticket in '20.

RFK is an antivaxxer, and he seems to hold a grudge against Biden for promoting accurate information on COVID/vaccines and trying to get misinformation removed from social media. Maybe that explains his motive to run for president.

I’m in South Carolina (aka Republicanistan) this week, and I can immediately see the damaging effect Trumpism has recently had on this part of the country. There are quack doctors on TV advertising scammy treatments for “Long Vax” (i.e., treatments for alleged COVID vaccine injury).

FYI, “Long Vax” is not a medically recognized condition.

The wheels of justice, etc. (from WaPo via the Maddow Blog):

“Two right-wing political operatives must pay up to $1.25 million in fines after they were found liable for launching a robocall campaign designed to keep Black New Yorkers from voting in the 2020 election, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Tuesday. Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, who have a history of concocting conspiracy theories to try to smear Democrats, were found liable last March of orchestrating a robocall campaign that reached about 5,500 predominantly Black New Yorkers in the summer of 2020.”
