Refreshing the tree of liberty.

I have to talk about this shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, because I am quite sure that outside of social media and blogs such as this one you will not hear any serious commentary about it.


It comes on the heels of a shooting in Atlanta where another one of these nut- jobs wanted to show us that "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."  Anyway, once again these domestic terrorists are showing us why we should be just as afraid of them as we are of those evil Mooslims.


These two individuals hated their government and authority. (Sound familiar?) And according to their neighbors ---and their Facebook page--- they were supporters of tax cheat, Cliven Bundy, as well.


We should get used to it, because I suspect that there is going to be a lot more of this type of deranged behavior coming from certain types of people in American society.


You can only foam at the mouth for so long over your computer keys, and shoot beer cans in your backyard before you want to act out on the hate that has been building up for years from listening to white right wing hate radio, and conspiracy nuts like Glen Beck and Alex Jones. (BTW, Alex believes that this shooting was set up as a "false flag" operation by the evil government. Ok then,  Alex.)


But Field, what about all the killings in Chicago over the weekend? Why aren't you blogging about that?


Well, for starters, I don't believe that any of those gang- bangers shot two police officers to death. Or, for that matter, that they ran into a huge box- store and shot an innocent person to death just for the heck of it.


Killings in urban America are horrible, and something must be done about them. But these killings are fueled by gang alliances and conflicts, as well as the urban drug trade which thrives due to lack of employment and a stable family environment for these knuckle heads.


But I am not afraid of these urban street gangs rising up and trying to overthrow our government anytime soon. The white supremacy and sovereign movement on the other hand give me cause for pause.  


"The newspaper's report also said the shooters covered the officers' bodies with something featuring the Revolutionary War-era Gadsden flag. The yellow flag, which contains an image of a coiled snake and the words "Don't tread on me," is associated with the conservative Tea Party political movement."


A flag like this one ? Oh yes, I have definitely seen that before.














 

RACE WAR I

Glen Beck is pretty sure that there is a "race war" coming and that President Obama is the man responsible for setting it off. Beck thinks that the president --and many in his administration- are "racists."

I sure hope that white folks aren't counting on Beck to be on the front lines in the war, because Glen doesn't strike me as the type of guy who you want to be in a foxhole with when the going gets tough.

"On his show Friday, Glenn Beck became convinced that many members of the Obama administration act like racists, after breaking down the “anatomy of a racist”: they see groups over individuals, they lack objectivity, and they seek power through conflict. Beck concluded that the president and his allies are trying to sow the seeds of a race war.

Beck has previously leveled these same charges at Obama, calling him a racist who is uncomfortable with white people four years ago, but in an exchange flagged by Right Wing Watch, this time he upped the ante to suggest they are actively pushing for racial violence in the United States.

“It will be a crisis of some sort that will set off a race war or some sort of chaos in the streets. That’s the cycle of hate, and I am convinced that we are now just waiting for the crisis. The seeds are being planted every day and everything that doesn’t become the crisis just becomes another seed, another ember that is waiting to set the entire house on fire.”

He concluded that the “race leaders” in power are going to “take us to places none of us ever want to go.” '[Source]

Just what the hell is a "race leader"? And does Mr. Beck consider himself one?

I am curious to know how much longer this FOX race fetish will last. I suspect that it will last as long as it takes to change the conversation from the travesty of justice in the Trayvon Martin case to placing the blame on the black community for his death.

Meanwhile, we will all just keep building our bunkers for the impending war.

Those mean liberals.

It seems that Glen Beckkk is upset because someone (allegedly) spilled wine on his wife at a park in New York.

 "Reuters) - Glenn Beck, the conservative television and radio host, has taken to his Web site and radio show to complain of a "hostile" reception he and his family met from New Yorkers when they attended an outdoor film screening at a park in midtown Manhattan.

Beck told radio listeners that one person at the Bryant Park movie screening of Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps" on Monday evening shouted at him and his family: "We hate conservatives."

Another spilled a cup of wine on his wife, Tania, which Beck said he believes was a deliberate act of malice.

"As we got up to leave the movie, the crowd broke out in applause that we were finally leaving," he told listeners on his syndicated radio show..." [Article]

Question: Is there a more pathetic individual in this country than Glen Beckkk? The guy makes millions of dollars by being a polarizing figure and a lightning rod, and he cries a river because he gets the business at an outdoor park. Besides, it's not like the guy doesn't have his own security detail with him everywhere that he goes. It must be nice. If someone wants to step to me and try to kick my ass I have to go Kingston 12 on his ass all by my damn self.

Anyway, as is always the case with wingnuts; it seems that Mr. Beck might have been stretching the truth a little bit.

  "It was my friend that spilled the glass of wine on Tanya -and I can assure you that it was a complete accident. A happy one, to be sure, but nonetheless a complete and utter accident. As soon as the wine spilled (and I question how Tanya became soaked from a half glass of wine) apologies were made and my friends pretty much scrambled to give Tanya & co napkins -no doubt aware that it would look terrible and that their actions could be perceived as purposeful. No words were exchanged after that, as I think that it became pretty clear to Beck & co that my friends and I were doing everything in our capacity to help clean the “mess”.    

That quote was from a lady named Lindsey Piscitell who claims that Beckkk is full of it. In fact, from all accounts, it was Beckkk and his bodyguards who made everyone in the park tense.

Still, it is clear from the accounts that I have read that Ms. Piscitell has no love for Beckkk, so the truth could be somewhere in the middle.

Beckkk has once again put himself in the spotlight by crying "woe is me". And, of course, his minions are eating it up. "Those liberals are so mean and nasty." 
Stop it! Nothing was going to happen to Glen Beckkk or his family, and if someone even thought about stepping over the line, those well paid bodyguards would have done their jobs.

So Glen, here is a suggestion: Next time dial up Netflix and watch "Birth of a Nation" in that beautiful home theater you have there in your Connecticut estate.

Blogger, you "tripppin"!

Folks, don't ask me what happened to your comments from a couple of days ago, they are lost in bloggerland somewhere. Apparently, blogger has had some issues over the past 48 hours and comments going to bloggerland is the unfortunate results of said issues.

Oh well, until I have enough time to focus on the technical side of blogging I think I am stuck with these Google folks. Blogger is just so much easier for a non-techy like moi.

Anywhoo, I wanted to blog about this last night; the feud between Glen Beckkk and the McCain women.

It turns out that Beckkk has been making fun of Meghan McCain for baring it all for skin cancer. He doesn't like the fact that she appears "Naked" in a PSA for that cause. Beckkk, forever classy, kept pretending to be vomiting and said the following:

"Oh, I got something bad. Might be that Meghan McCain. When I look at the picture, I think to myself, I get the point, put some extra clothes on," Beck said, suggesting that McCain wear a burqa. [Article]

Glenn Beckkk talking to Meghan McCain about her skin? Now there is the pot calling the kettle...wait, that's not a good analogy. It's more like the Tupperware bowl calling the coffeemaker white. Anyway, understandably, Meghan's Mom took offense to Mr. Beckkk's comments and took a shot of her own:

"I'm so glad Glenn Beck is leaving Fox. Enough vitriol and hate. Glenn you are no rodeo clown. They are decent and nice. You aren't..."

Ouch! The McCains weren't done, daddy McCain took a shot at the wingnut bloviator as well:

"I now think I can relate more closely to Harry Truman who took some umbrage at a critic that criticized his daughter's singing," McCain said. "...I don't think I should dignify that kind of behavior with a comment." [Article]

Double ouch!

Finally, speaking of the aforementioned John McCain, I am so glad he exposed the wingnuts for the liars that they are. They tried very hard to push the meme that torture led us to Bin Laden. It did not. And McCain was honest enough to say so.

Maybe this is why wingnuts are going after his family.

MLK vitriol, and Glenn Beck believes that the killing of six people is funny.

It's getting close to MLK's birthday again, and the usual nutcases are coming out of the woodwork as they usually do this time of year. God forbid you Negroes have an American hero like the rest of us.

"Born Michael King Jr., the man known to the world as Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. has continued to be an enigma. Both revered and reviled, he has been a force to be reckoned since he led the historic march in Selma, Ala., in 1965 and continues to be so even in death.

Oh my! I know that all of you Negroes with one of those fans with brother Martin's picture on the back are going to be pissed at that one.

Hmmmm, a "sexual degeenerate". I wonder if he was any worse than my man Thomas Jefferson?

Finally, someone told me to turn on 1210 AM here in Philly this morning and listen to the radio. I flipped on the little desk top radio in my office and all I heard was laughter and joking. It took me awhile to figure out that it was Glenn Beckkk's radio program and that he was yucking it up with his co-hosts about the killings in Arizona.

One joke after another; about the president, Joe Scarborough, and then some congresswoman named Louise Slaughter. Apparently they have a history.("Oh no we can't use that name,-Slaughter- they might want to shut us down" Ha ha ha ha!!!")

Glenn, I am glad that you and your cronies think that the death of six people (including a nine year old girl) is funny. The rest of us are not laughing.

BTW, I am still waiting for Sarah Palin to apologize for putting the congresswoman in the cross hairs of her political rifle.

"At long last, sir, have you no sense of decency?"

No he didn't Mr. Welsh. No he didn't.

You have to love when people revisit history and try to put their own spin on it. Better yet, when they start trying to make us forget about the deeds of certain historical figures. Take wingnuts and Joe McCarthy, for instance.

All of a sudden, Joe, to them, is a real A-merry-can hero. A man who was simply misunderstood by the masses, and smeared in a negative way by a progressive press and Ivy League academics. Well, they are fighting back, and they are putting a more positive spin on Joe in academic circles themselves. The largest voice for this new and improved Joe McCarthy is one Glen Beck. He has declared that McCarthy was right all along ,and is warning A-merry-ca about the new "red scare": (No, not the spies they caught living among us last week. ) The beige man in the White House and his Socialist policies. Ironically, I see many similarities between McCarthy and some of the posers on the right today: The lies. The big pulpit and resources to spread them.

"I have here in my hand a list of two-hundred-and-five - a list of names that were made known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party and who nonetheless are still working and shaping policy in the State Department."

That, of course, was a lie. He had no such list. Just remember that the next time Beck and his friends start telling you about some deep dark secret they are keeping about his O ness or someone in his administration.

And let us not forget who Joseph McCarthy really was:

"On McCarthy’s first day in office, he called a press conference to air his proposal for the end of a coal miner’s strike led by labor leader John L. Lewis. His proposal was for the coal miners, including Lewis, to be drafted into the military, and then when they refused to mine coal, they were to be court martialed for insubordination and then shot.."

"Next, McCarthy turned to book banning. His researchers found that the Overseas Library Program contained 30,000 books written by "communists, pro-communists, former communists, and anti-anti-communists." After the list was published, those books were banished from the library."

And,

Confrontational hearings led to sensational charges, but there was little hard evidence to support McCarthy's charges. He identified Johns Hopkins University professor Owen Lattimore as the number one Soviet spy in America. "

There is more, but I will spare you. Go read your history books. Before Beck and company rewrites them.

What happened to "Barry" Mr. President?

I won't be watching the Winter Olympics this year, because unfortunately the Jamaican bobsledding team was eliminated from that competition.

Anywhoo, tonight I want to talk about names. Yes names. It seems that the voice of the wingnuts, Glenn Beck, is at it again. This time he is making a federal case of the president's name. Apparently Mr. Beck really has issues with the name Obama, especially when my man had such a nice Christian name like Barry and ditched it. See folks, it's like this: If you are a true A-merry-can (especially one who was called to lead the rest of us) you just can't go ditching your A.-merry-can name for something so un-A-merry-can. I think they call that "nativism". But Beck and his friends are good at that. (And they call me the racism chaser.)

John Knefel over at True Slant sums things up pretty well:

"Respected race theorist Glenn Beck has made the world a better place, as he is want to do, by — wait for it — stoking White, nativist fears about our crazy black man president and his crazy black man president name. Beck, to his credit, has found what works — stoking White, nativist fear — and he has stuck with it. No point in reinventing the wheel, or, in Beck’s case, the Hood. Welcome to Barack-gate 2010!

The earnest folks over at Media Matters noted yesterday that on Beck’s ham radio program, Let’s Get Racial!, the tolerant host voiced his displeasure with this “Barack” (!?) Obama character, specifically this “Barack” (WTF!?) part of his name:

[Barack Obama] chose to use his name Barack for a reason — to identify, not with America — you don’t take the name Barack to identify with America. You take the name Barack to identify with what? Your heritage?" The heritage, maybe, of your father in Kenya, who is a radical? Is — really?"

Hmmm, "race theorist". Is that what what they are calling guys like Beck these days?

Anyway, we always knew that some folks in A-merry-ca were uncomfortable with the president's name. Mr. Beck is just now confirming it for us. And he thinks he really got his O ness with an Aha moment by uncovering what Knefel is calling "Barack-gate 2010".

"Beck has already devoted time on his show to focusing on the super-important-Arabian fact that Obama’s middle name is Hussein, but apparently the fascination with the president’s name hasn’t quite worn out yet. So, okay, let’s pick this xenophobic rant apart.

I’m going to stop you right there. Beck bravely posits here is that there is some set of things called “American,” and that the name Barack, a resoundingly African-sounding name, is not a member of that set. This catalogue of ”American Things” is, presumably, set in stone. WOP-y names such as Giuliani and filthy-mick names such as O’Brien have always been as American as apple pie, whereas weird names like “Barack” will never be.

'You take the name Barack to identify with what? Your heritage? The heritage, maybe, of your father in Kenya, who is a radical?'"

Well let's just go ahead and give Mr. Beck the Peabody Award for excellence in journalism right now. What an idiot.

Having said all of that, I know what I don't want to see; civil rights groups crying a river because Beck is on the radio saying what his listeners want to hear. Please get over it. The Glenn Becks of the world aren't going anywhere, so focus on mobilizing people to vote and to become more involved with the political process. Let them know that the best way to get back at Glenn Beck and other xenophobes like him is to put more people with funny sounding names or who look different than he does into office.

Is America afraid of black conservatives? Glen Beck seems to think so.

"And for my peeps I truly care Cause without some of them I wouldn't be here And they all know how I feel Cause suckers be like playin themselves to have mass appeal" ~Gang Starr~

A lot of my conservative cousins were on Glen Beck's show this past Friday seeking mass appeal. (They called it "Friday The 13th Nightmare for Liberals: Black Conservatives." Honestly, Beck scares me every time I hear or see him. He didn't need a bunch of black conservatives to be frightening.) I am sure they got it, too. But who was the masses that they were appealing to? And why would they even want to appeal to these people?

Now don't get me wrong, (And this is going to surprise some of you left leaning black folk.) but I have nothing but love for some black conservatives. Contrary to popular belief I do not consider them all "Toms" or House Negroes. I understand, as much as anyone, that black folks are not monolithic, and my ideas and way of thinking is not necessarily by itself the paradigm for how success should be achieved within the black community. So when I hear conservatives -be they black or white- with what they think are real and meaningful solutions to solving some of the problems within the black community, I am usually all ears. Their stance on school vouchers and education, for instance, is closer to mine than you would think. I am also all for economic empowerment and a lightening of the tax burden in certain economically deprived neighborhoods. Not to mention tax incentives for companies who invest their money and resources in poorer urban communities. I could go on, but I think you get the picture. There just might be more that unites us than separates us.

Now, having said all of that, I still have to take issue with some of these conservative Negroes.

I like analogies, so I will use one here. Imagine, if you will, that Colin Powell is the republican president of these divided states of A-merry-ca. Imagine he has some very bold programs which are pissing off left wingers and progressives. Left wing commentator, Keith Olbermann, has built his entire schtick on tearing down president Powell, and he has gone as far as to call him a self hating Uncle Tom on his program. Olbermann is now catching heat from his sponsors and various folks in the main stream for his daily vituperation about Powell and his overall vitriolic tone. To show the world that he is not a bad guy and that he really loves black people, he asks a bunch of black progressives to come on his show and take a stand with him against the current path of the Powell administration. Now I ask you, how many left leaning black folks do you think would appear on his show? Take a minute and think about it, and try to be honest with yourself when you come up with your answer.... Here, let me help you; Keith Olbermann would have more camera men than he does people in his studio. Unlike my friend Mr. Beck who had a studio full of you conservative folks- with probably as much lined up outside- Olbermann would find very little if any takers.

And this is the problem I have with some of you black conservatives; you are just so quick with the massa good the rest of dem Negroes bad rant that it's hard to be serious with you when you try to talk policy. I just keep hearing that music over your voices. The one with the catchy tune that makes me want to jig.

Still, I am glad for you folks and the fact that you got your shine on. Just be careful where that shine is coming from. (I once represented a guy who was on an episode of Cops. I am just sayin.) If you think Glen Beck is really your friend and that he really has your best interest at heart, go on and represent on his show. It might make you famous. Hell, you might even get a gig on Radio Rwanda. If, on the other hand, you are just trying to get your shine on, there has to be a better way. You don't want to be just props to further someone's agenda. Where did I hear that before? Oh yeah, I think it was "Gump" over at Crooks & Liars. Gump doesn't sound so scared to me.

"Let's bring in a bunch of blackies as props to further an agenda. It really doesn't get much more racist than this segment. What's even worse is these people willing to sell out their culture for conservatism. They know history and the truth when it comes to conservatives. I wonder how much cash Murdoch gave these people to stage this disgusting display.
This would be like me appearing in a segment about the mafia supporting conservatism because my ancestry goes back to Sicily. Fucking pathetic."

Stop it Gump, those are my cousins you are talking about. You pick on one of us, you will have to pick on us all. They were not "props", they did it for their people. They did it for America.

I wanted to blog about 09-11-01 today and the horrors that we always associate with that day, but I can't. I just don't have the stomach for it. Besides, what else can be said that has not already been discussed dissected and pondered by all of us?

Tonight, instead, I want to blog about a few people in A-merry-ca who are carrying us down a road that will ultimately lead us to a place in this country where what happened on 9-11-01 will pale in comparison.

Tomorrow, those people are planning a march on Washington. They are a part of Glenn Beck's 09-12 movement (his name not mine) and an assortment of conservatives-including the"tea baggers"- and self described angry citizens who want to take back A-merry-ca. (I sure hope they storm the BET studios, they would be doing us all a favor.)"The Million Mob March" as some are calling it will be a loud call to the black man inside the people's house to give us our country back, and to take his black ass back to Chicago with his militant A-merry-ca hating wife. Joe Wilson calling him out days before the big march was right on time.

It should be interesting. If only people on the left had such passion. I wonder if there will be counter protesters? I swear, there is nothing like a black man in the people's house to fire up the masses and get them organized. They are calling it an "uprising". A "conservative counter revolution". I wonder when our revolution against the conservative revolution is going to start? Or do we even need a revolution because our boy is in the White House? I think we need a revolution because our boy isn't even really our boy. He is still trying to be president for all A-merry-cans, including the people who are revolting against him. Man this revolution shit sure is confusing.

But I will give the conservative revolutionaries credit. Lately they have have stepped up their attacks. They scalped Van Jones, and went under- cover to expose the ACORN folks. The three pronged attack of Drudge, Beck, and Brietbart have been working overtime. (BTW, unlike Keith Olbermann, who made the call and then backed away from it. Let me say this right here and now for the record: If anyone has any dirt on any of these guys, please shoot the field an e-mail. I will be glad to blog about it. I am not a journalist, so please don't expect me to care of it's accurate or not.)

Yes you always have to be careful of the sun. You don't want to end up looking like the guy who is in your house.

A face only a mama and wingnuts could love.

I have to give props to the crew over at Color Of Change for taking on Glen Beck, (You know him don't you? He is the former drug addict and certifiable crazy person -his mother killed herself because she suffered from schizophrenia-) and the folks at FOX News. So far they have gotten over thirty advertisers to withdraw their ads from Beck's show. Of course that's kind of easy for these companies to justify doing when the guy is calling the president of these divided states "a racist".

But now, of course, Beck is fighting back. And he is doing it by going after Van Jones, who was with Color Of Change a couple years ago, but now has a prominent position with the Obama administration. Forget the fact that Jones has not been with Color Of Change for a couple of years, and that he currently has absolutely nothing to do with the organization.

This is from the LA Times: "During a six-minute biographical profile, set to ominous music, Beck said Jones was twice arrested for political protests and has described himself as a "rowdy black nationalist." The talk show host cast the piece as part of a broader examination of Obama's "czars," special advisers to the president who "don't answer to anybody.""Why is it that such a committed revolutionary has made it so high into the Obama administration as one of his chief advisers?"

“Glenn Beck is trying to change the subject,” said James Rucker, executive director of Color of Change, who noted that Jones has not been active with the group in almost two years. “The issue is his baseless fear mongering.”

Now I have to give a disclaimer here: I have absolutely no problem with the incivility of political discourse as it now stands here in A-merry-ca. When it comes to politics, I am not a very civil person. But I respect those who are, and who fight their battles by quietly organizing. Which brings me to the Color Of Change people.

I have met Gabriel Goodlatte (A dead ringer for Vince from "Entourage") and James Rucker a couple of times, and they seem to be classy hard working individuals, who have mobilized thousands of people with their hard work and online activism. This latest boycott against the people who advertise with Beck is an example of what can happen when people organize around a common cause and goal. The fact that Beck and his minions are fighting back means that it is having an effect.

Glen Beck is going to get his millions of viewers every night. He will continue to see black helicopters and stoke up fear among the...ahem ahem, less educated citizens among us about the black bogeyman living on Pennsylvania Avenue. But that doesn't mean that the rest of us can't flex our collective muscles as well. As long as there is a cultural and social divide in this country we might as well pick our sides and dig in for a long hard battle. Personally, I welcome it. I love the smell of charred red necks in the morning. I hate Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, and the rest of the right wing hate merchants who push inflammatory rhetoric, like I do cancer. Actually, I hate them more. At least, with cancer, damn near everyone can agree that it is a terrible thing to be afflicted with. Sadly, the idiots who embrace these phonies, never realize that they are sick.

It's working!

I have to admit, I always considered Rush Limbaugh to be somewhat of a joke. A blowhard and entertainer who mastered the art of political entertainment. I know he has his loyal devotees, but I always thought those people were on the fringes of society to begin with. Most people, I thought, just listened to him to be entertained and to enjoy his truculent exchanges with his political foes.

But now.....I don't know Rush, if this is all a game for you, maybe it's time you came clean. Hell you made enough money. Just go on down to DR and have fun with your under aged friends (allegedly, supposedly, and all that stuff) and call it a day. I mean this is getting dangerous.

I think you have fired up the base enough. To them, this is not just entertainment and political theater. To them, this is about the Kenyan and his ultra liberal buddies taking their beloved country. Rush, I don't think they can tell the difference between reality and entertainment, but I think you already know that.

Even for you, the Nazi stuff was over the top. You and Beck with all this Nazi talk is starting to scare us normal thinking folks. ("Killing the elderly and the newborn"? Are you serious?) Quite a few of the people on the right side of the political spectrum are just looking for the slightest reason to snap, and the events of the last few days have convinced me that it doesn't take too much to send them over the edge. But I am starting to think that Rush knows that, too.

Rush went as far as to compare the Obama health care logo to a Nazi symbol, and he suggested that it was intentional.

Don't laugh. This is how Rush compares the dems to Nazis:

"Well, the Nazis were against big business -- they hated big business. And of course we all know that they were opposed to Jewish capitalism. They were insanely, irrationally against pollution. They were for two years mandatory voluntary service to Germany. They had a whole bunch of make-work projects to keep people working, one of which was the Autobahn. They were against cruelty and vivisection of animals, but in the radical sense of devaluing human life, they banned smoking. They were totally against that. O my O man, who knew? And here I thought your were just another smooth talking politician who knew how to navigate between black and white worlds. A unifier; a consensus builder. You were never one of those black racist; you are someone who preaches love not hate. But apparently, the white Kanye West, Glen Beck, doesn't think so. ["Gorge Bush doesn't care about black people". (I know Kanye, but he is gone now.)] Seems Beck called you out on FOX NEWS and said you were a racist. Yep, he did it. He said you had issues with white people. You know what that means O man? It means that you hated your mama, and that just might mean that you have some serious issues not only with white people, but with women as well.

But seriously, for those of you who are surprised at Mr. Beck's remarks, you must not have been reading this blog for the past year. I tried to tell you about FOX and their agenda, and you all kept telling me that I am focusing on the wrong thing. That FOX NEWS is just being FOX NEWS and I should move on and leave them alone. Well, maybe now that they are ratcheting up the race baiting on your boy, you will see where I am coming from. Beck and company are not stupid. They know the people that they are trying to attract in this country. By telling them Obama is a racist he is telling them that it's cool for them to be racists as well. Hey, he hates you, so why not hate him? It's kind of simple when you break it down isn't it?

Now I know I know, Beck is an entertainer, and so is Kanye. But the difference is, Kanye West is a rapper and musician, Glen Beck is a political commentator, who reaches millions of his fellow A-merry-cans every day on his radio program and every night on his television show. Kanye West spoke out of anger and disgust from the heart about one of the greatest tragedies in A-merry-ca's history. What is Beck's motivation? Because his O ness rightfully called some racist cop stupid? I heard a lady on MSNBC tonight and she made a good point: Beck will always get corporate sponsors who want his show to do well, because this type of rhetoric divides the races and plays right into their (the corporations) hands. God forbid poor black and white people ever get together in this country, it would shake up the entire apple cart. Talk about crabs in a barrel. Poor people in this country are in one big fucking crab barrel.

Beck is trying to reach those poor white people in the barrel and believe me, he doesn't want them to crawl out. Sadly, it's working, I am sure most of you have heard by now about the racist cop in Boston. No, not Jim Crow, [thanks Rippa] the one on the Boston P.D. who was caught sending racist messages about Skip gates via e-mail. The one who I am sure listens to Glen Beck and others like him every day, and who believes that the race war is coming.

It's funny how racism works isn't it? I get accused of being a racist and racism chaser all the time. It's bullshit, but I will wear that badge, because I am passionate about this shit, and I am cynical when it comes to matters of race. His O ness, on the other hand, is trying to be a race neutral icon, and yet, white folks won't let him. They throw the racist label at him like Pedro Martinez fastball and hope it hits him right between the eyes. He dodges and ducks, and tries everything to appease them, (Beer anyone?) but they keep throwing. Why? Because race neutral icons might actually make it cool to do away with ignorance for one minute, that's why.

Anyway, while the Glen Becks of the world does his thing. The field Negroes of the world will do theirs. Unlike the house Negroes who want to make nice with him and his ilk, we will be over here calling him and everyone like him on his bullshit. And we will call the house Negroes on it, too. They might want to be around people who despise everything about their black asses, but us field Negroes will pass and continue to make them uncomfortable. You can call it crabs in a barrel if you want to, but it's far from it. Some of you crabs can haul your black asses right out of the barrel, I guarantee you that the rest of us won't even care. Besides, you will only be going to another bigger whiter barrel with a lot more crabs.
