"Oh, Ben Carson, what went wrong? He was the pride of the black community back in the day, with his leadership in neurosurgery and his autobiography-turned-film, Gifted Hands.
But then he started speaking out — about politics — and decided to run for president. Now we don’t know him anymore, as he has become the darling of white conservatives.

Ben Carson would be the anti-Obama, the first black president designed especially for white conservatives. For the white right wing, he would be their useful Negro in Washington — better yet, their magical Negro.

Rupert Murdoch already set the stage for us, with a tweet that told us exactly what he thought of Carson as president versus the black president currently in the White House:

After all, who is better qualified than Rupert Murdoch to determine who is a real black president? Murdoch later apologized, but surely he knew what he was doing. White conservatives — tired of hearing about racism and the complaints of black folks, and longing for the days when they could simply run roughshod over people of color without backtalk and uppityness — need a Ben Carson.  And they’ve had a long time to think about this.

Clarence Thomas was the original prototype. By no means among the most qualified candidates for the Supreme Court — and not even the most qualified black Republican — Thomas served a useful role on the nation’s high court in dismantling everything his predecessor Thurgood Marshall stood for.

Although he benefited from affirmative action and the civil rights movement, he and his handlers positioned him as the up-by-your-bootstraps Horatio Alger in blackface who needed no one to get ahead and made it up the ladder on his own. The story was made out of whole cloth, and it was not designed for black consumption, though some in the African-American community fell for the okeedoke, and it was too late once they woke up.

What we have gotten is a lot of self-hate, hatred of black people from the bench, and outright attacks on the legacy of the civil rights movement, including the gutting of the Voting Rights Act.

Enter Ben Carson, with his story of growing up in poverty and not needing government programs to get ahead. Since he entered the race, he’s just become worse and worse. In 2013, he said Obamacare was the worst thing to happen to Americans since slavery. He argued that homosexuality is a choice, asserting that prisons make you gay. Then, the doctor said that a Muslim should not become president, then said he could support a Muslim who denounces Sharia law, as if he really knows what Sharia law is.

Now, Carson is weighing in on the gun debate following the massacre in Roseburg, Oregon. Carson called for arming Kindergarten teachers, argued that the victims in the massacre should have fought the gunman, and even suggested the Holocaust “would have been greatly diminished” if Hitler had not disarmed the German people. And Carson also made comments directed towards LGBT families by claiming “traditional families with traditional, intact values do much better in terms of raising children. So let’s stop pretending that everything is of equal value.”

Carson is on the scene in order to make white conservatives feel comfortable in their skin and to validate them and their racism, Islamophobia, sexism, homophobia, their desire to return to the 1950s, and everything else. “A black man said it, so it must be alright,” they’ll say.  A trail of outlandish, offensive comments is the only way a black man will get ahead in today’s GOP, the de facto party of white nationalism, for all of their lip service to outreach and the so-called big tent. And in the primaries, Trump and Carson are giving the unhinged white Republican base all the raw meat they can eat.

To his credit, Carson did break with Jeb Bush and supported a reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, which does not fit into the Tea Party agenda.  But on everything else, he is on point- — if you are a white conservative, that is.

Ben Carson should know better, but he is giving the voters what they want. No one is saying black people should be monolithic and think the same way, but Carson is not for black interests, nor is he intended for a black audience." [Source]

I was raised in a Seventh Day Adventist home, so I was prouder of Dr. Ben than most. We shared the same race AND religion. Now, though, I am embarrassed for the man, and like David Love I find his pathetic pandering to right-wing ideologues embarrassing. 

I still respect him for what he accomplished, but I am saddened to think of what he has done to his legacy.

Rupert's "real black", and Emerge magazine is back.

"Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide? And much else."

Hmmm, a "real black President." This is what the founder and CEO of FOX NEWS is claiming that America needs. Forget the fact that his network is responsible for the "racial divide" here in America. It takes some serious cojones for a man in his position to make such a declaration.

Here is the obvious question, though: How does an old Australian white man know what a "real black man" should look or act like?

I am sure that Barack Obama not being a black man is news to Michele Obama. Personally, I will take Barack Obama in the race draft over Ben Carson. Ben has done some great things, and we would have taken him about 20 years ago, but he is a free agent now, he has cleared waivers and you white folks are free to pick him up anytime you want.

But back to the head man over at FOX. If I were Rupert Murdoch I would just leave black issues alone, especially given his network's history with us.

"African-American Fox News staffers find it “very difficult” to work at the network, former president of the National Association of Black Journalists Bob Butler told TheWrap on Thursday.

“I’ve talked to some folks who work there and it’s very difficult, especially when you have all the hit pieces that are done on Obama,” Butler said.

 

His comments come as Rupert Murdoch continues to face criticism over a controversial tweet on Wednesday that insinuated President Obama isn’t “a real black president.” Murdoch apologized on Thursday.

 

But those disillusioned staffers also told Butler, “Look, this is a job, I have to do it, and sometimes you have to just hold your nose and do what you have to do to collect a paycheck.” Butler, who served as president of the NABJ from 2013-2015, said those employees are good producers who pride themselves on covering news.

 

Regarding Murdoch’s comments suggesting the president isn’t an authentic black president, a dumbfounded Butler wondered “what does that even mean?”

 

 

He’s not surprised Murdoch isn’t a fan of Obama judging by the editorial policies of his properties, but wouldn’t call him a racist.

 

“I always stop short of saying someone is being blatantly racist,” Butler continued before saying it’s troubling for Murdoch, who isn’t black, to be deciding who is “black enough.” [Source]

 

Memo to Rupert: I heard Barack singing that Al Green tune, and I think I speak for every black person in America when I say that his black card is intact.  

 

Finally, speaking of black card cred. I am so glad that George Curry is back with his very fine magazine. I met him down in Washington a few months ago and he said that he was coming back.  I, for one, am glad that he did.

 

We will be forever grateful for this issue.

Strange tweets, and even DWW is getting dangerous.

The guy who found FOX Views took to twitter to give his two cents about the missing Malaysian jet.


He says that the jet may be stolen and might be hidden in Northern Pakistan somewhere. Now I suppose that this might be possible, but man it sure gives an interesting insight into the guy's world view.

Finally, I just posted a story where the po po shot an old man after he pulled a cane on them. Now here comes a story out of Alabama about an unarmed 20 year old airman who was shot in the gut by the po po.

 

"Police shot a 20-year-old airman as he lay on the ground following a traffic accident along Interstate 85 in Alabama, the man’s family said.


Air Force Airman 1st Class Michael Davidson was traveling Thursday evening from Texas to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, near Goldsboro, N.C., in a 2004 GMC Envoy when he changed lanes and clipped a semi-truck with his driver’s side mirror, according to police.


Davidson stopped and got out of his SUV to exchange insurance information with the semi’s driver, the airman’s father told the Opelika-Auburn News.   


He said he didn’t get that far,” said Billy Davidson. “When (he was walking) to the truck, he said he heard something but couldn’t tell what it was. There was a lot of noise, but (he) could see the reflection of the lights off the truck — the police lights. Then he did what I told him to do. I told my boys if you see police lights (to) stop, put your hands up and turn around.”


The elder Davidson said his son held up his arms, holding his wallet in one hand.


“The next thing I know I was on the ground,” Michael Davidson told his father. “That’s when they shot me. I didn’t realize he shot me. I didn’t know what happened. It was so fast. They couldn’t have been there three or four seconds when I was shot.”


Michael Davidson told his father that police immediately searched his vehicle, even before he received medical assistance.


“After being shot, the officer was yelling at Michael, asking where the ‘other person’ was,” his father told the Panola Watchman. “Michael was traveling alone, and has no idea who the ‘other person’ is.”


But police said officers and emergency medical personnel responded “as quickly as possible,” and even discussed sending a medical helicopter to assist." [Story]


Lord have mercy! It's getting just as bad to drive while white as it is to drive while black. You police officers have got to chill a little bit out here. You are way too quick on the trigger. If police departments have to pay a little bit more to better train their officers then so be it.

No end in sight for Uncle Rupert.

I know that I said I would stop bashing FOX NEWS in my posts, but I lied.

Here is a shock, Bill O-Liely is actually sticking up for his Uncle Rupert in these scandals that are rocking the News Corp Empire. Bill seems to think that this is much ado about nothing, and that it is a left wing media "witch hunt" to get to those pillars of virtue over at FOX.

In fact, wingnut central is hardly covering the scandal. But fortunately, the rest of A-merry-ca is starting to take notice.

"You have the New York Times absolutely running wild with the story," he said. "Front page, front page, front page. Column, column, column. Vicious stuff, vicious stuff. And it's all ideological, is it not?"

Bill, they are only "running wild" because it is a big story. Folks, can you imagine if we were talking about Ted Turner or George Soros and not Uncle Rupert? You would see more BREAKING NEWS headlines on FOX than dumb blondes and jigging Negroes.

The folks over at FOX are praying that this scandal will go away, but it won't. I suspect that the stuff going on across the pond is just the tip of a very large iceberg. I hope that we can finally rid ourselves of this scumbag and his evil corporation. Money can buy you a lot, but it can't hide the truth.

"Glenn Beck laughed about the death of a whistleblower involved in the phone hacking scandal and asked listeners to "pray" that Fox News was not involved in the crisis.

On his Tuesday show, Beck joked about the death of Sean Hoare, who was the first journalist to go on the record about the phone-hacking crisis at the News of the World in a 2010 New York Times article. Hoare was found dead in his London home on Monday. Beck said he loved the story of the death.
"I'm not saying that foul play was involved, but it is suspicious that he's dead," Beck said, laughing. (On Tuesday, police categorically concluded that no third party was involved in Hoare's death.)

He then joked that Vladimir Putin was involved in the death, before turning to Fox News, which, like the News of the World, is owned by News Corp.
Beck said he was worried that the scandal would be used by opponents of Fox News to try and bring it down, but that, as far as he knew, there had never been a hint of a scandal at the network.

"Pray that that is so and that they are thwarted," Beck said. "...They will use this and it will shut down."' [Source]

Yes Glenn, I will be praying for FOX NEWS, but I don't think you would like to hear what I will be telling the big guy.

How low can they go?

Any Negro in A-merry-ca caught reading the news paper in that picture should be taken away by the "Drop Squad", forthwith. In fact, any A-merry-can caught paying for that waste of ink to do anything other than to clean up a spill or put it at the bottom of their bird cage ought to have their heads examined.

The Post showed poor taste and pissed me off with their dead monkey cartoon, but just when you think that they couldn't go any lower, they do.

Criticizing the Governor of New York for not being able to do his job because he is blind, is despicable behavior, even for a rag belonging to that poor excuse for a human being, Rupert Murdoch. Hey look, I don't live in New York, and I really don't know what kind of job the guy is doing. From all accounts he ain't doing so great. But I got a news flash for the folks over at the post: there are a lot of political leaders with 20/20 vision who are doing a pretty good job of fucking up our country. Singling out someone for criticism because of their disability is beyond the pale. Even for the Post.

I saw where Saturday Night Live did a parody of him, and I honestly was not as offended as much as some people were by that. I know that it was in poor taste, but it didn't send up my pissed off meter as maybe it should have. This, on the other hand, did.

Today Albany teeters on bankruptcy,.....Paterson's blindness severely constricts his ability to acquire basic information. His administration is adrift; he is inconsistent, imprecise and often contradictory in his public statements. To put it bluntly, the governor needs competent help.”

No, "to put it bluntly", you folks over at the Post are a bunch of morons!

The people who come to this site on a regular basis are quite familiar with my strong dislike for all things FOX NEWS. My contempt for them has nothing to do with jealousy towards Rupert Murdoch and all his billions (although it would be nice if he throw a dollar or two my way). No, my contempt for them has more to do with my love for the people who make up this republic.

FOX NEWS is dangerous. Very dangerous, and if we can't stop them, we should at least be aware of the damage that they can do.

If you think that the mass media and the press can't be used to do unimaginable things, you better think again. Think of the folks who made up the Hutu majority slaughtering their Tutsi brothers and sisters in Rwanda while RTLM (Radio Rwanda) encouraged people to kill,kill, kill.

Think of Joseph Goebbels in Nazi Germany and the "Propagnamisterium" (propaganda ministry) he was charged to keep. In order for those sick fucks to be able to carry out their plan, they had to get the message out and have the people believe it.

Now I am not comparing Roger Ailes and the folks over at FOX NEWS to Nazis.....well, maybe I am. But I really do need you to understand just how dangerous these guys are. And when I read essays like the one I lifted below from Buzzflash editor, Mark Karlin, it just reinforces my position.

But they should be shunned for the risk they help to create to all our lives by endlessly championing dolts, proven liars, and leaders who turn gold into cow dung.

All FOX proves in its propaganda angle is that a few thousand hearty potential terrorists, at most, have held the world's strongest power at bay for years, while ruining our economy with onerous and ineffectual war expenses, helping to weaken the dollar, drive up the price of oil, and, in turn, helping to cause a world food crisis and more.

It used to be the American way that if you couldn't do the job, you got out of the way or got fired. But the fat paycheck propagandists at FOX now tell us that mediocrity and failure define the new American patriotism -- that and an American flag lapel pin made in China.
God have mercy on their souls -- and let's hope that we can survive the glorification that FOX gives to losers who imperil our lives.

We need an America that proves itself by getting the job done; not by relying on Roger Ailes GOP propaganda talking points to divert the masses from people who have utterly failed them. "

Sometimes I get so pissed off at my people that I am scared to even post about it. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I read today that the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) agreed to partner with the FAKE NEWS NETWORK to sponsor some upcoming presidential debates . Ever since finding out about this travesty, I have been trying to figure out why the Congressional Black Coons would do such a thing. I mean, have they not heard the pleas and the outcry from thousands of their constituents not to partner with FOX? I know I rip Jessie Jackson from time to time, but I have to give him credit for speaking out against this "partnership" as well. I just wish more of these CBC members would grow some and come out against this partnership with the FAKE NEWS NETWORK.

Folks, we are talking about a group of people that consistently marginalized black people, and use us to play on the fears of their red state watchers to increase viewership. The "fair and balanced" people have not been so fair or so balanced when it comes to black folks. They are the ones that called a mainstream African American church separatist. They are the ones who consistently ignore important stories about black folks and give us fluff pieces about the rotting body of a no talented pin up girl. They are the ones who called black people racist on the occasion of the funeral of the wife of our greatest civil rights icon. And these ignorant ass politicians are co-sponsoring a debate with these mother f*****s. Do they even know who they are dealing with in Rupert Murdoch? Talk about making a deal with the devil. But I swear some of us will do anything for the almighty dollar. At some point we as black folks have to ask ourselves why we even vote for these jokers. The leaders of these clowns, Bennie Thompson, (D-Miss), and Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D- Md) even tried to justify this bull sh**. {"The CBC Institute is committed to presenting the presidential candidates to the broadest audience possible"} All the while ignoring the organized efforts of black folks and thousands of signatures and phone calls to their sorry ass organization.

I have been down to D.C. on occasion for the CBC weekend. And my friends, if you want to see cooning in full force, you might want to take a trip down there to see these clowns in person. They are a joke, and they could care less about the people they serve. Most of them are looking out for themselves while trying to line their grubby pockets. (Insert your Dollar Bill Jefferson reference here) They could really care less about black folks or our issues out here. Their focus is getting reelected every two years, and holding on to their power.

I am begging every black (or white) person that voted for these clowns to vote for their opponent in their next quest to go back to Washington. I don't care of they are running against the Geico f*****g cave man, do not vote for those mother f*****s; they are fowl, and they are tainted by greed and money.

"Collaborating with FOX NEWS provides an opportunity to take this presidential election to millions of households". And exactly how many of those households do you think will vote for a democrat? So way to go CBC, you have embarrassed your selves, your constituents, and your f*****g race. How you live with yourselves I just don't know, but I guess at this stage in your careers, you lost the ability to feel shame a long time ago.

But you know what; I feel shame for you, and I am embarrassed that you house Negroes even look like me, or share my heritage. FOX NEWS??? Still, I am not going to trip, I just won't forget, and I hope every other black person that voted for your sorry asses won't forget either.

FOX NEWS?

I have been quite upset about the FAKE NEWS NETWORK for some time now, and I think it's about time I dedicate a post to my angst.

For the record, their house negro and bimbo commentators annoy the hell out of me, and so does their obvious right wing bias, as well as their constant stacking of the deck on their talk shows against moderate and left leaning commentators. But all of that pales in comparison to the fact that they are allowed to call themselves FOX NEWS. I mean come on, that sh** is entertainment and opinions, not news. News is supposed to be "fair and balanced" (where have I heard that before), and journalists, regardless of their own personal beliefs, are supposed to project an image of being impartial. None of that at the FAKE NEWS NETWORK, where they are more like a propaganda arm of the Bush White House than a legitimate news outlet. I mean one of their former anchors is now the White House press secretary for crying out loud! (isn't it funny that they have barely mentioned the Walter Reed fiasco, or the purging of over seven U.S. attorney's by the frat boy's administration, yet they constantly talk about sh** like Obama's church, and Anna Nicole's now rotting behind )

But hey, I am not knocking Rupert's hustle, this is America, and the man can do what he wants with his television network and his money. But for Gods sake man, must you pretend to have a news outfit ,when the world knows (even the people that worship at the church of Fox) know that your station is nothing more than a cheep entertainment ratings stunt for gullible red state republicans? At some point we have to say enough, and demand that the FAKE NEWS NETWORK reveal themselves and stop spitting out the "fair and balanced bull sh** line.

So which leads me to another reason for my post. I would like to congratulate John Edwards for not accepting the FAKE NEWS NETWORK'S invitation to participate in their Nevada debate. Good for you John, I will be watching Hillary's ass. I hear she has been getting blood money from Murdoch, so I would really love to see what she does here. If she has any shred of decency she will decline like you did and say no thanks to that joke of an outfit and their phony ass debate. If she accepts, sorry Francis Holland, I won't be supporting her ass even if she is the democratic nominee for the general election. (third party anyone?) And half and half man, you are not off the hook either. I am waiting to see if you decline to participate in the FAKE NEWS debate as well. I love how you have refused to appear on their network, and frankly my man, the way they have been dissing you lately, I wouldn't either. So I hope you (Obama) decline to appear as well, that would send a very strong message and go a long way in showing those people that you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time. Although I gotta give it to the FAKE NEWS people, they sure fooled allot of people.
