I think Trump wants an actual war with Venezuela to distract from his failures in literally every area of federal governance. Everything he is doing is unpopular, at this point.
Even immigration, which was his most popular position (sadly the case, because lots of people have been brainwashed to fear foreigners), is now a disaster for him. Nobody but the racists approves of his “lawless, masked thug” approach to immigration enforcement.
And of course he’s totally screwed himself on the economy after campaigning on the promise that he could make prices go down. He has no way to do that, but he can and is actively making them go up with his idiotic tariffs.
