Bye bye Chris and Carly.

 And then there was six. Goodbye Chris and Carly, we hardly knew ya.

Poor Chris Christie must be kicking himself for two things: Bridgegate and Donald Trump. Let's face it, Christie was trump before trump. He was that brash shoot from the hip straight talker who hated political correctness.

Carly was just a liar who thought that she would be the republican's version of Hillary. At times she seemed to know what she was talking about, and she actually did a good job at some of those earlier debates, but her blatant lying to score political points was a bit much, even for a politician in 2016.

So anyway, now it's on to South Carolina, and trump is clearly in the driver's seat. Fortunately for him,  there are still enough candidates in the race to make his 30% of the voters enough to give him enough delegates to leave Cleveland as the republican nominee. If he wins the plurality of the votes in all those winner take all states, he will be hard to stop. Chris and Carly can do the math, so they hit the road.

On the democratic side, last night Bernie beat Hillary like she stole his Larry David autographed baseball hat. It was ugly. If you are in Hilary's camp you have to be wondering how you are going to get all those young people to start voting for you. 

Hillary and her peeps couldn't wait to get out of New Hampshire and head to South Carolina. This is where she has her so called "fire wall" propped up with black support.

But not so fast. Bernie has made it known that he will be going after the black vote, and he met with Rev. Al today in Harlem to show his Negro cred.

"I've asked him very bluntly about Flint. I've asked him very bluntly about affirmative action," Sharpton said of the conversation. "I've asked him very bluntly about the issues of police brutality and police misconduct, things I want to hear."'

The meeting was arranged at Sanders’ request, according to The Washington Post."

OK then. I am not sure how many black votes this little trip to Sylvia's will get Bernie, but it's nice to see that he is reaching out. Although he might consider someone else from the black community to reach out to. I know that to white folks Al Sharpton is black America, but you have to believe me when I tell you that he is not.

"Observers said the meeting is Sharpton’s way of telling the Clinton camp it should not take his endorsement for granted.

Bronna-Helm said she supported Sanders over Clinton because of her husband’s harsh policies in the 1990s that led to a surge in people of color behind bars. Bill Clinton has since said the legislation that led to a surge in new prisons and tougher sentences was a mistake.

“Her husband's policies effected my community in a very negative way,” she said. “I think the Clintons have taken the African-American votes for granted.”'

Oh ohhh. This could be a long primary season on the democratic side as well.

Today my racism chase takes me across the pond.

I am sure that you all know about the Sergio Tiger feud by now, and about Sergio going all Fuzzy Zoeller on Tiger at a dinner recently, and then his clumsy apology for the "unintended" racist remark. (Digression alert: I happen to like fried chicken. It's a shame that it's not really good for you and I have to limit my intake of the stuff. So I have never understood why white folks use fried chicken as a putdown of us black folks. Especially when I see white folks tearing into the stuff on a regular. The Colonel did not get rich serving fried chicken to only black folks. Remember that.)

So anyway, Euro Tour CEO George O'Grady was apologizing on behalf of Sergio, and the poor guy came off looking worse than Sergio himself when it comes to this racial sensitivity thing.

"In trying to defend, or at least rationalize, Sergio Garcia's "fried chicken" shot at Tiger Woods, European Tour CEO George O'Grady took to the airwaves of Sky Sports. And in the course of his defense, O'Grady offered up this gem: "Most of Sergio's friends are colored athletes in the United States.''

Ouch. Yes, go ahead and look at your calendar ... this is indeed 2013. Golf has a reputation for being stuck in the past, and nowhere is it more apparent than at moments like this." [Source]

Well, as noted in the article, maybe "colored" has a different meaning across the pond than it does here in America. But my man in his position should have known better. As a white man, you can't just drop the C word when addressing racism from a position of power in 2013.

O'Grady immediately issued a statement of apology: "I deeply regret using an inappropriate word in a live interview for Sky Sports for which I unreservedly apologize."

Relax George; my racism meter is not registering with you. My stupid meter, on the other hand, is blowing up.

Speaking of stupid, someone ought to try and give the school district up there in New York a clue.

A junior-high school Spanish teacher has filed a lawsuit alleging that she was fired from P.S. 211 in the Bronx in March 2012 because of a misunderstanding over the word “negro.”

The non-tenured teacher, 65-year-old Petrona Smith, maintains that she was instructing her class about how to say the various basic colors in Spanish, reports the New York Post. The word “negro” naturally came up because “negro” is the Spanish word for “black.”

A seventh-grade student in the class took offense at the term, however, believing the word to be a racial slur. It’s not clear if Smith directed the term at the student. Whatever the case, he reported the incident to school officials.

But, wait. It gets better. Smith, a native of the West Indies, is black. And to top it all off, P.S. 211 is bilingual.

Smith’s attorney, Shaun Reid, called the charge that allegedly led to his client’s termination ridiculous.

'They haven’t even accounted for how absurd it is for someone who’s black to be using a racial slur to a student,' Reid told the Post.

School officials refused to make any comment about the allegations in the lawsuit. As such, the publicly-known facts are tremendously one-sided at this point." [Source]

OK, I suspect that the school district might have wanted to get rid of this teacher and that this was just an excuse to do so, or some sort of tipping point for past sins. But come on now, Negro?!

"But Field, what's the difference between 'colored' and 'Negro"'?

It's all about context.

Now while what George and Petrona said might not have been a case of racism, this certainly is. It's a damn shame that not even the "Magic Negro" from The Green Mile can rest in peace here in these divided states of America. The big R can literally follow you to your grave.

Finally Field hands, I will be out of the country for the next few days, so I am not sure how my posts are going to go. I will try, but life doesn't always cooperate with this blogging thing.

A couple of things.

I never like to blog about real personal shit, but since none of these people read my blog I have to share it.

It's like this, I have this partner who is having some serious "spider web sex" (his words, I guess it means she has him hooked) with this jump off. So Friday evening he leaves a message on my cell phone and tells me not to answer my calls for the rest of the evening. He doesn't want me to answer because he told his wife that he is hanging out with me, and he doesn't want me talking to her by accident. The nerve of this mother fucker, I can't answer my cell phone because he wants to spend the evening playing Michael Douglas with his jump off.

But I am still torn with this shit. Who wants to contribute to the downfall of yet another black family? On the other hand, my man and I go back a little, and lord knows I don't want to make the shit any harder for him at home.

Hey, I have been there, but as Bernie Mac says, that was a "long long long time ago". And I am sure there are many of us (men and women) who used to, or are still doing that same juggling act now. But I am too old for that shit, and so is he.
My man is supposed to be me calling today with a story, but I swear I don't even want to hear it.
I just hope I won't see his wife any time soon. I am just not as good at lying as I used to be.

Now on to a separate issue I want to share with you all.

It seems that I attract more than a normal amount of white supremacist and racist to my site. (I think it has something to do with my handle, and the fact that when they google words like Negro, and nigger, my site pops up) These cretins always end up e-mailing me or trying to engage me via comments on this site. They like to make threats and tell me what the will and will not do to me when they come to my hometown or if they ever meet me wherever.


Here is the deal my racist friends; if you do come to my hometown, and I find out who you are, I will have your ignorant asses arrested. Because you are not worth losing my career or my freedom over. And I think I will be doing the public a favor by getting your type off the street. Ten years ago if you stepped to me with the bullshit, your bodies could have been found burning in the trunk of a car in South West Philly somewhere. But this is the kinder gentler field; so rather than coming down to your level, or entertain your ignorance, I will just let the authorities do their job.


But please keep coming to the fields (I will never ban you, that's not my style). I think we all need to know that you are out there, and what you are capable of.
