Proposition Hate.

It wasn't supposed to be this way. I am from Jamaica, one of the most homophobic places on the planet, and my daddy was a preacher, so don't ask me how I got to this place, and developed this mindset. A mindset that says in spite of the fact that I don't equate the LGBT movement with the civil rights movement; it doesn't mean that I don't see the nobility of their cause, or the fundamental unfairness of those who would oppose it. I can understand how someone who is Gay could feel as strong as they do about their civil rights as citizens. It is, after all, their struggle and their humanity that is being questioned.

So let's talk about Proposition 8 out in California for a minute: This ballot proposition which would amend the California state Constitution and make it illegal for two people of the same sex to get married. To be more specific, the language says that it's purpose is "to eliminate rights of same sex couples to marry." Interesting. To "eliminate" the right of two adult individuals to marry each other. Two adult individuals! And here is the kicker: this proposed ballot amendment did get a yes vote; so now it is alright to eliminate the rights of same sex couples in California to get married.

Now here is the irony: This little ballot initiative could not have won a YES vote without the overwhelming support of the African American community out in Cali. Seems the pim....I mean the preachers told their congregations in no uncertain terms to vote YES for this amendment, or California would become a modern day Sodom & Gomorrah. But this one we wouldn't destroy with fire and brimstone, this one we would destroy with the power of the vote. Nope, can't have those Gay sinners defiling our precious institutions, that's the preacher's job.

[Non monolithic alert!] But black folks, how soon you forget. Here is the other bit of irony: the very LDS church you teamed up with to get this amendment passed didn't even consider your black asses good enough to be priests in their own church just a few short years ago. Now here you are teaming up with them to support bigotry and discrimination. Sorry family, I will have to part with you on this one. I don't care how many of you came out and pushed YES for proposition 8, that shit was just wrong. And I know that there are certain complexities within the LGBT community (such as the treatment of LGBT minorities by whites in that group), which needs to be addressed ( see "dark moon's" comments about this issue on the thread a couple of posts back), but that's for another time. The crap that is going on now is all that I am concerned with.

Over seventeen million dollars? Wow! Bigotry is sure getting expensive these days. Whatever happened to the days when you could just cut up some sheets, hook up a make shit cross and just burn the motherfucker? I guess times have changed. But field, the people voted for it, what's your problem, don't you believe in democracy? From the early 1600's to 1865 A-merry-cans universally accepted slavery, but that didn't make it right. Oh come on field are you equating slavery to two men or women not being able to marry each other? They can still have civil unions, why do they have to call it marriage? I guess, and we can all still drink the same water, what's wrong with separate drinking fountains?

Goodbye "white guilt".

"There go my fellow conservatives, glumly shuffling along, depressed by the election aftermath. Not me. I'm virtually euphoric. Don't get me wrong. I'm not thrilled with America's flirtation with neosocialism. But there's a massive silver lining in the magical clouds that lofted Barack Obama to the presidency. For today, without a shred of intellectually legitimate opposition, I can loudly proclaim to America:

The Era of White Guilt is over.

This seemingly impossible event occurred because the vast majority of white Americans didn't give a fluff about skin color and enthusiastically pulled the voting lever for a black man. Not just any black man. A very liberal black man who spent his early career race-hustling banks, praying in a racist church for 20 years, and actively working with America-hating domestic terrorists. Yet white Americans made Barack Obama their leader. Therefore, as of Nov. 4, 2008, white guilt is dead.

So today, I'm feeling a little 'uppity,' if you will. For more than a century, the millstone of white guilt hung around our necks, retribution for slave-owning predecessors. In the 1960s, American liberals began yanking that millstone while sticking a fork in the eye of black Americans, exacerbating the racial divide to extort a socialist solution to the country's problems. But if a black man can become president, exactly what significant barrier is left? The election of Barack Obama destroys the validation of liberal white guilt. The dragon is hereby slain.

So today, I'm feeling a little "uppity," if you will. From this day forward, my tolerance level for having my skin color hustled is exactly ZERO. No more Rev. Jeremiah Wright's "God Damn America," Al Sharpton's Church of Perpetual Victimization, or Jesse Jackson's rainbow racism. Cornel West? You're a fraud. All those 'black studies' programs must now teach kids to thank Whitey. And I want that on the final.

Congressional Black Caucus? Irrelevant. U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.)? Shut up. ACORN? Outlawed. Black Panthers? Go home and pet your kitty. Black separatists? Find another nation that offers better dreams. To those Eurosnots who forged careers hating America? I'm still waiting for the first black French president.
No more quotas. No more handouts. No more complaining that 'the man' is keeping you down. 'The man' is now black.

It's time to toss that massive, obsolete race-hustle machine upon the heap of the other stupid '60s ideas. Drag it over there, right between free love and cop-killing. Careful, don't trip on streaking. Just dump it. And then wash your hands. It's filthy. Obama's ascension also creates another gargantuan irony. How can liberals sell American racism, class envy and unfairness when our new black president and his wife went to Ivy League schools, got high-paying jobs, became millionaires, bought a mansion, and are now moving to the White House? How unfair is that? Now, like a delicious O. Henry tale, Obama's spread-the-wealth campaign rendered itself moot by its own victory! America is officially a meritocracy. Obama's election has validated American conservatism.

So ... Wham!!!
That's the sound of my foot kicking the door shut on the era of white guilt. The rites have been muttered, the carcass lowered, dirt shoveled, and tombstone erected. Dead and buried."

That brilliant proclamation was from a conservative hack by the name of Tom Adkins, writing in my hometown paper, The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Interesting; so it was "white guilt" and not a heart felt belief in the credos of our fine republic that caused our government to finally view us as equals. Not people like John Lewis getting their asses kicked, and Martin Luther King getting killed, that caused this country to stand up and take notice of the inequities that existed in society. It was "white guilt".

Damn it, I wish I had found that out earlier. I would have just found college professors, bankers, and bosses who suffered from "white guilt'' and demanded that they give me a break...

Anyway, little black boys and little black girls, don't let this discourage you. Study hard, work hard, and do not bow to outside influences. You hold the future in your hands and you can be anything in life that you set your mind to. "White guilt" is officially over, but unfortunately, idiots like Mr. Adkins are still around.

"The White Grandmother Effect"

As election day drew closer in these past elections, and the polls consistently gave his O ness a slight lead over Mr. Morton, the phrase "Bradley Effect" was on every ones mind. No one (including yours truly) thought that the polls were correct, because we thought that a large percentage of white voters would lie to the pollsters. And now, in retrospect, we can see that the "Bradley Effect" may or may not have had an effect on what the polls were showing, but we know now that it had no effect on the final results.

But I submit to you that another phenomenon did. It's called "The White Grandmother Effect", and it just might possibly be the real reason why his O ness put an old time ass whopping on the former Navy pilot this past Tuesday.

I use a co-worker of mine as an example: This guy, a middle aged Italian, admitted to me that he and his 88 year old mother were ambivalent about these elections and about voting. That is until they heard the tragic story of the O man's grandmother and they saw her pictures on television. The guy confessed to me that his mother cried when she saw the story and decided right then and there to put one down for his O ness. "That poor woman would have wanted to see her grandson become president", he told me she said. I suspect that many people (black and white) connected to this story on many levels. Who among us does not have an older family member that we love dearly, but unfortunately did not live long enough to see us achieve certain milestones in our lives? This story stuck that kind of chord with many of us, and it was made even more tragic by the timing of the poor woman's death.

One of the most brilliant things the Obama campaign dis as election day drew closer, was to run ads featuring Obama with his grandmother. This made folks in the majority population who don't vote issues but identity connect with his O ness on a personal level. Obama by virtue of being Obama, son of a Kenyan father, already connected with black folks, we saw him as one of us. Those television ads featuring his mother's side of the family made him palatable to white folks as well. He became one of them, too.

Now this was the first and I am sure it will be the last time that the "White Grandma Effect" will be a factor in A-merry-can politics, so don't expect it to get as much play as the "Bradley Effect". Still, for this one historic election, it could have been the difference maker. Maybe someone can do a poll about that one day.....ahh never mind, people will just lie to the pollsters about that as well.

Field's free advice to the republicans.

On the day when his O ness had his first press conference (Damn it O man I heard you were 30 minutes late. White folks won't tell you, so I will: You better cut that "CP" shit out right now. You are POTUS damn it, set an example. At least I know you are black now), and the republicans continue to wonder just what the hell hit them on election day. I am going to try and help out my republican friends a little bit. I hope folks like Kevin Ross, Mhandisa, a2dak, and some of my other right leaning friends are reading this, because I want them to pass it on to some of the folks in the "R" tent.

Right now the rethugs are in some serious trouble. They are now clearly the minority party in this country and things aren't looking like they are going to get better anytime soon. They control just 14 out of the 50 state legislatures, just 21 governors, and they lost even more seats in this past general election. As Domenic Montanaro, writing for msnbc.com said: "The are perceived by many voters as being either incompetent, corrupt, or just not standing for much." Now that's a mouthful, but it's true. George Bush, backward thinking leaders, and the religious right (which, again, is neither) have pretty much assured the republicans that they will be playing second fiddle in A-merry-can politics for awhile to come. And, in a way, that's a shame, not because I agree with much of what they ever have to say, but because I believe that we need a strong two party system in this country. I love a rigorous debate.

It seems like not too long ago the democrats were in this very same position, and republicans and their conservative movement dominated everything politics in this country. Every A-merry-can wanted to be identified as a conservative, and every A-merry-can was running from the "L" word. (How dare you call me a liberal? Those are fighting words, take that back) But what a difference a bad president and poor campaign to become president can make. Now they are the butt of all of our late night jokes, and no one (except the folks at FOX) wants to be associated with these losers. Even the people who worked together to win the presidency are fighting among themselves . Can it get any worse than this?

I hate to tell you this my republican friends, but it can. In fact, it can get much worse. Your base is getting older, whiter, and more dogmatic when it comes to their religion. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is getting younger, more mixed, and more tolerant when it comes to religion.

So here is my suggestion to you: (You can thank me later)

Find a message that is more inclusive and stick to it. "Compassionate Conservative" was a good one, you just had the wrong guy talking about it.

Cut some of those religious fanatics loose. They scare people. No one, not even people who consider themselves religious, wants to hear a bunch of bible thumpers telling them how to live their lives and demanding that their politicians pass some kind of a god test. Trust me on this one, all those Southern white folks in those five thousand congregation mega churches ain't voting for a democrats no matter what you do to them, so just leave them alone.

Start getting more involved with African American professional organizations and groups. And start trying to recruit young African Americans to your fold. Go to HBCU's, go to churches, go to community organizations, and get engaged. Have open frank discussion, sponsor open microphone forums and debates, and put some of your people in there and tell your side of the story, and what it is that you think makes your party better. Go on in the hood, contrary to what you might have heard, black folks don't bite. And don't worry about getting shot or killed, we only do that to each other.

Stop being demagogues with issues like welfare, crime, and taxes. That is old now; most A-merry-cans can see right through that. You can only go to that well but so much. They know that you are trying to say that only black folks get welfare, only black folks commit crimes, and that all of your tax dollars are going to take care of black folks. But they know it's bullshit, because they know that most of the taxes are going to fund the war in Iraq, quite a few white families are having to depend on the government, and crime can happen anywhere. Even on college campuses, and in lily white high schools.

Lose some of your media people who have become the face of your party. Fred Barnes? Charles Krauthammer? Robert Novak? Come on now.

We need to see more of Bobby Jindal, and any other republican of color that you can find to prop up on the National stage. You have got to find your own version of Obama and fast. Maybe you can get Jessie Jackson, Jr. to switch parties.

And while we are on the subject of black folks representing your party; please send a memo to FAKE NEWS right now, and beg them to stop featuring Negroes like Jesse Lee Peterson as your token black republican. The shit is embarrassing to you, and to us black folks. Not one thinking black person in A-merry-ca will take a serious look at your party if they see Jesse on television as being indicative of the type of black folks that you attract . And another thing, tell the black folks that you do put out there to stop bashing their own people. That shit was played out with Cos. Tell them to offer what they think are real solutions to black A-merry-ca's problems. Tell them to talk about things like school choice, minority business empowerment zones, tougher gun laws, tax breaks for businesses who set up sho*[p] and hire from underprivileged neighborhoods. And tell them to talk about private and religious based volunteer programs, as well as community outreach organizations that your party would be glad to get involved with.

I mean there is more, but I a have given you enough free advice for one night. Besides, if you guys aren't smart enough to figure this thing out, you don't deserve our vote or our support.

Now, please keep in mind that this does not apply to the highest office in the land. I am talking about local governments, as well as congressional and statewide races here. The presidency you can pretty much forget until at least 2016. Because these Negroes ain't voting for nobody else but their man, Obama. And unless you can get a new and improved model of his O ness real quick, it's pretty much a wrap.

*Thanks Robert M

Goodbye Sarah.

Hello hello, Vice President Palin, this is Nelson Mandela.

Oh hi, hello there Mr. President, so nice of you to call and congratulate me.

And let me say for the record that I think Africa is a beautiful country, my husband Todd and I plan to visit one day......

Okay, that conversation didn't happen, but it could have. Just imagine what would have happened if we had elected the beauty queen and Mr. Morton. Can you imagine? Our Vice President not knowing that Africa is a continent, and not a country? Or, not knowing the countries in North America. My god A-merry-cans, what were we thinking? We almost put this woman one heart beat away from the button.

And now that the campaign is over Mr. Morton's people are pointing fingers and the knives are out. Seems our girl was off the chain; greeting McCain staffers in her towel, spending way more on her little shopping sprees ("Wasila Hillbillies") than we thought. And get this; girlfriend even wanted to get her two cents in when when Mr. Morton gave his concession speech in Arizona. . Now folks, I know some of you didn't like it when I was blogging non stop about this dangerous woman during the campaign; and for awhile, you had Palin burnout. But maybe you all can see now why I did it.

I was terrified at what might have been. I was very afraid that the A-merry-can people would fall for this grand hoodwink. I saw another George Bush (albeit a more "attractive" one) coming to get us. And I was scared. But thank god it didn't happen, and smarter heads prevailed.
Let this be a lesson to you A-merry-cans: Be careful of lipstick wearing pigs.

I am glad that we are sending Obama and Biden to Washington as our leaders for obvious reasons. But let's keep it real with each other; they were clearly more qualified than their opponents. And if you need further proof of it, just read the reports that are going to be coming out over the next few days about the stuff that went on behind the scenes in Mr. Morton's campaign.

Anyway, here is hoping that Sarah goes back to the Alaska wilderness with her Witch Doctor, her separatist husband, her bigoted followers, and her extreme views. And here is hoping that we never have to hear that irritating voice in A-mery-can politics ever again.

Goodbye Sarah, and happy hunting.

Yes They Did!

Who are these people? What drove them? What made them believe in this man and his movement when others did not? On a day when we celebrate one of the greatest days in A-merry-ca's history, let us not forget the people who made this possible: The volunteers the true believers, and the people who worked tirelessly in the trenches to bring what they felt was real change to Washington and to our beleaguered republic. These people, these O-Aide drinking Obamaholics, epitomized what this campaign and this movement was all about.

So today, as the post-mortems begin, and as A-merry-ca starts to realize just how historic this moment is, let us not lose site of the fact that there are still millions of Obamaholics out there who don't want to stop here. They want to volunteer their time and energy to the movement. They want to become a part of something greater than themselves, and they want to contribute to it in any way that they can. Obama touched on these themes while he was campaigning and I hope he follows through. He talked about young people exchanging their time and services for contributions from the government towards their college tuition. He talked about community organizers and elected officials taking a more active roles in their respective communities, and building this country from the ground up. I hope follows through on those themes, because it doesn't take a lot of money to make that happen, all it takes is the bull horn from the bully pulpit.

And the Obamaholics will listen and heed the call. The frat boy blew his chance to unify this nation after 911 and make a real call for service greater than oneself. Let's hope the O man doesn't make the same mistake.

It won't be easy. George Bush and his republican friends did not leave the O man much to work with (that's right give the country to the black man when it is at its worse), and he is going to have to have everyone in A-merry-ca understand that whatever we do, we are going to do it together. Our sacrifices will be shared, it is our country again.

And now a quick public service announcement from the field: Quite a few people have been asking your boy what I am going to do now that the O ness is in the hizhouse. What are you going to have to bitch about now field? No more victimhood field. Are you going to be as hard on your boy as you were George Bush, field?.....

Let me say for the record that I will be right here calling bullshit when I see it. And if you white folks think you are going to be off the hook because a black man is in the beige house, think again. I know the general consensus now is that racism ended on November 4, 2008. Not! And I will be here calling out ignorance as I always have until the day I find Lark Voorhies. And yes, the first day that his O ness messes up, I will be right here calling him on it as well. ("Mess" being a relative term of course) But you Obamaholics knew that, you knew that I sipped the O- Aid but I didn't drink it. Still, let's give the O man a chance, he really inherited a seriously fucked up country. (Thank you George Bush) Rome wasn't built in a day, and O-merica won't be either.

Now about that run.....

Obamaholics, I was wrong

may I eat chicken instead of crow?

Your boy did it, and no one in A-merry-ca is as surprised as I am. Hopefully the real A-merry-ca showed up tonight, and if it was the real A-merry-ca, it's a country that I can say that I am proud to live in. Blacks, Whites, Gays, Asians and Latinos; all of you Obamaholics who stepped up and volunteered with your sweat and tears deserve to be sitting right on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with his O ness. This is your election victory. You could have sat back on your ass like this cynical blogger and say it couldn't happen, but you didn't. You could have said, like this cynical blogger, that A-merry-ca was not ready to elect a black man with a Muslim* name, but you didn't. Instead, you believed, and you started a movement. A movement which will make A-merry-ca a better place for all of us.

I will leave you with some comments that were left on this blog which moved me to tears today:

"I Didn't Vote For Obama Today I have a confession to make. I did not vote for Barack Obama today. I've openly supported Obama since March. But I didn't vote for him today.I wanted to vote for Ronald Woods. He was my algebra teacher at Clark Junior High in East St. Louis, IL. He died 15 years ago when his truck skidded head-first into a utility pole. He spent many a day teaching us many things besides the Pythagorean Theorem. He taught us about Medgar Evers, Ralph Abernathy, John Lewis and many other civil rights figures who get lost in the shadow cast by Martin Luther King, Jr.But I didn't vote for Mr. Woods.I wanted to vote for Willie Mae Cross. She owned and operated Crossroads Preparatory Academy for almost 30 years, educating and empowering thousands of kids before her death in 2003. I was her first student. She gave me my first job, teaching chess and math concepts to kids in grades K-4 in her summer program. She was always there for advice, cheer and consolation. Ms. Cross, in her own way, taught me more about walking in faith than anyone else I ever knew.

But I didn't vote for Ms. Cross. I wanted to vote for Arthur Mells Jackson, Sr. and Jr. Jackson Senior was a Latin professor. He has a gifted school named for him in my hometown. Jackson Junior was the pre-eminent physician in my hometown for over 30 years. He has a heliport named for him at a hospital in my hometown. They were my great-grandfather and great-uncle, respectively.But I didn't vote for Prof. Jackson or Dr. Jackson.I wanted to vote for A.B. Palmer. She was a leading civil rights figure in Shreveport, Louisiana, where my mother grew up and where I still have dozens of family members. She was a strong-willed woman who earned the grudging respect of the town's leaders because she never, ever backed down from anyone and always gave better than she got. She lived to the ripe old age of 99, and has a community center named for her in Shreveport.

But I didn't vote for Mrs. Palmer.I wanted to vote for these people, who did not live to see a day where a Black man would appear on their ballots on a crisp November morning.In the end, though, I realized that I could not vote for them any more than I could vote for Obama himself. So who did I vote for?No one.I didn't vote. Not for President, anyway. Oh, I went to the voting booth. I signed, was given my stub, and was walked over to a voting machine. I cast votes for statewide races and a state referendum on water and sewer improvements.I stood there, and I thought about all of these people, who influenced my life so greatly. But I didn't vote for who would be the 44th President of the United States.When my ballot was complete, except for the top line, I finally decided who I was going to vote for - and then decided to let him vote for me. I reached down, picked him up, and told him to find Obama's name on the screen and touch it.And so it came to pass that Alexander Reed, age 5, read the voting screen, found the right candidate, touched his name, and actually cast a vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden.Oh, the vote will be recorded as mine. But I didn't cast it.

Then again, the person who actually pressed the Obama box and the red "vote" button was the person I was really voting for all along. It made the months of donating, phone banking, canvassing, door hanger distributing, sign posting, blogging, arguing and persuading so much sweeter. So, no, I didn't vote for Barack Obama. I voted for a boy who now has every reason to believe he, too, can grow up to be anything he wants...even President."

~~~Mrs. Reed~~~
Damn it, I think I am crying again.
BTW, I hope you folks like my little virtual Broad Street run (thank you ArtMaggot) it might be the only running I will do for awhile.........alright, alright, I won't be a wimp, I will think about the run, and I will post it.
FORTY FOUR?
*
Most of you can tell I like sports analogies and sports in general, and from what I see and hear, so does the O man. Well, if the polls hold (IF), it looks like his O ness might become the 44th president of these divided states. This is in spite of ignorance like this, being pushed by Drudge, and the people like the clown on the *bike captioned here.
The number 44 is a pretty good number to have if you are into sports. It was Jerry West's number, it was Reggie Jackson's number, and it was Hank Aaron's number, as well. That's some pretty good company. And now, in 2008, A-merry-ca is about to put a black man in the house named after her majority population, and make him her 44th president. I have to give it to A-merry-ca, whether his O ness wins or loses, she has come a long way. I read some of the regular posters here who happen to be white, and I have to say that there might still be hope for this crazy country of ours yet. I say might, because for every well meaning person of good will I run into, there is a story of the opposite taking place here in the land of the [some are] free. Today I listened to a young college educated white colleague tell me that he was out with some of his friends (other young educated white people) and he got a rise out of them by telling them that he was voting for Obama. He told me they were racist, I asked him how he knew, and he gave me that look that said; come on field....and I knew exactly what he meant. Young, white, educated, living in a Northeastern city, and they would never vote for a black man. If they feel that way, what's a poor uneducated old white guy living in Appalachia supposed to do? This is why I still feel that my run might be safe. This is why, in spite of her great strides as a nation, I still get so discomposed when I think of some of the shit that goes on here.
Look, if you are not going to vote for the O man because you really believe that his policies are fucked up, well then more power to you. But if you aren't going to vote for him because you just can't stand the thought of that nappy headed family putting their nappy heads on your White House pillows, well then you represent the very worst that this country has to offer. And you make it possible for angry black men who are supposedly living the A-merry-can dream, to have a blog where they can express themselves in clear unambiguous terms how fucked up this country can be to people who really don't have a voice.
So what should we expect tomorrow? I suspect that we will see a huge turnout on both sides, and I suspect that we will be in for a long day. But at the end of the day, whatever happens, it will be historic. When I see stories like this, I damn near tear up just thinking about the significance of what is transpiring in our midst.
So O man, I gotta give it to you; you just might have put some egg on this field Negro's face (don't get any ideas Drudge), and proved me wrong about the qualities of the A-merry-can people and our ability to reach deep down inside and connect to to our better selves.
Good luck tomorrow, and please tell your Obamaholics to behave if you win; or, for that matter, if you lose.
*Now a quick note about the elections here in Philly:
*If you are a felon, you can vote. Here in Pa. that's true even if you are on probation or parole.
*If you lost your home to foreclosure you can still vote, but you must fill out a form at the polling station.
*Polls open here in Pa. at [*6:AM in New Jersey] 7:00AM and close at 8:PM. Thanks Ayana.
*If you have outstanding warrants or parking tickets etc. go and vote. Nothing will happen to you.
*If you are voting for the first time you will be asked to show a valid ID. If you don't happen to have one on you fill out a provisional ballot. (Valid ID is driver's license,passport, military ID,current utility bill, current bank statement, or a government check.
Now go out and VOTE!!!
Sunday, November 02, 2008
The Obama operation is in full swing.
Folks, it's 3:09PM on Sunday afternoon, two days before you Negroes think you will paint the White House black, and I am chilling in my lounger, getting ready to watch my birds play the Seahawks. Buzzzz buzzz buzzz, that's my door bell again for the third time today. Now you have to understand; Mrs. Field is out at Sunday services, worshiping at the Church Of The Mall Discounts, and the kid is alone. Another thing you have to understand is that no one visits the kid on a Sunday evening before an Eagles game. Unless of course, we plan to watch the game together.
Buzzz buzzz buzzz. But I know who it is. There has been two of them already, today. Mrs. Field got the first one because she was still at home. The second one I ignored, after taking a peek outside my window. Buzzz buzzz buzzz. Ahhh fuck it! I decide to get it and to tell yet another O man volunteer to take a fucking hike. YES WE KNOW WHERE WE HAVE TO GO AND VOTE. YES WE KNOW HOW TO GET THERE, AND NO WE DON'T HAVE ANY DAMN QUESTIONS. WELL, I HAVE ONE: DO YOU REALIZE THAT THE EAGLES PLAY TODAY? AND DO YOU EVEN CARE? Damn it O man if your ground game and get out the vote operation is like this in every state, you will either win by a landslide, or lose because your annoying street team pissed off so many people.
Buzzz buzzzz buzzzz. The most beautiful woman I have ever seen in person (With the exception of the beautiful Mrs. Field of course. And I have never seen Lark in person, so she doesn't count) was in a small seaside town on the Island of Haiti, called Jacmel. She just came out of nowhere, went into a place called the iron market, and I never saw her again. That was until I peeped the Obama volunteer at my door. (Yes we can) Do we know where to go? Yes I... I mean we know where to go, and yes we know..... at least I think we know how to get there....but ahhh could you tell me again please? I asked her if she had been working all day, and she said yes. I asked her how she had managed so far, and she said that it had been great, and that the response has been very positive. (I bet it has) She said that she was looking forward to being out a couple of more hours before calling it a wrap. "Make sure you vote", she told me, and "make sure Mrs. ___ gets out too". She gave me a couple of posters and was on her way. Okay O man, I take all that shit back. Even if there was a chance that I might forget to head to the voting booth tomorrow, I guarantee you that there is no way that I forget now.
Yes we can.
Hi, I am field Negro, and I am an Obamaholic. Now let's see if I can watch this game in peace?
November surprise?
Do you know who Zeituni Onyango is? Well, in case you were wondering; republicans are hoping that she will be this year's version of Willi Horton. She is the O man's aunt, and like millions of folks here in the land of the [some are]free, she has a little ICE problem.
So the AP is now reporting that she has been living up in Boston as an undocumented A-merry-can for the past four years, after an immigration Judge denied her asylum status.
"The campaign said Obama has seen Onyango several times over the years, including during a second trip to Kenya with his wife, Michelle. Onyango previously traveled to Chicago on a tourist visa at the Obamas' invitation about nine years ago before visiting friends on the East Coast and returning to Kenya, according to the campaign. Axelrod said Obama did not have a close relationship to Onyango.The campaign will return $265 in contributions that Onyango made to Obama, citing prohibitions against foreign nationals donating to American campaigns."
Poor Aunt Zeituni, looks like the O man is going to have to throw her under the bus as well. Oh well, maybe she can use that $265 to get some nice A-merry-can gifts before she heads back home.
See field, I told you that Obama is a crook, now he is supporting family members who break our laws. No wonder he is for illegal immigration, one of his very own family members is here illegally. Not quite. Sorry republicans, you might have to find another surprise (Lord know s you all have been trying), because this one, like the rest, just won't fly.
Some of our past Presidents have been notorious for having siblings and in laws who run on the wrong side of the law and who are less than model citizens, so the O man wouldn't be the first.
Still, you have to wonder where this latest little leak is coming from. I am guessing somewhere deep in the federal government. (Ahhh those sneaky republicans. Mr. Morton you tried to distance yourself from the frat boy, but he tried to hook you up) But I blame the O man for this little problem, too. He should have done a better job of vetting himself. Leave no stones unturned O man, because you know that the republicans sure as hell wouldn't.
But I gotta give it to the O man, the guy has more luck than a church full of Irishmen. I notice that one of Mr. Morton's main spokespeople said that this was a "family matter", today. So I am guessing that their internal polling must have told them that this issue isn't the winner that they thought it was. And I suspect I know why. Too many Latinos are sympathetic to the plight of undocumented folks in this country. If Mr. Morton and his people start to demagogue this issue, he might have to kiss some of those key Southwestern swing states good bye.
So O man, I hope you are telling the truth about not knowing about your aunt's undocumented status. And if you are covering that shit up, I hope you hid it better than Saddam hid those WMD's. Because right about now, there is a team from FAKE NEWS and republican operatives going over every single form your poor aunt ever signed while she was in this country, and every single piece of paper with her name on it. And O man, you are alright and all, but please don't believe that I am giving you all this advise because I care that much about you. No, I care about myself, and my own peace of mind. You have indoctrinated my wife, and if you were to lose this election to some shady shit, I might as well kiss my marriage good bye, because she will not be a happy camper.
The American people are pretty sensible,” said Obama chief strategist David Axelrod, “and I think they are pretty suspicious of things that are dumped in the marketplace 72 hours before a campaign, so I am not concerned about that.”
I agree with you there Mr. Axelrod; this too will pass. I am just hoping that with three days left to go, this surprise was the last one.
God, guns, and Obama.
Think this election doesn't matter to some folks? Consider this poor guy; he helped to build his own firearms company, and he is a huge Obama supporter. When the poor guy's love of his O ness became public knowledge, the shit hit the fan. Now he is on the outside looking in, and trying to figure out what hit him.
It wasn't always like this in A-merry-ca. It used to be that if you were a dumbocrat or a rethuglican, you could agree to disagree with each other, and move on with your lives here in the land [where some] are free. But not now. Now you are either for us or against us. If you are with that skinny Negro with the funny name you are the enemy, you do not have A-merry-ca's best interest at heart. If you are with the old man and his aging porn star looking side kick, you are on the side who wants to preserve the status quo here in A-merry-ca, and you truly believe that your Ozzie and Harriett existence is in jeopardy.
Honestly, I kind of like it this way. Fuck bi-partisanship! I don't want to reach across the aisle to do shit. I hope Pelosi, Reid, and Obama do become a triad in Washington. (Like it can get any worse?) I didn't see George Bush, Newt Gingrich or Ronald Reagan doing a whole lot of reaching out. No, they were pretty much carrying out their agenda. An agenda, by the way, which pretty much screwed the poor and middle class in this country. Maybe that's why many of the folks on the red side of this battle are so afraid of his O ness. They don't believe he will reach across to them. They think that his change mantra might really mean change, and that they will be left out in the cold. The irony is, those people I mentioned didn't help these red state folks either. But they were slick enough to wrap their message in a package that they [the red state folks] would buy. Us against them. We are protecting your interest, not theirs . Our values are different from theirs. They want abortion on demand, they want to let the criminals run free, they want a welfare state....you get the picture. And it worked. It always has, and it always will.
That is why this election is so fascinating. How many of these sheep are going to be willing to break away from the shackles of identity politics? How many of them will think about their own pocket books first, and not follow the ideological dogma of their leaders? I am guessing not a whole lot. Fortunately for the folks on the other side, this country is about 45% to 45% when it comes to party registration and hardened political affiliations. And the 10% of the folks in the middle who actually think about both the options presented, will be the ones to decide this election.
"The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper. Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms. The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President."
Poor Dan Cooper belonged to that middle, and now he has cast his lot with the O man. But he is starting to learn what I always knew growing up as a kid on the rock: Politics can be a nasty business.
