"A New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments normally go into effect on New Year's Day and remain until fulfilled. More socio-centric examples include resolutions to donate to the poor more often, to become more assertive, or to become more economically or environmentally responsible."

Since it's New Year's Day I suppose the field should make a Resolution to do something for the better, or to make some sort of positive change in his life.

I was thinking I would try to be nicer to people I disagree with, and to show more commitment and loyalty to my adopted country, A-merry-ca. And while I am at it, I was thinking I might make a commitment to give powerful people like politicians the benefit of the doubt, and to stop being so damn cynical all the time........I know I know, that was all bullshit. I was just wondering how I would feel if I wrote that, and as I suspected, it didn't feel right.

So the hell with it; my New Year's Resolution is to continue calling it as I see it and to tell the truth no matter who I offend.

Now that felt a whole lot better.

Yeah, you're doing fine where you are, FN. Keep rolling.

My New Year's Resolution...is NOT to make any resolutions, cause they're generally toast by January 2nd, LOL.

Keep on putting it down in the Fields, Field.

I haven't made any resolutions since a classroom assignment in the 8th grade. I can barely remember what's on my Outlook nowadays, let alone some life changing resolutions.

Twas the night before Iowa and all through the state, Obama's supporters are preparing to kick the Ice Queen to the curb.

Barack, my friends, is ahead by 7 points.

I suppose, if I were to make a resolution, it would be to try and be nicer to Hillary's Harpies. They know not what a bitch-shrew Mrs. Clinton really is and that she's a closet neocon.

Happy New Year Field, my resolution is to ask for help when I need it and, not wait until things get out of hand. That is a hard one for me.

Happy New Year Field! I have no resolutions because I never keep them. I have lessons learned. Anyway, keep up the good work. We need your brand of honesty in this crazy world.

Happy New Year! Please continue to do what you do in '08. I have thoroughly enjoyed the blog thus far... My only resolution is to enjoy life one day at a time and live it to the fullest by being my best everyday.

BTW- JB, a house negro? Say it ain't so! I think he's a field in disguise. Lol

If you were to stop calling things like you saw them, your blog wouldn't be the same. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about that changing anytime soon.

Btw, good call on keeping the Tyra Banks photo on your sidebar. Since Tyra still has her talk show, that makes her somewhat newsworthy. You can use that as an excuse for keeping her there.

Keep doing what you do on this blog. Don't change a thing brother.

Did we expect anything else from the gramatically-challenged Mr. Negro?

Thanks malcolm, after great consideration, I have decided to keep Tyra little longer.

dark and stormy, sometimes it's just a gut instinct I have about these things :)

woozie,I will try and respect the grammar gods in 08 :)

LOL, field!

I've had the hardest time finding the mental energy to draft a resolution or two. After reading your post, my resolution is TO-HECK-WITH-IT. Thanks for the excuse to dump the ritual. hehe

Seriously, NYR's tend to reflect some kind of resentment about the prevous year. All that "looking backwards" gets hidden behind a bogus mask of "forward thinking."

A desire to not repeat a bad year is not the same as finding and nurturing a solid vision. And that's an activity that shouldn't be reserved for Jan. 1st.

Keep writing. And I'm sure to keep reading.
