This has been quite a news day. Tiger announced that he is breaking his silence tomorrow. And down in Texas, (there is a surprise) some wingnut with a grudge against the IRS, decided to channel his inner 911 terrorist and fly a small plane into their building. Now that's rich. Nothing like a little Cessna to the heart of those evil government people to send a message. The people are fed up with big government and won't take it anymore. Over at Radio Rwanda, the newly elected GOP candidate from Massachusetts was blaming the actions of this nut case on people's disenchantment with their government. Really?
"Violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer," the long note on Stack's Web site reads, citing past problems with the tax-collecting agency. "I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well," the note, dated Thursday, reads."
The above statement was from the pilot's blog. Hmmmm, those words I highlighted look very familiar to me, where I have I heard them before? Oh yeah, from Glen Beck.
Oh field, stop it, Beck was very clear how he felt about the guy:
"Instead, Beck railed against the violent actions of “someone we don’t know very well, yet,” pilot Joseph Stack who allegedly flew his plane into an Austin IRS office building, leaving behind both a manifesto and a suicide note. And he didn’t mince words.
We have no idea what this man’s ideology was…he could be from the left, he hates capitalism, he has an anti-business creed that goes on and on. It sounds like anything you could hear in a speech from Van Jones. When you read his anti-tax ravings and his anti-tax or IRS stuff it sounds like you could be reading bumper stickers off the cars or the signs of the Tea Party. We have no idea. But here’s the point. I have no idea if he’s left or right. Is he a communist or a radical constitutionalist. Here’s the point: it doesn’t matter. The guy is a killer.
Beck went on to compare Stack to Osama bin Laden and Timothy McVeigh and warned against rationalizing any of their actions: “I don’t like the IRS either, but I don’t kill people.” Taken all together it sounded to me like a bit of a shot across the bow to anyone who wants to suggest Stack is representative of a larger disgruntled populous. "
Sure Glen, you don't personally kill people. With your insane rantings every day you just inspire others to do it for you.
And finally, I want to talk about bad relationships. Not Tiger's, but relationships that led to unspeakable tragedies in the last couple of days. The first one was in New Jersey; where a young college student threw his infant child over a bridge because the child's mother would not marry him. Not only did he do that but...well, read the story for yourself:
"Authorities say the girl's father, 21-year-old Shamsiddi Abdur-Raheem of Galloway Township, allegedly forced his way into the grandmother's East Orange apartment around 4 p.m. Tuesday, striking her in the face, choking her, and forcibly taking the baby, wrapped in a blanket and a pink and gray onesie, before fleeing in his vehicle. The 60-year-old grandmother, who police declined to identify, chased after Abdur-Raheem and was struck when she tried to stop him by throwing herself in the path of his van. She was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and released." [Story]
Now you all know how I feel about the death penalty. I don't believe in it. But if this punk goes to prison and his fellow inmates happen to take his life, believe me when I tell you that I won't shed a tear. Not one.
Then there is the tragic story outside of Atlanta: A young athlete, on his way to Vanderbilt University, is killed by some animal who was previously involved with his mother. The good thing about this story is that the animal at least killed himself. The poor kid might have been protecting his mother. Who knows? What I do know is that yet another promising young life is lost because of the selfish and malevolent act of another person.
Honestly, it's times like these that I can understand how some people prefer their pets to people.
Oh, and before I go, quite a few of you want to know how I feel about the incident in Oakland, (What the hell is going on with BART these days?) where the white old head put a beat down on a young buck after asking him to spit- shine his shoes. *shaking head*. I just glanced at the video. But my first impression is this: Memo to young buck: work on your fighting skills before you go f*&%$*g with old heads on the bus. I don't care if he is a racist. In fact, that makes it worse. He is old, racist, and he kicked your ass. Man how do you live with yourself?
