Knowing all about Bowe.

Bowe Bergdhal. The name alone is fit for a movie.


Anyway, the sound of that name, like Benghazi, will be sure to bring out right-wing rage in the coming months.


There are lots of questions about Sgt. Bergdhal, so I will do this blog post in a simple Q&A form for you.


Field, the more I hear the story of this guy, the more I think about Nicholas Brody, am I wrong for that?


Nope. There are certainly a lot of parallels so far. Wait....I think I hear a helicopter. Do you hear it?


Field, this guy was a deserter, why should we care what happens to him?


Because it hasn't been actually proven that he was a deserter, and when he was captured by the Taliban he was still an American soldier.


Field, why did we have to let all those high level Taliban members go to free just one guy?


Because one American is worth hundreds of everyone else. Besides, they are Taliban, not Al Qaeda.  


Aren't they going back home to kill more Americans?


Nope. They won't make it home. It's a drone thing.


Field,  what Obama did was illegal, he should have notified congress of what he planned to do.


Well, not exactly. I know that congress passed a bill [that is now a federal statute] saying that the Sect of Defense must notify congress 30 days before the transfer of any prisoners from Gitmo, but.... whoops.


Anyway, O put a little thingy at the end of that bill when he signed it called a "signing statement", which basically says that I will sign the bill but I am still the HNIC. And in this case he claimed that executive authority (it's in the Constitution, look it up) gave him the right to "override the law".


My man W used these very same "signing statements" to torture folks. 


Field won't this give terrorists more incentive to capture American soldiers in the future?


They don't need anymore incentives to capture American soldiers. Just being American is incentive enough.


Field, what's up with Bergdhal's daddy's hair? He looks like a Taliban member his damn self.


Maybe dude is a Deadhead, or, maybe he wanted his son's captors to feel a kinship with him and not send his son's head home to him in a FedEx box.


Daddy Bergdhal did a lot of strange things.


Field, this swapping for our soldiers will make us look weak. Why are we negotiating with terrorist?


Do you think that Israel has a strong army? Well, been there done that. Besides, they aren't terrorists, they are enemy combatants. Isn't that what we were told? "We are at war".


Field, isn't this unprecedented for an American president to negotiate with terrorists enemy combatants?


Actually, no. One Saint Ronnie of Reagan comes to mind.    


Field, I wish I could rejoice in an American coming home after five years, but I just don't trust this Obama fellow, seems to me like he planned the whole thing.

Politics and shootings as usual.

It is politics as usual in here America. I see that Mitt has outlined his energy plan for these divided states of America, (more fracking, good luck with that) and the republican party platform is...well, exactly what we would expect with republicans: Taliban like in its ignorance. (American women are getting a beat down in this war.) 

Issac is still trying to make up his mind if he will slam Tampa next week, and I think that it is the sweetest of all ironies that the storm has a biblical name. Pray people, pray!

Anyway, enough of politics, I want to rain on your parade just a little bit while you continue to wave at the floats going down Main Street while you pursue your happiness.

Here in Philly we had another shooting last night; this one was so brazen and horrific that the police literally ran out of markers to mark the shell casings on the ground. A driver of a car was ambushed by a group of men who opened up on him. Dude was shot eight times and might actually survive. (They build em tough here in Philly.) But here is the thing, we have shootings-and killings- every day, so there was nothing unusual about some dude getting his wig split on a city street. What upset me about this story is the fact that these little urban terrorist were shooting their intended target in the middle of a residential neighborhood while decent law abiding citizens tried to relax in the comfort of their homes. Eight O Clock??!! You little Negroes done lost your minds! [Story]

I am going to repeat something I have been saying on this blog for years: some of you out here having these damn kids need to be put in jail right next to the little thug you spawned. (This is for you sperm donors as well.) 
If your situation in life is such that you can't take care of your damn self, well then when you get your freak on with the neighborhood Lothario, please try your damn best not to bring someone else into the world to share in your misery. That kind of crap is only going to bring problems for the rest of us down the road.   

          

 

"Worlds Apart."

His O ness is finally making good on his promise to get us out of Iraq, and it looks like September 1, 2010 is the target date. I say it's about damn time. We shouldn't have been there in the first place. That goes for Afghanistan as well. And with each passing day we are seeing why.

"The bullet-riddled bodies — including three women — were found Friday near three four-wheeled drive vehicles in a wooded area just off the main road that snakes through a narrow valley in the Kuran Wa Munjan district of Badakhshan, provincial police chief Gen. Agha Noor Kemtuz told The Associated Press.

One of the dead Americans had spent about 30 years in Afghanistan, rearing three daughters and surviving both the Soviet invasion and bloody civil war of the 1990s that destroyed much of Kabul.

'Spying for Americans'
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told the AP that they killed the foreigners because they were "spying for the Americans" and "preaching Christianity." In a Pashto language statement acquired by the AP, the Taliban also said the team was carrying Dari language bibles and "spying gadgets."

I heard a man I respect immensely say something to this effect on CNN, and it's true: The Taliban share the same ethnicity of the Pashtun Tribe, which represents half of the population of Afghanistan. And, apparently, their "influence extends far beyond the Pashtun heartland" in Afghanistan. They are never going to cooperate with us on a nation building mission, so if we are not there to bomb the place into oblivion (I am not saying that we should) then why are we there? What, exactly, is our vital interest in Afghanistan? To go after al-Qaeda? To catch OBL? To put a clamp on the world's heroin trade? What? It's a rhetorical question, because I know that none of the above makes any damn sense. OBL is either dead or in Pakistan. There is more al Qaeda in other Middle Eastern countries and places like Somalia than Afghanistan, and the president and his damn brother controls half of the drug trade in that country. So who are we kidding with this war?

Finally, these border states are going to have to do something about the killings of innocent law abiding citizens by folks who come into this country without proper documentation. This is what drove those poor people in Arizona to pass those seemingly draconian laws against immigrants. I mean we just cant let this type of thing continue to go on.

"Two men who escaped from a private Arizona prison and a woman thought to have helped them have been linked to the investigation of a couple's killing in New Mexico, authorities said Saturday.

New Mexico State Police spokesman Peter Olson said Tracy Province, John McCluskey and Casslyn Welch were linked through forensics but he declined to provide specifics.

He declined to say whether police believe the three were responsible for the killings, adding that "we don't know how involved they are."

Province, McCluskey and Daniel Renwick escaped from the medium-security Arizona State Prison near Kingman on July 30 after authorities say 44-year-old Casslyn Welch of Mesa threw wire cutters over the perimeter fence. Renwick was arrested in Colorado on Aug. 1.

The badly burned skeletal remains of Linda and Gary Haas, both 61, of Tecumseh, Okla., were found in a charred camper on Wednesday morning on a remote ranch in Santa Rosa in eastern New Mexico. " [Article]

Wait, did they say they are looking for two guys named McCluskey and Renwick? Well I will be damned! I was looking for names like Gonzalez and Rodriquez. Oh well, I am sure that this is just a case of reverse racial profiling. Sorry folks, nothing to seed here, move right along.

Passing on the Taliban.

When the frat boy was in power I was so much angrier. I was always fighting with my ideological enemies because with the war raging in Iraq and American deaths mounting every day, the stakes were so much higher.

Now here we are in the age of Obama and I have mellowed. But that could change. What will change it is if his O ness makes the same mistake the president before him did and try to nation build again in the name of fighting the "war on terror".

First, I agree that right after 911 if we were going to go anywhere it should have been to Afghanistan and not Iraq. It is where Osama bin Laden (OBL) launched his terror network and where he found a safe haven while the Taliban was in control. But in my humble opinion, OBL is probably now on his sixth or seventh virgin and will never be heard from again. The frat boy missed his chance to display his head on the evening news and the guy probably died in his sleep.

Now what we have in Afghanistan is a mess of a problem. And unfortunately his O ness won't get around to it until health care passes.- Or doesn't pass depending on the politricksters in Washington and how they are reading the polls- Instead of committing our troops there when the man we wanted was still alive, the frat boy was giving billions of dollars to the Pakistani,dictator, Musharraf. (Who should be right up there with Valerio Viccei as one of the greatest thieves of all time.) All those billions to fight terror and helps us catch OBL and he was building his military to fight my cricket loving friends in India the whole time. Nice.

Can't say I really blame him, though. Who wants to fight the Afghans? Here in A-merry-ca baseball is our national past time. In Afghanistan it's fighting wars. Just ask the Russians how that little campaign over there worked out for them. Those cats over there have been fighting wars for centuries, it's all they know, so why we would try to nation build in a country like that is beyond me. Talk about getting medieval, they are medieval.

Let's throw in the fact that we are supporting a guy that was probably not even fairly elected and we have a real hypocrisy problem on our hands. But field, if we don't support Hamid Karzai who else are we going to support ? the Taliban? How about none of the above?

The death toll is starting to mount in Afghanistan, and American generals are asking for either more troops or a total withdrawal. The wingnuts and chicken hawks are still saying that we can't "cut and run", that we will look like cowards to the rest of the world. I disagree. American could nuke that entire region with just just a head nod from the chosen one. No one questions our military might. And only a fool would. But the Afghan fighters and Taliban are digging in, and they have been down this road before. Of course, we have too, and it took us years and thousands of lives to get out of places like Vietnam and Iraq. In the case of Iraq, we are still there. Nation building and fighting a war are two entirely different things. We should be nation building our own damn country and fighting the urban terrorist there before we go half way around the world to a bunch of religious fanatics. (Hell we have enough fanatics here that we should be worried about. One of them is on the radio every damn day screaming about the government plot to take over our lives.)

Let's just hope that his O ness sticks to his original script, or even better, scrap the script and get his troops the hell out of there. What we can't have happen is him following the wingnuts and the crowd calling for more troops. We have seen that script before, too, and unfortunately we all know what the final chapter will look like.

Give him a record deal.

I see Osama bin Laden just made another audio recording. (His 60th broadcast to the world since 911) I swear the guy has more recordings than Akon.

But once again A-merry-cans are reminded that the guy who brought mass murder and mayhem to our country is still alive and kicking in a cave somewhere. The frat boy started two wars and put millions of dollars on his head and it didn't mean squat. Two months after leaving the people's house, and the man in the cave is still mocking him. Looks like the bearded one got the last laugh. For seven years he eluded the Bush crew and he will probably outlive most of the neocons who came up with the foolhardy scheme to capture him.

I don't have a fairy god mother, but if I did, I would ask her to grant me a few wishes. One of them (besides the obvious red light special with Lark of course) would be to have our Special Forces capture the scum bag (dead or alive) on the O man's watch. I would give anything to see a press conference with the O man declaring to the nation that we got him, while pictures of the capture are split screened on our television sets. Of course, it would hardly get a mention over at FAKE NEWS, and they would give all the credit for his capture to the previous administration. Thanks to the hard work of former President Bush, Osama bin Laden was captured today....

But watching the wingnuts try to explain why it took their leader seven years with no luck and his O ness did it soon after taking office would be priceless.

I only hope that if and when the O man's administration does capture the bearded one we will get the hell out of Afghanistan. No good can come from fighting with the Afghans. (Just ask the Russians) Fighting to them is like eating apple pies to us. It's what they do. And they enjoy that shit. Our only reason for being there is to capture Osama, so if we get him, let's air-lift everyone who wants out and roll. The Taliban can have that god forsaken place all to themselves.

The Field Negroes Take On The News

I swear I wanted to blog about Barack again today but.....hey, I still don't know what to say about the brother.

Still, there is lots to take about given all the stuff in the news over the past few days.

I want to start with my man the frat boy, and his visit down into the heart of Dixie yesterday. (I told you so) There he was getting in the invariable hug with a suffering black person or family, (See Kanye, George Bush really does care about black people) and making sure all the news papers caught him giving that oh so endearing and christian like hug. I feel your pain, I really do, even if you are black. Give me a fu****g break, why didn't he go down to New Orleans like that? And don't tell me about all the water down below. He is the f*****g President, he could have landed on top of the Superdome if he wanted to. So yeah, that pissed me off. But hey, I guess we all know whose President he really is. Unless of course you want a picture. Say cheese black folks!

I see white supremacist gangs are on the rise, especially out in Cali. Now that's some scary sh**. Where are the Panthers when you need them? And speaking of white supremacist gangs, I am sure every one has heard by now what the "camel neck" one said to a group of republican conservatives over the weekend. Seems she dropped the "F" word to applause while referring to Senator John Edwards. (I wonder if Tim Hardaway was there?) Now there is so much I could say about the "camel neck one", but I won't, I am sure other bloggers have and will continue to take her to task for her ignorant ass homophobic rant. So enough of her. Besides, I think she is just a whore for publicity. She gets off on this stuff more than I hear she likes to get off on... I better stop, I don't want to get sued by the camel neck one. You have to prove malice when you are suing as a public official, and with me, that standard won't be hard for her to meet.

Laugh at Al. Gore and ignore global warming at your own risk. And now a story from Alaska, where it seems the oyster beds are being assailed by bacteria that was previously only found in warm waters. Yes I agree with Al. Gore, global warming is a real threat, and it is primarily caused by mans abuse of the planet. So call me a tree hugging weenie if you want to, but I want the world to be here in 100 years, and I don't even have any fu****g kids.

So let me get this straight, anti- Kremlin protesters are beaten in St. Petersburg, yet another Russian critic is shot (the third to be either shot or poisoned recently)this time right here in the United States. Putin continues to centralize power, strip away human rights and build the Russian army. All the while the frat boy and this administration sleeps at the wheel, and acts as if the only threat we face is from islamo terrorist.

Oh, and did I mention that the Taliban is gaining strength in Afghanistan?And now we seem to be feuding with our main partners in the region, the Pakistanis. Apparently a U.S. General, Douglas Lute, said that our forces can chase the Taliban into Pakistan. Not so, said Pakistani Major Genral Waheed Arshad on behalf of the Pakistan army. "There is no authorization for hot pursuit" Mmmmm. Advise to the frat boy, dead eye Dick, and the bad perm lady: Get the hell out of Iraq, and refocus on other hot spots in the world before it's too late.

One of the things I hate most is a hypocrite. Which is why I tend to despise conservatives and the flag wavers from the republican party. Now consider the conditions at Walter Reed, and the deplorable conditions that these brave soldiers have been having to endure after their great sacrifice for this country. Now the republicans and those in the frat boy's administration are acting as if they didn't realize that the conditions were so bad. Yeah give me a break. Walter Reed was one of the bases scheduled for closing, and the facilities were to be privatized for profit. Now the frat boy is scheduled to set up a bi-partisan commission to investigate, the secretary of the Army has been fired, and there is enough outrage to go around for everybody. ~~~that sound you hear is me puking~~ Give me a fu****g break with this. I have read a couple of good stories on blogs about this, and I have spoken about my brother in law before on this blog, and about all the suffering he has had to go through since he returned with an injury from Iraq. And I am sure there are many other stories like his. But the flag wavers and chicken hawks didn't want to hear these stories, because it didn't fit their talking points about the war effort. All I can say is; thank you Washington Post for exposing this story. And folks, the next time you think the so called main stream media is obsolete, just imagine what kind of world we would have if only the likes of Fox News and Drudge gave us our news.

I see both Barack and Hilary gave nice speeches today in Selma. Both courting the black vote, both hoping they can pole well going into states like South Carolina where there is a huge percentage of black votes in the democratic primary. I think Barack ought to thank that lying ignoramus, Sean Insanity, over at the Fake News network,and that house negro, Erik Rush he trotted out last week. You remember Erik don't you. Mr. Rush was the one who said Barack belonged to a separatist church and Mr. Insanity, who has never seen a lie that he doesn't like, was quick to jump on a faux story. This helped to mobilize blacks behind Barack because they saw it as an unnecessary attack on one of their own, and because damn near 90% of black folks belong to a church exactly like the one Obama is a member of. Poor Hilary, she must really hate those right wingers over at Fox now, because they just gave Barack a serious bump in the poles. Memo to my so called progressive friends, this is what happens when you don't really know black folks.

Glad they caught the guy in Michigan who cut up his wife, and said she left with some guy in a dark sedan. Hey, at least he didn't say she left with a dark guy in a sedan. Remember that Smith lady in South Carolina, and that guy up in Boston? Both high profile cases where the perp lied on us brothers.

I just saw the video where these ignorant ass Negroes down in Texas were teaching a two year old and a five year old how to smoke the ganja. Are you kidding me? Sometimes I swear we don't love our children.
