SCOTUS won’t intervene in the Virginia redistricting fight. For starters, I doubt there is a federal constitutional issue that would give them jurisdiction. On top of that, the SCOTUS wingnuts have turned themselves into nothing but a committee to empower the Republican Party and dismantle democracy, so they’d never reverse a ruling that helps Virginia Republicans, whatever the law might say on the issue.
However, given that Republicans are in “burn it all down” mode, there are signs that some Democrats are gearing up for full-on war themselves. There have apparently been backroom discussions involving Virginia Dem legislators about firing the entire Virginia Supreme Court and repopulating the bench completely with Democrats.
