Rand Paul was at Howard University lecturing Negro students about the history of the republican party the other day, and while I am sure that all the young people who were present appreciated his outreach effort, (not the fact that he lied to them) I bet they wish that he wasn't quite so condescending in his approach. Rand, here is a news flash for you: those college kids know the history of your party and black folks. You need to be explaining why it is that your party tolerates people like Jim Gile.
"Saline County, Kansas Commissioner Jim Gile (R) told the Salina Journal it was a "bad choice of words" when he used the expression "nigger-rigging it" in a heated discussion that was being recorded.
Gile insisted that he meant to say "jury-rigged," noting "I had it on my brain and this came out. It was a bad choice of words. I'm sorry."
Of course Jimmy went on to say that some of his best friends are black and that he has helped to build homes for "colored people." (Yes,he really said that)
And when they are not being racist they ignore science.
Let's take a look at another republican, Joe Barton.
"Speaking before the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power this Wednesday, Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) cited a biblical flood as an example of climate change that was not anthropogenic in nature.
During the committee’s hearing on a bill that would give Congress the authority to approve the petroleum-delivering Keystone XL Pipeline, Barton asserted his support for the project before noting that he does not deny climate change, but rather, that he disputes whether the phenomenon is man-made." [Source]
The people of Texas should be embarrassed after reading those comments.
Finally, I didn't comment on Margaret Thatcher's passing because I really don't like to speak ill of the dead, but....... I will let someone else say it for me.
"Margaret Thatcher has been accused by the Australian foreign minister of having held "unabashedly racist" views after he revealed that the late former British prime minister had warned him of the challenge posed by immigration from Asia.
Bob Carr, who served as premier of New South Wales between 1995 and 2005, said that Thatcher pleaded with him to ensure Sydney did not "end up like Fiji" where citizens of Indian heritage formed a majority until a coup in 1987.
Carr, whose wife is of Malaysian origin, spoke of his surprise at Thatcher's remarks. The senator told the Lateline programme on ABC TV: "I recall one conversation I had with her in her retirement where she said something that was unabashedly racist, where she warned Australia – talking to me with Helena [his wife] standing not far away – against Asian immigration, saying that if we allowed too much of it we'd see the natives of the land, the European settlers, overtaken by migrants."
Carr expressed astonishment when Thatcher drew an analogy with Fiji, where the Indo-Fijian community formed a majority of the population in 1970 when it achieved independence from Britain. The community, descendants of labourers who travelled to the former British colony to work on sugar plantations in the late 19th century, has fallen to just over 38% in the last two decades after a 1987 coup. In 2000 Mahendra Chaudhry, the first Indo-Fijian prime minister, was taken hostage in another coup.
Carr said: "I was astonished. Helena fortunately was out of earshot. I remember one thing she [Thatcher] said as part of that conversation. She said: 'You will end up like Fiji. I like Sydney but you can't allow the [Asian] migrants … to take over otherwise you will end up like Fiji where the Indian migrants have taken over." [Source]
No wonder conservatives loved her so much.

A Star is not born, and IQ tests needed for gun owners.
Here is a riddle for you: How many house Negroes can you fit into a television studio? If you watched FOX News on Monday night you got your answer.
I don't have a problem with conservative Negroes wanting to express themselves, but you Negroes have got to stop whining about how bad you have it.
If you have a forum on a highly rated cable news program to express yourself and cry about how mean folks are to you, then you might need to step back and reassess things a bit.
Maybe it's your message that needs fine tuning.
"When we look at who is behind this strategy, the liberal Democrats have not changed their M.O,” Parker said amid a discussion among African American conservatives on Fox News’ Hannity.
“This is not a new strategy, they used it during slavery. Remember, every time the word ‘freedom’ was mentioned and African Americans at that time heard about freedom — if you ran away, they would bring you back to that plantation — the overseer — the overseer today is the Congressional Black Caucus, their exclusive job is to keep them on the plantation, keep them uneducated, and keep them unarmed. And this was the same job as the overseer of the slave plantation, which was liberal Democrats.”
They would take that slave, they would strip the skin off of him and make everybody watch,” she added. “And that is what they do to us.”
Star, rhetoric like that is not a good way to win friends and influence people.
"While most of the panelists agreed, Crystal Wright of ConservativeBlackChick.com said it was wrong to portray Democrats as slave-masters and black Democrats as slaves.
She said Republicans should focus on their civil rights victories, noting the party had strongly supported African Americans’ right prior to the political realignment of the Southern states in the mid-20th century..."
Crystal, that's more like it.
Finally, stop me if you have heard this story before.
"A Tennessee deputy's four-year-old nephew shot and killed his wife during a weekend cookout at their home, police said.
Josephine Fanning, 47, and the boy walked into a bedroom where her husband Daniel was showing his personal gun collection to a relative in Lebanon. Unaware that the child entered, the sheriff's deputy left a loaded pistol unattended on the bed.
"Split second, we're talking about seconds for that kid to walk in that room unbeknownst to them, grab that gun and it goes off," said Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan." [Source]
I think it's time we expand those background checks for firearms owners and include an intelligence test in there somewhere.

Intentionally clueless.
I got a lot of e-mails and tweets from folks wanting to know my opinion about this "accidental racist" song that Uncle L and some country singer decided to serenade us with.
While I appreciate the attempt to address the issue of race and our differences here in America (and yes, I know that the country singer has love for Obama, but that doesn't get him a pass in my book), I am sadly going to have to give thumbs down to these artists and call out this song for the bull s*** that it is.
Why would I give some dude a pass for wearing a confederate flag? You are not an "accidental racist", you are a f*****g racist! And someone besides his mama needs to knock out Uncle L for signing off on this crap. Please believe that some dude wouldn't be singing about wearing a shirt with a big fat swastika on the front and some Jewish rapper would be telling him that it's cool and he is just misunderstood. (BTW, Uncle L, I do not wear a big gold chain)
Loved this quote from someone calling themself "Censure" who posted comments under the article I linked.
"It is essentially Mr. Smith saying "You don't judge me for my innocuous chains and doo-rag and I won't judge you for sporting a symbol created to represent the battle to keep my people enslaved, which continues to be sported by card carrying racists today." It is essentially creating an offense on the part of black people in order to whitewash history, condone, permit, and assuage the guilty feelings of people that obviously don't care enough about the feelings of blacks that they continue to sport that flag. LL sounds like a battered wife excusing her husband's abuse because, "We both have our faults. I should have made sure dinner was done by the time he got home."
Where are Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder when you need them?
Maybe we should just take a break from this racism discussion thing for awhile.
Congrats to the Louisville Cardinals for winning the NCAA basketball championship last night. It will be interesting to see where Coach Pitino puts that tattoo. I have some suggestions, but I am sure that coach would like to put that episode behind him.
But all is not good in the state of Kentucky. (Thank you Mother Jones) Apparently the senior senator from that state was caught on tape with some of his "operatives" smearing a potential opponent and making fun of her mental illness.
Now, as is to be expected, the slimy senator is crying foul and playing the race card no less. When confronted about his actions he quickly said that liberals made fun of his wife's ethnicity and demanded an FBI investigation into the alleged "wire tap" of his campaign office.
Welcome to the new way of crisis management in America: attack the person responsible for allowing the rest of us to see that you are doing wrong.
Rutgers University is hoping that this tactic works for them. Eric Murdock, the whistle blower who exposed their ignorant Bobby Knight wannabe of a coach, is now being investigated for extortion.
"A person familiar with the FBI's probe told The Associated Press on Sunday that investigators are interested in Eric Murdock, who left his job as the men's basketball program's player development director last year and later provided the video to university officials and ESPN.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the inquiry has not been announced. The investigation was first reported last week by ESPN and The New York Times."
"Negro, I know you didn't just think we were going to give you close to a million dollars and allow you to just walk off into the sunset looking like a hero."

Being duped in Philly.
Oh my goodness, it looks like the Philly Mag folks have been duped by one of these "stolen valor" clowns. I guess that they were too busy "being white in Philly" to spot a hoax.
As someone who lost a close friend and a family member because of the Iraq war, I would like to say for the record that these people sicken me.
Taking credit for the work of the brave men and women who put their lives on the line in service to their country when you did nothing to earn it is as low as you can get in my book.
I wish I could feel sorry for the author of the piece, Anthony Gargano (a likable bloke who has a popular sports talk show here in town), but I can't. He should have done more, and his editors, instead of wondering how white folks in Philly feel about living here, should have been doing their due diligence and checking on the legitimacy of this alleged "Marine sniper."
"And that’s when I set out to write an intimate portrait of a haunted man. I wanted the piece to be strictly through his eyes and from his vantage point. Some stories are best told that way—from the inside-out, as opposed to the outside-in, working a circle around the subject. In hindsight, I had already committed a terrible sin. I had let my guard down and decided that everything that John Boudreau told me was gospel, when in fact it was bad fiction. I didn’t verify his stories, and I’m ashamed to say the thought never even crossed my mind that he concocted most of what he told me. I will tell you that I had countless correspondence with this man, and I sit here stunned. "
So are we Anthony. So are we.
Finally, conservatives confuse me. They whine over and over again that liberals are too hung up on race, and yet they complain about the new anchor on MSNBC, a Negro, being "too light".
First of all, as some of my Negro friends like to say: "stay out of black folks business." This is for us to decide, not you.
We know that you only play the race card when it suits you politically, and that you could care less if this talking head is red blue or green.
We have some issues with some of these talking heads on television claiming to be black (I see you Soledad) but this is not something that you conservatives need to concern yourselves about. We will work out our own "colorism" issues without help from the wingnut peanut gallery.

"Viva Havana".
I just read an article by conservative writer, A.J. Delgado, who was quite upset to hear that two African American entertainers had the nerve to visit Cuba.
Jay -Z and Beyoncé chose to spend their 5th wedding anniversary in the land of sugar cane and cigars, and it has some folks in certain quarters quite upset.
Delgado let the couple have it for, as he (she) wrote, visiting a country with a history of racism and "relegating its black population to second class status." I need a break! This is the equivalent to a bank robber lecturing a cat burglar for stealing at night. How an American could lecture anyone about another country and their history of racism is beyond me.
I look at the Cubans who made their way to South Florida as opposed to those who are still there, and it is obvious that the haves in that country- prior to the revolution-looked a certain way, and the have-nots looked a little different. (See darker.)
I remember a country that gave other predominantly black countries in the region things such as doctors, teachers, experts to help and teach new and unique ways of farming (micro dams) , and aid to help build the infrastructure of those countries. A country that was instrumental in moving these poorer countries from a state of dependent capitalism to self sufficiency.
I remember a country with a leader (Fidel) who embraced Nelson Mandela when our government was still supporting the regime that imprisoned him. A man who President Mandela personally thanked for helping to "topple apartheid."
But folks like Delgado will never get it.
"While dining, partying, and enjoying the best Havana has to offer, Beyoncé and Jay-Z not only legitimize and support the repressive regime, with both their presence and their cash, but turn a blind eye, cruelly, to the perils and languishing of the Cuban people.
Both stars are proud African-Americans — yet, curiously, chose to vacation in a country notorious for relegating its black population to second-class status, or worse." [Source]
I think A.J. Delgado is delusional if he (she) thinks Cuba is "notorious" for relegating black folks in Cuba to second-class status. A.J. might want to look around in the country that he (she) is living in.
Jigga, light up another cigar, find a nice restaurant on Obispo Street, order some good Cuban food, and just enjoy the view.
Conservative writers with a bogus agenda should be the furthest thing from your mind.

The System X conspiracy.
If you are not aware of something called System X and the Obama administration's plan to team up with the UN and turn America into a Nazi state, take heart, you are not alone. It only means that you are not a [right] wingnut. If you are aware of president Obama's surreptitious plans, then you might want to stop reading and head to another blog; this is clearly not the place for you.
For those of you sane people who have no idea what the loons on the right are thinking, here is a little breakdown courtesy of Mother Jones.
"Last week, conservative talk show host and media mogul Glenn Beck decided to let his listeners in on what he dubbed "the biggest story in American history." It's called System X. "If you don't stop it," he warned, "American history is over as you know it."
As Beck explained it, a little-known Department of Education program, supported by rich philanthropists, business interests, and the United Nations, was turning public schools into the world’s next great data-mining frontier. Using carrots offered up in the 2009 stimulus bill, the federal government and its contractors could compile hundreds of points of data on your kids and use it for who knows what. The result: "System X: a government run by a single party in control of labor, media, education, and banking; joined by big business to further their mutual collective goals."
The gateway to this dystopian future, which Beck predicted would lead to some portions of the United States embracing Nazism, was President Barack Obama's controversial push for a new national curriculum known as Common Core. The conspirators are far-ranging. Rupert Murdoch is in on it. So is the American Legislative Exchange Council, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Jeb Bush." [Source]
So there you have it folks. If that Obama fellow has his way, our children will be citizens of the United States of Obama before we know it.
Finally, here is a sobering thought: In the middle of this gun debate when the NRA and [right]wingnuts are saying no to background checks for potential gun owners, there has been over *250,000 gun sales blocked to domestic abusers. [Info here.]
Think about that the next time you hear Wayne LaPierre or one of the scumbag politricksters he bought off lying to you.

X rated racism?
As you all well know, I will chase racism with the best of them, and lord knows that I have been wearing out my racism track shoes of late. The big R is everywhere. From small Georgia towns, to large Northeastern cities. But sorry folks, my racism chase can only take me so far. I have to draw the line somewhere.
" Although the pornography industry reportedly generated a staggering $10 billion per year at one point, the blue movie biz may be plagued by the age-old looming specter of racism. Based on the accounts of a popular White starlet, the industry’s leaders are older White men who feel that actresses lessen their value when working with Black male actors.
Aurora Snow, a 12-year veteran, wrote an op-ed last month for “The Daily Beast” explaining the machinations of racism in the business. In the piece, Snow recounts a time where an agent warned her from working with African-American men onscreen.
An excerpt from Snow’s op-ed
Lexington Steele told “The Root”:
Ahhm, sorry Lex, I am just not fighting the good fight for equality for folks in your business. I think we have other areas that are a little more important in the civil rights pecking order. Besides, I hear that thanks to your "measurable weight", (pun intended) you do what you do with quite a few co-stars of the Caucasian persuasion. Not that I know this personally. Someone happened to tell me after I Googled your name for this post......
Finally, I am glad to hear that O apologized to Kamala Harris. Although honestly, we all seemed to be more worked up over the entire episode than she was. Besides, it seems like she has been looking in O's direction as well:
"Harris, it turns out, once commented on Obama's appearance. The San Jose Mercury News found a 2009 YouTube video in which she says: "He looks and he sounds like a million bucks."
Still, O should understand the historical sensitivities that come with commenting on a woman's looks in such a way. And I am sure that he realized that it was a dumb comment to make publicly. But, as I posted yesterday, it is not something worth dwelling on.
There is no doubt that Ms. Harris is a very well qualified woman. She just happens to be easy on the eyes. A blogger from Philly posting on his blog can say that. The president, on the other hand, not so much.
So you all can stop beating up on my girl Zerlina Maxwell and others who got on O's case now. Let's all just hold hands and move forward.

An excerpt from Snow’s op-ed
When I first got into the adult-film business about 12 years ago, one of the most confusing things my agent asked was whether I “did interracial.” I was completely baffled. So the old man clarified: “Do you do black guys?” I was shocked at what seemed a racist question. As I sat on his dusty couch in a small, smoke-filled office, it suddenly felt like I was in another era: the black-and-white one.“The Root” hopped in on the debate by bringing into the conversation African-American male performer Lexington Steele, a former stockbroker and one of the most popular adult entertainers ever. His take on the industry’s supposed racist practices supports what Snow wrote, adding that it doesn’t begin with the actresses themselves.
Lexington Steele told “The Root”:
It’s definitely something that exists, and I think it’s something that’s built within the fabric of the industry, because if you look at the individuals that are in positions of authority over some of the white females, the ones governing them are the ones implementing this practice of no interracial. It’s their managers, boyfriend or husband or family members.Steele’s insider observation is of particular interest, considering he exists in a rarefied position as a Black man who is the owner of an adult film company and director. Coupled with the fact he is the only person to win Adult Video News’ (AVN) coveted “Performer Of The Year” award three times, Steele’s take comes with measurable weight." [Source]
It’s just an element of American culture that still exists, and that is the feeling that a white female will be deflowered or soiled, if you will, by doing a scene with a black male. But that does speak to the continued existence of bigotry and racism, and I don’t think porno is unaffected by certain elements of American culture. And quite honestly, adult media is the only major business that allows for the practice of exclusion based upon race.

The president likes the menu.
A couple of months ago I was at a function. This honey on a Robinne Lee tip tapped me on the shoulder and told me that she recognized me and that she is a huge fan of my blog. I thanked her, shook her hand, and asked her to keep reading.
I appreciated the blog love, and, more importantly, the view. She was all that!
But here is the thing; I am a happily married man. I could appreciate her beauty without thinking about anything else.
This brings me to our boy, O. Some folks are up in arms because he declared that Kamala Harris is the "best looking attorney general" in these divided states of America.
Now, let's be honest, that's not like saying that she is the best looking cheerleader in the NBA. "In the land of the blind the one eyed man is King". He said it at a private fundraiser to a few of his wealthy friends. No harm no foul, but O needs to be careful. His opponent in the last election probably lost it because of his 47% comment to a few of his wealthy friends.
Anyway, hopefully he won't get the business from the First Lady. From what I can see I am sure that she, like the lovely Mrs. Field, understands this saying: "Just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu."
Finally, my man Triple-B over at Kos really has me thinking about heading back to Mandeville with his latest blog post.
"So, remember the nutcase from my previous post earlier today? Apparently he's getting tons of response from people all over the country about his eagerness to go on a killing spree because he doesn't like how our elections work. So I'm watching this guy and...well...just see for yourself:
No society should ever tolerate people going around talking about raising armies (accidentally?) and killing people. Really? I mean seriously? Are we really going to be a people that tolerates a full blown insurrectionist talking of civil war, raising armies and killing people? A person who has decided for himself when murder is and isn't necessary? He hasn't been elected to anything. He hasn't taken any oaths and responsibilities of public office. Yet, he deems himself sole arbiter of when murder is alright or when building a terror cell, even accidentally, is perfectly alright.
These are the sorts of individuals who are on the other side of this debate over gun control. No, they are not your grandpa who keeps a revolver in his desk in the study. Nor is it your outdoorsman uncle who likes to do a bit of fishing and hunting. It aint[sic] your grandma looking to scare off the foxes from the henhouse. These are full on survivalist apocolyptic[sic] nutcase psychopaths. With arsenals. Far from being the 'responsible gun owners,' they are exactly the people who ought not have them."
Oh lawd! As if I don't have enough to worry about with the North Koreans and these Aryan Brothers in Texas. Now I have to keep an eye out for some redneck treating his assault weapon like some phallic symbol while he is looking for a testosterone high because he is insecure in other areas.

Now, I don't condone anybody doing anything rash. I do not condone anybody committing any kind of felonies up to and including aggrivated assaults or murders. Unless its necessary.Right now, it is not necessary. I understand that my video was very volatile. You have no idea how many people that sent me emails and texts and call me like 'Right on! My shit's clean. My bag is packed. You tell me when and where.' You have no idea how quickly I accidentally assembled an army. I assure you, a quite formidable army. But now is not the time. It's not time yet.Okay folks. I think we've seen enough. Now, this person is now officially ready to be arrested and prosecuted and have his guns taken away for good.
But, it is time to get ready!

Here comes "political correctness" and there goes the neighborhood.
I know I rip the South a lot for some of the stuff that goes on down there, but please believe that folks here in the Northeast can be just as backwards and ignorant.
My hometown of Philly comes to mind. We have some folks here who time seems to have forgotten.
As you may or may not know, Philly is the cheesesteak center of the universe. And here in the city we are serious about our "steaks" and the places that sell them. Everyone in Philly has their favorite cheesesteak spot.
One particular spot in a section of Philly known for its...let's just say working class ethnic folks, was known as Chinks. And in spite of that very offensive name it stood there for years. Apparently the original owner looked Asian (even though he wasn't) and his friends would call him the C word. The name stuck and when he opened his steak shop he rolled with it. Now....

"As the hydraulic lift rose one story to eye level with the Chink's Steaks sign, a few yards away Robert Quinn stood on the curb, venting - loudly - to his girlfriend.
"I mean, he's ignoring the 10,000 signatures on the petition to keep the name? Now, he's giving in to political correctness!"
Quinn, a 59-year-old truck driver from the Wissinoming neighborhood, represented the overwhelming sentiment among residents who showed up Monday morning to witness Chink's rechristening as Joe's - a small but symbolic blip in the city's history.
From its dawning in 1949, when the first sliced onions were slapped onto the grill, the cheesesteak shop on Torresdale Avenue had been known as Chink's.

From its dawning in 1949, when the first sliced onions were slapped onto the grill, the cheesesteak shop on Torresdale Avenue had been known as Chink's.
No offense intended. The owner, Samuel "Chink" Sherman, had almond-shaped eyes. He had been going by the nickname since grade school.
Back then, ethnic slurs slipped off the tongue as smoothly as melted American cheese. Those who were insulted rarely complained, except to fellow members of their own tribe.
Today, the city is more diverse and sophisticated, and the language of bigotry is no longer acceptable.
At least not publicly.
At least among most Philadelphians.
In Wissinoming, however, once almost exclusively a white working-class enclave, the passing of Chink's has stirred deep resentment. Defending the rightness of the name and the right to maintain it, residents mourned times when, they said, everyone had thicker skin and people were not forced to walk on verbal eggshells.
"I just think it's ridiculous," said Eleanor McGonigal as she sat on a step, watching the sign come down. "C'mon," said McGonigal, a 60-year-old warehouse worker who has lived in the neighborhood all her life. "Cracker Barrel hasn't had to change their name. I mean, that could be made into a racist thing."
Rumors had circulated that the shop's owner was new and wanted a fresh start. But Joe Groh, the 50-year-old owner and now namesake of Joe's Steaks & Soda Shop, started working at Chink's when he was 16, coming in after school to slice meat for Sherman. Groh and his wife, Denise, grew up a few blocks from the shop and lived with their children in the three-bedroom apartment above it for years."
Good for Joe Groh. He has ignored 10,000.00 signatures and joined the rest of us in the 21st Century, leaving the Neanderthals in his neighborhood behind. The sad thing is that people like Robert Quinn, and Eleanor McGonigal who think that it's cool to slur and offend an entire group of people are probably in Mass every Sunday morning.
What is wrong with "political correctness" if it causes you to do the right thing and act in a civil manner towards your fellow human beings? Eleanor threw in the "Cracker Barrel" reference. I love when some folks do that. I am glad the name Cracker Barrel doesn't offend white folks, but the word Chink offends a lot of people, and for that the sign had to come down.
"Others, like William Ulrich, said the passing of "Chink's" symbolizes the neighborhood's decline.
"This place has a tan," said Ulrich, a 51-year-old postal worker, who wore a wireless phone device in his ear and shorts that revealed a large cross "in the colors of the American flag" tattooed on his calf.
Over the last 15 years, he said, crime has soared, and he blamed African Americans and Hispanics who have moved in, especially those in government-subsidized housing.
"If you say anything, you're a racist, when you're just a realist," he said. "You're supposed to be politically correct? Try walking down Torresdale Avenue after 8 p.m. without getting robbed."
It would be wrong, though, to assume that the only opponents of the name change are white."
"The man it was named for passed away," said Terrell Jenkins, who is black. "Out of respect for him, I don't think they should have changed it." [Source]
Oh shut up you self- hating Negro! In case you didn't notice William the post man thinks folks like you are "tanning" his neighborhood. He calls you something else behind your back.

Mr. Smith goes to prison, and more from the GOP's I Love The Negro Tour.
The other day I sat in a court room and watched while a young brotha was brought up in shackles from his cell. I listened while the Assistant District Attorney read charges after charges against him, and then proceeded to read from his very long rap sheet that outlined a life of thuggery and petty crimes. There is no doubt that this dude was a career criminal who had used up all his chances and was now, thankfully, finally being taken off the street.
But as despicable as I find the actions of career criminals like this young man, it pales in comparison to the disdain I have for politricksters who betray the communities that they are supposed to be serving by looking out for their own self interest. They are in positions of power and they have the ability to make real change from their seats at the table. When they do nefarious things their actions have a profound effect on the communities that sent them to sit at the table.
This is why I was so glad to hear of the arrest of Malcolm Smith in New York. This Negro was allegedly scheming to buy off republican politricksters so that he could get his name on the mayoral ballot. He is being charged with bribery, extortion, and mail fraud. If he is found guilty I hope that they throw the book at him.
"But field, why does the black man have to be the first to get arrested? Why is 'the man' always going after these high ranking black politicians?
Because black politicians like this ignorant Negro would rather spend his time scheming with republicans (REPUBLICANS!) to grab power and line his pockets than do the people's work.
When you fool around in the house instead of trying to find ways to serve the people you are supposed to be looking out for, you will ultimately find yourself doing a perp walk and embarrassing your family and your constituents.
"Authorities described the scheme - potentially one of the biggest political scandals to hit New York in years - as an attempt to game the city's first wide-open mayoral election in more than a decade. New York will choose a new mayor in November, before Michael Bloomberg's third term wraps up at year's end.
The charges center on State Senator Malcolm Smith, a Democrat from Queens, who prosecutors said made payments to a city councilman to set up meetings with top New York Republicans to assist in getting him on the mayoral ballot.
Smith and the councilman, Daniel Halloran, a Republican from Queens, were among the six politicians arrested on Tuesday morning in connection to the bribery scandal.
Charges against the six include bribery, extortion, and wire and mail fraud.
"From time to time the question arises, how common is corruption in New York?" said Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara at a late-morning press conference. "Based on the cases that we have brought and continue to bring, it seems downright pervasive."
Recent years have seen another high-ranking New York state Senator, Democrat Pedro Espada Jr., convicted of stealing more than $600,000 from Soundview HealthCare Center, a partly federally funded company he worked at; and a pay-for-play scandal at the state's pension fund that saw the state comptroller resign and serve 21 months in prison.
Authorities arrested four other politicians: Queens County Republican Party Vice Chairman Vincent Tabone, Bronx County Republican Party Chairman Joseph Savino, Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin and Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Joseph Desmaret.
Jasmin and Desmaret are Democrats.
Smith's lawyer, Gerald Shargel, defended his client but said he had not yet fully reviewed the charges. "Malcolm Smith is a dedicated public servant who has served ... his constituents in an exemplary fashion," Shargel said."
Excuse me while a get some tidy wipes. I think I just threw up on my computer keys.
*Finally, Reince Priebus is on his I Love The Negro Tour on behalf of the GOP. He has been going to some major urban areas where a lot of black folks congregate, and from what I hear he has been sincerely trying to reach out (see passing out $$$ to certain preachers) to you Negroes on behalf of his party.
Sorry Reince, I know some of these Negro preachers; your 10 million dollars might run out after just two churches.
Just sayin.

No wonder the poor guy can't find a church.
I know that it's April Fool's Day but this is not a joke: Right wingers and the Fox News folks are losing their minds because of what the pastor said where president Obama attended church on Easter Sunday.(BTW, I love the suit, O. It's nice to see a president with a sense of style.)
Apparently the preacher told the truth about the religious right and they were not too pleased about it. They blame Obama for controlling the man's speech and giving him a secret sermon to talk about the right and their intolerance for others.
"The sermon at the service, delivered by Dr. Luis Leon, an Episcopal pastor who delivered the benediction at Mr. Obama's second inauguration, took a turn for the political when the pastor decried those who wax nostalgic about the way things once were.
"I hear all the time the expression 'the good old days'," Leon said. "Well, the good old days, we forget they have been good for some, but they weren't good for everybody.
"You can't go back, you can't live in the past," he added. "It drives me crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling people back...for Blacks to be back in the back of the bus, for women to be back in the kitchen, for gays to be in the closet and for immigrants to be on their side of the border."
"What you and I understand," Leon said, "is that when Jesus says, 'You can't hang onto me,' he says, 'You know it's not about the past, it's not about the before, it's not about the way things were, but about the way things can be in the now.'"
The reaction from the idiots on the right was swift. Now the White House is facing questions. Why? Even if what the preacher said was wrong (which it wasn't), what does his sermon have to do with this White House? This is the same preacher who ministered to other presidents over the years, including republican ones. And yet we are hearing from republicans that this particular president actually "inspires racism." (That was not a joke. A popular republican actually said that.) I hope that when reflecting on president Obama's eight years in office, they will actually see the irony of that statement.
Still, this is all so sad. In the age of Obama all white men are victims. They find themselves having to defend their whiteness, or they complain about being left out. Being white in America has gotten to be such a drag, lately.
Finally, a big shout out to my girl Nordette for turning me on to this story and keeping it alive.
If it wasn't for black bloggers like Nordette stories like this would not get told or get as much shine as they should.
Don't worry Nordette, as soon as the rest of the main stream media picks up on it Rev. Al and company will be around. It just takes them all a little longer to catch up.
Let us hope that there is justice for the family of Brian Harris when this is all over.
