"WASHINGTON - Activists at a conservative political forum snapped up boxes of waffle mix depicting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as a racial stereotype on its front and wearing Arab-like headdress on its top flap.
Values Voter Summit organizers cut off sales of Obama Waffles boxes on Saturday, saying they had not realized the boxes displayed "offensive material." The summit and the exhibit hall where the boxes were sold had been open since Thursday afternoon.
Values Voter Summit organizers cut off sales of Obama Waffles boxes on Saturday, saying they had not realized the boxes displayed "offensive material." The summit and the exhibit hall where the boxes were sold had been open since Thursday afternoon.
The box was meant as political satire, said Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, two writers from Franklin, Tenn., who created the mix. They sold it for $10 a box from a rented booth at the summit sponsored by the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council...."
TEN DOLLARS? That's a lot for a box of waffles. Where do I start with this story? Some of you have been e-mailing me and commenting here about this story. And you wondered what my take would be on it. Some of you thought it was purely satire, as Bob DeMoss, one of the creators of the mix said; and you thought that I would see it as such. Well, it's a funny thing about satire: it's kind of like Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart described pornography: "I know it when I see it". Sorry folks, this wasn't satire, it was racism. Maybe I can't give a fair take on this subject, since my disdain for the people who were buying up and selling the Obama waffles is so strong. But that's just the way I see it. There is just too much history with these folks for me to give them a pass.
But then I hear that they didn't only offend my peeps by playing off the negative imagery of Aunt Jemima----that Mammy that A-merry-cans love so much--, but they offended Muslims on the top of the box, and Mexicans on the back. On the back they had an image of Obama in stereo typical Mexican dress, which included a sombrero. The picture was above a recipe for "Open Border Fiesta Waffles" and it said you can serve "four more illegal aliens...while waiting on these zesty treats to invade your home, why not learn a foreign language? " Nice! You gotta love those "Family Research Council" and American Values folks, they sure know how to fire up their base. I bet those pancake boxes were flying out of the booth. And I bet there will be a booming Internet business for these two creators for weeks and weeks to come.
"The Obama campaign declined to comment"
Of course they did. We can't have the "O man playing the victim card now can we. That's the beauty queen's job.

The Obama Waffles box in addition to the group earlier this year who was selling bumper stickers and pins with the line "If Obama is President will we still call it the White House?" indicates to me that the GOP isn't interested in hiding the fact that they cater to ignorant, racist, White people.
Where is the comment from the McCain camp that they will not support such language against Obama?
Just as the right wing said Obama should denounce Wright, I feel McCain and friends should denounce these peddlers of racist sh*t. If they don't denounce, then they are supporting racism and racist actions and this needs to be pointed out through all the appropriate means.
anon spuncmunk...Your just an another apologist for current system a WHITE in power ONLY system. But CHANGE is coming.
....still will have to deal with the constant racial bombardment from all directions and DON'T complain or spuncmunk and his ilk will remind you to "get out of the kitchen" and back in the field.
...ain't going nowhere...can't get my scrapple from any other place. The hotter for fire the better the scrapple, baby!
Moving from the field to the Whitehouse!
hey field, got another one for you:
http://www.commonplacebook.com/current_events/politics/racist_mccain_a.shtm
this blog is covering McCain's latest ad and it's calling a pig a pig: the ad is racist, demanding RESPECT from a Black man (Obama).
Do I need to rewatch "In the Heat of the Night" or what?
How come nobody has come out with Klan Flakes yet? Or Raisin' Klan cereal?
Does anyone have Bob Johnson's number?
"But then I hear that they didn't only offend my peeps by playing off the negative imagery of Aunt Jemima..."
FN you know racialism in an equal opportunity offender. I don't think it's going to work.
Yea anon 11:29a approves and many more will, too. It's nothing we haven't seen over the millenia.
What amazes me more are the people who don't even see anything wrong with this.
These same people would be in an uproar if someone started selling dog food with Sarah's face on it, or loose Bristol and her "baby daddy's" faces on a box of condoms.
(Can anyone tell how much I can't stand that woman?)

field, field, field. I been done told you culluds that fighting these republicans requires the brass ovaries of Hillary Clinton and not the effete marshmallow gonads of Barack Obama:
Order Now...They're Selling Like Hotcakes
The democratic ticket should be Clinton-Obama, not Obama-Clinton, nor Obama-Biden. Clinton-Obama!!
When is this PAN (punk-ass-Niqqer) going to start throwing?
But then, does he know how to throw? field, why don't you give your boi some boxing lessons?
field, do you know how to throw?
Some people just keep passing the stupid down from generation to generation like a family heirloom. Our country was born 232 years ago on the principle of equality for all and still blacks, women, natives, LGBTs, and others are struggling for their equality. And these waffle guys think they are really clever. It is not just wrong, it is stupid.
old white guy:
You and Granny on the same page, my thoughts exactly.
"field, field, field. I been done told you culluds that fighting these republicans requires the brass ovaries of Hillary Clinton and not the effete marshmallow gonads of Barack Obama:"
Maybe not nsangoma, his O ness has gotten this far being a gentleman, let's see how far this will take him. Remember, he is the candidate of change.
"fN- you disapoint me....i thought everyone was fair game here???
so, let me get this straight???if'n it afends yo race/sex/beliefs it's off limits???"
Nope, just MY race, and when I don't like the person doing the offending. And for the record; everyone is fair game here, even christian right wing, family value conservatives. Correct that; ESPECIALLY christian right wing family value conservatives.
Fred Thompson's speech was racist too. "They think their entitled and it's their inheritance." He made is seem like it was a race war, which it isn't, but that is what he wanted poor whites to think.
They've been using and exploiting poor whites since slavery and back when this country was founded. The elistist throw them out the scraps off the table to make them think that they are better than blacks, but in reality the elist opinion of them is just as low, but you can't get them to see that, and yes, ignorance has a lot to do with it.
The founding fathers carefully constructed the laws to keep the wealth in their hands and make sure that it would passed down from generation to generation while they exploited the average citizen for free labor or slave wages. It was never intended for the average citizen white or black to get as far as they did. Nor did they intend for them to have a decent education either. However, now the real elite feels threaten because more and more young people, black and white have been educated and understand this.
The elite doesn't see it as we're tired of the corruption in the White House and them taking advantage of the average hardworking citizen, senior citizens, disabled, and poor people just so they can profit off of our backs while we are struggling to get by and barely making it.
There is a lot McCain's campaign needs to be called on, but he should be called on it by the people. He needs to hear our voices loud and clear, I'm referring to WE the people. The reason McCain's campaign is playing dirty like they are is because they are trying to get Obama to react and figure out a way to twist things around and set him up. It's time for the people of America to wake up.
Obama's pansy ass wanted to just eat his waffles when he needed an excuse to avoid questioning. Waffles are not pancakes.
No one but people looking for racism forced a connection between Aunt J and Obama's waffles. Yall keep this shit up. Everything is always racist. If it is so racist, and no one will ever change, then why do black folks keep on expecting change? Which one is it? Hope that things will change, that there are non-racist white people or white people are just racist and will never change and we black folk will just cry, cry, cry, cry.
~
Mayhap so, I understand that the rap is no longer "change we can believe in", but now "change we need".
Obama's 'Change' Slogan Gets a Change
Yeah, yeah; that really reads and sounds less gentlemanly.
`
First off, it's been a while since I've commented. Gotta say, glad to see some of the changes around here, in particular the white background, the header, and that you're eventually going to get a fieldnegro.com. Secondly, you mean to tell me that Obama's a waffle and McCain isn't? The same McCain who wipes his mouth with toilet paper and eats through his sphincter?! 'Cause this McCain dude isn't the same man we knew from 2000 or even 2K4. He'll say anything to win, and I mean anything. Glad to see you still pointing out stuff. As for you leaving the Google group, I'm assuming you mean what I think you mean, and yeah, I understand. Peace.
I would rather see McCain and Palin on the side of a milk carton.
Fred Thompson, that old Uncle Fester-looking MFer. Didn't he dump his wife for a hoe younger than his grandkids like McPain did? Why doesn't the Family Research Council ever do any research on the family values of those they have up there spewing self-righteous, judgemental bullshit?
If Jesus were to ever come back, these would be the people trying to send him to Guantanamo to be waterboarded.
You can tell that anonymous 3:10 is a misguided kid, just another person to add to my prayer list. It's sad how some of these kids are being neglected and not given enough attention from their parents, and it shows.
Stick with the issues Obama. People tend to forget so easily why we are in Iraq. How so many people & businesses are making money off of George Bush's war. Talk about McCain's lack of good judgment while supporting George Bushes policies for the past 8 yrs.
Talk about the skyrocketing costs of health care and lack of health care for so many. The price of gas. Education costs skyrocketing, etc.
Keep your focus sharp as a razor.
Since when is ignorance a good thing? I wish we could sentence Lou Dobbs to obligatory Spanish lessons, then to talk with the people he denigrates daily, find out what their stories really are all about.
Mark:
I wish they would banish Lou Dobbs from the television set. His mouth is full of poisonous venom, that is one racist, mean-spirited, hateful man. I can't stand to even hear him talk. He is definitely one of the "good ole boys" and it's so obvious.
I watch Rep. Stephanie Tubbs memorial yesterday on CSPAN, about the only place you get see what is really going on. I enjoyed it and being able to take a breather from all the hateful things going on in this election.
Thanks for the shout out today for my site in your "Blog I Am Feeling" section, Field.
This damn election, and all the bullshit info people keep calling with have kept me hot and on the web the last few months.
This shit is going down to the wire - when you hear the dogs barking and you feel the water hoses stinging you will know we are close.
I think this waffle box is just a warm up.
I am personally waiting for them to pull a sexually assaulted white girl out of the closet by the middle of next month, if they can find one who can act well enough to pull it off.
Too bad he went to such high end schools - its going to be real hard to find a chick blonde enough and broke enough to play along.
This seems to appeal to the same kinds of morons who think that Sarah Palin is qualified to be more than a dog catcher.
While there is a small amount of humor to the package design, and it is certainly less offensive than many other outright racist and inappropriate messages out there, it is at the very least disrespectful.
But whoever said that these mental midget republicans care one wit about showing respect?
The quintessential example of this was when these same people (who just happen to think they are so clever and so cute--don't you think? and whose own IQs probably make Bush and McCain seem like Einstein by comparison) at the 2004 republican convention went around sporting their Purple Heart band aids. Never mind the fact that John Kerry was in Viet Nam and was wounded several times fighting a war that they and their cowardly ilk (past tense of Elk?) decided to sit out along with their hero George W. Bush who was AWOL and Dick 5 deferments Cheney.
These people deserve Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin to make their lives worse. Because they are too stupid to know it.
Please visit this website then send it to everyone you know. I assure you your mind will be blown by the ish you find out about this clown.

The McCain/Palin...errr Mr. Morten/BQ campaign of Rethuglicans are like a cornered badger. These motherfuggers are trying everything to beat the O man. Hell, even Karl Rove is questioning their motives. Go fucking figure.
blackinusa:
Even though Karl Rove is questioning McCain's motives, he is not to be trusted, even though for once he is telling the truth. I'm sure Rove has a trick up his sleeves and is trying to make people think he is free of bias. That is an old trick used by the "good ole boy network" They've used similar tricks thinking that they would be able to pull the wool over MLK and even the Pullmans Porters eyes.
Anyone with eyes and ears can see that McCain is using dirty tactics and lying. Some might not want to admit it, because they agree with that type of mess. However, make no mistake Rove is the enemy, and is looking for a way to counteract the outcry of the people.
A zebra does not change its stripes.
Family Research Council. . . what a tangled web that one is. . . spawned in the Reagan White House and now one of the main attractions of right wing politicians. . . Rudy and Mitt were both there when they were selling those satirical boxes of Pancake mix. Hell yes it was all satirical; satirical racism. Aint no reason why satire can't be just as racist as some cracker in a hood. . . and that's about what we have here. Dress it up all nice and pass it off as "satire." Whatever. You can put lip stick on a pig and it's still a pig.
Sorry to cut back in, but I have to ask. There have been several comments made critical of Mr. Obama of a most juvenile nature. While dissent is OK, this is supposed to be a free country after all, I would like to hear from some of you Obama detractors just what it is about the republicans that you find so attractive? What is it they have done that has made your life in the last 8 years better?
I really would want to know. I admit I might have missed something and I'd really appreciate having it spelled out for me.
poor obama, no one can parody him, he is off limits.
if it were a sausage, it would be yall saying obama wants to rape white women.
if it were a cup, it would be yall saying obama needs to bring the white man a cup of water.
if it were an egg, it would be yall making fun of obama's bi-racial make up. you know two colors.
if it were a desk, it would be yall saying obamba just stands there like a shiftless negro.
if it were a shirt, it would be yall saying obama cares about clothes like cedric the entertainer, yall are racist.
if it were a car, it would be yall saying obama shines his car while he wants to go to the welfare office.
if it were a piece of paper, it would be yall trying to say obama copies what other people write..........
nothing but excuses.....
obama is an empty suit, not saying it is racism. saying it is racism when it is not is losing him more votes.
Hey anon...I hear Geraldo is going live election day to Strom Thurman's grave. He's bringing Fox News' high def microphones to hear him spinning in his grave when the O man wins. LMFAO!
Listen everyday I check the poll numbers. Today, I noticed something real odd going on. Yesterday the polls read for the electoral McCain 224 and Obama 244, btw that is how it has been reading for a few weeks now. Okay, so today I go and look at it and noticed that it read McCain 224 and Obama 238. Now up for grabs it was reading 70 for the past week, however, today it is 76 up for grabs. They took away 6 from Obama's numbers and added them back on to the 70 up for grabs.
Okay, now isn't it something wrong with that?
What I am loving are the code words that the Republicans are trying to use to reach their folks -Nascar Dads, Walmart Moms, The Bubba vote, it kills me. I guess since Tiger and the Williams sisters they cant talk about Golf and tennis...tehehe.
It is so strange that people preach about Christian love and values and then have such hateful things to say
I see anonymous 7:06 is still here trying to put a muzzle on equality and justice for all. Shaking my head. Sometimes I wish I had a can of raid.
I doubt that the story will be discuss incessantly tomorrow like the lipstick on the pig that dominated the news cycle for two days.
Anon:
That was more than just a parody. Obama has been parodied without the racial connotations. Besides, Republicans like their policies are also bad with telling jokes. It's not a good thing to venture out on something outside of your limitations. Learn from scrapple as is an example of a good joke, and it's funny. Your little attempt at a joke was pathetic and my only hope that did not spend a great amount time thinking about it. Who I am kidding, if you spent more than 30 seconds on that skit, then you have too much time on your hands and limited brain agility.
@gwpriester "While there is a small amount of humor to the package design, and it is certainly less offensive than many other outright racist and inappropriate messages out there, it is at the very least disrespectful."
Sorry, racism doesn't come with a sliding scale: it's either racist or it's not.
And it's all offensive to those of us who have been on the receiving end of it.
Calling it "disrespectful" is tantamount to spraying perfume on some, and allowing the other to reek to high heaven.
I, for one, did not find a "small amount of humor" in it.
This crap saddens me. It tells me just how far the country has come and how much farther it has to go to liberate itself from all this reactionary, glory-days bull when these things were done with great applause and approbation by the racial majority.
I find humor in a good joke. The best jokes don't demean, and belittle others, but show the comic in a less than flattering light.
From that perspective, the joke should have been on them.
In all fairness, the rest of your comments were spot on.
Granny:
Now we have to be kind to the feckless as maybe Anon can't help his state of chronic stupidity. It may be disease or perhaps his mother just dropped him his head when he was a small child. It must be painful to wake up stupid every morning. He probably would think it was a bad thing if he was not suffering from such affliction. We can only place a call into 1-800-2-STUPID in the hope he will get the help he desperately needs.
Janice:
You hit on the nail on the head with that one. I'm a believer too, but the kind of love and values the GOP is trying to push off as Christianity is not what I learned in the KJV or Sunday school. Granny went to a bible college, can expound on the word, and grew up in a family of a long line of preachers and prayer warriors.
However, the Republican's so-call Christianity reminds me of a few scriptures:
"This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me."
"They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak."
"He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool."
Henna:
I think I might have been having one of those senior moments. (wink)
Have you checked out the young Black man that says he is Bristol Palin's baby-daddy?

Question: Do you think there is a difference between the waffles and The New Yorker? I don't. I found both offensive.
Someone on a different blog, had an awesome idea, as to what the Obama camp should do with the whole "Obama Waffles" thing...
"I think the Obama camp should purchase as many of these as they can, then use the product to help feed a bunch of homeless people and have a big media event. Sure, the douchebag that made the product is gonna make some money, but he won't be laughing all the way to the bank when his little stunt backfires in his face.
Could you imagine having a big tent set up somewhere near Galveston, feeding these waffles & pancakes to the victims, rescue workers and cleanup crews??
I know I have some weird ideas sometimes, but what do you think of this?"
I personally would add, that Obama should put inventor of the "Obama Waffles" on the spot, and ask him to donate all profits to the victims of hurricane Ike.
Off Topic:
I just wanted to say that I was glad to see jjbrock, sagaciousbilly's, others post something. Granny has had many of the people who post on here, regularly, on her mind because of the hurricanes. I know that many of the posters lived in TX, but I can't remember the names of the ones who do. I'm praying for their safety.
TJ wash:
I like the last part of your idea, but not the first part. However, this is the part that I like:
"Obama should put inventor of the "Obama Waffles" on the spot, and ask him to donate all profits to the victims of hurricane Ike."
However, seriously, I don't think Obama should even acknowledge the waffles and ignoring it would be the best thing to do. Obama graduated from Harvard Law University not Kiddie Elementary School. Even though, it is racist insult, it could backfire and show that McCain is regressing back into his childhood. You know some old people do that when they're going to the stages of senility.
It's funny how nobody at the Values Voter Summit objected to the Obama Waffles until AFTER the media showed up.
On another note ... I hope everybody read that wonderful piece about Palin in the New York Times--"Once Elected, Palin Hired Friends and Lashed Foes."
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/us/politics/14palin.html?hp
She is one scary gal. The Republicans are already blasting it as a "hit piece," so I decided to send a letter to the public editor at the Times (public@nytimes.com) thanking the paper and encouraging it to keep digging.
Sheila
"I wish they would banish Lou Dobbs from the television set. His mouth is full of poisonous venom, that is one racist, mean-spirited, hateful man. I can't stand to even hear him talk. He is definitely one of the "good ole boys" and it's so obvious."
And the scary thing about old Lou is that he is married to a Mexican. Can you say issues?
"poor obama, no one can parody him, he is off limits."
Not true anon. The "New Yorker" did a parody of him. Which, by the way, I supported at the time. But again, I reserve the right to give a pass to who I want to based on their history. The "New Yorker" gets one, the conservative rethugs do not.
marie from L.A., I did check that out, and I am ust waiting for the little one to be born. Until then, it's just a wait and see game.
I agree with o'gurl, Obama should stick to the issues. He should declare this an issues only week. Leave the other stuff to bloggers like the field Negro :)
*through* instead of *to*
BTW, that is something to think about as well, because when some seniors who are going through stages of azheimers do regress back into their childhood. McCain has definitely been playing a childish game. The childhood bully! After watching Palin's interview she seemed immature to me as well. She just might be his "soulmate" as he called her.
Could you imagine having a big tent set up somewhere near Galveston, feeding these waffles & pancakes to the victims, rescue workers and cleanup crews??
no can do. Obama's ego is too fragile. he cannot laugh himself, he cannot allow the use of anything that one person somewhere may laugh at. he cannot risk it, he is too fragile.....his wittle feelings gets hurt too much.......that's why his pansy ass canceled the SNL appearance. no way he could laugh at his own cult of personality. he believes in it. that white woman sarah done stole his celebrity status from him now all he got left is little jokes that his wittle feelings cannot handle.
Lou Dobbs is married to a Mexican? Damn. I woulda never guessed.
@Granny: "After watching Palin's interview she seemed immature to me as well. She just might be his "soulmate" as he called her."
I know many librarians. And, I can tell you that this "immature" soul has made more than a thimble full of enemies among that group, if she sought to dictate what books should or should not be on library shelves.
Most are women, and I can assure you that what she attempted to do is being vigorously discussed in many a meeting, and seminar.
Someone commented earlier that Sarah was "scary."
She is scary because of her willingness to place her conservative, evangelical religious beliefs front and center, and use her power to recreate the world in that image.
If she ever becomes president, she will seek to destroy Roe v. Wade, and any other legislation, or Supreme Court decisions that don't coincide with her conservative religious views.
Yeah, she's scary, but I find McCain no less scary--he picked her.
Anonymous:
Now I know without a doubt that you are missing some chromosomes. You ever of heard of this before, "putting priorities first"? What part of you don't understand that we just had a natural disaster that destroyed many homes, interrupted lives, and caused deaths. In case, your little small-minded brain did not understand what the humanitarian gesture that demonstrated by him putting aside an appearance on SNL meant, let me break it down for you in plain simple language.
It showed that he has compassion, care, and concern about ALL common ordinary citizens. He has his priorities straight, and he will not be reading "My Pet Goat" or eating birthday cake when we have natural disasters.
Granny thinking to herself out loud--->Geeeze! I hope that when Obama is elected that he'll add a little more funding to the mentally challenged schools as well.
And I also understand that Lou Dobbs was seen with a box. If anyone thinks he is a fair and neutral man, they are sadly mistaken.
obama would not do snl if the earth stood still. the man cannot laugh at himself. he is too immature. his wittle ego is too fragile. make all the excuses you want, the man has issues. but not the issues, because if he really could back up some issues he would not be saying to know obama is to love obama. cult of personality takes a dive off a cliff.
palin would not be on wheaties, maybe her husband, she would be on a cracker box. we need to keep the colors straight if we are going to keep going with the divide and hate.
Hey!Granny keep holding it down. John McCain is no longer pretending to tell the truth. There is no more straight talk express they are openly, laughingly, declaring that they are not going to talk about the issues and are simply going to lie and swift-boat their way into the White House.
They are mean, venal evil people, and 46% of the American public doesn't seem to care! Granny I believe it will work because there is clearly a race element working against Obama.
Chuck Todd said because of the race factor it's put Obama at a seven point disadvantage on election day.
He illustrates this by looking at Wisconsin and Michigan, two states where Obama should be doing better, states that John Kerry won and where democrats and democratic issues are well received. Among the 12% of undecided voters in these states, there is a large number of them who are looking at Obama and shying away.
These are people who support the Democrats, who believe the country is going in the wrong direction, who are opposed to the war, who are voting the democratic ticket right down the line for congress, state elections, and the senate.
But when it comes to Obama they can't bring themselves to pull the trigger. They agree with every policy he has outlined but they still can't bring themselves to vote for him. You might say "well, he just hasn't sold himself well enough," but that would be a ridiculous statement.
If there is one thing Obama has done better than anyone else in this campaign it is sell himself. You could say that they have been confused by all the negative campaigning and lies about Obama that have come out of the right-wing slime machine (and which Hillary's people contributed to), about him being a black nationalist, about him not being Christian, about him having three Muslim names, and you'd be right:
but all of those things have a racist element to them. I've said all along that Obama would have to get an extra ten percent to beat the hidden racism among some white voters, and now it looks like he won't get it.
Chuck Todd says that Obama needs to have at least 48% in battle ground states on the Sunday before the election to combat the racism factor.
All of which leads me back to where I started: this is no longer an election about ideas. It has once again been turned into a culture war.
They are somehow managing to convince people that a man who grew up with a single mother and lived on food stamps is more of an elitist than the guy with nine (and yes it's nine, not seven) houses. Lies! Lies! Lies! Let's face it, this guy who went to Columbia and Harvard is already at a disadvantage.
To me the Democratic National Convention represented my America, the real America, not the 1950s Leave It To Beaver all white fantasies of the Republican party. Why the Democrats weren't prepared for this I have no idea.
jjbrock:
Do not pay attention to what the MSM commentators say, because the election is not over until November 5. They have been manipulating the poll numbers, because MSM is part of CORPORATE America. I know it looks a little dim right now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After every storm there is a rainbow.
I've been paying close attention to the polls and have noticed how they've been manipulating the numbers by taking some off of Obama's and putting them back as if he never had them. I watched them do that during the primaries as well.
Just think back when the primaries were going on how they kept changing the numbers needed to win the electorate vote and changing the battle ground states needed, but it didn't work. They are trying their best to discourage folks from going to the polls and pulling every scandalous, dirty, low-down, conniving trick in the book.
They know that Obama is gonna win this election, and they plan to do everything no matter how crooked it is to block him from winning, but it is not going to work.
Obama had 244 electorate votes and McCain had 224 and it was 70 electorate votes up for grabs. It was like that for the past couple of weeks, Obama only needed 26. Today when I looked 6 of those votes had been taken off and added back onto the 70. However, McCain number still remained at 224.
THINK ABOUT IT! The votes are being manipulated in popular and electorate. I watched them do that during the primaries as well. That is why they kept changing the board so fast, but I kept count as well on a printed calculator. They were deducting votes off of Obama's side, but it didn't work in the end.
Let me tell you how this election is going to turn out. There will be more than one election. The first one will be Nov 5 and it will be a tie, but it is going to cause so much civil unrest, until they'll have to hold another one. The next President will be a Democrat. However, America is going to be bankrupct because of all the natural disasters and banks failing left and right. The truth about what Bush really did to America is going to come out. Right now, some of it is surfacing but not all of it has come out yet. America has been sold out.
I worked on Clinton in 92. Remember Bill was dead last behind Bush AND Perot before the convention.
Stick to the issues Obama. You can't win getting messing with Palin & co. The Repubs can't run on issues...they have nothing to say.
You notice the media was all over McCain/Palin and their lies recently. Of course the Repubs claim the media is elitist and liberal. However, when Karl Rove is saying McCain's ads have gone too far (lying about Obama's record and statements) that is pretty deep. You've got to get really down and dirty to offend Mr. Rove.
I'm still amazed at how many code words this election has revealed for racist behavior ... and in some cases not even bothering to hide the racism in code. It's just plain rich. First you have the douche Westmoreland from GA with the uppity comments. Then you have the constant references to "they" in Fred Thompson's RNC pep rally speech.
Now, I'm not one to cry racism all day. Frankly, I don't care whether White folks rally to our cause or not when we call it out. But I'm not going to sit around and watch racist douche bags (might be too good for even that term) do foul stuff and not call it for what it is.
It always tickles me to see this stuff show up at Republican party gatherings that these same folks want to put it in our faces that they were the party of Lincoln. My ass. These folks are openly hostile to people of color and they dare wanting to make a pitch for us to join their party.
Now, I'm not necessarily big on the Dems as far as doing anything of substance for people of color. But you gotta at least say that the Dems don't typically have openly hostile things against us (unless we just beat them in the South Carolina presidential primary).
Rich Rethugs... just rich.
And while ya'll racist Republican mofos were creating waffle boxes with race-tinged stereotypes insulting just about every major racial group in American, another major Wall St. bank, Lehman Brothers, is apparently about to fold and Bank of America just bought up the troubled Wall St. giant Merryl Lynch. Yeah, THAT same Merryl Lynch that gambled with the house's money on Enron's fraudulent and nonexistent energy companies. Seems, they didn't learn their lesson.
All the while Lee County, Florida, where I reside, continues to be ground zero for percentage of foreclosures in the entire state. People are losing their homes. Banks and investors are losing their shirts. The U.S. economy is in the toilet and constantly being exposed for the house of cards that it is. Wall St. is being exposed for the out and out gambling and probably fraud that has lately become the status quo among mortgage banks, including and especially, so-called prime lenders.
War is raging in Irag and Afghanistan based on a lie. The U.S. military has been exposed for the paper tiger that it's become. And guess what ya'll... WE CAN'T AFFORD the more than $350 Million dollars flying out out the door each day. The joblessness rate among all Americans is the highest in the last 5 years. And quiet as it's kept, that rate is MORE THAN 10% (10.6% to be exact) among Black Americans and 8% for Hispanic or Latino Americans.
I could go on, but you get the drift. This is a pure distraction piece and virtually noone is beating the drums of what's really going on. Shame shame.
What it tells me is that the guys who designed the waffle box don't know a black person, a Mexican, or a Muslim. If they did, it might have occurred to them to show their design & get some reaction before they dropped a lot of money on it. They knew the market for the waffles. I've seen some cutting satirical caricatures of Obama in editorial cartoons that were not racist.
"This is a pure distraction piece and virtually noone is beating the drums of what's really going on. Shame shame.
I agree EzMun, it is a "distraction piece", but how many among us are willing to contemplate our own demise?
In the same way, we shrink from being reminded of our own mortality.
Thanks for "beating the drums." Some of us are willing to stare death down, and spit in it's eye, and say, "Enough!"
Let's just hope that it's not too late.
"What it tells me is that the guys who designed the waffle box don't know a black person, a Mexican, or a Muslim. If they did, it might have occurred to them to show their design & get some reaction..."
Hey, Bob, they knew what our reactions would be. That's the whole point.
We were not their target. They understood their target group all to well, and it wasn't blacks, Muslims, or Mexicans--it was white conservative racists.
Was there some redundancy in that last statement?
You know what's even more telling: they put all this time, money and effort into this project, knowing full well that the idea would sell, well, like hotcakes.
Yep. Right on, Field.
The moment I reached your page and saw the post, I thought to myself, "Aunt Jemima."
Sorry. But the satire tip eludes me with this one.
Good call, Field.
I'm in the 5% that would get a tax hike with Obama's plan and I'm still voting for him because I believe that we will eventually have to pay for all the shit the baby boomers bought. The idea of low taxes with so much national debt just doesn't make any sense to me. Seriously...who's gonna pay for the wars, corporate bailouts and healthcare for aging baby boomers? Someone has to, right? However, the "hard-working American" segment of the electorate seems to be drinking the Koolaid once again. *sigh* So I console my self with the knowledge that the McCain tax break will leave me with extra funds to build a big fence and perhaps some hounds to release to keep all those "hard-workers" off my property once there aren't any good middle-class jobs anymore (outside of the military).
Bottm Line is this:
Bambi went to a racist church for 20 yrs, is friends with a nutsack that bombed the pentagon and a New York Police station....
Oh, lets not forget that after your pep rally in denver ya'll forgot to pick up 20,000 American flags left laying on the ground.....
So, point your little winey fingers all day and cry racisim but the core of America is watching you and is NOT going to put someone in power like your boy.
he may be wright about the lip stix thing but remember..
You can put pancake mix on it but it don't make it white......LMAO
Its not rocket science, all Obama has to do is show how Mccain is not the Common man, especially if he can connect his historical economic views to the failing housing market. Palin and waffles and lipstick
is a distraction because McCain has little substance
Field-found your blog somehow...shit I was drunk that night...great posts, keep fighting. One thing to keep in mind, if McPalin is elected, we will be quite a bit closer to revolution. Certainly closer than I've seen in my 39 years...Anyone who would like should check out this blog:

It gives an excellent take on race and racism from a South African's perspective. Professor Laher was one of my Profs at Portland State U in Oregon...if ya want, check out mine-mikesearches.blogspot.com...peace
I was really tempted to photoshop a box of crackerjacks with McCain's face and replace the dog between the legs with a pitbull, but I couldn't do it.
Field, you hit the nail on the head in this post.
Maybe the people who thought the New Yorker "satire" magazine cover was funny and not racist can explain the difference between the waffle box and the New Yorker Obama cover. I'm black and according to the liberal elite, I have an unsophisticated and underdeveloped sense of humor.
Is it just because one is put out by "progressives" and can't be racist and the other is put out by the right and has to be racist?
Let's not forget the curious George t-shirts, either. How do they factor into white folks sense of humor?
So Ise gwine to sit cheer and wait for you to enlighten me'sms. Suh. And don't go usin' no big words 'cuz I can barely read. And if you use your usual illiterate syntax, I won't notice anyway.
It has never occurred to me that the President's face could be used to spur the marketing and sale of consumer products. May it is because all the presidents prior to Barack Obama have been boring white men.
Yet, the Germans are selling dolls of Barack Obama.

Wow Adam,
That doll is about a mess and a half!
