One officer kills a comrade, and another kills our progress.

*
"FN, this was nice. Now tell this to the *wife of Officer Omar J. Edwards, 25, a black officer was shot died by a white officer in NYC.Do you think she wants to "Sit down and have an honest, open conversation...guarantee equal rights, opportunity, and justice for all of our citizens". How do you think she will raise her children to "educate and teach them while they are young." ~DuchessDee~

I feel DuchessDee's frustration, who among us doesn't? Officer Omar Edward should be alive today, and if it wasn't for the color of his skin, he probably would be. It's frustrating, it's sad, and tomorrow it will happen again. The person might not die, but somewhere in A-murder-ca injustice will be done.

As sad and angry as this story makes me, it doesn't make me as angry as how I felt about that incident in yet another state that I wish would seriously consider secession from these divided states, Oklahoma. What that state trooper did to EMS driver, Maurice White, Jr (That's what you get for leaving Earth Wind & Fire) was beyond inexcusable. It smacked of racism and ignorance. And I can just imagine how many times this storm.., whoops, I mean state trooper had pulled this little stunt in the past. But White was lucky, he lived to star in a movie about it. Edwards was not.

Had Edwards not been shot and worse, lost his life; what he [the state trooper] did would have probably been worse than what Andrew Dunton, the man who shot Omar Edwards, did. Dunton made his decision in a split second. (This state trooper had ample time to think about his ignorance and how he was acting) In the split second that it takes to make a life and death decision, he made the wrong one thanks to a life time of false perceptions and stereotypes. Oh you will read about what a good neighbor he was, and how he loved his community blah blah blah. I am sure he did, but I am guessing that his community didn't exactly look like Omar Edward's community if you get my drift. Dunton pulled the trigger that killed Edwards because he probably didn't know any other people like him [Edwards] other than the ones who wore the uniform of his employer. People like Omar Edwards, to him, were all on the wrong side of the law. It's a shame, because, as we have tried to say on this blog countless times, all it would take is a willingness to be open and an effort to see other people as just people. So when he jumped out of that unmarked police car in East Harlem, there was no doubt in his mind that he was taking action against a law breaker who was preying on an innocent citizen. But tragically, he was wrong.

Edwards wasn't wearing a NYPD uniform, he was wearing his human one, and it cost him his life.

The first ever group post: (I think)

This is a great time to be a racism chaser in A-merry-ca because racism still exist and because Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich make such big, fat targets. Racism is still alive and well, despite the best efforts of so many to challenge, educate, and legislate to end it. We will stop chasing when justice for all applies to all equally. We are now seeing the depths and breaths of this "post-racial" society in a series of racial back-lashes.
But are the cases of alleged racism that we have been seeing a result of real racism or just frustration caused by the leader of the country outshining any leader before him. Or by a lack of REAL dialogue about the subject, such as that suggested earlier in the year by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Or is it caused by the realization that the status quo is fairy tale. It's more than meets the eye and plenty of folks are starting to become aware of it.

It's sad, because as a country we have the resources and diversity of cultures to actually be an official UN headquarters. As a country we are one nation of people that should be able to get along, enjoy the same equal rights as any other citizen regardless of race, and be able to have the right to the pursuit of happiness and the American dream. Thinking that our neighbor is different, we often do terrible things. We beat, oppress, condemn, jail, spy on, or steal from them. Would we do these things to our friends or family? I doubt it.
But all is not lost, if we learn to stand together in unity, respect one another as fellow human beings, learn to live in peace with one another, and see each other as equal human beings. Out of the limelight of the media and the cameras and newspaper reporters, there are fierce, wonderful, intelligent people working in their own communities to challenge the status quo, to bridge the divides that have been created, who dream a dream of justice at night and then in their waking hours work with passion to make justice a reality for all peoples. For all the dismal problems and tragedies, we are still surrounded by the signs of progress, and, on the part of most people, a willingness to pursue harmony and reconciliation.

This is how we can solve some of our problems: Sit down and have an honest, open conversation and lay all of our grievances out on the table. Then work together on trying to solve them as one people. Make decisions together that will guarantee equal rights, opportunity, and justice for all of our citizens and not just one that is deceptive, lopsided, one-sided, a pacifier, or bandage, but that is real and will make all parties involved satisfied and happy. Let's get the Blacks, White, Hispanics, Asians, Educated, Uneducated, Wealthy, Poor, Gay, Straight, etc., all together for a National Cultural Understanding Dialogue Day.Get it all off your chest (in a civil manner of course). All the crap which stems from Ignorance and lack of Cultural understanding, get that crap all off your chest! Then shake hands, sit down, enjoy some Fried or Baked Chicken, corn bread, lemonade and have a few laughs. Eradicate the foolishness and ignorance that has been floating around for years and get to work. The tools are there...use 'em! Showing the world we're not a Nation of cowards by opening up a serious dialogue on race & living the golden rule.

Finally,we need to learn and respect each other’s ethnic cultures, embrace one another, and redo history books to reflect our American society as a whole adding the contributions of all races to the building of America. In addition, we should eliminate the stereotypes, and educate our children and teach them while they are young racial tolerance. If we can do away with the institutionalized racism that is so ingrained and pervasive in this country, afford equal protection and opportunity under the law, we may no longer need racism chasers. We'll be in a "postracial" era when there are no more racists telling us they're not racists because we're in a postracial era.

Okay field Negroes and honorable field Negroes, that was awesome! You all have some skills.
Thanks for writing this post for me. Your checks are in the mail.

Your post.

I don't think what I am going to do has ever been tried before. If it was, I would like to apologize now to the blogger who did it before me.

Anyway, I am going to write the outline of a post, and ask you smart field Negroes and honorary field Negroes to put the body in it for me with your insightful comments.

I will fill in my outline with the best comments and then my lazy ass will use it for an entire post later on this weekend.

Oh, and I am going to need a title as well.

Here goes:

Does she really care? And should we care if she does?

I love my girl Carmen Dixon over at AOL Black Voices, and I have lifted a couple of her posts lately for discussion here.

So here comes another one. It involves my man Russell Simmons and his latest par amour, who just happens to be white. Seems she said a few thinks that pissed off Carmen and she [Carmen] put girlfriend on blast.

This is what Ms. Blanca Def Jam said:

"I have been spending "special time" with Russell for about 4 months and in that time I have learned some subtle things about some in the black community that have surprised me.I must say that while it has been a bit of a challenge for me, it has also been a wonderful learning experience. I realize that in this day of Obama and change that there is still a tremendous amount of poverty, suffering and pain in the black community, and for that I am deeply sorry. Source: Young Black and Fabulous [Carmen writes]Who is she apologizing to? And for what? She continues."

"But, I have to say the angry responses to those realities are sometimes misdirected....Just for the record, I am nobody's white b*tch, gold digger or fame chaser. Nor am I any of the other mean things I have been called lately. I don't need anything from anybody, I come from a good family and I'm a young independent "successful" model making my way in NYC. (If you don't believe me google me or go to juliehenderson.net). Finally, I just wanna say that Russell has been a great "special" friend and I'm sure as sh*t not giving him up cause some in America object to our friendship. I wanna close by saying, what Russell always says, Namaste. (That means the goddess in me recognizes the goddess in you)....Or, b*tch get your own man." Source: Global Grind

[Carmen Again]Pobre [sic] Julie. Thank you for offering such a carefully worded and articulate expression of the hardship you are enduring. I am oh so sorry that there are mean people. Despite your confessed unfamiliarity with black issues, you must be a very quick study to now (after 4 months) be able to accurately distinguish random "misdirected" black anger from a personal beef that some particular females may have with you specifically. By the way, what exactly is a "good" family? Just asking."

This article is relevant because we just had a discussion about this after my previous post. I am talking about the relationship dynamic between men of color and their women, and the role that women from the majority population play in it. The article brings us a woman from the majority population trying (or so she says) to understand us black folks and "learn" about us. So what's wrong with that? If that white woman from Bucks County knew about us do you think she would have accused two of us of jacking her? Hey, come on folks, don't we want more white women like Julie Henderson? Isn't this one less white woman who is going to cry wolf because she is "learning" about us?

I am just thinking out loud people......don't ask me for my opinion just yet.....well, before I go, just one question for Julie: Just what kind of "poverty" did you see in the black community hanging with Russell? I am just saying.

Next time blame the Mexican guy. You might have more luck.

I hate to say I told you all so but...well ya, I told you so. When this story broke I smelled a rat from the jump. First, the refrain was all too familiar: bad black man or men do harm to innocent white woman and child. Call the National Guards! Stop the presses! Alert the national media! We have hot one here! Nothing, and I do mean nothing, will get A-merry-ca's attention like a missing white woman or child. And in the past, nothing would have made the story more believable than blaming the black man for some nefarious act connected to their disappearance. That is, until, we had the likes of Susan Smith, Ashley Todd, and Bob Allen. (Well, he wasn't a white woman, but he learned well)

Of course those of us black folks here in Philly knew that this couldn't be true. First, it happened out in a WSZ, in the middle of the day, on a busy street. Second, the way it supposedly went down--- black men bump white woman and her child in her car, and when she gets out to investigate they go all "Taken" on her and throw her in the trunk of their car--- (Did I mention that it was described as a dark colored Cadillac? Of course, what else is a Negro going to drive?) And then, of course, comes the kicker: no one saw it. Not one witness! If some shit like that had really gone down those Negroes would not have made it to the next light. Finally, and this is going to hurt some of you Negroes, but you know it's true. What black man (especially around here) is going to kidnap a child? These Negroes want nothing to do with their own damn kids; and they are going to kidnap a white one? There is not enough money in the world that would cause a Negro from around these parts to do that shit.

But we knew it was a lie didn't we field Negroes? Which is why I am so surprised that this shit made the national news and blew up as fast as it did. All the major morning shows were all over it this morning. "And in Philadelphia, two black men allegedly abducted a blond haired blue eyed woman and her child on a busy suburban street. They then threw her into the trunk of their car and sped off. The woman supposedly made 911 calls from her cell phone." And all across A-merry-ca white folks who din't know better were putting their coffee down to say a prayer for the poor woman and her child. The ones that didn't know better. The ones who did were saying oh ohh, when are they going to learn that the black man did it alibi isn't going to work anymore? Hell we have been using that since the 1800's, but at some point it's time to let it go.

My question to some of these news agencies would be where are the black people on your pay roll? They should have told you all to hold off on this story just a little longer. I don't care how many Amber Alerts went off. Just wait.

Oh well, all is well that ends well. Apparently our modern day version of Susan Smith was spotted at Philly International Airport, and the latest is that girlfriend just might be at Disney World with the little crumb snatcher.

It sure seems like a lot to go through just to take your daughter to Disney World. I bet "Goofy" is her favorite character.

Laws, and the people who will make them.

You gotta love those folks in Alabama. Seems that the people of that great state have voted to allow businesses within the state's borders to pay Negroes half of what they pay each of their white workers. I guess it makes sense. They reason that it will be good for the business climate because in trying to attract corporations to Alabama, they realize that if you can pay the Negro worker (who usually are less educated and really live in poorer areas, so they don't need the money) less it will allow companies to save on their overhead. Some of the taxes that they collect from these companies will be used to fund Negro colleges in Alabama.

And most of the Christian folks in Alabama voted for this new law because they are good bible reading god fearing folks. Didn't Genesis 9:25-27 say the following? "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers. He also said, 'Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japeth live in the tents of Shem and may Canaan be his slave'." See, it's ordained from god. It's the "curse of Ham". The good people of Alabama know their bible. They understand Colossions 3:18 and 4:1. They understand Peter 2:13 and 3:7. They understand the "doctrine of the orders of creation". They understand the biblical theory of an "elect nation". Thank goodness they voted the right way. Now Negro schools will be able to get much needed funding.

Field that is outrageous! You are lying, that did not happen. Well no, not in Alabama, but it happened in California, today. Yes my friends, unless you live on another planet, you have heard by now that the Supremes out there voted to uphold Proposition 8. That little biblical driven ballad initiative that makes it illegal for two consenting adults to get married to each other, because the good book says that marriage is between a man and a woman. So what's the difference between what happened in California and the little hypothetical situation I gave you? Let me answer that for you: Absolutely nothing!

Now to some other news today: Congrats on your pick O man. Looks like it's Sonia "from the block". Let's see now: Ivy League creds? Check. Judicial experience? Check. Great personal story? Check. The right hue and gender? Check. No controversial decisions? Check. Well I will be damn, looks like we have a winner on our hands. Big up boricua! On it's face it seems like a very nice pick. Conservative wingnuts will be foaming at the mouth (Aren't they always?). In fact, the drug addict already started. The theme for this battle will be "reverse racist".--- Over the next few weeks you will be hearing a lot about Ricci and Stefano. And no, it's not a fancy Italian restaurant--- Keep that in mind wingnuts. Now run off and get your talking points. This should be fun. Just remember who the people in the fastest growing group in these divided states look like.

Colin v. Dick and Tom v. Rush and Rush v. Colin and Colin v. Rush and......

I can't tell you how much I have been enjoying this in-party fighting between the repubs for the soul (And I use that word loosely. Republicans have no souls) of their party. In one corner is the two tons of evil, also known as Rush & Dick. And in the other corner, the voices of moderation and reason, also known as Colin & Tom. (On this Memorial Day it's important to note that both Tom and Colin served their country honorably in war and Dick and Rush did not. Just thought I would throw that out there) Dick started it all when he lashed out at Colin and declared that he didn't even think that he[Colin] was a republican anymore. Then Tom said that Dick was in essence lying when he said that the country is less safe under Obama. And then Rush agreed with Dick, and Tom agreed with Colin and.....oh lawd this is all too much, but you get the idea.

“Rush will not get his wish and Mr. Cheney was misinformed – I am still a Republican..,”“Neither [Cheney] nor Rush Limbaugh are members of the membership committee of the Republican Party...”

Yu tell dem yawdie! That's what I like to see; that good old Jamaican fighting spirit coming out of you. You must be drinking plenty Irish Moss and Linseed these days. But wait, Tom Ridge wants to jump in here as well:

“I think Rush articulates his point of view in ways that offend very many...”

That's what I am talking about; two military guys fighting for their party on Memorial Day. Way to go boys. I am pretty sure that most A-merry-cans have your back. Most. Unfortunately there are still some among us who would put party over country. We call them "wingnuts", and there are plenty of them.

Now as a person of color I always listen for the African American voices in these debates. So where are the conservative or republican, African Americans? Why so silent on this issue? Whose side are you folks going to come down on? Inquiring minds want to know. I know that a few of you like to come out to the fields from time to time, so can you tell us please? We are trying to understand the debate and I am sure that you all will be able to help us out a little.

"I don't want to pick a fight with Dick Cheney, but the fact is, the Republican party has to be a broad party that appeals across the country..."

Fight Colin fight. The field Negroes have your back. Even if the Negroes in your own party do not.

What's so "amazing" about a bigot and a sexist?

Last night the Lakers beat Denver in what was yet another fine NBA playoff game. The NBA's theme for this year's playoffs is "where amazing happens" ---or something like that---but I want to know what is amazing about a bigoted sexist owner who treats people like shit. Donald Sterling is an owner in the NBA, and the NBA and all its enablers ought to be ashamed of themselves for allowing this creep to still own an NBA franchise. I know I ripped Elgin Baylor earlier for suing Sterling after being his house boy for so long, but reading Peter Keating's article was too much, and it sheds a totally different light on old Donald. Hey, maybe Elgin knew something that the rest of us didn't know all along. (Although his ass still should have spoken up sooner.) And now, thanks to ESPN the Magazine, we all know, and so it's time for Sterling to go.

The NBA fines one owner, Mark Cuban, thousands of dollars for complaining about the referees, yet they allow another owner to discriminate against minorities and sexually abuse females? That is a fucking disgrace!

Anyway, let's play a little game: its called spot the house Negroes and honorary house Negroes in the article. I am going to give you the first few paragraphs of the article and then the link to it. Please go through it and give me the number of these clowns you spot. For the record, I spotted at least seven. I swear these current and former mental slaves in the NBA make me sick to my stomach.

"It was 2002, and Donald Sterling was talking to Sumner Davenport, one of his four top property supervisors, about a tenant at the Ardmore Apartments. Already the largest landowner in Beverly Hills, Sterling had recently acquired the Ardmore as part of his move to extend his real estate empire eastward toward Koreatown and downtown LA. As he did, Sterling "wanted tenants that fit his image," according to testimony Davenport gave in a discrimination lawsuit brought against Sterling in 2003 by 19 tenants and the nonprofit Housing Rights Center. (That case ended in a confidential settlement in 2005; attorneys for the Center declined to comment for this story. In a separate suit, also concluded in 2005, Davenport claimed Sterling sexually harassed her, and lost. She declined comment. The Magazine has obtained depositions in both cases.) Cultivating his image, Davenport said, meant no blacks, no Mexican-Americans, no children (whom Sterling called "brats") and no government-housing-subsidy recipients as tenants. So according to the testimony of tenants, Sterling employees made life difficult for residents in some of his new buildings. They refused rent checks, then accused renters of nonpayment. They refused to do repairs for black tenants and harassed them with surprise inspections, threatening residents with eviction for alleged violations of building rules.

When Sterling first bought the Ardmore, he remarked on its odor to Davenport. "That's because of all the blacks in this building, they smell, they're not clean," he said, according to Davenport's testimony. "And it's because of all of the Mexicans that just sit around and smoke and drink all day." He added: "So we have to get them out of here." Shortly after, construction work caused a serious leak at the complex. When Davenport surveyed the damage, she found an elderly woman, Kandynce Jones, wading through several inches of water in Apartment 121. Jones was paralyzed on the right side and legally blind. She took medication for high blood pressure and to thin a clot in her leg. Still, she was remarkably cheerful, showing Davenport pictures of her children, even as some of her belongings floated around her. Jones had repeatedly walked to the apartment manager's office to plead for assistance, according to sworn testimony given by her daughter Ebony Jones in the Housing Rights Center case. Kandynce Jones' refrigerator dripped, her dishwasher was broken, and her apartment was always cold. Now it had flooded. Davenport reported what she saw to Sterling, and according to her testimony, he asked: "Is she one of those black people that stink?" When Davenport told Sterling that Jones wanted to be reimbursed for the water damage and compensated for her ruined property, he replied: "I am not going to do that. Just evict the bitch." Repairs never came. The shower stopped working, and the toilet wouldn't flush; Jones needed to use a plunger and disposed of waste tissue in bags.
Kandynce Jones departed the home she loved but that caused her so much grief when she passed away, on July 21, 2003, at age 67.

Two years later, Sterling resolved the Housing Rights Center case with a payout. The details of the agreement are confidential, but U.S. District Court judge Dale Fischer called the settlement "one of the largest ever obtained in this type of case." Plaintiffs were awarded $4.9 million in legal fees alone. In August 2006, the Justice Department hit Sterling with the federal housing discrimination charges he faces today. They portray a pattern of behavior far in spirit from the starlit world of Spago and Staples that Donald Sterling revels in publicly."

"Just evict the bitch"? What a sweetheart. It just goes to show you that if you have money and power in A-murder-ca you can be anything you want; even a bigoted jerk.

Read the rest of the article here.

Finished? Good. Now tell me how many you spotted.

Some thoughts and questions.

This weekend I am heading down to Ocean City, Maryland to spend some time in a bad investment that Mrs. Field and I got into. I will have my trusted lap top with me so my blogging won't suffer.

Anywho, just for this post, I have some questions and some thoughts. Hey, it's Friday, I always get reflective on a Friday.

Like, for instance, why can't Charles Barkley take a broadcasting class or get a speech coach?

Does the fact that I like to watch Telemundo and speak very little Spanish mean that I am a misogynistic jerk?

If I were a white guy, would I recognize white privilege?

Does Dick Cheney ever get his freak on with Lynne? And do I need to seek help for even thinking such thoughts?

This is an old one, but true: Isn't it ironic that we drive on a Parkway, and park in a Driveway? I am just saying.

Why do black people spend so much money on bullshit? (Like shit for their cars, for instance)

Why do white people spend so much money on their pets?

Why is Texas even still here? (Oh, and governor good hair, you are welcome for that little stimulus money we gave you to fix up your crib.)

Why haven't we learned who killed Biggy and Tupac?

Am I the only one who thinks that Third World is the greatest band ever?

How long does Nancy Pelosi take to put on her makeup?

And speaking of learning to talk: Hey Roland, you might want to look up the speech coach Charles ends up getting.

There really ought to be a law against short sleeve dress shirts.

What the hell did we do before cell phones?

I don't ever want to see another pregnant woman standing at a bus stop by herself.

Speaking of buses; "Get On The Bus" by Spike Lee is a very underrated movie.

Is it just me, or do you all get the same feeling that [some] republicans are just praying that we get attacked before the reign of O is over?

Will we ever know how good Obama's b-ball game is? (Who wants to really body check the president of these divided states?)

Whatever happened to Stedman Graham? And why didn't that dumb Negro marry Oprah?

I miss being a troll, talking shit, and picking e-fights on wingnut blogs.

Why is Angela McGlowan afraid to take up my challenge?

I know she is 52, but Debbie Morgan could still cure my Lark, jones.

Why don't you A-merry-cans like soccer? I can't wait to get my season tickets to the new Philadelphia MSL team.

Am I the only one who thinks that Jamie Foxx had some good points about Miley Cyrus?

Whatever happened to Keith Washington?

And finally, why does it seem like it takes forever to drive across a little ass state like Delaware?

I am out.

The Jailhouse Jihadists.

I am so mad at these dumb ass Negroes I don't know what to do. Now they done went and made it cool for the "man" to profile us again. When those Saudis who could fly but couldn't land planes, took them into the twin towers, it's the Arabs and Middle Eastern looking chaps who were under the gun. Now, thanks to these Keystone terrorist, the field is going to have to live with even more profiling.

Apparently these clowns didn't even have Osama bin Laden's blessing. Just a bunch of free lancers trying to mount their own version of jihad. Let's just go ahead and call them jail house jihadists because that's where they met; not on the battle fields of Afghanistan. They were just a bunch of guys from the Bronx who wanted to represent for the cause. Oh field, stop it, what if it's all a set up by "the man"? Yeah, right. The only thing that set them up to fail was their own stupidity. The feds had these clowns pegged all along, and they had an informer working from the inside and telling them exactly what the Keystone terrorist were doing every step of the way.

The explosives that they sold them; they were fake. (Thank goodness, because I bet those clowns would have blown up half of New York before they got to their intended targets.) Those Stingers that they tried to get to shoot down the military planes; they were fake as well. The "man" was all over this plot from the jump. (I guess the O man's administration isn't so soft on terror after all. Take that Dick Cheney) Memo to Keystone terrorist: You don't plan a take down of imperialist interests with folks from around the way. Because what do you think will hapen? I will tel you what: chances are that one of them just might be an informer. This shit ain't like buying some hot guns off the street and robbing Mr. Wong's Deli. You are playing in the big leagues when you try this shit. Just ask these guys. They got life for just acting like they were going to be like the 911 hijackers.

"This is a plot that would have involved martyrdom, explosives and certain of the tubes that connect New Jersey with Lower Manhattan," [FBI Assistant Director for New York] Mershon said. He called the threat "the real deal." '

The type of "threat" might have been the "real deal", but the men carrying it out certainly weren't.

Do the field Negroes get to pick the race experts?

I know that the day before I appear on Dr. Eric Dyson's radio program I shouldn't be ripping a supposed "black race expert" on my blog. Others have been ripping our race experts, but I won't go there. Still, I don't know about my man Tavis. I got an e-mail from a very popular "Buppie" promoter here in town who has a very strong mailing list. The e-mail was all about this new documentary that Tavis is promoting and they want folks to attend the screening and have an open dialogue about it.

Now, I don't want to rip Tavis, that would be too easy. I really want to believe that his head and his heart is in the right place. I mean, let's face it, if many of us had Tavis's influence, wouldn't we be doing the same thing? Isn't it too easy to say on the sidelines and call Tavis a self promoting race hustler rather than get involved ourselves? That's what a part of me is saying. But then the other part is saying that Tavis is a self promoting race hustler. And I know that many of us are getting involved and trying to make a difference, we just don't shine the light as bright on ourselves while we do it. ---Is there a brighter light than the one Tavis has?-- I am just saying.

Hey, tell you what, you people who love TS, please tell the field why I should love him right along with you. Because I truly believe, that like Dr. Tyson and others, he is a designated race expert in A-murder-ca, and I always want to know what the experts are saying about race. I don't want anymore groups like the "Anti Cooning Tribunal" popping up all over the place, we need to all get on the same page, people.

But I digress, this is what the e-mail promotion said:

"Sulaiman Rahman. “STAND” Film Screening at the African American Museum
A DOCUMENTARY CHRONICLING THE EXTRAORDINARY ROAD TRIP OF TAVIS SMILEY AND 10 FRIENDS EXPLORING THE BLACK MALE EXPERIENCE.
STAND, a compelling documentary chronicling an extraordinary road trip taken by broadcaster Tavis Smiley and remarkable black male friends at a key moment in our nation's history. America was commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., against the backdrop of then-Senator Barack Obama emerging as the first African American to become the Democratic presidential nominee. As America approached the historic 2008 presidential election, the national dialogue and debate intensified about race relations, politics and legacy of the civil rights movement.

"There are times in the film when we debate, cry, laugh, hug and even hold hands and pray together. It's a genuine reflection of Black men and brotherhood which we rarely, if ever see in the media. When people see the film, they really respond to that," said Smiley.

Dr. Cornell West and Dr. Eddie Glaude will host a post-movie discussion. When: Thursday, May 21st, 2009 Time: 6pm - 9pm (Film starts at 6:45pm)Location: African American Museum, 7th and Arch Streets, Philadelphia PA"

Tavis and his friends in an "extraordinary documentary". Gee, there is a surprise.

What if nothing "happens in Vegas"?

'"I am disappointed at the hypocrisy shown by this Administration,".... "President Obama is coming to Las Vegas later this month for a political fundraiser, but he will not help the struggling families in Las Vegas and Nevada who are out of work because of his reckless comments." Governor Gibbons noted, "President Obama is coming to Las Vegas to raise campaign cash for Senator Harry Reid, apparently our money is good enough for the President, but our tourism, jobs, and economic future are not."...... "This is politics, pure and simple, President Obama stood for change, but all he has done is brought negative economic change to Nevada."'

That Obama is such a party pooper. O man, why did you have to go and diss the good people of Vegas? Didn't you know that they have families to feed like the rest of us? Apparently when you said this: "You can't get corporate jets. You can't go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer's dime" in the most non Las Vegas of places, Elkhart, Indiana, you touched a nerve. And it seems that you caused over 400 organization to cancel their conventions and their trips to Sin City. Which, by the way, cost the good folks of Nevada over a hundred million dollars in revenue. (Or so they say) Now O man, if that's true, that is some serious cash.

How does it feel to have such power O man? No wonder the repubs are terrified of you. So all it took was a few words from you and over 400 groups canceled their planned conventions? Imagine that. And to think I thought it was the bad economy and tough times that we are facing which caused them to cancel. Nope, it was you and your O-mnipotent power.

Poor Tim Gibbons he is so mad at his O ness that he doesn't know what to do. He wants a meeting and the chosen one won't even give it to him. Even Oscar Goodman, (you gotta love a mayor named Oscar) the good Mayor of "Sin City" was getting into the mix, and was giving his O ness an earful about dissing his city.

But I will give it to his O ness, he sure knows how to pick his enemies. I am guessing that there aren't many people in the rest of the country who are crying a tear for the folks in Vegas right about now. I know that there are lots of girlfriends and wives saying serve them right. "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? Well what if nothing happens in Vegas, how do you like them apples?"

Ahhh "The City of Lights". Hey, isn't that where they shot Tupac?

"Onward Christian Soldiers"

"Their arrows are sharp, all their bows are strung; their horses' hoofs seem like flint, their chariot wheels are like a whirlwind." ~Isaiah 5:28~

I guess, in a way, this all makes sense. I mean those Muslims were fighting a holy war, why shouldn't we?

Seems our former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, was putting "gospel talk" in his memo briefings on the war to his commander "the thief", W. What better way to get the frat boy's attention than to put a little religion into the mix? No wonder it took the frat boy so long to get rid of him. The guy knew how to stoke his boss. Just let him think this war was ordained by god and it's all good. So you kill a few thousand people, what's the big deal? it was all god's will. I guess those Muslims who blew up those tall buildings in New York felt the same way. What's 3,000 or so infidels in the big scheme of things? It was allah's will.

"The cover of an April 10, 2003 Pentagon memo prepared for the president showed the statue of Saddam Hussein being toppled and scenes of grateful Iraqis. Below the images were the words: 'Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him ... To deliver their souls from death.'...The cover of another memo featured the words, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' above a soldier who appeared to be bowing in prayer. Below, were the words, 'Here I am Lord, send me!' Isaiah 6:8."

Wow! These people are truly crazy. Thing is, I don't even think Rumsfeld is particularly religious, (I think he belongs to the 4th Presbyterian Church USA, look it up) which just goes to show you what a snake and slime ball the guy was. That's not me,field, saying that, that's his former colleagues putting him out there. And the hits just keep coming. How much more will we learn about this bunch before it's all said and done?

I guess this Pelosi dust up couldn't come at a better time for the repubs. But we can count on the main stream media to keep Lady Nancy on the front page and this little gem of a story buried way in the back.

Oh, that's right, we can't inflame the Muslim world; they might actually start thinking that their religion is better than ours.

Another White House snub.

I am not impressed with celebrity. I have had the opportunity to meet some pretty famous people in my life and I have spurned the opportunity to meet others. Nothing against them, their fame is not their fault. It's just that it's not in my DNA to get hyped over certain things, fame being one of them.

But then, I am not in a profession where one of the rewards for my success is meeting the president of these divided states. If it was, and I did reach that pinnacle, I doubt seriously if I would turn it down. I mean there are famous people and there are FAMOUS PEOPLE. The president of these divided states qualities as a famous person with capital letters.

Which brings me to James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers. This ignoramus refuses to meet with the president of these divided states with the rest of his Steelers for the lamest of all
reasons:

"This is how I feel -- if you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don't win the Super Bowl. As far as I'm concerned, he [Obama] would've invited Arizona if they had won."

James, with all due respect, you are a fucking idiot. Not only is Barack Obama the most powerful man on earth but one could argue that he is one of the most important historical figures --even at this early stage-- in the history of these divided states. He is just not a famous person he is a famous person with capital letters. You, as a black man, should be ashamed of yourself. Where is your sense of history? (For the record, you were just as dumb to pass on meeting W with your teammates) It would have been something to tell your children and grandchildren; the fact that you visited the White House and met the first black president. Don't you get that? What a shame, all that money you make from playing ball and you can't even buy a clue.

You are not hurting the president by not accepting his invitation, you are hurting yourself. His O ness has met many famous people and he is famous himself, you taking some kind of righteous stand not to visit the White House just makes you look stupid.

Oh field, stop it. If this was a republican president and the guy had refused to meet with him you wouldn't even have posted about it, but because it's a black president and a black football player dissed him, you are all up in arms. Isn't that true field?

Well, yes and no. I would be up in arms and posted about it if it was a black republican president. (What's the chance of that ever happening?) Because James Harrison should have a sense of history and he should understand the historical importance of having the first president of color in the White House, whether he agrees with the man's politics or not.

Oh well, just one more reason not to hold these athletes up as role models for our children. They continue to do great things on the playing field, but dumb things off it. As if this wasn't bad enough. Harrison's stance on visiting the White House should get him flagged for unnecessary stupidity.

Pro life?

Hey, notice something in that picture I have up there? Take your time, I will give you a minute or two to look at it................Did you look? What did you notice? If you said that the main protesters at the Pro-Life anti Obama protest in South Bend are all men; go to the head of the class.

I always thought that if it were men who were given the unenviable task of carrying babies for nine months, that there would be drive-through abortion clinics. I guarantee you that the world would be an empty fucking place. So my views when it comes to this abortion debate is pretty simple: Since I can't have babies, and I don't have to carry the little crumb snatchers in my stomach for nine months, I figure I have no say in the matter. Period!

But tomorrow his O ness goes to a fine Catholic institution of higher learning and there are plenty of good Catholics who do want their say in the matter, and they are not too pleased. They don't want Notre Dame to give his O ness an honorary degree (What's with these universities and these honorary degrees? They sure are stingy with them for this president. ), and they have no problem with letting the world know about it.

"I do not feel comfortable going and celebrating him as the university hands him an honorary degree -- "

So says senior, Emily Toates. Question for Emily: Emily, do you support the death penalty? Oh field, there you go with the if you support the death penalty you can't be pro life. We are talking about an innocent life as opposed to someone who has been found guilty. Hmmmm, I see. Found guilty by who? I thought only god could be the judge of that? Didn't he die on a cross to make that point?

But tomorrow should be fun. Not since the folks in South Bend actually knew how to play the game of football has there been so much excitement on the Notre Dame campus. And I am not mad at you Catholics, it seems that the majority of you think that this is much ado about nothing. Apparently you have no problem with his O ness speaking on your hallowed grounds. But, sadly, some of you do.
"If he was invited to a town hall meeting, a panel discussion, something where we were discussing these issues ... then I wouldn't have a problem with it. I would go and hear what he has to say," she said. "The problem is, a commencement isn't the context for a dialogue. He's going to be standing up on the stage speaking to us in our seats. There isn't that opportunity for dialogue."

Yes, we want dialogue. Dialogue is always good. Do you hear that Obama? Dialogue.

Finally, just a quick note: Today I was in North Philadelphia doing my usual thing with some young bucks who I try to mentor and keep on the straight and narrow, and I actually felt good about what I saw and how my young bucks were doing in school, etc. Like Ice Cube would say, I thought it was going to be a "Good Day."
But then I got home and while watching the news I saw where some animals tried to rob a man of his gold chain (not far from where I was today), and when he wouldn't give it up, they shot him and the three year old he was holding. A FUCKING THREE YEAR OLD! Dialogue.....

The newest weapon of "mass de-straction".

I am no fan of Nancy Pelosi. I think she is a typical weaselly politician who puts politics before principal. And, to be honest, she has probably done the dumbocrats more harm than good. (I bet right now his O ness is wishing that she would just go away)

This latest brouhaha over whether the frat boy's administration authorized torture is a prime example of Lady Nancy being a problem for the dems. Did she or didn't she know that Dick the devil et al were torturing alleged terrorists for fun? She says that she never knew; the CIA said that they briefed her; she says that they are liars. Who do we believe? In any case, she has taken this debate to an entirely different level, and she has caused us to lose focus of the real issue: Just why the hell was the frat boy and his minions breaking the law in the name of national security? That, my friends, is what we should be focusing on. That is what this debate should be about. Not whether Nancy Pelosi was briefed and sat on her rich ass or not. If she was and did nothing, I wouldn't be surprised. That is what I would expect from a career politician. Test the political wind and act accordingly. And if you will recall, at the time this was all going down the political wind was blowing in an entirely different direction.

But this is a typical republican trick: change the focus and distract. And Lady Nancy has fallen right into their trap. The folks at FOX are having multiple orgasms (what's that white stuff all over the studio floor?) because they have possibly caught a powerful dumbocrat in a lie. Their leaders are foaming at the mouth with phony outrage, and they haven't sought out the microphone this much since the days of Bubba's blowjobs. (speaking of white stuff on the floor. ) Of course this could not have come at a better time for a party that was disintegrating before our very eyes. Now, possibly, they have found something to rally around, and they will ride this donkey (no pun intended) until it's dead.

"I think this is the most despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort I've seen in my lifetime." "She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowist of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior." "Speaker Pelosi's the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses,”

Oh Newt, put a lid on it. Save all of your phony pontification for the FOX studios. They might believe your bullshit, but fortunately, no one else does.

Dog whistles and white friends.

So my image jones continues. Ben Dimiro from Media Matters sent me something else that has me a little hot and bothered and wondering about myself.

Am I being a little too paranoid? Is my hatred for some on the right in this country so strong, that I would think that they would stoop as low as to send dog whistles to their minions to hurt little girls? Did the editor over at the conservative, Washington Times, really consider this picture placement before he or she put it in their paper?

"...And no, this was not an example of an unfortunate juxtaposition, where the the Obama girls photo was actually part of another, more innocuous story and because of a layout quirk simply appeared near the murdered-kids story. Instead, the Obama girls photo was specifically selected to accompany the article. Ordinarily I'd say that's just God-awful judgment on the part of the Times editors. But increasingly, I get the feeling that there isn't anybody at the Times actually making editorial decisions. "

Hmmmm.

Oh, and one more thing. I told you black folks that it's good to have white friends. They hip you to shit that we don't even know is going on. Like this so called portrait of our first black president with some other presidents, for instance. (**See sidebar) It is going around on their e-mail lists. I bet you half the white folks in A-murder-ca has gotten that e-mail. (Present company excluded of course)

Thank you W---- for e-mailing me that pic. I won't expose you because some of your white friends might be reading this and I don't want to put you out there. Just know that us field Negroes appreciate when we have a spy in the big house.

Some things you just don't do.

This is a memo to Mark Cuban from the field:

Mark, I know that you hire a lot of black men to play on your team and you are an owner in the NBA, which means that you have a lot of interaction with black men by default. But there is something you should know: DON'T YOU EVER EVER DISRESPECT A BLACK MAN'S MAMA! I don't care how much of those "dead presidents" you have just sitting around collecting interest. Some things you just don't do. I know you got caught up in the heat of your team's playoff series, but don't let that shit cause you to end up in a Dallas hospital some damn where. And for the record, your apology on your blog was lame.

Your actions the other night, as you walked off the court, towards Kenyon Martin's mother, had me wanting to kick your ass. There is a reason we say "your mama" to each other if we really want to rumble. Not your wife. Not your daddy. (Well, most of us don't know our Daddies) And not your grandma. Your mama is what gets our blood boiling. Because, for better or for worse, we just love our damn mamas.

And let's be clear; the real villain in this sad episode is not you, Mark. No, the real villain is that coward, David Stern, for not slapping you with a big fat fine. (I guess there is a different standard for owners) You have created an environment in Dallas that could lead to something nasty, and leaving the family members of visiting players exposed to that Texas mob (ahhh Texas, again) in your arena is just downright irresponsible.

I never agree with Jason Fatlock, but I might have to this time. He is right when he says this:

"Right or wrong, disrespecting a black man's mama publicly has always been a drop-the-gloves moment. When a billionaire white man does it, it becomes a ride-or-die episode for the entire neighborhood.

Last I checked, Martin plays in a league dominated by black men hailing from the don't-talk-about-my-mama culture. I don't have any doubt that La La Vazquez and every other Nugget sympathizer who entered American Airlines Arena for Game 4 came with an attitude looking for tiny signs of disrespect.

I'm sorry. I don't blame them.
I'm 42. I'm mature. I'm a pacifist. I haven't been in a fight since college. I honestly can't remember the last time I was fighting mad. But had Cuban wagged his finger at my mother, loud talked her and told her I was a "punk" and/or a "thug" — after I pulled my mother (father and brother) off him — I would have delivered at least one mouth shot."

Mr. Fatlock, make that two of us.

I will pass on this protest.

OK, let me jump in here. I read the following post from Carmen Dixon over on AOL Black Voices:

"At the risk of augmenting album sales for a performer I don't personally support, I call your attention to Eminem's latest track attack on Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon's confrontational response. This back and forth is a little more interesting than the standard diss and diss back, because Cannon calls out the racial dynamic of Eminem's sexually derogatory attacks on Mariah Carey in a track called 'Bagpipes From Baghdad' from Eminem's forthcoming album, 'Relapse.' Here's just an excerpt of what Cannon had to say to Eminem, calling him "Slim Lamey," via a Friday blog post, which seems to have been taken down:

Maybe I'm going too far, but I thought we moved beyond the days where white men could spew vulgar obscenities at our beautiful queens and get away with it. What's next? Source: Rap-Up.comCannon continues:

Are we going to let this trash say something horrible about our lovely first lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama? Or would Marshall have talked sideways out of his neck like this about Oprah Winfrey? This act of racist bigotry cannot go unnoticed. Calling my wife a "c-word" and a "whore" is way worse than anything Don Imus could have ever said. So trust, repercussions will be served.Cannon raises an interesting point. Given that Eminem has used racist, derogatory language to describe black people, and black women in particular, in previous lyrics, why do so many black people lap up what he lays down?Reading the comment threads surrounding this drama, I am surprised by the number of women and black people defending Eminem when Asher Roth just got excoriated for joking about "nappy headed hoes." And rightly so, I might add. Please explain it to me. Why does the black community continue to support Eminem despite his racist lyrics?"

Nick, there won't be any repercussions from moi, because, sorry, I am just not feeling your wife Mariah as one of our "beautiful Queens". Yeah yeah yeah, I know she passes the "one drop rule" and the whole nine. But in my humble opinion, to be a black "Queen", you have to first consider yourself a black Queen.

Now I am no big Eminem fan. To me, he is just a decent lyricist who is not afraid to be controversial. But that's about it. As far as rapping goes he is nothing special. Give this old head Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Common, or U-Roy. (Whoops, I almost left out Masta Ace) But Nick Cannon taking on the great white hope of rap is ludicrous. NICK CANNON? The same Nick Cannon who had that coon fest on MTV, "Wild N Out"? Yeah right

Look Nick, I know she is your wife, and you have to defend her honor. You should be commended for that. Just don't expect us field Negroes to sabotage massa's crops over this shit.

I am just saying.

I will take Rush over the black guy.

"Well, if I had to choose in terms of being a Republican, I'd go with Rush Limbaugh, I think,"..." I think my take on it was Colin had already left the party. I didn't know he was still a Republican."

That was the devil himself disguised as an old white man named Dick Cheney. He was telling CBS News and anyone who would listen that he would rather have a fat drug addicted [alleged]pedophile in his party, than a genuine "American hero", Colin Powell. Wow!

Now I am no political expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I am guessing that if you asked most A-murder-cans who they would trust more to be their leader, they would say the good general and not anyone from the new "axis of evil"; Cheney,Rush, and Newt. Just a thought.

But I knew the marriage couldn't last. I always thought that my homie, Colin, was too decent to be associated with the party of Lincoln. He has disappointed me along the way and left me scratching my head at times (like when he went in front of the world and announced that Saddam had WMD's), but at some point any human being with even an ounce of decency has to realize who these people are and what they really stand for. What they stand for is themselves and their own selfish interests. They are all about power and how to keep it, and damn everyone and everything else. It's why Rush has no problem making fun of people losing their jobs--even people who work for his own company---on his show while he pockets millions of dollars. It's why Dick Cheney will not lose a minutes sleep, even though, thanks to him, over 4,000 will never wake from theirs. It's why Newt Gingrich had no problem divorcing a dying wife as he kicked the tires on his new model. (What is he on now? Number three?) For the record, Powell has been married to the same woman since 1962.

But Powell represents a bigger problem for the folks in the republican party: They are fighting more and more among themselves with each passing day and they can't decide if they should move to the center, become more moderate, and try to be relevant again. Or, if they should move farther to the right and become extinct.

"The Republican Party is in “deep trouble” because it is “getting smaller” and being led by far right polarizing figures... Rush Limbaugh “diminishes the party and intrudes or inserts into our public life a kind of nastiness that we would be better to do without.”

"Well, if I had to choose — in terms of being a Republican — I’d go with Rush Limbaugh, I think. My take on it was that Colin had already left the party. I didn’t know he was still a Republican."

Hey, way to go there Dick; "stand by your man". Even if he is a lying self centered drug addicted one. Let's just hope, for his sake, that he doesn't like hunting.

Hey Texas, when are you going to start this little secession thing? The rest of us are getting impatient.

"TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT.SURVIVORS WILL BE RESHOT!! SMILE I WILL."

That was the sign on Gayle and Sheila Muh's property in Liberty County, Texas. Seems like they are serious about property rights down in the -soon to be-country of Texas. You all remember the case of old Joe Horn (Didn't he play for the Saints?) down in Houston, right? He walked free and is now appearing at a "Tea Party" near you after killing a couple of illegals who were breaking into his neighbor's home.

Anyway, back to the Muhs. Unfortunately the Coffey family either didn't see the sign or chose to ignore it, and as a result, it cost their seven year old son his life. The poor little guy died at a Houston hospital just a couple of days after being struck in the head with shot gun pellets.

Apparently this unsuspecting family had the nerve to be off- roading near the Muh's property and stopped to go to the bathroom. According to the Houston Chronicle the couple fired when they "mistakenly" thought the family was trespassing on their property. And apparently in the great state of Texas, killing trespassers is a family sport.

"Liberty County Chief Deputy Ken DeFoor said Sheila Muhs fired a 12-gauge shotgun once, then handed it to her husband who also fired once." (It's a good thing that they[the Muhs] didn't have kids or the whole [Coffey] family would have been wiped out. The family that shoots together stays together) "DeFoor said Sheila Muhs then called 911 and told the dispatcher: They are out here tearing up the levee, so I shot them." See folks, in Texas, levees are very important. But there is just one little problem; the levee in question belonged to the subdivision and was not on private property.

So now a seven year old is dead; a family friend is in serious condition; and a wounded father is left to mourn the loss of his son. But hey, that's how they roll in Texas. I bet governor "good hair"loved this story.

You know Governor, I was thinking; maybe that Ordinance Of Secession wasn't such a bad idea.

"Guess who is coming to dinner"?

The stars were out in DC tonight to see his O ness do his presidential stand up routine. (What? No Sarah Palin?) I have to say, that like most presidents before him, my man was pretty good. Some of you witty regulars here must have been writing some of those lines for him, because they were dead on.

I loved the line about his two daughters stealing Air Force One and going to New York. And I loved the line about Rahm Emanuel and Mother's Day. The fact that he called out MC Mike, and the clowns at FAKE NEWS made his routine even that much better for the kid.
So his O ness passed this test as well. I am sure the wingnuts were hoping he would fall flat on his face, but he didn't. His delivery was as smooth as a Roger Federer backhand. And it was a winner.
Before I go I want to say something on the eve of Mother's Day:

The first strong black woman I ever knew taught school full time and took care of her family while her husband went through years of graduate school. She then went on and got her own advanced degrees and became a renowned educator and leader in her own right. All this while doing a pretty damn good job of raising two children and holding down the home front.

Mom, I will always love you!!!

Give me chicken or give me death!

Ahhh hell no! Sorry, I am going to have to get with my patio dwelling friend, Oprah, on this one.
Oprah, have you lost your mind? Why are you lending your name to a KFC giveaway? I know times are hard and I guess you want us black folks to eat right by eating that new grilled chicken they are serving up (not going to work, my cousins love them some fried chicken and the original recipe too damn much), but you have got to stop it. Your little stunt damn near caused the folks in New York to have to call the National Guard. FREE CHICKEN? IN THIS ECONOMIC CLIMATE? AND IN NEW YORK? Oprah that's just asking for trouble. Some news outlets are even saying that your giveaway, or lack of it, sparked "civil rights era protest" . CIVIL RIGHTS ERA PROTEST OVER SOME DAMN CHICKEN? So this is how a revolution starts: Promise a bunch of chicken loving A-murder-cans freebies and not deliver.
Black folks are crying "fried chicken racism." Come on field, it is racism. I bet if they had freebies at Starbucks they wouldn't run out. Can't you see it field, it's the man trying to keep us chicken lovers down. Oprah should be ashamed of herself. Well yeah, she should be ashamed of herself. But it should be for agreeing to do this promotion with KFC in the first damn place. Like she needs the money. *

Look Oprah, you don't need this right now. Not when some of my blogging buddies have been ripping you---and rightfully so--- for supporting the latest in a line of celebrity loons.

And black folks can we talk? What the hell is it with you all and these damn chickens? (Even though all I see are white people in *this pic. [Except for my two cousins in the back. Get out people!]) Field don't front like you don't love you some chicken. OK I won't front. I love me some chicken, too. But damn it I won't stage a sit in if I can't get a two piece with two sides. That shit is embarrassing. And white folks if any of you were involved you ought to be ashamed of your damn selves as well. In fact, I know some of you were involved because the free coupons were on Oprah's site and you all love Oprah.

Oh well, all is well that ends well. I think Queen O has said they are getting things together and everyone will be able to get their free chicken. The president of KFC has issued a formal apology, and A-murder-ca is back to normal. No more chicken riots.

Go figure, swine flu and chicken riots. I know one thing; I would rather be a pig than a chicken in A-murder-ca right about now.

Field questionnaire.

The picture that goes along with this post (I know, I have been into images a lot lately) along with others with it , have been generating quite a bit of buzz among certain parts of the bloggosphere. Seeing and reading different people's take on it has been interesting to say the least. Hey, I am not here to preach, just to observe and read tonight. I get the subliminal racist Mandingo buck raping Missy imagery. And the not too subtle sexually charged messages that feed into our stereotypes of the black male.

I get all of that. But what I really want to know is this: In this "post- racial" world where it's supposedly cool to bet on black, and where we are told that generation Xers and those who came after them really don't see race. Who do you think these pictures would piss off more?

There is no wrong answer.

A. The crowd at a black sorority convention? (Where my pink & greens at?)

B. The aging congregation of a large, black, Southern Baptist church?

C. The aging congregation of a large, white, Southern church?

D. The crowd at a republican town- hall meeting? (Any town)

E. None of the above.

Please hurry with your comments. I am trying to get off of this page as soon as possible. Mrs. field doesn't know how to act when she sees "cut" brothers. I can't chance her walking by and seeing this pic.

Hat tip to Emmjay for e-mailing me the link to the Gisele Bundchen photos.

A "fair and balanced" aim.

Like I wasn't going to blog about this story. Hell as much as I hate the folks over at Radio Rwanda and their 24 hour hate fest, do you really think I wasn't going to talk about their latest little production? Sheeeet.

See that picture I posted up there above you to your left? That is what the folks at FOX had up on their new web site, FOX NATION, recently. Now I have to confess: I am not one of these people who see subliminal messages and conspiracy theories at every turn. But this one......I don't know FOX, this shit isn't even subliminal.

I have to give credit to the folks over at RAW STORY for exposing FOX's latest fuck you to his O ness. Hey, at least some of us are watching.

Now honestly, this is A-murder-ca, and the folks at FOX should have every First Amendment right that is afforded the rest of us. But where do you draw the line? I am sure you have heard this before: But you can't yell fire in a crowded theater. FOX has millions of fans who are of a certain....well, ahhm, how do I say this? Hell there is no nice way to say it: They have a bunch of red-neck gun toting crazies, who watch them 24/7, who hang on there every word, and who would love nothing more than to bust a cap in that skinny nigger with the Muslim name's ass. So yes, I do think they are being just a little bit irresponsible. The theater is way too crowded right about now.

But that's just me, field, the FOX hater, writing. I am sure that some of you really believe that they are"fair and balanced". You believe that the gun pointing at the president's head was purely coincidental. Just wait, tomorrow they might have one pointing at the First Lady's head. I guess that will be their interpretation of "fair and balanced".

Hat tip to my man, Greg Williams, for e-mailing this story to me.

Derrick Donchak could be one of our future Republican congressmen from Pennsylvania.

Boy, I bet white A-murder-ca is glad that you Mexicans ain't like us brothers. You see what we did after that jury out in California said not guilty and set Rodney King's assailants free. Yep, we pretty much burned down South Central, LosAngeles.

Fast forward seventeen years to a different place. This time it's the Schuylkill County region here in Pistolvania. A state that can be just as racist and backwards as the ones supposedly down in Dixie. Anyway, seems an all white jury acquitted a fine All American boy for getting the better of some immigrant in a little fist fight. --So the Mexican wasn't tough enough, hey, it's not our fault that he grew up soft in Mexico-- and now all these civil rights race pimps are up in arms. They even want more hate crime laws for crying out loud. Geez!

Get over yourselves people, shit happens. Oh come on field, stop being sarcastic. Why do we need hate laws, aren't the republicans right? I mean if someone kills someone they are charged with murder and could face the death penalty. To paraphrase George Bush: it doesn't get anymore severe than death. What good would a hate crime do? Well, for starters, it might have prevented him from killing that Gay, or Mexican, or black person, in the first place. Just a thought. Not so field, the republicans are right, that Matthew Shepperd guy wasn't targeted because he was gay, he was targeted because he had money and his killer was high. Yeah, OK, and I love Lark Voorhies for her acting skills. Someone should tell Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and the rest of the clowns in the hate party, that it might not be so cool to speculate about the motives behind the death of a young man who was brutally murdered, and belittle his memory to his family and friends who are still here to hear her hateful words. And I am guessing that poor Luis Ramirez wasn't targeted for his money. In fact, if you read about the case you will find that he was baited into a fight with "racial epithets". Imagine that? "Racial epithets."

The following comes from a fine Christian website. (Man I love those Christians)

"No one is in favor of injustice, much less hate, nor is any one is in favor of crime. But this is not really about justice. Honest homosexuals admit that these laws are not needed for law enforcement purposes. This is not like during the time when blacks were being murdered and denied justice by corrupt courts so that the Federal government had to intervene. There is no similar pattern of injustice or lack of enforcement towards victims who are homosexual. The attempt to include sexual orientation into law is only one more step in the process to normalize homosexual behavior. This is part of an incremental strategy to force acceptance of homosexuality into all parts of the culture under the color of law and to punish those who oppose it.

Hate crimes enhancements turns justice on its head and creates unequal justice under law. Rather than correcting an inequity, like it originally did for blacks, now it creates injustice. Hates crimes creates a class of criminals who are “more guilty,” not because of what they did, but because of what they might have been thinking. It also creates unequal justice for different classes of victims, some who are considered “more worthy” of greater legal protection than others. Thomas Jefferson said, “the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions…” The government is not competent to read a person's mind, much less criminalize his opinions."

And then there is this from a wingnut website I linked earlier:

"One of the most insidious and almost hidden dangers of the bill is that it could be used to halt the free speech of Catholic and protestant ministers alike as it pertains to the biblical teachings of homosexuality. The bible is clear that homosexuality is and always was an abomination in God's eyes. An abomination is a sin that makes God sick to disgust. While this is true the bible does not allow any believer to harm or injure a gay person in any way, not even with words. Not even these biblical protections are good enough for most gays.."

Sorry, can't blame the Gays for not trusting those "biblical protections". I mean if they make god "sick" and "disgusted" isn't it pretty much a wrap? I am just saying.

Man I sure am glad that god loves us black folks again. I bet the people up in Schuylkill County are too.
