Mitt says no, and Newt dares Nancy.

I come to praise and to rip flipper Mitt tonight. I am praising him because he told Mr. Bad Hair no thanks to his post Christmas debate. It looks like, just this once, he turned his back on those importunate demands of the wingnut crowd. Flipper Mitt seems to be thinking about all those independents who will vote in the general election. The problem is, of course, that he has to get out of the primary, and if he can't beat Newt, there will be no showdown with his Oness come November, 2012.

I have to rip him because.....well, let's just say that flipper Mitt's milks isn't so clean.

"Shortly before leaving the governor's office in Massachusetts, Mitt Romney's administration spent nearly $100,000 of state money to purge computer and email records in an unprecedented attempt to wipe out the paper trail of his tenure. His staff took home hard drives from state-owned computers and erased emails and other communications from state servers, complicating current efforts to retrieve and review the records of Romney's four-year term that ended in 2007.Related:

It is not believed that Romney violated any laws, but according to state officials who spoke to Reuters, the move to scrub the digital archive of his administration was unusually thorough. Several members of his staff used their own money to purchase the hard drives of their state computers so that they could take them home after leaving their jobs. The staff also broke an existing lease on office equipment so that they could rent new "clean" computers at the end of their run, a move that cost the state $97,000 in additional funds.
Related:
Romney claims that whatever record remains of his time in office — including possible details of what was erased — are not subject to state disclosure laws. However, like regulations governing the destruction of digital records, Massachusetts law is vague on what is and isn't allowed. The court ruling most likely to cover any disclosure ruling is from 1997 (well before most state business was done on email) and the state's official records law has not been updated to deal with digital records, meaning Romney could benefit from Massachusetts' failure to adapt to the 21st Century." Folks, it's called Romneycare, and flipper Mitt is trying very hard to run away from it. Good luck with that.

Finally, I see that Nancy Pelosi is threatening to tell the rest of us a little something about Newt. Nancy knows a lot; she was on the ethics committee that investigated him back in the day.

"Pelosi: “One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich,” Pelosi told Talking Points Memo. “When the time is right. … I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.”

Oh my! What else could there possibly be about Newt that the rest of us need to know? Nancy, please tell, inquiring minds want to know.

Of course, Newt was not pleased:

"I want to thank Speaker Pelosi for what I regard as an early Christmas gift,” Gingrich said at a press conference in Manhattan Monday.

Gingrich denounced the threat from Pelosi, who is now the minority leader in the House, as “a fundamental violation of the rules of the House,” and said that if Pelosi were to disclose details of the investigation, it would expose the “tainted ethics process the House was engaged in.” He also called for the House to condemn Pelosi if she were to reveal anything from the ethics probe."

Well Newt, some of this stuff is a part of the public record, and I think that it's time we all started looking.

Power should benefit the people, not you.

“It ain’t about Nancy. It’s about black people..” No Maxine, it's about you.

Now I don't know if Maxine Waters violated ethics rules or not. I am concerned that she did, but until I hear more I will reserve judgement. What I don't like is that her aids crashed a political event with campaign signs and brought more attention to her pending dilemma.

"Three staffers working for embattled Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) were asked by security officers to leave an event in downtown Washington on Thursday after they tried to display large campaign signs just as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was about to speak.

The aides were holding lawn signs that defended Waters from the ethics charges she is facing in the House. "

Some things, in my opinion, should be handled away from the spotlight. Maxine, if and when you are vindicated, may I suggest that you choose that time to bring attention to yourself?

“Let’s fight for Maxine Waters,” read a headline on the signs above a large picture of the congresswoman. Smaller headings read: “No improper action. No benefit. No failure to disclose. No one influenced. No case!”

No, let's fight for the people she represents. Not her. If she did wrong she doesn't deserve fighting for. If she didn't, well....this is A-merry-ca. [Article]

The Soft Negro.

Aaron Schock is a young republican congressman from the O man's home state, and his O ness recently wined and dined the young politician hoping to charm him into a spirit of bipartisanship. It didn't work. He even flew the little ingrate on Air Force One. But that didn't work either. What did you expect? The little weasel is, after all, a republican. Honestly, is it just me, or does it seems like everyone and their mama knows that it's wrong to try to play ball with he rethugs except his O ness? (What the hell were you thinking when you picked Judd Gregg for Commerce?)

Look, I know it worked in the elections. A-merry-cans vote from the middle, and they wanted their president to be someone who was willing to reach out to the other side. So in order to get that independent vote, the O man was Mr. Congeniality. The smooth talking negotiator who would change the tone in Washington. Most A-merry-cans saw him that way, and that's how they voted. But it's time to put the bully back into the bully pulpit. Stop playing the soft Negro role, and get Kingston 12 or "medieval" on their ass.

This is A-merry-ca damn it, and the last time I checked we have a two party system of governing here. Two different political schools of thought of how things should get done. People get on Nancy Pelosi, but at least she understands that you can't reach out to the wingnuts on the right. The O man might be as great persuader, but he ain't that good. If he was, he would have gotten at least one republican to vote for his stimulus package. He failed to understand that republicans, especially the ones in Washington, were all elected from very red states, and they ain't voting with the "One" no matter how many plane rides he gives them. The rethugs in Washington aren't there because of independent voters, and moderates, they are there because they were voted in by people from very red states and districts. They want to go back to Washington, so what do you think they are going to do?

If Obama was off to a rocky start it's because he tried to be too bipartisan. He tried to compromises with folks who don't understand the meaning of the word. He failed to see just how partisan they really are. Their blinders are thick, and their hearts are hardened. At this point the wingnuts on talk radio, reich wing blogs, and on FAKE NEWS, are their only constituents, and all the plane rides in the world won't change that.

“I like the President. He’s a very good guy . . . I want him to be successful. I want to vote for a stimulus bill. I appreciated his hospitality in bringing me along on the trip. . . . But at the end of the day my responsibility is to the people who gave me this job – my constituents,”

You hear that Obama? It's politics as usual. These people don't believe in compromises. Not with a "Socialist". Not with a man with a name like Barack Hussein Obama. Their peeps would never send them back to Washington.

So take it from the field, just put your head down, block out all the noise, and do your thing. Don't apologize for your victories, and don't hold your had down when you are defeated. You are the president damn it, start acting like it.
