Lost in Philly.

Image result for philadelphia images I didn't want to go out at lunchtime today, cause it was just too damn hot, and, frankly, I don't really like crowds that much. And in case you have been living under a rock for the past few days, thanks to the DNC, there are some large crowds in Philly these days.

So anyway, on my way back to the office from my quick lunch run, I was stopped by a group of older white women who were obviously lost, and who wondered if I could point them in the right direction to a popular destination for tourists in our city.

I grabbed their map, smiled kindly, and proceeded to go over everything that I thought they needed to know. I kept up my Philly tutorial until I was sure that they knew exactly how they were going to get to their destination.

They thanked me over and over again, and before they left, I asked them where they were from. They told me that they were all from Tennessee, and for all but one of them it was their first visit to Philadelphia. They said that they were having a wonderful time, and that everyone had been really friendly and  kind.

Philly sometimes gets a bad rap for rudeness, so it was nice to meet some folks whose experiences went against the perception.

I gave each one them a business card, and told them that if they found themselves in any trouble that they should not hesitate to give me a call. [Southern accent] "Well we plan to party for the rest of the week so we might just take you up on that". *Laughter all around.*

They were all such nice ladies. Now I am glad that I went out of my building for lunch and bonded with the ladies from Tennessee.

I know I know, some of you are waiting for that cynical hook that sometimes accompany my posts, but tonight there will be none.

That's it. That's my blog post tonight. Just a wonderful experience with some older ladies from the South.

I always give good directions to folks who don't know their way around, because I remember how hard it was getting around when I first moved here. That can be tricky because a lot of people are scared of Oakland because of what they've heard about it, but having been a delivery driver helps with making directions they feel like they can trust.

Of course the DNC would bring more classy people than the RNC. Democrats bring class, Republicans bring trash.

The people in Tennessee seem unusually hospitable and nice.

And with that lying bitch, Elizabeth Warren, God Help Us, Trump better be glad he isn't running against Bill Clinton.

The list of Hillary's fuck-ups go on & on forever.

But. Don't pay attention.

Best thing that happened was that lisping Wasserman-Schultz got canned.

Of course, Hillary automatically hired her on on in her campaign. And, then , Bernie, who screamed for her removal, endorses the Hildebeast.

Bernie, who called Hillary "Totally Incompetent" to be the Commander In Chief.

The Dems will win, because they have too many poor, stupid, people voting for them.

Encounter with Tennessee ladies has to be one of the most endearing stories of the week!

"Philadelphia, Get to Know Us" sung by Patti LaBelle - now a remake in the form of Mr. Field.

Anon@Anon@11:46 and Lance, I thought of deleting your comments, but then I thought to myself:why not just leave their ignorance on display for all to see?

Well. I'm glad to see my post @ 5:40 wasn't deleted!

Hard to refute. But, that's never stopped you from making a diversion.

Maybe, you should try-out for a Defensive coach for your sorry Iggles.

Your blog, your rules. But the ref'd commenters and others have already displayed their ignorance on many occasions. Might you consider no longer allowing anonymous comments? Pretty please?

I concur with Mystere @9:24am... Regarding internet trolls a/k/a anons and of the Lance Cockstrong variety, the downside to not deleting obscene posts (IMO) are the number of thoughtful bloggers who no longer contribute because of the hateful or excrement-filled comments.

Not to mention, it's a major annoyance having to distinguish between the two "Lances," one of which provides the kind of commentary that's thought-provoking and informative.

It's nice to read stories like this at a time when everybody is at each other's throats. Gives one hope for the future of the country.

@Field: "Mustere, will consider, but censorship goes against everything I stand for."

Denying someone a forum or a platform from which to insult others has nothing to do with "censorship," but everything to do with providing a civil and respectful space for the expression of one's opinions and ideas.

If it's their aim to insult others, nothing is preventing these verbal abusers from doing it from the freedom of their own blog, providing themselves with a platform that others might deny them.

As one of the primary targets of the ignorance spewed on this blog, I don't care one way or the other if you censor them or not.

Put another way, it's YOUR blog run it however you want.

Anonymous said...

I don't care either! I also wouldn't want to miss out on the many great comments by many Anons!

This being an election year, I say put it to the vote! ;)

It's a fair representation of the many small/feeble minded people one encounters in the real world, so those comments I either counter or ignore as it fancies me.

As for the very foul language ones, if he spots them Field usually deletes them anyway so it doesn't matter :)

I read the comment, I really don't care what the authors name is or isn't. It's the words that I respond to anyway.

@Field: Clearly it's your blog, Field, and you can do with it as you choose, but you're not obligated to provide a space, platform, or forum for everybody who comes here, just as Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC are obligated to provide a platform for my opinions, comments, and ideas.

Providing a platform is a REAL stretch, IMHO because I think one has to decide what they want to focus on.

The thoughtful commentary regularly presented here or the comments better suited for a Campylobacter jejuni infected pit of human excrement.

Personally, I LOVE the reminders that I'm supremely blessed with superior academic acumen, and emotional/mental/personal/economic stability!!!
