Do you Negroes want to be free?

I got an e-mail from Ben Dimiero of Media Matters hipping me to the latest wingnut whining about black people over the airwaves. The latest, some clown named Mark Davis, (Rush's fill in for the day) had a question for his conservative friends:

".. The caller then said that he'd never met one of these America-hating, flag burning liberals Davis and his colleagues keep talking about, and that he's actually seeing a lot of 'Obama Derangement Syndrome' out there, much like there was "Bush Derangement Syndrome" for the last eight years. Davis said the difference between ODS and BDS was not in the "vociferousness," but the "content."

Another break and Davis was back, explaining that 'there were people of all sizes, shapes, stripes, economic levels, and yes, races' at the tea party he hosted in Dallas. Davis added: 'I mean, did they tend to be pretty white? Yeah. Hang on, maybe talk shows of the future will deal not with the question of, you know, 'What is it we're doing that repels black people?' but 'Why aren't black people more attracted by liberty?' "

'Why aren't black people more attracted by liberty?' Seriously?"

Alright Mark, so you want to know why black people, in your mind, aren't "attracted to liberty?"
Let me see if I can answer your question in a tempered, coherent, and mellifluous way for you: (IwillnotcurseIwillnotcurseIwillnotcurseIwillnotcurseIwillnotcurseIwillnotcurseIwillnotcurse)

Actually Mark, black people are attracted to liberty. How could we not be? I mean it took us so long to get it from the likes of you, that I am pretty sure that we appreciate liberty even more than you and your tea bagging friends. It's just that we don't trust you and your ilk to insure that we keep whatever liberties we have. And we sure as hell don't trust or condone the tactics that you and your ilk have used in the past in your pursuit of liberty. But our men have died on battle fields and spilled their blood for you to enjoy your liberties. And many of those "black people" who you seem to have such disdain for have been lynched, beaten, and assassinated, so that you can enjoy your liberty in a country that you are not ashamed of.

But I think I get what you are saying Mark: black people support Obama in large numbers, and in your mind, Obama doesn't support liberty, therefore black people aren't "attracted to liberty." Now Mark, after considering your question, and your twisted logic for even posing it; I have a question for you: Why aren't far right conservatives attracted to education?

Somehow attaching the word liberty to their every thought, makes them think they understand what it is. They never see blacks as living in this country for over three centuries without liberty. There is a victim hood they espouse, in response to anything President Obama had said. They are going to lose their rights. I think the fear is that they will lose their privilege. They want empathy from black folk, when they ask that question.

Is he smoking crack with Rush? Didn't he grow up when black folks were getting clubbed, shot, choked, bit by dog, etc just to be treated equal? I think I'll take the thugs over idiots like him.

That question was just plain nuts, just like Rush's remaining listeners.

Great response, Field. Good luck at Drexel tomorrow. Hopefully you'll get a chance to continue the proud tradition of Iggles fans booing their first round pick on national TV.

I got a question for you. I was looking at the sidebar. Did those two young ladies kill someone? Because a life sentence is an awful harsh sentence for $10. What is up with that?

GrannyStandingforTruth said...

Remember when I told you folks this?

"Pay close attention to all of things that the Rethugs have accused and accuse President Obama of because the Rethug's pattern throughout has always been to accuse others of what they are guilty of."

Well, I followed the link over to media matters to read what they had to say that was related to this topic and here are a couple of things what were said by Davis that demonstrates what I was talking about that I've copied and pasted:

1. "There are two reasons, said Davis: 1) the left are "political bigots" who don't want to govern but rather want to destroy the reputations of those who oppose them."

I know everyone in here should remember how the Republicans pulled this with everyone that disagreed with them when Bush was in office and right to this day this is what Republicans are doing.

2. "What is it we're doing that repels black people?" but "Why aren't black people more attracted by liberty"

Strange since, they were planning to take away not only black folks liberty but every middleclass and poor person's liberty with the Patriot Act, Spying Act, and don't forget the little add-ends that Bush had added which was the first scandal after he left office.

"but when you intend to "criminalize" any "opposition to your narrative,"

Does that sound familar? The GOP criminalized John Kerry, President Obama, Rev Wright, Michelle Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and the list goes on and on.

"Taxation, he said, is different because Obama and his "minions" are being crafty in claiming that they are going to cut taxes for 95 percent of America."

I guess they didn't consider the tax cut they didn't consider the biggest transference of money into the hands of corporations and the rich being crafty, huh? Or the tax cut for the rich?

"Political bigotry is the same as racial bigotry or religious bigotry -- just hating somebody because what they are!"

Well, they don't say, huh? The GOP divided this country into Blue States vs Red States, Republicans vs Democrats, Christians vs Heathens, etc., and they considered themselves the the party of the Uniter.

I hope Ben Dimiero don't mind and won't be upset with Granny for borrowing a few quotes from his article to give an example of what I meant by watch the Rethugs close because it's a pattern with them to accuse others of what they are guilty of. The Rethugs speak with a fork tongue.

Your incoherent post illustrates Field's parting remark about right-wing conservatives' aversion to education.

That said, the cigarette tax is a state, not federal, mandate. (The president presides over decisions federal, not state).

Other than some wingnut site, please provide a link to Obama's reputed support of an Internet tax.

A visit to the White House's website, finds the only tax in question concerns the administration's efforts to provide "new tax and loan incentives" to bring broadband technology in every community in the nation.

See, that's a good thing and a far cry from taxing folks who use the Internet

http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/technology/

Regarding your comment about the cap and trade tax concerning environmental regulations, it seems that the Republicans, as usual, has twisted this issue into something it isn't.

http://www.progressillinois.com/2009/4/14/shimkus-false-cap-trade-claim

And Rush Limbaugh?

Please.

If no one mentions this (alleged) child molesting, obese drug addict's name is not out of fear. It's because he's a clown who isn't worth any thinking person's time.

The only people whose hearts are a-flutter over this moron are dittoheads like you.

"If no one mentions this (alleged) child molesting,"

You must mean Obama's half brutha.Theres a nice family pic of the Obama's with the little girl Samson molested.

There's been a bill that has been written that will introduced or has been introduced that will eliminate a loophole thats allows Americans to shop online without paying a sales tax.

When it passes do you really think Obama will veto it??

Sharon from WI said...

Okay, I stand corrected. Cigarettes aren't good for anyone anyway.

But in any case, when Obama indicated that he was not going to raise taxes on people making less than $250,000 a year, he was referring to income tax.

And for taxes in general, how do you think this (or any other) administration is going to pay for improvements in infrastructure repairs and maintenance, information technology, health care, etc?

I'm more than willing to pay my share for public goods and services like this than to have the burden of having to compensate for policies in which the wealthiest 3 percent of the population gets a tax cut.

With regard to O's "brutha" as you call it, how is the President responsible for the actions of a sibling or other relative?

And while the allegations about Rush's favorite vacation spots have yet to be proven, you must concede that his drug use and his hippocracy regarding those who are addicted to drugs (he advocated harsh penalties for them) is stunning.

Since this is a post about black people and liberty i wonder how people on this blog feel about the Obama administration wanting to overturn Michigan v. Jackson?

Michigan v Jackson did not establish this.... Michigan v Jackson states that a defendant cannot waive attorney protection once it has been invoked and talk to the police.... The US Attorney's amicus brief is arguing that under the 5th Amendment and 6th, that defendant's rights are sufficiently protected..... and therefore Jackson need not be..... It is a technical argument with which I disagree... And, I suspect, most defense and civil rights attorneys will as well... but it in no way can be suggested that the US is attempting to deny defendants access to attorneys or protection from being interrogated once a request for an attorney has been invoked.

"Rush Limbaugh claims the 'Democrat Party has destroyed the black family'Can someone explain to me what exactly is "the black family"?

The black conservatives who buy into this belief must experience cognitive dissonance-- on the one hand, you leaders espouse that Democrats have destroyed the black family, but on the other hand you have a black family that is intact.

Why is it Republican/conservatives speak about black folks in general and stereotypical terms, but are quick to say, "judge me as an individual"?

Why is it I never hear similar terms such as "the brown/hispanic family," or "the yellow/Asian family," or "the white family" in Republicans/conservative vocabulary?

Aren't these the same people that wants to get rid of the so-called "hyphenated American crap"?

For my part, any "conservative" who does not explicitly denounce the Southern Strategy and its dog-whistled white supremacy is, by definition, an enemy combatant, and presumed to hold animus against non-white people.

But Field, none here can honestly believe we have taken full advantage of the liberty we now have. Our families are broken. 72% of fathers abandon their children and 72% of our sisters spread their legs for fools. More than half of our children turn their back on education and drop out of school and our mothers stand by and let it happen. Say what you will about the justice system but our young men choose criminality at an alarming rate. Our young men kill each other at a rate never before seen in the history of mankind! We strive for quick riches at any cost and shy away from sacrifice and hard work.
CERTAINLY there are good decent hard working brothers and sisters out there doing the right thing but not nearly at the rate we need to "overcome". Our society glamorizes physicality and demonizes education as "acting white".
Were at the bottom of every category of social fitness and we dont seem to be turning it around. How can we possibly hope to rise when no kid has the advantage of a good father in the home. Mentoring is nice but it doesnt come close to filling the "father" hole. It just doesnt. Too few hold parents to task for their out of control and failing kids. We blame society, whitey, the media, everybody but ourselves. Its too easy to point the finger at others. "Racism chasers" like yourself do our people no good at all. Instead of showing our kids the barriers, try showing them the clear roads.

Anon 11:55 AM,

You have to be seriously misled. Are African descendants in America the only group who is not entitled to remember their history in these divided states? It seems that every other group has that right or priviledge except for us. And folks like you do "us" a disservice by spouting off this nonsense under the guise of asking us to "move on."

When the United States of America apologizes for slavery and provides fair compensation to its victims and their descendants by some substantial transfer of assets as remuneration for 250 years of slaver labor, and another 100 more in forms of bondage, then we'll move on.

The Japanese who were interned in WWII were compensated. The "Native" American people were compensated for the slaughter they received at the hands of the U.S.... African descendants? We were rewarded with peonage, convict lease system, Jim Crow, poll taxes, literacy tests at the polls. Seriously, we'll forget it when America pull its proverbial head out of the ground.

But really, what is it these people mean by "liberty," exactly, that they feel only the Repubs offer it and Obama wants to take it away. The most recent comparison has been between US and Sweden, and absent the ability to enjoy ridiculous riches, I'd prefer to live in Sweden.

2 - Fly, not asking you to defend anything, just curious, trying to gain understand - On what basis do you consider yourself politically conservative? Just asking. Don't take anything, for lack of better words, personal. I'm not attacking you. I'm just curious.
