The Dow drops, Amy helps, and Michele is still crazy.

Wall Street, you are killing me! Folks, I might not even finish this post. It all depends on how long it takes a bottle of valium to kick in. Even Mrs. Field is worried, and girlfriend never looks over her 401K statements.

Anywhoo, I know who will be first in line to see The Help this summer: My girl Amy Holmes. Seems girlfriend has found a new gig being the help to a very deranged and racist antagonist. But there will be no acrimony from me towards Amy tonight. I wish girlfriend all the best. Times are hard out here and folks have to get their eat on. Good for Glenn Beckkk. He found his own version of Obama. Like O, one of Amy's parents is a black African and one is a white A-merry-can. Unlike O, however, she was not born in this country; Amy was born in Africa. But I am sure that Glenn will pick her brain to learn more about Obama. She will be a valuable asset come 2012.

I see that Jon Stewart has come out and ripped Newsweek for their latest issue with Michele Bachmann on the cover.[See pic with this post] They have been taking a lot of heat for it. Apparently folks say it makes her look crazy. Ahhhhm, excuse me, she is crazy. Was the photo of her doctored? The answer is no. I think it does a wonderful job of capturing who Mrs. Bachmann really is. So Jon, take a chill pill and go back to fighting the clowns over at FOX.  Sometimes you can be a bit too voluble for your own good.

Besides, it's not even about the Newsweek cover; it's more about what was revealed in the actual article:

"One of the more interesting tidbits to be discussed about GOP presidential front-runner Michelle Bachmann in the current issue of the New Yorker is that one of the books she kept listed on her website as a “must read” was a biography of Robert E. Lee by J. Steven Wilkins. Wilkins is a revisionist historian that seeks to downplay or even glorify the Souths’ tradition of slavery. From the book:
Slavery, as it operated in the pervasively Christian society which was the old South, was not an adversarial relationship founded upon racial animosity. In fact, it bred on the whole, not contempt, but, over time, mutual respect. This produced a mutual esteem of the sort that always results when men give themselves to a common cause. The credit for this startling reality must go to the Christian faith. . . The unity and companionship that existed between the races in the South prior to the war was the fruit of a common faith.
Got that? Because Africans were forcibly converted to Christianity, they didn’t mind being slaves at all but rather worked extra hard to enrich their white owners. For Jesus. This is the rising star of the GOP. If you are even contemplating voting for this woman, you are a goddamn idiot." [Source]

OK, so Justin Rosario was a little harsh, but I get the point.

Hmmm, maybe Ms. Bachmann wasn't so glad that the "Founding Fathers" ended slavery after all.

Finally, good for Lucy Nobbe. Ms. Nobbe dropped $900 to fly a banner over Wall Street to let the bums in New York and Washington know how the rest of us feel about their shenanigans.

Ms. Nobbe, your actions had Field Negro written all over it.

moldy asks:

Tell me young boy, how many slaves are in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Belarus, Germany, France....

What century?

In the 20th century there were millions of slaves in Germany. But slavery ended there when we bombed the country into rubble.

Silly, I don't blog. I do work. You should not assume everyone does the same tasks. Even where you draw a paycheck there might be differing positions and job descriptions.
If it helps, think senior executive.

Snort...the slaves were held by Capitalists. Care to Google? Just because the name of the Party was National Socialist...it does not mean it was Socialist. It does show promise as the intellectual parent of the TaxBaggers. Thuggery, intimidation of citizens, and the equating Libruls with Jews as the cause of all the woes of Gooberdom.

Bachmann is still batpoo crazy. Her entire legislative career is one of being on the Federal dole. She also is a submissive, subservient servant to closeted Marcus.

"We have a right to an attorney...funny how none are 'slaves'."

We have a right to pay an attorney to represent us, or to have the government pay for an attorney should we plead poverty. This is an affirmation of our right in a free society that the government cannot violate. The attorney is free to accept or decline provision of services at his discretion. He is not compelled to provide these services at a price dictated by the buyer.

Obamacare creates a system where the provider is compelled to provide services at price dictated by the buyer (the government). This is a form of slavery-lite.

Socialism creates bogus rights that erode true rights.

In a just society, you do not have rights that infringe on the natural rights of others.

If you have a "right" to housing, you have a "right" to to the labor of the carpenter and to the property of the landlord.

If you have a "right" to food than you have a claim on the labor of the farmer.

A decent society provides for those in need, but not at the expense of fundamental liberties.

There's no such thing as 'slavery-lite' numbnuts.

There's slavery, where people get paid nothing for hard work, have no free will, and have no human rights.

(You know, how America got rich...)

And there's paying doctors a fair wage to do the job they signed up to do. If they don't like it, they are free to go an do something else.

Proper health care is a fundamental human right, essential to human freedom. In a decent society health care is free at the point of delivery.

Decent hard-working people who are bankrupted by health care bills from multi billion dollar corporations do not live in a decent society.

Slavery is when people work without free will, without pay, and without human rights or dignity.

(you know, the way America and Britain got rich..)

Under Obamacare doctors will be paid a very decent wage to do the job they signed up to do. Strangely the hippocratic oath makes no mention of the need for doctors to increase corporate profits.

These doctors will not be slaves because they will be free to go off and do anything they like. Work down a coal mine, flip burgers, anything at all.

Health care is a fundamental human right, essential ti human freedom, that's why in a just society health care must be free at the point of delivery.

Decent hard-working people who are bankrupted by medical bills from billion dollar companies do not live in a decent, fair or just society.

And at that point at 00:43 in the morning I'm off to bed, I'll bid you all a fond adieu.

Anon good point about helping folks who don't help themselves.

Sometimes we don't do all we need and we get sometimes things we don't deserve as well.

It all works out in the end. The point is we should look for those who don't have, the haves already have what they need. So of course you get your blessings by helping those who have not.

Natural rights? Heard that one before. Somehow it places Goober whines above the public good.
So if the government sets a price...it must be eveel...because it was done by gubmint.
What does Natural Rights say about inheriting debt? Or the ability of monopolies and oligopolies to set prices? They loves the business that cuts your profit...as it is done by much more moral business.

So slavery was an institution based on mutual respect?? So, selling off one's children, spouse, forbidding you to learn to read, along with raping and brutalizing you was an okay thing? Ah, okay. Glad that's cleared up now.

"You know the old African saying....."It takes a village to eat a pygmy".

That must be a small village. Why don't you send them Governor Christie?
