"Fascist In Chief"?

The Field Negro education series continues:

"As we reported this morning, President Obama is considering bypassing Congress in order to implement further gun control measures, and the conservative media wasted no time in going after our ruthless dictator.

Sitting behind an emboldened red banner and vibrant ‘ALERT’ notification, Fox host Gregg Jarrett opened his segment by criticizing the President’s actions. He said, “After the Sandy Hook shooting, the President took 23 executive actions against guns. None of them have prevented things like Oregon or Charleston.”

WHAT? 23 executive orders? That’s so insane that Obama should qualify for the very mental health treatment that the right wants to push over gun control.

I sat stunned at this revelation dramatically pushed by Jarrett. 23 seems like a lot; no wonder Sarah Palin once decried our President’s move on an executive order as “giving the middle finger” to voters.

Regarding a different Obama executive action, House Speaker John Boehner said, “President Obama has cemented his legacy of lawlessness”; he once even threatened a law suit. Charles Krauthammer considered it an “impeachable offence.”

This year Texas Republican Representative Lamar Smith told Fox’s Stuart Varney, “This is a President who has, in an unprecedented way, used executive orders, executive actions, to go around Congress.”

I did some digging, and found that our Fascist In Chief has issued a whopping 219 executive orders during his time as President. The right is right: this man is out of control.

If there is any element of this deemed admissible to the argument of precedent, it is not in the quantitive data, especially the emphasis on “23” by Jarrett today. But in case anyone is confused about the role of executive action in regards to the Presidency, I pulled a few other stats regarding these mandates by the numbers. Care to see?

George W. Bush issued 291 executive orders.

Richard Nixon, 346.

Republican poster boy Ronald Reagan? 381.

Perhaps the Republicans would have preferred Obama act more like William Henry Harrison, who is the only Commander in Chief in US History to never issue an executive order.
He also died a month after his inauguration.

Dwight D. Eisehower, the President that Republicans tend to disown because of his sky high tax rates on the wealthy, issued 484 executive actions in office.

The Emancipation Proclamation? An executive order by Abraham Lincoln.

The only reason we have the Grand Canyon to enjoy is because Teddy Roosevelt issued an executive order to protect it in 1906. He would add 1,080 more.

And President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the leader who healed our country when our fractured economic and social climates most matched that of today, issued a whopping 3,522 executive orders. His Civilian Conservation Corps was Executive Order 6101 signed April 5, 1933. (Also, his policies that fixed our broken country were largely socialist in nature, but that’s a column for another day.)
Lincoln, Reagan, Teddy, FDR, and Bush, all “dictators” under contemporary conservative logic.
President Obama has long referred to his own executive orders by the moniker “the pen and the phone”, and may increase his right to this power to combat the finally-politicized epidemic of gun violence. In fact, he could issue an executive order every single day for the rest of his Presidency and still only total about half as many as Republican Calvin Coolidge did.

The practice of going around a stubborn Congress to get things done in Washington isn’t “unprecedented”, it’s the status quo. And despite what you may be told, the fact remains: this President has so far landed well under his allotted quota." [Source]

Tyrant!!

Finally, remember that Ben Carson Popeye's story? If you don't you are not alone, apparently the Baltimore police department does not remember it ever happening, either.

"A Carson spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment Thursday or for more details as to when and where the incident occurred.

Baltimore Police said Thursday that they could not find any report related to the incident based on the little information that Carson had provided.

"We searched for it and based on the general statement, we have no report," said T.J. Smith, the department's chief spokesman. "Need more info."

Dr. Ben, of course, insists that he was stuck up in Popeye's.

The Baltimore police is looking into the incident so we will not rush to judgment. That's not what we do hear at the Field Negro blog. We believe in giving everyone a chance to prove that they are not a liar.

Yes Carly, even you.

Goodbye Pope Francis, Philly enjoyed having you. Goodbye John, your fellow Republicans did not enjoy you.

Image result for philly pope Ben Franklin images       I would like to take this time to say goodbye to Pope Francis. It was nice having you here for a couple of days, and you certainly seemed to inspire the faithful.

I know that some business folks are complaining, but I think Philly shined big time for a  national  and international audience.

I got a lot of e-mails and texts from friends who are not from here, who were surprised at how beautiful the Benjamin Franklin Parkway looked for the festivities. (For those of you who have ever traveled to Paris, I think that you will agree with me that it [The Parkway] is the closest thing that you will find to the  Champs-Élysées. )

Image result for philly pope Ben Franklin imagesAnyway, I hope that American politricksters take heed to the big guy's message of inclusiveness and love.

“I ask you not to forget that, like those who came here before you, you bring many gifts to your new nation. You should never be ashamed of your traditions,” the pope said. “I repeat, do not be ashamed of what is part of you, your lifeblood.”

Yo Donald, check the polls. This Pope guy is stealing your thunder.

Anyway, the Pope certainly inspired John Boehner to find his religion and make some life changing moves. Now the devout Catholic is calling out his fellow wingnut politicians for being  "false prophets".

"But the Bible says "Beware of false prophets." There are people out there spreading the noise about how much can get done. This whole idea that we're going to shut down the government to get rid of Obamacare in 2013, that plan never had a chance."

Oh my! Those are strong words from the outgoing speaker.  It's a shame it took a message from His Holiness to make him see the light.  Now it's too little too late. His legacy has already been tarnished.

Finally, let me end this post with some breaking news: Carly Fiorina just had a stage collapse at a campaign event in Texas.

Calm down Mr. Trump, everyone seems to be alright. You're going to have Carly to contend with for the next few months.

Doing good among those who don't.

I don't know how my man Francis does it. Dude has to be pushing 80 and he is acting like he plays guitar for the Rolling Stones or something. They are the only other septuagenarian who can rock so many crowds and keep going like this. Washington. Congress. The UN. Harlem. Madison Square Garden. Philly. And crowds in the hundreds of thousands out in the streets just trying to get a glimpse of him, while he just keeps going like the Energizer Bunny with that perpetual smile on his face.

Anyway, he will be here in Philly tonight. Unfortunately he might have the city all to himself. Damn near everyone who lives in the city has left town or vowed not to venture anywhere near Center City.

I have my fingers crossed that the Mayor's plan to shut the city down doesn't backfire. I am looking at Washington and New York and folks are coming out in droves to show love.  I have heard that we are expecting a million or so saints.  Right now we are just "praying" that they come.

"Heading into the final week before the pope’s U.S. trip, hotels in Philadelphia had more than 1,000 rooms available. Regional transit agency SEPTA had sold only about a third of its papal visit rail passes, and the southern New Jersey commuter rail, PATCO, less than a sixth.
And a plan to turn Fairmount Park, one of the largest urban green spaces in the nation, into “Francis Fields” campground was scrapped due to a lack of interest." [Source]

Y'all better come out and show Francis some love. The Eagles are 0-2 for crying out loud!

Speaking of showing Francis love, my man has been getting love everywhere he goes. He talked about Dr. King's I Have A Dream speech in East Harlem, and seemed to be more at ease with poor people, immigrants, and children than he was with all those dignitaries in Washington and at the United Nations. That's my kind of guy.

Speaking of dignitaries in Washington, one of them decided to make a life changing decision after meeting the Pope, yesterday.

"WASHINGTON — It took a visit from the pope, a brewing conservative rebellion, and a good night’s sleep for John Boehner — the son of a bartender and a devout Catholic from Cincinnati — to decide that Friday morning was the right moment for him to end his tumultuous five-year speakership and bring his 25-year career in Congress to a close.

“This morning, I woke up and I said my prayers and I decided today’s the day I’m going to this,” Boehner told reporters in an emotional news conference on Friday afternoon, a few hours after he stunned Washington by announcing that he planned to resign, effective Oct. 30. “It’s as simple as that.”

But of course, it was not that simple.

Boehner disclosed his decision less than 24 hours after he reveled in the first-ever papal speech to a joint session of Congress, something he has dreamed of for 20 years — and as the government was on the verge of another shutdown, with Boehner's fractious caucus battling over a bill to fund the government beyond Sept. 30."

Poor John. As usual he got all weepy, but those might be tears of joy because he doesn't have to deal with some of the lunatics in his party anymore. They actually cheered at a big republican conference when the "faithful" heard that he was on his way out, and some of the republican candidates for president couldn't wait to kick him in the ass as he went out the door.

I suppose that they are all still mad that they couldn't stop the Socialist in Chief from getting two terms and getting his way with some significant pieces of legislation.

Now we know, of course, that they started plotting on inauguration night.

"WASHINGTON -- As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington.

The event -- which provides a telling revelation for how quickly the post-election climate soured -- serves as the prologue of Robert Draper's much-discussed and heavily-reported new book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives."

According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith. Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) -- who, Draper writes, had an acrimonious relationship with Luntz.
For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama's legislative platform." [Source]

Forgive them father, for they know not what they do.

Mr. Boehner, Mr. McConnell, you should have been there.

Image result for selma imagesIt was nice to see all those folks going back to Selma to relive that bloody and horrible day in America's history some fifty years ago.

I watched the activities on MSNBC today, and seeing all those people coming together to say never again was a beautiful thing.

I saw all those people, but there were some very important people who unfortunately I did not see.

"Another day, another political leader (or two) failing to grasp the very simple concept of optics and symbolism.

Today’s what-the-hell-were-you-thinking winners are Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as it pertains to their respective no-shows to the 50th anniversary of the march on Selma. Did House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) attend? Yes. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus? Yes. Former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush? Yes. Do all of these GOPers being in attendance mean Boehner and McConnell are excused for not taking a day to show unity around a truly historic event in our nation’s tumultuous history on race relations?

Absolutely not. Nor does it excuse Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid for not attending, nor the second and third ranking Senate Democrats (Dick Durbin of Illinois and Chuck Schumer of New York) from blowing it off, either. But Boehner and McConnell are the focus here, and here’s why:

Optics is a topic that has been discussed before on this space, particularly as it pertains to President Obama and ill-advised tee times.

Note: As a fellow southpaw on the links and one who can appreciate the stress relief golf can provide regardless of score (I shot 62 this morning…on the front nine), nobody is begrudging someone with as stressful a job as Mr. Obama owns from getting away from it all for a few hours. It’s not exactly a new thing either: Democratic President Woodrow Wilson reportedly played 1200 rounds of golf.

Republican President Dwight Eisenhower racked up around 800. Nixon loved it. So did Clinton. Party is irrelevant. With Mr. Obama (who has played over 200 rounds, which suddenly looks relatively small), the issue around optics is not around playing golf, but the timing of certain outings…particularly last summer when he was on the first tee less than 20 minutes after a statement on American Jim Foley’s beheading by ISIS, and especially for not going to Paris following terror attacks there when many other world leaders found the time.

In Boehner’s and McConnell’s case, each appears to at least be wise enough to leave the clubs in the garage this weekend (especially Boehner–a scratch golfer). But that doesn’t make the optic of two-thirds of government leadership not being in Selma yesterday any less embarrassing for the Grand Old Party..." [Source]

I disagree with the writer. This is much more than just "optics". This is personal to us black folks.

The two leaders of the republican party not being in Selma is a personal affront to every person of color in this country.

Republicans say that they want to reach out to minorities, but this is not how you do it. Talk is cheap.
Show us that you are sincere by showing up in places like Selma.

I have a lot of issues with George W. Bush, but I give him credit for showing up in Selma.

Unfortunately, the current leaders in his party are causing folks like Colin Powell to say the following:

“I still see it in the Republican Party,” Powell said. “And I still see it in other parts of our country. You don’t have to be Republican to be touched by this dark vein.”

“America is still going through this transformation from where we were 50, 60 years ago,” Powell said.

“You have to remember it was just 60 or 70 years ago that we still had poll taxes, that we still had literacy tests in order to vote, that voting places were only open two days a week for African Americans. So we’ve come a long way, but we still have a long way to go.”

I don't think that people like John Boehner and  Mitch McConnell share the sentiments of Colin Powell.

To them, we have already arrived.

No money to protect us, and Idaho says no to a "hate crime".

Image result for boehner imagesIt is less than comforting to know that one of the two major political parties in this country is willing to let the funding to secure our homeland go begging at the end of this month.

Their leader, John Boehner, told us so.

"BOEHNER: Chris, Chris, one more time -- the House has done its job under the Constitution. It's time for the Senate to do their job.

Listen, I've got a tough job here. So does Senator McConnell. But Senate Democrats are the ones standing in the way; they're the ones jeopardizing funding. Why don't they get on the bill and offer amendment, offer their ideas? Let's see what the Senate can do.

WALLACE: And what if the Department of Homeland Security funding runs out?
BOEHNER: Well, then, Senate Democrats should to be blame. Very simply.
WALLACE: And you're prepared to let that happen?

BOEHNER: Certainly. The House has acted. We've done our job."

No you haven't done your job. There. Is. Still. No. Money. For. DHS.

And yes, I blame the dems as well. You all need to lock yourselves in a room and don't come out until you have a deal on this very important issue.

It never ceased to amaze me how all these politicians can get on television and pontificate about how weak Obama is when it comes to fighting terror and how we need to double down on terrorist at home and abroad, and yet they won't come together to pass legislation to fund the very agency that is charged with protecting us.

Speaking of not coming together, tonight my racism chase takes me to Idaho; not for potatoes or blue football fields, but to see how our  "post -racial' country is doing in a state that is not exactly known for its love for the Negro.

What we have learned is that it's very tough to prosecute someone for a hate crime in Idaho.

"Beau Hansen, 31, and Jonathan Henery, 29, are not guilty of hate crimes under a federal law passed in 2009, a jury announced Friday morning.

The two men were involved in a beating at the Torch 2 club early on the morning of Oct. 20, 2013. Prosecutors alleged that they attacked Derrick Lewis simply because he was black, screaming racial epithets. Hansen and Henery questioned the veracity of some of the witnesses and acknowledged being in the fight, but said race was not a factor.

If convicted, the defendants had each faced up to 10 years in prison. The all-white jury of seven women and five men began deliberations Thursday afternoon.

The two men responsible for a beating at the Torch 2 club targeted the victim simply because he was black, a prosecutor told a jury Thursday as he asked them to convict the men of a federal hate crime.

Beau Hansen, 31, and Jonathan Henery, 29, hit Derrick Lewis repeatedly in what Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Lucoff described as an unprovoked attack. Hansen and Henery are white, Lewis is black. All three are from Boise.

Eight people who were at the club in the early morning hours of Oct. 20, 2013, testified that they heard Hansen and Henery yell racial slurs at Lewis, Lucoff said.

"They called this man (a racial epithet) many times. There is no better evidence of why these men beat Derrick Lewis," Lucoff said.

Defense attorneys in their closing statements following seven days of testimony said there was no evidence Hansen or Henery were racists, and they denied their clients yelled any slurs. They each had black friends since childhood and served time with other blacks in prison without incident, attorneys Mark Ackley and Thomas Dominick said.

"When I think of a racist, I think that intolerance goes across the board," Ackley told jurors.
Dominick agreed: "Is racism something you just turn on and off? Use your common sense."

If convicted, the defendants face up to 10 years each in prison. The all-white jury of seven women and five men began deliberations Thursday afternoon. Jurors must reach a unanimous decision to acquit or convict."[Source] (h/t to Robin for this story)

An all white jury in Idaho convict a white man for a hate crime? That was never going to happen. I don't care what the facts were. Still, these two angels will get theirs one day. It's just a matter of time.

Finally, look at this video and tell me that if this was a black man talking to the police this way he would still be alive.  Shout out to my twitter fam, Son of  Baldwin, for the link.

Misery in Brazil, and impeachment fever heats up.

Man it must suck to be Brazilian tonight. They love their soccer football in Brazil, and they are damn good at it. But I saw the beat down they took from the Germans earlier today, and it was hard to watch.

I have been watching the "beautiful game" for a long time and I have never seen anything like this. Not on such a stage.

I feel for all the Brazilian fans who live and die with their soccer, but given the size of that country and their passion for the game, I am sure that they will bounce back. And, as my twitter fam @pourmecoffee wrote, "A lot of pain-deadening sex going on in Brazil right now. Expect an April baby boom."

Yep.

Finally, I don't know what this Obama fellow did to these white republican women, but they are seriously calling for his impeachment right now.

"Sarah Palin might have called for the impeachment of President Barack Obama Tuesday, but Iowa Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst actually beat her to the punch by six months.

At a Montgomery County, Iowa, candidate forum in January, Ernst told a crowd that she believed Obama had “become a dictator” and that he needed to face the consequences for his executive actions, “whether that’s removal from office, whether that’s impeachment.”

The video, which was previously described to Yahoo News by a source, was posted, removed and then posted again online at AOL. Yahoo News was able to view a cached version of the previously unpublished video before it went live. The clip shows the January Montgomery County GOP Forum in Red Oak, Iowa. The Ernst campaign tweeted out a photograph of the forum Jan. 15.

Ernst was asked what “punishment” Obama should suffer if the Supreme Court ruled against him in a then-pending case on the constitutionality of his recess appointments, and what she would do as a senator to stop his “blatant abuse of power.” The Supreme Court has since ruled against the administration in that case.

“I do think that yes, he should face those repercussions, and whether that's removal from office, whether that's impeachment,” said Ernst, who is supported by the establishment and the tea party wings of her party in her quest to succeed retiring Sen. Tom Harkin, a Democrat.

“As a U.S. senator, though, we have to push that issue, we can't be silent on things like that,” she said. “And unfortunately we have a number of legislators right now that simply let these things happen. [Source]

Well just keep pushing John Boehner and others girlfriend, maybe they will come around to actually going for the I- word instead of impeachment light, also known as an unwinnable lawsuit.

Unfortunately for the Speaker, it's such an exercise in futility that even members of his own party see through it.

But Mr. Boehner, bless his heart, is trying to protect his neck. He saw what the crazy right did to his running buddy, Eric Cantor, and he does not want to suffer the same fate.

"Presidential powers" are only for certain presidents.

Congrats to the USA for making it through the "group of death" and on to the next round of the World Cup. I just watched the game against Germany. (I am home, and this has nothing to do with the World Cup being on. I just happen to feel a bit under the weather....) They were outclassed on a wet pitch by a better German team. Still, even though they lost the game they won the battle.

So anyway, "the man" continues to try to show the Negro in the White House who is really in charge.

In a test run to find out the mood for an impeachment battle, John Boehner and his pals are planning to sue the president. And today the supremes ruled that the Negro in chief is forgetting his place here in America.

"The US Supreme Court today limited a president's power to make recess appointments when the White House and the Senate are controlled by opposite parties, scaling back a presidential authority as old as the republic.
The case arose from a political dispute between President Obama and Senate Republicans, who claimed he had no authority to put three people on the National Labor Relations Board in January 2012 when the Senate was out of town.

He used a president's power, granted by the Constitution, to "fill up all vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate." But the Republicans said the Senate was not in recess at the time the appointments were made, because every three days a senator went into the chamber, gaveled it to order, and then immediately called a recess. " [Source]

Oh my! Mr. President I feel your pain. What you have to understand is that rules that apply to other presidents do not necessarily apply to you.

As for the lawsuit, well.....

"In response, White House press secretary Josh Earnest accused congressional Republicans of obstruction and said they had left Obama with little option but to make greater use of his executive authority.

"The fact that they are considering a taxpayer-funded lawsuit against the president of the United States for doing his job, I think, is the kind of step that most Americans wouldn't support," Earnest said.

The suit would be filed on behalf of the House and its mere existence would likely set off a partisan struggle. Three Republicans and two Democrats comprise a bipartisan group charged with overseeing House legal matters.
The group must meet to approve filing a suit on behalf of the House, and a party-line vote is all but certain.

Boehner strongly brushed aside a question of whether impeachment proceedings could result from the suit. "This is not about impeachment. This is about his (Obama's) faithfully executing the laws of our country," he said."

When a politician like John Boehner says that something isn't about something; you just know that it is about that something.

Still, I think I speak for quite a few people in this country and say, bring it on.

White lines for the white party.

How many other people in congress are getting high and snorting coke?

They sure as hell govern like they are high down there.

Anyway, they have each other's back. (It's amazing how selective outrage can be.)  Now comes word that speaker Boehner will not punish Trey Radal for turning his DC digs into a trap house.

Of course Mr. Boehner can't take the high road with this one, because he has some problems of his own. But hey, we won't go there. We all have our demons.

“I’m profoundly sorry to let down my family, particularly my wife and son, and the people of Southwest Florida,” he said. “I struggle with the disease of alcoholism, and this led to an extremely irresponsible choice. As the father of a young son and a husband to a loving wife, I need to get help so I can be a better man for both of them.

Thank you Mr. Boehner Radel.

The first step towards recovery is recognizing that you have a problem.

Speaking of having a problem, his Oness certainly has one with his ACA roll out. No doubt there have been bumps along the way, but it could (and should) get better.

Still, what I want to know is this: What is the republican plan to fix health care in this country? And what, exactly, is their alternative to Obamacare? It's gotten so bad that FOX News now has to ask the very same question.

This is the party leader's answer to that question:

“I think you have to repeal the whole law and then you take whatever parts are most needed, like pre-existing conditions and things like that,” Priebus told Fox.
“Sure, but what is the Republican plan?” Camerota asked. “Yes, there are little things that you like — pre-existing conditions, obviously, buying insurance across state lines. So what is that plan called by the Republicans?”
“I’m going to answer the question,” Priebus briefly stymied before explaining:
I think it’s really important for people to understand that there is nothing wrong, whatsoever, for being totally opposed to Obamacare, which most people in this country don’t want. There’s nothing wrong with being opposed to something that is ruining people’s lives. So we are 100% opposed to it, and we will always be opposed to it so long as it’s as much as a disaster as it is.
After that, Reibus noted that “Democrats jammed [the GOP] with Obamacare” and wouldn’t listen to any of the “few, good solid ideas” they had for the healthcare law."

Mr. Reibus, we are all ears.............

Anna's News and John's lies.

These last few days have been tough for the folks over at Der Angriff . This government shutdown stuff is not a good look for their peeps and they have been going to great lengths to change the narrative or to paint O and his administration in a bad light.

It's gotten so bad that they are taking Onion style stories as gospel.

"Fox News host Anna Kooiman apologized on Sunday for reporting a story from a satirical news site.

On Saturday, the co-host of Fox & Friends Saturday was talking about the government shutdown when she said President Barack Obama had offered to personally pay for a "museum of Muslim culture" while the Republican National Committee was willing to pay to keep war memorials open.

"It really doesn't seem fair, especially -- and we're going to talk a little bit later in the show too about some things that are continuing to be funded. And President Obama has offered to pay for the museum of Muslim culture out of his own pocket, yet it's the Republican National Committee who's paying for this," Kooiman said.

A fake news story about Obama offering to personally pay to keep the "International Museum of Muslim Culture" open during the shutdown was posted on the satirical site National Report last week.
Kooiman tweeted out an apology on Sunday." [Source]

What an idiot! But we have come to expect this type of journalism foolishness that we have come to expect from the television cable network that caters to low IQ voters.

The truly sad part of this story is that real people have been hurt by the actions of this clown.

Down in Mississippi the real folks at the International Museum of Muslim Cultures have been swamped with calls ("some of them disturbing") about Obama being a funding source for their operation.

But this is what they do over at FOX: Fire up their ignorant and benighted base (thanks for the Bigfoot news), and then step back to watch the sparks fly. Sometimes literally.

Finally, maybe there is something about tanning salons that causes people to stretch the truth a little bit. I am thinking about House Speaker, John Boehner, and his CR lie over the weekend.

He declared on national television this Sunday that there was not enough votes to get a clean CR (continuing resolution) bill passed in the house, when everyone in Washington with knowledge of the situation (including members of his own party) says that there is.

This, of course, is all kind of scary. I mean the man is the leader of the House of Representatives for crying out loud.

"The votes are there, but Boehner is preventing a vote from happening. He is lying about the votes not being there. He is preventing a vote from happening unless he gets his way. He is flouting the voters, who just re-elected President Obama, and he flouting the majority in his own chamber of Congress, by not allowing that majority to express its will. He is holding the government and the economy hostage. It is political extortion:"

But this is what the FOX crowd wants. They are cheering in the Gaue right now.

Monday, September 30, 2013

The shutdown train is coming.

"Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan joined editorial board member Mary Kissel on Monday where she advised President Barack Obama to give in to the GOP’s latest demands in order to pass a resolution which continue to fund the government.

She said that it would be “wise” of the president to agree to an 11 month delay of the Affordable Care Act in order to fix its flaws and sell the American people on the law’s benefits.
Noonan began by observing that Obama is not quick to appeal to the negotiating table when dealing with the Republicans in Congress.
“I think the president, at least in the early years of his presidency, had this sense that if he talked straight to the American people, he would be doing a [Ronald] Reagan or a [Richard] Nixon,” Noonan said. “This president has often tried to do that, but it doesn’t work. It’s almost as if things are stuck.”

When asked how Obama could resolve this crisis, Noonan said that it would be “wise” to partially capitulate to the GOP’s demand to delay the ACA by nearly one year. "

Here is hoping that Barack Obama is not listening to Peggy Noonan or any other republican right about now.

There is a reason for that. Their political instincts are just not that good.

"Of all people, Obama would know if he is in trouble. When it comes to national presidential races, he is a finely tuned political instrument: He read the field perfectly in 2008. He would know if he’s losing now, and it would explain his joylessness on the stump. He is out there doing what he has to to fight the fight. But he’s still trying to fire up the base when he ought to be wooing the center and speaking their calm centrist talk. His crowds haven’t been big. His people have struggled to fill various venues.

This must hurt the president after the trememdous, stupendous crowds of ’08. “Voting’s the best revenge”—revenge against who, and for what? This is not a man who feels himself on the verge of a grand victory. His campaign doesn’t seem president-sized. It is small and sad and lost, driven by formidable will and zero joy.

I suspect both Romney and Obama have a sense of what’s coming, and it’s part of why Romney looks so peaceful and Obama so roiled.  Romney ends most rallies with his story of the Colorado scout troop that in 1986 had an American flag put in the space shuttle Challenger, saw the Challenger blow up as they watched on TV, and then found, through the persistence of their scoutmaster, that the flag had survived the explosion. It was returned to them by NASA officials. When Romney, afterward, was shown the flag, he touched it, and an electric jolt went up his arm. It’s a nice story. He doesn’t make its meaning fully clear. But maybe he means it as a metaphor for America: It can go through a terrible time, a catastrophe, as it has economically the past five years, and still emerge whole, intact, enduring.  Maybe that’s what the coming Romney moment is about: independents, conservatives, Republicans, even some Democrats, thinking: We can turn it around, we can work together, we can right this thing, and he can help." [Source]

Thank you Peggy, the fact that you have not been banished to an island with no running water just goes to show you how stupid some folks are in this country.

Anyway, I see that shutdown train coming down the tracks, and President Obama should not do anything to stop it. It was the republicans who hijacked it and pushed the engineer from the controls. Now they own every part of this looming disaster from the controls to the caboose.

Besides, his signature domestic legislative achievement will be going through no matter what.

Still, in less than four hours bad things will start to happen. We won't notice it right away, but eventually we will. I feel for the folks who are facing furlough and uncertainty with their jobs. Sadly, thanks to the 27th Amendment, the clowns in Washington who set this shutdown train in motion will not have to worry about getting paid. (Senor Cruz has already said that he will continue to cash his check.) Maybe if they did they would not have been so quick to climb up on this phony moral high ground that they are standing on.

"Speaker of the House John Boehner accused Harry Reid and other Senate Democrats of “breathtaking arrogance” for intentionally not convening a Sunday session to deal with compromise legislation to stop a government shutdown.
“The House worked late into the night Saturday to prevent a government shutdown, and the Senate now must move quickly, today, to do the same,” Boehner said Sunday."

Oh shut up tan man, the bars in D.C. will still be open, so you will be fine.

It takes an "arrogant nigger" to marry the Speaker's daughter.

I would like to take this opportunity to inform my friends reading this post that republicans do not have a monopoly on ignorance and racism.

Field's Exhibit A is my friend Gloria Patko. Gloria didn't get the memo that she is not one of us "dark skinned" people, and therefore does not have the right to call us certain names here in America.

"Buena Vista Township Clerk Gloria Platko is resisting demands that she step down after another local official, Interim Township Manager Dexter Mitchell (a Democrat), taped a phone conversation in which Platko referred to Township Supervisor Dwayne Parker (also a Democrat) as “an arrogant nigger.”

The 63 year-old Democrat later apologized for the “slip of the tongue,” but shockingly insisted that her use of the slur doesn’t make her racist, because she has “eaten Thanksgiving dinner with black friends at their house.”

Mitchell said he recorded the call in January without Platko’s knowledge because he didn’t want her to twist his words. About six minutes into the recording, Mitchell asks, “Would you be willing to sit down with (Parker)?”

Platko told Mitchell that Parker is “just rubbing me the wrong way.
“He is just doing whatever he can. You know what I think of Mr. Parker right now, and I know you’re not even going to like this,” Platko said in the recording. “But he’s just an arrogant (N-word). And I’m sorry to say it that way, but that’s the way I feel.” [Source]

Ms. Platko, did they serve you turkey or chicken?

I bet John Boehner would never call a "dark skinned" person an "arrogant Nigger". No matter how much that Obama fellow pisses him off he would never say that. (Publicly.)

He really wouldn't say it now that he is about to get a "dark skinned" son in law.
Not only is he of the darker persuasion, but, to my pleasant surprise, he also happens to be a fellow yawdie.

Of course the press is getting on my man because he was allegedly arrested for smoking the good collie.

"They're going to the chapel and they’re ganja get married.
The fiancé of House Speaker John Boehner’s daughter was once busted for pot possession, a new report said Wednesday.
Lindsay Boehner, 35, is engaged to Jamaica-born Dominic Lakhan, who was arrested in 2006 in Florida after a police officer pulled him over for a traffic violation, the National Enquirer reported.
A cop in Pembroke Pines, Fla., found 4 grams of cannabis in his ashtray.
Pot wasn’t the only illicit substance allegedly in the car. Cops also “observed in plain view a 16 oz. Natural Light beer can opened in the driver door,” the Enquirer said, citing a police report.
“Officer also detected the odor of burnt cannabis emitting from the interior of the vehicle,” according to the police report." [Source]

Save the ganja jokes. The American press is so predictable. Lindsey has found her soul-mate, leave her alone. Honestly, I can't say that I blame her; Jamaica is a small place in land size only.

I wonder if Gloria Platko has ever been to Jamaica?

Debt ceiling, child support, asthma, and panties.

I see that as of me writing this post, Mr. Tan Man has still not gotten enough votes to pass his debt-ceiling bill. The magic number for Mr. Tan Man is 217. Good luck there buddy. You are going to need it tonight. These tea party wingnuts don't care about little things like the future of our country. I swear, some people sure know how to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory".

Speaking of tea party wingnuts; yet another one of them has some splainin to do:

"(Reuters) - A Tea Party-backed U.S. Congressman who has lectured the U.S. government about getting its financial house in order owes more than $100,000 in child support payments, a lawyer for his ex-wife said on Thursday.
Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh, who was narrowly elected in a Chicago suburban district during the Republican sweep of 2010, denied the allegations and said he would fight them in court.

His ex-wife Laura Walsh failed to receive full child support for about five years from 2005 to late 2010, her lawyer Jack Coladarci told Reuters.
Walsh resumed full payments to support their three children after he was elected to the Congressional seat, which pays a salary of $174,000 per year, the lawyer said.

"These latest attacks against me are false and I will fight them in the appropriate venue," Walsh said in a statement on his web site, referring to the Cook County courtroom where Laura Walsh brought the case. The divorce documents detailing the apparent delinquent payments were first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
The attorney for Laura Walsh said the congressman needs to make good on the $117,437 he owes, plus interest.

"Laura is getting help now because he has a job where we can find him," Coladarci said. "But it is difficult to raise three kids, and she is not remarried, and she is supporting them basically on her salary." [Source]

Mr. Walsh, here is how you fight these attacks: PAY YOUR DAMN CHILD SUPPORT!

I wonder if Governor Krispy Kreme is still thinking about running for President? If he is, he might want to make sure that he works on his asthma problem. Maybe if he would spend a little more time in his state and focus on the people's business he could concentrate on staying healthy.

Finally, why aren't some of you who were up in arms about the TSA agents feeling up grandma not up in arms about this story?

"NEW YORK — A Harlem woman is suing JetBlue Airlines after she was kicked off her Florida-bound flight for allegedly wearing no panties.

Malinda Knowles, 27, said she was in shock when a JetBlue employee put a walkie-talkie between her legs to see if she had on any panties.
“I didn’t want to show him anything. He wanted me to basically show him my crotch. I was completely humiliated. It was vulgar. It was macho. It was rude,” said Knowles, who is 27 years old.

She was escorted off the plane at LaGuardia Airport. She was wearing a baggy blue t-shirt over short denim jeans. She was taken to a hangar, where she lifted up her T-shirt to prove she met the dress code.

“‘Oh, she’s wearing shorts,’” the JetBlue fashion police responded, according to Knowles." [Source]

This adds new meaning to the name JETBLUE....let me stop.

I'm out. Oh, and it's 10:30 PM, and there is still no wingnut bill.

No deal for you Negro!

Rrrrrriing. Rrrrrriing.Rrrrring. "Mr.Boehner, that's coming from the White House, are you going to answer it?" "No, f&^k that nig guy. Let it ring."

Poor O, he can't even get these clowns to answer his phone calls these days. Mr. Tan Man walked away from talks on the debt ceiling and it doesn't look like he is coming back anytime soon. He held a press conference tonight and put down a marker on behalf of his wingnut friends.

I guess O thought that he had my man figured out after a few rounds of golf but he was wrong. He will never be able to get into the mind of a wingnut.

"Obama’s rhetorical floundering is the sound of a bewildered politician trying to be heard over the long, withdrawing roar of ebbing faith in a failing model of governance. From Greece to California, with manifestations in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Illinois and elsewhere, this model is collapsing. Entangled economic and demographic forces are refuting the practice of ever-bigger government financed by an ever-smaller tax base and by imposing huge costs on voiceless future generations.

Richard Miniter, a Forbes columnist, is right: “Obama is not the new FDR, but the new Gorbachev.” Beneath the tattered, fading banner of reactionary liberalism, Obama struggles to sustain a doomed system. Democrats’ dependency agenda — swelling the ranks of government employees, multiplying government-subsidized industries, enveloping ever-more individuals in the entitlement culture — is buckling under an intractable contradiction: It is incompatible with economic growth sufficient to create enough wealth to feed the multiplying tax eaters. " [Source]

O, with all due respect; it's time to double down. Show George Will and others that if this is to be the end of big government we will not go down without a fight. Show them that what the progressive proposes is not "incompatible with economic growth", but by putting people first, it is essential for it to take place.

The people who make up the "entitlement culture" are the fat cats and corporations who have been sucking the life out of this country for their own selfish gains and giving nothing in return. Steve Wynn, for instance, has the nerve to cry a river over Obama's policies hurting his bottom line yet his company had a growth of over 300 million dollars from the same time last year, and his stock prices have more than tripled since 2009. Yeah, some Socialist.

Sorry Mr. Wynn, it seems that the government subsidies Mr. Will complains about has only helped folks like you.

"Obama displayed frustration with the Republicans, saying Boehner had failed to return his phone calls during the day, observing it wasn’t the first time during the debt-limit talks he had been “left at the altar,” and declaring the Republicans had walked away from “an extraordinarily fair deal.”

O, my question to you would be this: Why would you want to get married to those people in the first place?

I know it when I see it.

I see that Michele Bachmann and company are trying to save A-merry-ca from things such as porn and Gay Marriages. Nice. That's it Michele, keep fiddling while Rome burns.

Honestly, this s*&^ isn't even funny anymore.

"This debt limit increase is his problem and I think it's time for him to lead by putting his plan on the table"

"His problem"!? No Mr. Speaker, it is all of A-merry-ca's problem. But this is what happens when a weasel plays politics and tries to appease the people on the fringes in his party. He didn't want to seem weak, and he wanted to stand up to the big bad beige man in the people's house. So rather than do what's right for the country, we get this "his problem" rhetoric.

“My message to the White House over the last several months has been real simple: The spending cuts have to be larger than the increase in the debt ceiling. Secondly, there are no tax increases on the table, and, thirdly, we have to have real controls in place to make sure this never happens again; real controls like a balanced budget amendment.”

"Never happens again"? Oh that's right, I almost forgot; it happened SEVEN TIMES under the last president, who was a...wait for it.....wait for it....Republican!

Anyway, we have until August 2nd before the s*&^ really hits the fan. That is when our esteemed Treasury Secretary, Timothy (I came from the Bartles & Jaymes charm school) Geithner, says that we won't have any more money available to pay our debts. Not good. So far we have been able to pay them by using "extra ordinary measures". (I think that means borrowing from pension funds and stuff) but for all of you who don't know; we already reached our debt limit back in May.

So here is what we can look forward to if the republiclowns don't get their act together:

The stock market will do a serious Greg Louganis.
There will be hyper inflation so our interest rates will go up and loans and credit will dry up.
Credit drying up is not a good thing. Business will have to lay off folks because they can't get loans from banks to carry out their day to day operations.
The interest rates in your credit cards will go up.
Grandma and grandpa won't get their social security checks.
The folks in the government (including the military) won't get paid.
Planning a vacation this summer? Forget it. Your dollar will be worthless in other countries.

In other words, it will all be just like the republicans want it. How else are they going to get control of the White House?

You know who would make a great porn star? John Boehner. He already knows how to f*&^ people.

These clowns are not funny.

Call this the republi-clowns gone wild post. WTF? Republican governors calling the po po idiots, and elected leaders telling the working man that if budget cuts causes him to lose his job, "so be it"? Yes, if you can't feed little Johnny and if you lose that house to foreclosure, it's all on you. You should have started a business when you went into the work force. Busting your ass while serving your government is just no good. Next time become a politician. (Whenever I think of poli-tricksters I think of that song by Dire Straits .)

Here is the thing about John Boehner, though. The man is actually sending about $450 million in earmarked "pork" to his own Ohio district while he gives his cut em high and cut em low speech. (We are talking a million jobs if tan man gets his way.)I swear, if honesty was a bed that man would never sleep. Well, unless it was a tanning bed.

And then there is that other republi-clown from Ohio:

"In a speech last month Ohio Gov. John Kasich emphatically referred to a police officer who ticketed him for a driving violation as "an idiot."

Kasich, now the Republican governor, was ticketed on Jan. 11, 2008, for "approaching a public safety vehicle with lights displayed" on Route 315 in Columbus and later paid an $85 fine. But he was not happy about it.....

"Have you ever been stopped by a police officer that's an idiot," Kasich asked the seated audience, pausing his speech as he moved around the room. "I had this idiot pull me over on 315. Listen to this story. He says to me, he say, uh, he says you passed this emergency vehicle on the side of the road and you didn't yield."

"I said, officer I, are you kidding, I didn't, I didn't see any, I didn't even see any, where the heck was it?" a stammering Kasich recalls. "The last thing I would ever do would be to pass an emergency, are you kidding me?"

View full sizeAP fileOhio Gov. John Kasich, shown in a 2010 photograph.
"He says, 'Well I understand that. Give me your license,'" Kasich continues. "He goes back to the car, comes back, gives me a ticket and says you must report to court, if you don't report to court we're putting a warrant out for your arrest."

Then Kasich stills himself and bellows, "He's an idiot! We just can't act that way. What people resent are people who are in the government who don't treat the client with respect.'" [Source]

Nice.

Finally, Tucker Carlson joined the wingnuts gone crazy parade by saying that the first lady wants to "raise your children at GUN POINT." To Tucker, there is nothing like a gang banging first lady to scare your children into doing things her way. It's what they do in Chicago. They might be living in the White House, but those two Negroes are still representing the South side.

John's black problem, the age of Reince, and brothers and restrooms.

*
I want to start this post by making a personal appeal to you Negroes: Please stop with this rumor that John Boehner's mother was a sister and was doing the whole passe blanc thing.

This stuff has been going around on the web for a few days now and it needs to stop. I know he went there first, but let's stop digging into the man's background for (black) skeletons.

Happy trails hip hop Mike. I guess those melanin challenged folks over at the RNC got tired of you going all 106 & Park at your public speaking engagements. That and the little money issues you were having. ---Actually it was more like the big money issues. See Mike, that's why those folks don't want us around their money; because of Negroes like you.

Anyway A-merry-ca, get ready to hear a lot about* Reince Priebus in the coming days. REINCE PRIEBUS. The poor guy's name sounds like some kind of rare disease. REINCE PRIEBUS???
Somehow that name seems fitting for the leader of the RNC. Good luck Reince, and be kind to Mike.

Finally, I recently blogged about brothers being able to use public rest rooms here in A-merry-ca, and now it seems that even famous brothers don't get to tinkle when they want to.

"An assistant manager at McDonald's was fired after allowing Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson to use the bathroom while the restaurant was closed.

While working the late-night drive-thru shift at 3 a.m., a female employee encountered a man standing outside the window who asked to come inside and use the restroom. After a little while, she realized it was the popular Minnesota Vikings star and opened the door for him to come inside and use the facilities. (The seating area at the restaurant is normally closed during the late-night hours.)

One week later, the mother of three was fired for the offense.

"He's a public figure... I know him better than some of the maintenance people that come in and out," she told The Consumerist. "I never thought in a million years that that decision was going to cost me my career." [Source]

Oh lawd!! Come on Micky D's. It was Adrian Peterson for crying out loud! Here is hoping that Adrian uses his influence and wealth to get girlfriend her job back. After all, she was just helping out a brotha.

Folks, I have to go now. I just found out that I am a Leo and not a Virgo anymore. I am all messed up inside.

THE WINGNUTS ARE HERE!

"The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

(Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.)"

My republi-clown friends left out that little part of the Constitution so I thought I would post it for those of you who are not familiar with that very important document. "Oh field, stop it, there you go being messy again, you know that portion of the Constitution was Amended. It's called the 14th Amendment, field." WHOOPS. Sorry, it was Amended; bad field Negro.

It's just that all this reading of the Constitution by all these strict constructionist made me want to go back to the strictest interpretation of that fine document. As it was originally intended by those who framed it, that's all.

I swear, these newly elected officials are a trip. And why did some of those dumbocrats in Washington even participate in this silly symbolic exercise?

"Some 135 lawmakers from both parties participated in the reading of the document approved in 1787 and in operation since 1789. Leading off was new House Speaker John Boehner, who recited the "We the People" preamble. He was followed by outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who read Article I, Section 1 that gives legislative powers to Congress.

The document, long a subject both of reverence and wrangling, has never been read in its entirety in the House, and the event, coming on the second day of Republican control of the chamber, was a nod to the tea partiers who returned Republicans to power.

Tea party backers often cited the Constitution in arguing that Washington is ignoring the limits of federal power outlined in the document.

Democrats went along, but before the reading started they asked why Republicans chose to omit sections, including those pertaining to slavery, that were later amended. In particular, they asked about the Article I, Section 2 clause that classified slaves as three-fifths of a person for the purpose of congressional apportionment and taxation.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., asked why those elements of American history were being left out, "given the struggle of African-Americans, given the struggle of women."

"We fail to show the American people that imperfection is not to be feared and that our ability to constantly improve on what the Founders gave us is a blessing, not a reason for divisiveness," Black Caucus member Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., said.

Goodlatte said he and others had worked closely with the Library of Congress and the Congressional Research Service in coming up with the most accurate presentation of the Constitution. He noted to Jackson, son of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, that another pioneer of the civil rights movement, Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., had been asked to read the 13th Amendment that abolished slavery. "
[Source]
Isn't that special? Now that would make for a very nice little bit of symbolism now wouldn't it?

Symbolism is nice, but get with me when stuff like this stops happening in A-merry-ca.

Of course, when half of the people who populate this country dwell in the "Twilight Zone", a more perfect union is going to be that much harder to come by. "except Obama, except Obama"...Oh my! A birther outburst in the congressional chamber. Not surprising given the folks who now occupy most of the seats in that venerable body. The Capitol police removed the wingnut, but I am guessing that most of the elected wingnuts present were secretly saying, yesssss.

"Williams: I'm curious as to how much responsibility you feel specifically because of something that happened this morning. During the reading of the Constitution, Congressman Frank Pallone of New Jersey, was reading a portion of the document, interrupted by someone who heckled from within the chamber. It was to express doubt over the president's American citizenship. Provided you believe the president is an American citizen, you've got 12 members co-sponsoring legislation that does about the same thing, it expresses doubt. Would you be willing to say, "This is a distraction, I've looked at it to my satisfaction. Let's move on"?

Boehner: The state of Hawaii has said that President Obama was born there. That's good enough for me.

Williams: Would you be willing to say that message to the 12 members in your caucus who seem to either believe otherwise or are willing to express doubt and have co-sponsored legislation?

Boehner: Brian, when you come to the Congress of the United States, there are 435 of us. We're nothing more than a slice of America. People come, regardless of party labels, they come with all kinds of beliefs and ideas. Uh it's, it's the melting pot of America. It's not up to me to tell them what to think." [Source]

Yesssss!
